Thanks for your reply. I want to have on my homepage just the elements of the top row of the “portfolio 3 column” page beneath a slider. Is that possible?
Here’s another example of the look I’m after: http://www.spch.org.au/my/ http://www.spch.org.au/myHi.
It possible. You can use portfolio shortcode on the homepage.
If you have any trouble with that, just contact me.

Hi Kaptinlin,
How can i disable the link of a top level menu item?
In other words; i would like to show the top level tab with the sub tabs (which are linked) but without a link on the main menu item. The site i’m currently working on is http://www.initiat.nl Hope you can help me out. Kind regards…
Hi lowtense,
You can use wordpress built-in menu.
First go to striking->general options page to enable it.
Then go to appearance->Menu options page to customize the menu.
Make your top level menu items as “Custom Link”.
And for the URL field place a # character.

KaptinLin
Feature request: 1. The ability to exclude a category from the Blog and Portfolio Shortcode 2. The ability to have tab-based, sortable blog listings based on selected categories just like you do for the portfolio shortcode. 3. Random post shortcode or widget (preferably shortcode, since I can put shortcode into a text widget anyway) 4. Rating system – Probably easiest for posts. But my site does video game reviews, so a dedicated shortcode for displaying information about a game (year, developer, platform, rating) would be prefered. Maybe based on a custom post/portfolio type? Where you could enter the image and specific custom fields in the portfolio, then call it to display using shortcode in a post. (This is a major request, but there is really nothing like out there).
I absolutely love this theme and all the effort you have put into it. And I would rather push you to expand, than look somewhere else. You are always on the ball with requests and updates, so I feel you are always trying to move forward instead of putting something up here and not improving it. Keep up the good work. BTW , my other handle is NCMS
Thanks. I will think about your suggestion!
Hi,
I purchased your Striking theme yesterday. I downloaded the newest version of wordpress and went to upload your theme and it says, “Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme install failed.”
I tried redownloading and uploading it does not work…the same thing happens. What can I do? My site is http://healthierliving4you.com Thanks!
I have checked the file and in fact it is missing the the style.css style sheet. My email address is craig@hl4y.com, please email me and let me know where I can download. I just tried re-downloading and it is doing the same thing.
How do I put links in the slider—another words on my homepage there is the anything slider and a picture comes up. I want someone to click on one of the images and take it to a page. Thanks
Hi airforceone,
There is a option named ‘Link Target’ on ‘SlideShow Item Options’ module on slider item edit page.

KaptinLin…my issue is resolved. It was on my host side.
My question is regarding the layout and what options we have for main menu placement. I need to create a site with a very similar layout as this site: http://www.quickdry.com/ where the main menu is basically in the center of the page below the logo, rather than the menu being in the upper right side. Is this possible to do in the admin panel without altering code and CSS ?
Thanks!

Hey,
I want my logo just above the breadcrumbs, so in the ‘page’. How can i doo that?
Thx!
Marijn
Hi Marijin,
I think it’s not easy to do that.
You need make some change on the theme files. But i didn’t recommend to do that because it will break the updates.

KaptinLin
The forum-members helped me with this …
Hi, I just updated.. to the newest theme.. but I need to know where the css file is to fix the menu again.. and where i can add my images again for the header and the footer.. Where would these be?
The site is http://steve-mcshane.com/
Thanks, Jen
Hi Jen, For the menu, You can use custom css code to striking->general options page.
.jqueryslidemenu ul li a { padding: 0 10px; }For adding images to header and footer. What do you mean?

How does one disable linking/titles for posts (which are to be used in pages separate from the homepage slider)
For instance, I want to have a jquery slider on on one of my homepages that pulls from one category that only has one image and links to nothing and has no title/description present
I know this is easily done within the slider items section, but can you do it with posts for pages seperate from the homepage? Thanks
Hi gabrieldoes,
Striking support the sliders pull from categories of blog post. But it will linking to the post item when you click on the image. If you want disable that, you may need edit on the theme files. But it will overwrited by the theme updates. Do you want to do that?
Regards,
KaptinLin
How do I enable the “Slideshow with latest posts” on the homepage?
I figured out my previous question. Thanks!
Hello!
As I can display a different logo on a particular page?
Hi crichh,
You can edit on striking/header.php file.
Add the code below to the line 48 of the file.
if(is_page(123)){ $custom_logo = array( "type"=>"url", "value"=>"http://www.kaptinlin.com/logo_1.jpg" ); }Learn from http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_pageRegards,

kaptinlin, i’m hoping you can help.
I’ve been developing the site that I purchased your theme for using a temporary url as the WP home url and site url: http://excelloregon.com/temp.omnis.com
Today, I switched over the name servers and the propagation seems to be done, but when I change the WP home url and site url to the proper domain http://excelloregon.com it breaks the Striking theme. I lose all the layout. Any idea why this might be happening?
An unrelated question: I don’t see any way to add custom fields for posts or pages in the Striking theme. This is a feature I’d like to use with a plug-in. Can that be enabled in some way?
Thanks!
Christopher
Hi Christopher,
You may learn from http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress
For custom field, you can click the ‘Screen Options’ Button that is on the top right of the post edit page. And check the ‘Custom Fields’ option.
Regards,
KaptinLin
Yes. I followed the Codex instructions for moving Wordpress, and used the Velvet Blues plugin for updating URLs in the content
The two urls point to exactly the same place and should be interchangeable. But, when I use the permanent URL , I lose all the layout CSS . The font replacement is still there, the logo, the slides (but not the slideshow), the drop downs, etc.
If I switch to TwentyTen theme, it works fine. No problem.
Is there somewhere in Striking theme that I need to change a URL ?
I wouldn’t think URLs would be coded in the theme files at all; that it would just use the WP variables, but it seems like I’m losing only part of the Striking CSS .
When I turn off the Combine CSS and Combine JS options, the theme returns to normal. Are these combined files cached somewhere? Can I rebuild them with the new URL so that I can still use that feature?
Hi Christopher,
You can try

Hello Kaptainlin,
I am just wondering how to resize the pictures for the slider, because they show of over sized everytime doesen’t matter what size I use! I would like to know how to get a picture 800×600 (or even smaller) showing up completly sized in the slider. Know the pictures I uloaded getting cut of and resized into large every time.
Cheers Menke
Hi mmenke,
The default slider size is 960×440px.
If you use a picture 800×600, the script will zoom the picture first. The cut off the top and bottom. It will not stretch the picture.
Regards,
KaptinLin
kaptinlin, apologies if this is a double email for you. I can only reply to my own post and I’m not sure if you see it.
I solved my theme problem by turning off the Combine CSS and Combine JS toggles. This was working fine before the URL change, and i would like to continue using these features. Are those combined files cached somewhere that I can clear them from, and rebuild them with the new permanent URL ?
Thanks.

Hi. Tried finding help over on the support forum site…couldn’t find a solution. I have large graphics that I need for an online user guide. They need to stay fairly large for the page, and not be made smaller for click/lightbox enlargement, since the person is following along. Anyway, I have the left sidebar for the menu, but the large graphics are getting cut off on the right. If I do full width, sure, they’re fine, but I need that left sidebar menu for navigation in the user guide. I’ve tried this over at the support forum, but had no luck…
I can’t get it to work. It isn’t adjusting. I need to find a way basically for the graphics to either expand the boundary of the set width, or expand the size of the text area so I have a left sidebar further to the left than it currently is, and a text area that extends much further to the right to allow for the larger graphics.
I attempted to make a rather crude screenshot explanation of what I’m talking about, since the pages in question are only for those with the login. You can see it here. Please help. This is the second time I bought the theme, because I liked it. Hadn’t realized this would happen.
Hi julesvern97,
Yes, remove overflow:hidden may solved your problem. But if you can give me your page url i can check the issue deeply.
My email is kaptinlin@gmail.com if you don’t want post here.

KaptinLin
Thank you very much.
Hi martinuco33,
It possible.
First go to striking->general options page to use box layout.
Then set background in striking->background options page.

Hi!
How can I change the style and size of H1 tag in Striking theme? Where can I find it?
TY
Hi,
You can go to striking->font options page to change the h1 size.
And you can go to striking->color options page to change the color.
