HELLO! Thanks for your pretty template. Just what I want, something clean and simple for the blog I am trying to transfer over from blogger. I however am a complete dummy for the following questions… I’m clearly not a coder. Any simple solutions for the following..?

1. I want to make my logo larger and center it. 2. I want to center my menu at the top as well. 3. I want to make the right sidebar allow 300 width adverts and fix margins to accommodate this. 4. For some reason, the most recent post is not showing up on my homepage and I can’t figure out why.

Thank you ever so much.

Hello quitenicestuff,

Purchased but couldn’t upload into Wordpress. Kindly need your assist.

Thanks in advance, Pochani

Hi Pochani,

Many thanks for purchasing!

To install first unzip the package you got from Themeforest, inside will be a bunch of folders such as “Documentation”, “import Data”, “License”, “PSD” and “stylemag”.

The “stylemag” folder is the theme folder, you should upload this to the “wp-content/themes” folder in your WordPress install, then login to WordPress and go to “Themes” and you’ll see the “StyleMag” theme, click “Activate” and you’re done!

Thanks

Hi there, I love the look of this, it’s beautiful and clean!

I was just wondering if it would be too hard to replicate a blog layout that just shows the full posts without a featured image?

Also, is there something that can be added to the summary posts, like a ‘Read more…’?

quitenicestuff

Hi HeyDaph,

Thanks for your interest.

It would be a simple modification to have a page displaying full blog posts without the featured image. I’d be happy to advise you how to do this via support.

And same as above for adding a read more button, easy to implement by changing a little bit of code, also happy to tell you how to do this via support.

Thanks

Hi there, thanks for answering my query above! Do you have a version of this without the e-Commerce support (I just want to use it for a blog), that’s a bit more in line with the price for other blog/magazine templates?

quitenicestuff

Hi HeyDaph,

I’m afraid there’s no separate version which doesn’t contain the shop. However you can use the theme just as a blog without the shop functionality by simply not installing the WooCommerce plugin

Hi,

Where can I add newsletter form as demo theme?

Thak you.

quitenicestuff

Hi gencdizayn,

The theme contains styling for this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/newsletter-sign-up/

So you just download and activate the plugin, then go to “Appearance > Widgets” and add the newsletter widget.

Hope that helps!

Hi quitenicestuff,

I love your theme, but I have a pre-sale question… What are the sizes of the various ad spaces?

Thank you.

quitenicestuff

Hi TheConceptBiz,

Thanks for your interest, the smaller adverts displayed in a grid of 4 are 105×105 each and the larger one is 220×220. You can basically place any advert 220 width or less in the sidebar.

Thanks

TheConceptBiz

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately these ads don’t meet the usual requirements. Would there be a simple way to expand the widget area, so that ads with 300px would fit?

quitenicestuff

Hi TheConceptBiz,

Sure it’s possible with a little bit of tweaking to the CSS. The majority of the layout structure is coded using % values so it would be fairly easy to tweak widths.

I know having the correct ad size is important so at some point I might add an option to specify the sidebar width.

Thanks

Hi there,

This is a really amazing template that works well with any existing site. We were pretty hung up making our blog look just like our main website template (an online shop) but upon seeing this template, we saw that it wasn’t needed and actually would help break up the “sameness” of the site. It is simple enough to not stand out too much from our main site design. Thank you!

With that having been said, I have a few questions…

The logo text and any of the larger header texts look awful. They are jagged around the edges. They even look like that in the example but we thought it wouldn’t look this way in the downloadable product. The date text looks the same as well. Pretty much the only text that looks readable is the content and menu text. How can we fix this?

Also, if we enter “text before the signup box” for the newsletter plugin, the css styling doesn’t work for this text. It doesn’t look like what you have in the demo, it’s all huge. How do we fix this?

Other than that, we have no other issues. This template is awesome. :)

Cheers!

quitenicestuff

Hi ElementalOsmium,

Many thanks for purchasing!

The theme uses a standard Google web font, if it’s looks jagged around the edges I would say this is due to the browser or operating system you’re using. I’ve tested on a wide range of browsers on Mac OSX, Windows and mobile devices and haven’t come across the same problem. Could you tell me what web browser + version you’re using and the operating system you’re running it on? I think the problem is only on out of date browsers so the majority of your website’s visitors would not experience the same problem. That said, if you’d rather change to a different Google web font, this is very easy to do in the theme options.

Regarding the newsletter plugin CSS, this was a bug in a previous version which I’ve now fixed so upgrading will sort the problem.

Thanks

Default-user

Hi there,

The font looks awful on the following browsers: Google Chrome: Version 24.0.1312.57 m Firefox: 18.0.2 Firefox: 19. 0

on Windows 7 and Windows Vista

*UPDATE to the font issue. From a google search it looks like this is a windows issue.

I’m not sure what you mean about updating for the newsletter plugin. I bought the theme yesterday. Have you made the update since then for me to download?

Cheers

quitenicestuff

Hi ElementalOsmium,

I’ve tested the theme on Windows 7 with the latest version of Firefox and the font looks fine for me. I think the problem is you’ve got anti-aliasing/cleartype switched off in Windows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/enable-disable-window-7-cleartype-text-anti-aliasing-with-cleartype-switch/

The latest version of the theme is 1.3.3 so if you’ve got an older version I’d recommend updating.

Hope that helps!

Default-user

Hi there,

Thanks. I can’t get the cleartype thing to fix the issue. I was trying last night but no worries. As long as it’s my machines, I don’t care much. I might change the font anyway just for a piece of mind.

I just upgraded to 1.3.3 and the newsletter text is still not working correctly.

quitenicestuff

Hi ElementalOsmium,

Could you send over your WP login details so I can take a look at the newsletter issue?

Thanks

Default-user

Hi there,

I’m sorry, we run a business and don’t allow anyone who doesn’t work for us to login to our applications. We’ll just opt to not use the text box if you can’t offer any insight about the issue without logging into our WP install.

Thanks

Hi ElementalOsmium,

OK no worries, if you can just send over the website URL to help@quitenicestuff.com I’ll take a look. I may not even need access to the backend to resolve the issue.

Dear QuiteNiceStuff, first of all, our compliments for the template. It’s perfect for our project. (www.themasquerade.it) We have a problem: we would like to set the logo as big as possible also when we need to reduce the size of the screen/browser page/device. To explain it better here you have two screenshoots:

NORMAL – ok

http://www.themasquerade.it/SCREEN1_OK.png

BROWSER AT 50% – too small

http://www.themasquerade.it/SCREEN2_TOOSMALL.png

It’s possible to fix it? Maybe in the css?

I hope you understood our problem.

Thanks in Advance.

alnmoviez@gmail.com vidal1986@hotmail.com
quitenicestuff

Hi AlnMovies,

Many thanks for purchasing!

You can tweak the width of the logo for the smaller screen size by modifying the responsive CSS.

Open “stylemag/css/responsive.css” and add the following on line 3:

#header-left {width:60% !important;} #header-right {width:40% !important;}

You can set the two widths to whatever you like but make sure you offset an increase to one width by reducing the other e.g. 60/40, 70/30 etc.

Thanks

Hi quitenicestuff

I am using the theme for a magazine that needs to have one image of the cover on the home page. I am finding that when bringing or shrinking the screen inward the cover image squashes inward and isn’t responsive (ie: shrink down to the screen size thats looking at it) Is there a way to make this one image responsive without making it a slider?

Great theme and love the style!

Hi, I like your theme, it’s very nice. But I have some questions:

1. How can I change the words “Description”, “Reviews” in shop? 2. I want to replace “shop” with another word in url structure. How can I realize that?!

Thanks

quitenicestuff

Hi kurosh,

Many thanks for purchasing!

1.) To change the “Description” title open:

“stylemag/woocommerce/single-product/tabs/description.php” and edit line 11.

“stylemag/woocommerce/single-product/tabs/tab-description.php” and edit line 4.

To change the “Review” title open:

“stylemag/woocommerce/single-product/tabs/tab-reviews.php” and edit line 2.

“stylemag/woocommerce/single-product-reviews.php” and edit line 31 and 37.

To change “shop” in the URL structure login to WordPress and go to “Pages”, edit the “Shop” page and change the “permalink” (found just below the title. And to tweak the permalink settings for shop categories etc go to “WooCommerce > Settings > Pages” and change it in the “Permalinks” section.

Hope that helps!

I’m working on the theme and have a couple of questions… :)

1) What is the size of the main area in the single post area in pixels? How wide is the sidebar? I want to know what image sizes would work best for the slideshow on the front page and for the thumbnails on the smaller posts under it.

2) How can I get the featured image to post only where it is featured and not on the post? I don’t want it to show up twice. I saw this question and answer, but don’t know how to count the lines: captainspaceman PURCHASED 9 days ago Flag Hey Great theme! Exactly what i was looking for! Was wondering if there is an option (or some line of php that I can modify) that will make the featured images only appear on the homepage and not the individual posts? Thanks in advance, quitenicestuff AUTHOR 9 days ago Flag Hi captainspaceman, Thanks! Yes this is possible, open “stylemag/single-default.php” and delete lines 18 – 27, then depending on if you want to keep the dotted separator or not you can add this in it’s place: ____

Is there another way to do this without messing with code? (I’m a tweaker, not a coder…)

3. I enabled the ads on the sidebar, but just got broken images instead of the squares you have. Is there a plugin that you use recommend for the ads?

Here is our site if you want to take a look. I just popped some content in for now… http://www.purchasefamilymag.com

quitenicestuff

Hi PurchaseFamily,

1.) The main post area / slider image is 680×450 pixels. Providing your image is at least this big or bigger it’ll be automatically cropped to fit. The sidebar width is 220 pixels.

2.) To get an image to only display as a featured image do NOT click “Insert into Post” when uploading it, just click “Use as Featured Image”

3.) I’d recommend using the built into advert widget, my guess for why the images aren’t loading is that you added the wrong image URL for your advert. You just need to upload the advert image, then add the URL like so:

[advert image_url=”http://website.com/image.jpg” link_url=”http://website.com”]

Hope that helps!

Hi! Just purchased this beautiful theme and excited to start working with it. I, too, would like to make the logo much larger. I saw the convo above where you suggested adding the code:

header-left {width:60% !important;} #header-right {width:40% !important;}

I got to stylemag/css/responsive.css, but am not sure where to put the code. Can you provide me more details how to make this work please? As you can guess, I am new to this. Thanks!

quitenicestuff

Hi pcouvignou,

Many thanks for purchasing!

Where you add the code depends on what you want the size to change for, regular desktop screen resolution or iPad, iPhone screens etc?

To change the sizing for a normal computer go to “Appearance > Theme Options > Styling Options” and add it in the “Custom CSS” field.

Or to change it for smaller screen sizes / iPad add it in “stylemag/css/responsive.css” on line 3.

Hope that helps!

Default-user

Thanks for quick response. It is for computer appearances so I added it to Custom CSS but it is still not changing size. Also, the code does not want to stay on one line; rather, I typed it in as one line, clicked SAVE, and the saved panel shows the code broken up onto 7 lines. Is this normal?

Hi, I am looking over your theme and it looks great, just I had a couple questions. I want to move certain sections around on the homepage, like the recent items, instead of vertical, I want them horizontal in the main section instead of sidebar….is that something that is difficult to do? I am somewhat experienced with using HTML/CSS and a little PHP, is this easy enough to copy paste code into another section of the php template file? I was also wondering, If I could remove the slider? And lastly, is there any place where I can demo the dashboard section of the site to see how easy it is to work with the site for those who can not code?

quitenicestuff

Hi therise03,

Thanks for your interest.

You can rearrange all the elements on the homepage in the main column and the sidebar. You can’t add sidebar elements to the main column and vice versa though.

However if you just want to display recent posts in the main column horizontally you could do this in the style of the “Style” category (check the demo site homepage, it’s the 5 horizontal images).

Regarding the slider, yes it can be easily removed in the theme options.

I’m afraid there’s no demo for the backend, if you’ve got any further questions about the dashboard though feel free to ask and I’ll answer as best I can!

Thanks

Default-user

Thank you very much for your quick reply. So another question I had was are the widgets only restricted to the footer? or can they be put in the sidebar as well. And yes, like the style category on the homepage, I wanted to have 2 rows with 4 recent posts displayed (regardless of category they are written in) at one time. Is this something easily done with this theme? – Any chance of getting a screen shot of the dashboard to see the options that have been added to the standard dashboard? Thank you so much for your help

quitenicestuff

Hi therise03,

Any widget can be placed in either the sidebar or footer widget areas.

Regarding displaying news, you can basically have any style shown on the homepage. For example you could use the “Style” 5 column layout to display recent news and have 2 rows on top of one another so 10 items are displayed in total.

Feel free to email me at help@quitenicestuff.com and I’ll be happy to attach some screenshots of the dashboard.

Thanks

Hello, This theme is amazing but I got a small problem.. I’m trying to add some Google special fonts. The thing is that it’s actually working for headings but not for normal text in my article/page. How can I fix it ?

Victor,

quitenicestuff

Hi tivbroc,

The Google font field in the theme options does indeed only change the secondary font used for headings. Its fairly easy to also change the body font though. Send me a support email to help@quitenicestuff.com and I’ll be happy to advise on how to do this.

Thanks
