Hey DC … My Twitter widget suddenly stopped working. Where I have the widget it simply states – “Twitter service is not available” ... any ideas why this might have happened, still a great theme!!

Thank you for the information. We just checked this and the reason for this is the last API version change on Twitter service. We have a simple fix for this that we will include also with the future update. To fix this right away you need to:

- copy and open twitteroath.php file located in cms/lib/ folder inside the theme folder.

- now you will need to change version from 1 to 1.1. Almost at the top of this file, you will find this line:

public $host = "https://api.twitter.com/1/";

- change it to this:

public $host = "https://api.twitter.com/1.1/";

Now replace the old twitteroath.php file in the /cms/lib/ folder on your server and that’s all.

If the twitter widget or segment still don’t work on your site after you refresh the page, you will need to reset the twitter widget/segment. If you use Twitter widget – go to Twitter widget options in section Appearance > Widgets, select One time reset twitter data and click on “Save” button.

This reset option works the same for Content Builder Twitter segment – select “One time reset twitter data” option and click on “Update” button.

Hello, probably you already saw it, but posted yesterday a simple solution for this in the comment above – in our answer to ferretti question. You will just need to switch the API version to the 1.1 like described and use “One time reset twitter data” option if needed.

My web site has lost the Menu completely – I only discovered this just now and I suspect it lost it about one month ago. I cannot create a new menu – its says “there is some problem accessing the database”. I cannot import a .zip file of the menu either. I can add a post, so that part is ok. Please can you tell me where I should look for the database and where the menu system is stored ?

Maybe there was some error in database. If you lost your old menu I think you had some crash in database (if you have problem only with the menu). You might need to remove the existing tables used for the menu from the database and recreate the menu. For this you need to enter the MySql database admin panel and delete these two tables named like this: “wp_osaka_dc_menu” and “wp_osaka_dc_menu_items”. After this create your new menu in WP admin.

I think this will be added in future because we have this on our list for this next update. At this moment it is possible for the High Resolution mode only with modification in the common_hires.css file – you will need to remove most of the responsive code for this file.

Hey DC … One more quick question. In a regular post you have the option to display a video via a youtube or vimeo url … is it possible to use a regular thumbnail (or Main Image) on the homepage and still display the video in the actual post?

Hello, sorry you had to wait for this answer. I am not sure, but I think you ask about recent posts displayed with a Blog segment in Content Builder? At this moment it is not possible to have a thumbnail image for Blog segment and a video on post page. I think we should be possible to add with some modification in the next update, but we will need to look on this. But, it works like you described for Recent Post Stream shortcode and the Board Slider – you just need to use both options – add the main image for post and the YouTube/Vimeo video code.

Yes, for this you just need to remove the more tag from the content (if you inserted it earlier) and clear the Excerpt field if you filled it with some text.

I can find the shortcode for can use a your “Contact Form”. Your video demostration only shows how to create, but not how to put in any page or post. The only way that I find is use with your “Content Builder”, but not always I need to use it. I want to use where I need (as a sidebar).

What need to do, what is the shortcode?

Hello, there is no shortcode for Contact Form included. The Contect Form created with “Contact Form Creator” section can be displayed only with the Contact segment in Content Builder. I am not sure if this will be possible at this moment, but we will take a look on this and maybe there will be a way to add a shortcode to use it also in posts or sidebars.

If I activate this theme I get a whitescreen and nothing but an completely unusable WP system, resolved by amending the current theme back to twentytwelve in the WP Tables. I also get a white screen if I try to preview the theme without activating. I have tried numerous values for the PHP Memory ranging from 32m to 512m and always the same fail. Installed the PHP.ini plugin so I can monitor the PHP values and they are being applied correctly via my php.ini file. Can you let me have the exact values I need to put in the ohp.ini file to get this theme to even load up. Thanks.

Are you sure the theme was correctly installed/uploaded on your server? Did you unpacked the ZIP file downloaded from Theme Forest and uploaded only “Osaka” folder from “theme” folder – or installed the ZIP file from the same folder?

If the theme was uploaded properly, like it is described in the User Guide, you can first check if you use any non theme plugins and deactivate all the non Osaka plugins (besides NextGEN Gallery) and see if this helps.

It might be also caused by some other error, like the duplicated declaration of OAuthException class for Twitter, but you should see some error information about this. Do you see any error information on your WP installation after you activate the theme?

Yes the theme was installed correctly. But for the sake of completeness this is what I did:

a) Removed the ‘old’ Osaka theme completely. b) Disabled ALL Plugins. c) Uploaded Osaka theme using the .ZIP method, uploaded fine no problems. d) Went into Theme Preview for Osaka…. completely white screen. e) Activate Theme… broke the WP system. f) Amended the WP Tables to ‘remove’ Osaka and use Twenty Twelve. g) Tested again…. Everything Working Fine. h) Removed Osaka Theme files and uploaded again using FTP method. i) Went into Theme Preview for Osaka…. White Screen again J) Activated Osaka… Broke WP. k) Removed Osaka…. Everything working fine again.

As per my earlier post can you listy your own working php.ini file so I can try that in addition.

At no time did I see any errors reported, just a white screen and a dead system.

I have lots of other WP systems running on the same exact hosting and configurations with no problems whatsoever.

Hello, I don’t think that php.ini configuration will help here if you have also other installation and they are working without problems.

Did you checked the error console and nothing is displayed when the white screen appears on your installation after the theme is activated? You can for example, in Google Chrome, click the right mouse button and select Inspect Element option. Then go to Console tab and check if there is any information displayed.

Additionally, you can also redownload the ZIP file from Theme Forest and try this with this new downloaded file. Maybe something is wrong with your current theme files.

I am also not sure about one thing in your description. When you activate Osaka on your installation, you have the white screen only when you view the live site – the WP admin section works correctly all the time?

Hello,

Did you checked if all the image segments have proper image paths? By the warnings you posted, looks like some image is missing in one segment. You can check if all segments have proper paths and reupload an image for the segment if needed. Let us know if this won’t help – maybe you can also send us access to your WP admin if possible.

The problem is that once I insert the last image, it is the first one that turns grey and goes inactive (on off). I guess it looses it’s path at that time. After that, I cannot re-edit this image, the editor won’t open. I tryed deleting it but that won’t work either. It stays there and won’t delete. I think this is some other problem with this particular page, maybe some error in the database. You can first try to just delete this page and create a completely new one and then recreate the segments on this new page. I think I discussed this kind of problem earlier with some other client (based on your description I think it is the same problem).

If this wan’t help please send us an email using contact form in our Theme Forest profile with the access data and we will investigate it more, but I the above simple solution should help.

Hello, actually I am not sure why the more tag down’t work on your site. When I test it on our Superior Osaka installation the more tag also works fine, so you should be able to use one of these two options: excerpt field or more tag.

I just removed more tag for one of my post in test installation, and inserted more tag in the content and the content is also cut with no problems in the part selected by more-tag.

Maybe you can send us access to your admin panel (using contact form in our TF profile) and I will just take a look on this if possible?

Maybe you don’t write about the Blog segment in Content Builder and I am not testing in the right place. At this moment I can’t enter your site, so I am not sure where you see this problem. For which future the more tag is not used on your site? Is this Blog segment in Content Builder or maybe you write about some other feature?

Hello, yes, sorry, I understood the problem correctly earlier, but I tested the wrong posts on your site. Now I see you have some latest post with inserted excerpts already (with Excerpt field) and this was misleading.

I checked this again now and I see that the more tag doesn’t work properly on your installation however it should work fine for blog segment in Content Builder. I made another test on our installation for this and more tag works good so I think it is something on your installation, but I am not sure what might be causing this.

You can check this in a few ways. First, maybe some non theme plugin is causing this problem, so you can try to deactivate all the non Osaka plugins at once (besides NextGEN Gallery) and check if this helps. If it will help, then you can bring plugins one by one to see which one is causing the problem.

If this won’t help, you can make a completely fresh WordPress installation on your server – upload Osaka theme there and test if the more tags work fine on this installation. This will show if it is something on your current installation. Alternatively you can test this on a localhost installation just to check if everything is OK with your theme files and if more tag will work good for posts.

Love the theme! One bug I noticed: I tried importing the sample menu and cms settings on a WordPress 3.5.2 installation and received an error message: Checking file.. Error Checking extract dir.. OK Sorry, but an error occurred while updating the settings.

I downgraded to WordPress 3.5.1 and the import worked fine. Just thought you might want to investigate the importing error. Thanks again for creating such an excellent theme!

In regards to the import, I tested this now on WP 3.5.2 installation and the import worked good also on this latest WP version – I imported successfully the menu and also the CMS settings. Maybe it was just some temporary connection problem on your side or some coincidence, really hard to say. Hmm, I think everything should work fine because I think there wasn’t any change in the latest WP update that should affect this feature.

I downloaded the theme files again and uploaded via FTP.

I still get the white screen both in the site AND the Admin screens, the entire WP system is unavailable when your theme is activated. Only way to fix is to manually amend the WP tables to revert the theme used to TwentyTwelve…. then works perfectly.

Did as you requested and used Chrome, site fails with a 500 Server Error but there is nothing in the console messages tab.

Also, to remove any potential conflicts I disabled ALL Plugins.

I am at a total loss as to how to get this working as I have loads of other WP systems running on the same hosting set-up without issues.

Maybe time to give up totally as I can’t really afford to spend the time and as this is for a client site I have a lack of faith in it running with it.

If you like I will send you the ftp and WP login details and you can take a look, my sites are all with one of the largest UK hosting companies so I expect that any issues on mine may affect other potential users who run the same configuration.

Pity as it looks like a great theme!

But, you can earlier check one other thing. Just to make sure if it is not a problem of Twitter class redeclaration, you can make this small change in one file:

Open functions.php located inside the theme and delete or comment this line:

require_once(CMS_TEMPLATEPATH . '/cms/lib/twitteroauth/twitteroauth.php');

Then you can check if this helps.

One other thing you can test is to install the theme on localhost with software like XAMPP just to make sure that everything is fine with your theme files.

Removing the Twitter class redeclaration in functions.php fixed the problem completely.

Also, activated all plugins and no issues whatsoever. will carry on testing it .

Unfortunately there is no option for Login in Superior Osaka theme like it was in Prestige theme. This can be added only with some modification in the code – some additional PHP and CSS code – but it would need some development.

Love this theme. However, I am getting a 404 Error for individual Services Post. This was not happening when I initially the services posts yesterday. Only started happening after I edited them with real text instead of the placeholder text.

Thoughts. I read that this was issue in another comment but that person did not provide the solution they found.

I am not sure about which client/user you write and where might be the problem, but you can first go to section Settings > Permalinks and click on Save Changes button. Also, when you create a new service post is it working properly or you still have this problem? If possible you can also send us a link to your site or access if possible and I will take a look on this (via email using contact form in our Theme Forest profile).

I love ur theme and got lots of complements about the site i built. But recently realized that when a user comments, there is no success indicator when pressing “send” button. just a simple refresh. how should this behaviour can be fixed? PS: The comment is added normally to the system.

Thank you! In regards to the comments section, I am not sure how you would like this to work, but I think you would like some kind of additional message displayed when you click on the Send button? I think it is not possible to add in some simple way and for this functionality some additional code will be needed. Unfortunately at this moment I don’t have any ready solution for this modification.

But its a strange behaviour. Every sending comment system no matter if its a contact us Or comments is accompanied with a message of success OR failure. Right now my users don’t know if their comment is accepted or not which is quite a bad experience. I know php, could you tell me where exacetly is the area of code that i should change? Thanks Nir

After you post a comment, the page refreshes and you see your comment in the thread (or comment plus information that it is awaiting moderation – depends on the discussion settings). I don’t think that there is always a success/failure message. The comments theme PHP code you will find in comment.php file located in the main theme folder. If you write about some additional messages I think you might want to use AJAX for this, but I am not sure how you see this on the live site. I think this will need some development based on your needs.
