I’m definitely interested in buying this. Will it work with the buddypress group forums instead of bbpress? We already have quite a few buddypress group forums going. Great looking theme, btw.
The theme doesn’t specifically support BuddyPress. You can still use BuddyPress but you wouldn’t get the theme specific styling.
Great. Thanks. Last question, I see there’s the login for the community forum. I have a multisite/buddypress network and I want to use this just as the helpdesk for the whole system. Everyone who would potentially comment in the bbpress forum is already logged in to the site. Would they also need to login to this particular blog to comment? Sorry if this is a stupid quesiton, I’ll have to test bbpress as I’ve only been using the group forums.
I’ve tested with my demo setup which is a multisite install and I stay logged in when I flip between demo admins. So I don’t think your users would need to login again to post in forums.
Fantastic work Chris, wish you the best with this one. Elegant touches. Congrats.
Interested works. Does it include bbpress modify theme folder ?
The theme is 100% BBPress compatible so contains custom BBPress templates, functions and style.
Will definitely use this one for my own site / support system : )
This is a real piece of art : )
Thanks for the compliment and the purchase.
What colors are available for customization?
You can modify the theme color (the green is default) and link colors. Let me know if there’s any specific elements that you would like customization control.
Ugh! Stop making themes I want to buy
1) So I have KnowHow right now…how hard would it be to ‘upgrade’ to this one? For example, I have knowledgebase articles already…would that just work with this knowledgebase?
2) Also does it support videos and such same as KnowHow (basically, in what way is the knowlegebase in this theme going to be different from KnowHow). Why would this theme be better?
1) The post type is different in KnowHow. So you could use this plugin to switch them to the correct one for Support Desk: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-type-switcher/
2) Support Desk doesn’t support video yet, it’s on my list for the first update.
If this theme would be better would depend on your needs
I wasn’t taking anything away from Chris Mooney, especially as a developer. He does fantastic work. I made my comment with nothing but a extremely high level of respect.
Part of the reason that I made my post was because I’ve been burned by other developers who have made claims on their products description page that didn’t hold any weight or they were false. That being said, I was not saying that Chris’ claims were false, but I wanted to be clear before I buy this that he’s being honest about THIS product.
Again, I did not mean any disrespect, or anything close to that. Please don’t jump down my throat for keeping people honest. It also seems that Chris didn’t have any problems with my post that inquired about the testimonials that he had on his description for this product. In fact, he explained exactly what they were, and understood where I was coming from.
I don’t think anyone intended any ill-intent. Thanks for clearing things up.
Have a great weekend
is there any ticket system implemented?
From what I have seen this is only a normal wp theme with BBPRESS INTEGRATION.
So what makes it special compared to all the normal wp themes out there with native bbpress styling support so that it deserves the name ‘Support Desk – A Responsive Helpdesk Theme’?
The built in Knowledge Base & FAQ features covers the other functions of a support center.
BBPress can easily be extended with plugins to cover most needs of a support site. Pippin Williamson did a great article on WP Tuts about using BBPress as a support forum: http://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/plugins/using-bbpress-as-a-support-forum/
Thanks for your fast reply!
Not happy. There’s no provision for user registration and when the user clicks login they get the ugly wordpress login box. If you create a community based theme then you should take care of login / registration in a way that’s seamless with the theme.
Have you tried using the Custom Page Templates: BBPress User Login & User Registration?
Will there be a ‘search’ icon in the search box field? When in mobile view, it gets lost that it’s really a search box (blends in and the wording gets cut off).
The navigation menu also gets blended in (can there be an icon for the down menu or the more icon?).
And, if this is intentional then it’s ok, but the search box is not full width when you go to other pages…it’s about 60 or 70% width.
Good point about the search box and navigation menu. I’ve got them on my list for the first update.
When viewing on my Android it isn’t obvious the menu is a menu or the search is a search, needs an icon or something.
Alan mentioned this as well so I’ve put it on my list for the first update.
Thanks for letting me know.
Lovely theme Chris,
Any chance of a ticket system so people can raise tickets?
Or do you know of a plugin that would integrate and take care of this?
Pippin Williamson did a great article on WP Tuts about using BBPress as a support forum: http://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/plugins/using-bbpress-as-a-support-forum/
There’s a range of plugins that cover the most common needs of support sites.
looks great – I this text in the page also in German available?
Germans translations are not provided, but the theme is fully translation ready.
I know there are plugins for Envato API integration, but it would be great to have that functionality in the COTS. I think your sales would increase drastically as well.
Anyways, great theme!
There’s been a lot of requests for integration so I’m looking into solutions.
Very nice, rly, but the ‘wpautop’ filter from WP Loop breaks the structure http://cl.ly/image/1f1V1c3k2m2W.
You can remove the filter (remove_filter( ‘the_content’, ‘wpautop’ ) or alert users in the documentation.
Ah thanks for pointing that out. Will get a fix in there.
Epic work! Is there frontend register form for forum (template)? And also, please replace the picture-icons with vector-icons so on the retina and other high ppi screens the theme looks sharp!
There is a BBPress login widget (for sidebars) and custom page templates for register and login.
I’ll take a look at the icons and see what I can do for an update.
In bought and installed this the, but no matter what, there is ni knowledge base items shown at the frontpage, nor at the knowledge base itself???
Where exactly do i have to write the knowledge base articles???
Could you email me via my profile with your site and your admin details so I can take a look for you?
will do that now
I would like to buy HTML version for my custom CMS, are u gonna upload this?
I don’t have plans for a HTML version at the moment but if there’s high demand I’ll consider it.
Very nice work! Good luck with sales
I would love to use this for my own Umbraco installation, and for that I would need a clean HTML5 template. Is it possible to get this?
I don’t have a HTML version of this. but possible in the future.
How near a future are we talking about? My company is willing to pay for it.
Most likely not in the next month. At the moment I want to concentrate on the WordPress version.
