I have a question concerning Post-Lists and Post-Grids: is it possible to have the link to the post not only on the post-title but also on the featured image of the post?? Everybody wants to click on the image to get the article….

ThemeBlvd

Yup, you can control from the Post Options when editing each post individually.

Also, you can do this site-wide with this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-blvd-featured-image-link-override/

When using Post List paginated with excerpts a button “view post” appears with a link to display the complete post. How and where can i change the button/link-text into german??

ThemeBlvd

You can use this plugin if you don’t want to fully localize the theme:

Is there a way to move the post title from the featured area to within the actual post content?

ThemeBlvd

Hello,

The theme has no feature for this, and so this is a customization you’ll need to make from your Child theme.

You could possibly remove the actions from the featured area from the functions.php of your Child theme.

remove_action( 'themeblvd_featured_single', 'swagger_featured_single' );
remove_action( 'themeblvd_featured_page', 'swagger_featured_page' );

And then add in titles manually by copying content.php and content-page.php to your Child theme and putting in the titles.

I just purchased this theme and love it. I want to know how your demo has the little home icon on the top left in navigation. When I created a navigation menu the home icon disappears.

I should have read the FAQ’s, first post :) Disregard this but I will be back with more questions.

ThemeBlvd

Awesome, glad you figured it out!

Are there any experiences concerning the new Wordpress 3.5 Version with respect to swagger-theme already??

ThemeBlvd

You should be good to go. I’ve been working with WP 3.5 for a couple months now, and following along with everything.

No changes to WP 3.5 really effect this theme. There are some little stylistic improvements that can be made to the Theme Options page to go with WP 3.5 admin style updates, but they’re so minor I’m holding them off until the next big update to the theme.

Live demo is currently running WP 3.5: http://themeblvd.com/demo/swagger

I have hit a weird problem. When building a custom layout the Post Grid Paginated object (with default settings) works fine and displays appropriately on the front end BUT …. using Post List Paginated doesn’t display any articles (again using default settings). Pagination buttons show up, but no articles.

This is strange. Any ideas how I could fix this?

Cheers

ThemeBlvd

Hello,

That is strange, indeed, but I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of that one before. So I can’t give you any general troubleshooting tips. Can I see a link to your site so I can see exactly what you’ve setup?

I am still building the site but you can check out http://www.targettrek.com Password: ridefast (to get access)

Using postlist on the news page (http://targettrek.com/news) but it isn’t showing any articles (should display articles in news category)

These two articles should appear but dont: http://targettrek.com/news/first-news-article/ http://targettrek.com/news/article-on-news-number-two/

Any ideas? Would appreciate your help.

many thanks

ThemeBlvd

Aw, ok. I must have misunderstood the issue. I thought you said the pagination buttons were showing, but no posts, which would be odd. But you just have no posts showing, and so it just looks like you may have missed something simple.

Are you sure you’ve selected the category properly under the options of your “Post List” in the Builder with your “newnews” custom layout? Is it possible you’re getting this mixed up with another set of options somewhere else in the theme or possibly getting custom layouts mixed up?

Also note that you can quickly setup a Post List page by applying the “Post List” page template to a page and not using the Layout Builder, as well. —https://vimeo.com/32754998

I’m sure there’s a quick explanation. If you want, you can send me a login to your WP admin through the contact form here: http://themeforest.net/user/ThemeBlvd

ThemeBlvd

Ok, so the problem was that for some reason, you emptied the file “content-list.php” of the theme? This file displays each post when a Post List is displayed. However, when I went to Appearance > Editor, the file was there, but it was completely empty. I pasted the content that’s supposed to be in there from my copy of the theme, and now you’ll see everything is working as it should.

Thank you very much!

Maybe when I uploaded the files not everything copied across in full?

I notice also there is no excerpt field on my post forms. Is this right?

Arrgh. It’s the first (and last time) I’m using GoDaddy. I usually use another host.

Thank you for your help Jason you’ve been an amazing help.

Cheers!

Is 1.1.5 still the latest update to this theme? Has it been tested for WP 3.5 compatibility? Thanks!

ThemeBlvd

Yup, v1.1.5 is the most recent version of the theme and it has been tested with WP 3.5. You should be good to go. I’ve been working with WP 3.5 for a couple months now, and following along with everything.

Here’s a couple of questions before I crash for the night.

How can I reduce the margin above and below the logo?

Is there a youtube video shortcode?

Can Call Now: XXXXXX on top right be made bigger without affecting other elements?

Thanks for making such a nice and baby-easy theme.

ThemeBlvd
Is there a youtube video shortcode?

You don’t need one. With WordPress, you just put the URL to the YouTube video into your post/page and it will display automatically.

These kinds of things are outside of the scope of the options available to you and are customizations you’d need to make.

For CSS changes, it’s a good idea to use a tool like firebug or Google Chrome’s built-in developer tools to locate them and then put the edits either in your child theme or in the “Custom CSS” option on your theme options page.

#branding #header_content { ... }
#branding .header-text { … }

Also, here’s a helpful tutorial on how to use Firebug – http://vimeo.com/20917974. The only thing I’d suggest not doing is actually making edits to the theme’s CSS files, as it shows at the end of that video. However, the video serves as a good introduction to Firebug and how it can be used to find what CSS is effecting certain areas of your site without ever digging around in any files.

Hello, It seems like there are items missing in swagger_full.xml and swagger_widgets.json Also how on earth do you stop the page titles from appearing on each page? Thanks, PS Really like all your themes! :)

ThemeBlvd

Hello,

There’s nothing missing I don’t think. The 3rd-party plugin for importing the widgets is just sort of hit or miss sometimes. If you watch the video where I show how to do everything with the demo data I talk a little about it with explaining how if you don’t do whatever little detail (I can’t remember exactly now), not all widgets will get inserted.

What widget areas can you not figure out what widgets to put in from looking at the live demo?

And when you’re editing a page, there is a section called “Page Options”—There is an option here to hide the title on the current page. Is that not working? Or did you just miss that?

Thanks, I didn’t scroll down far enough to ever see page options. Yeah its probably a upload problem. It was the footer widgets but its okay. I’m just learning. Thanks for the quick help!

Hello,

No, apologies, but the theme doesn’t provide any design for sticky posts.

Hi i’m having massive issues. Basically, long story short, my website got hacked, and since then, i’ve moved my host to a new one and trying to shift all of my content over.

Now, when i try to activate the theme i get this error

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-content/themes/swagger/framework/frontend/functions/general.php on line 801

How do i fix it, i’ve tried a fresh install of WP then added swagger back, but then when i get an xml fatal error when i try to load up my old content.

please help, i’ve been on this for the last month and it’s driving me insance.

thanks in advnace.

ThemeBlvd

Hello,

Don’t worry; this should be easy to fix. All it means is that most likely when you transferred the data, your custom layouts did not go through correctly. That warning would just mean that it’s trying to loop through the elements of the layout currently set as your homepage, but the layout doesn’t fully exist.

Simply go to the Builder section of your WP admin after you’ve activated the theme, and edit your homepage layout. Put your elements in there and re-save the layout.

Cool, but I’m happy to try and just use the default elements.. I tried installing a fresh wp and the swagger theme, but I still get that warning, any suggestions? Thanks in advanced and merry Xmas

ThemeBlvd

I don’t think you’re following. There are no default elements… The warning is from the theme trying to loop through a layout that has been set as your homepage that is incomplete. So I don’t think you can just install the theme and WordPress and get this warning.

Link me to example where you’re getting this warning.

Hello, I just wanted to point out a potential bug. If you have two pages (‘pages,’ not ‘posts’) on a Wordpress site that have the same name and attempt to have their own custom widget area within “Appearance >> Custom Widget Areas”, the site gets ‘confused’ and will refuse to recognize the 2nd widget for the 2nd page.

For instance, if I have two pages: cars.com/new-cars/honda and cars.com/used-cars/honda, the site will find this to be unacceptable because both pages are named ‘honda’ [regardless of the fact that they are nested in different areas and are entirely different pages] and will refuse to recognize the custom widget created on that 2nd page.

Is there any way this can be rectified so that we can have two pages with the same name under different subcategories?

ThemeBlvd

Hello,

Yes you are correct. With how things are setup currently, the theme uses the page slug to assign the widget areas. And with WordPress conditionals when you call for example:

if( is_page('page-slug') )

... It’s expecting the page slug to be something unique.

So, currently with how the the theme is setup, there’s really no way around this. However, in the next update to the theme, there is an input box that you can input your own custom conditional, so in your case, you’ll be able to handle what you’re trying to do.

http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags

So what could you do now?—An alternate approach you could take is to just ditch the theme’s widget area manager all together. Use one sidebar and within your individual widgets, take advantage of the widget logic plugin.

Here’s a video I did to the widget logic awhile back that kind of just introduces you to what it is: https://vimeo.com/20159211

You could just do something like:

'1' == $post->post_parent

Where ‘1’ would be the ID of the parent page of your group of child pages. Or you could do something like this:

is_page( array( 1, 2, 3 ) )

Where 1, 2, and 3 are the numerical ID’s of your pages you want that widget to appear on.

Thanks – I might have to wait for the update. My site is pretty sophisticated in the sense that it has MANY pages, every single one of them has an individual custom widget, and there’s no way to turn back.

This isn’t a huge problem but more of an inconvenience – I had to get around it by throwing another keyword into the URL for those secondary pages that would have had the same URL name. It’s kind of dumb how Wordpress never thought that people would ever have more than one page slug of the same name nested in different areas.
