Missing style sheet error when installing the theme

A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a “Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme. This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly. Luckily, there is a very easy fix.

When you create a new slider based on RevSlider, you need to set up the “Troubleshooting” panel from the slider page(Revolution Slider->Your Slider settings). The option has to be set as “Output Filters Protection: By Compressing Output”.

I want to use Visual Composer when creating portfolio items. How can I do that?

You need to activate Visual Composer for Portfolio. Go to Settings->Visual Composer and select “portfolio” from the list. Save. Now you should see the Visual Composer button on portfolio items and you`ll be able to build portfolio items as you do with pages.

How can I update my Sympathique theme to a newer version?

Before updating the theme, make sure to backup your current theme, located at “wp-content/themes/sympathique”, using a FTP program. Also, make sure to backup the theme options too. Go to Appearance->Theme Options->Backup Options and click on “Backup Options” button. Then save the code from “Transfer Theme Options Data” box in a document file, so you can use it later, in case you encounter any problems along the way.

There are more ways to update the theme.

1. Manually, via WordPress Dashboard
Download the Sympathique package from ThemeForest and unzip it. Deactivate the current sympathique theme and then delete it from the wp dashboard. Upload the new sympathique.zip theme version(Appearance->Themes->Add New button), located in the “Sympathique Theme” folder and activate it.

2. Manually, via FTP
Download the Sympathique package from ThemeForest and unzip it. Navigate to “Sympathique Theme” folder, unzip the “sympathique.zip” archive and upload the “sympathique” folder to “wp-content/themes/” using a FTP program(i.e. FileZilla). Make sure to rename/delete the old sympathique theme from wp-content/themes, folder before uploading the new version.

3. Automatically, via Envato WordPress Toolkit plugin(Recommended)

Download the Envato WordPress Toolkit: https://github.com/envato/envato-wordpress-toolkit and upload it to “wp-content/plugins/” folder using a FTP program. Then follow this guide to set up the plugin: http://goo.gl/wfzSbH Once you do that, you can automatically update the theme to the latest version.

After the theme update is done, you`ll be asked to update the current plugins(RevolutionSlider and Visual Composer) to their latest versions. Make sure to do that too, in order to finish the updating process.
