Great theme!
Will the future versions allow us to customize the Gallery? I would like to make it look like the homepage Portfolio (http://www.themeblvd.com/demo/arcadian/)
And I’ve also had issues with the portfolio not displaying 3 images on the bottom row after scrolling down and then back up. (http://osnapclick.com/portfolio/weddings/).
I noticed this with the demo site linked above too. I’m running Firefox 9.0.1
No, I have no plans for that.
I see what you mean. This appears to only be an issue in Firefox and I will definitely look into it.
This is proving to be a difficult things to fix with the responsiveness of the theme.
If you put this into the Custom CSS option on your theme options page, does it fix the issue for you?
.tj_container .one_fourth li {height: 146px;}Yes it does! Thanks for the quick response.
Ok, great. Working over here, too. What this means I’ll need to have specific heights figured out for every potential location the portfolio module could end up within the theme. So, I’ll have this setup for the next update.
Love the theme!
Good Day:
I really like your theme and I just switched over from using another theme. The issue I am having is that I use Max Landing plugin for creating my landing pages. Once I switched over to your theme my landing pages do not format properly. http://rdzmedia.com/eventguide/ As you can see the form that is usually on the right of the image and headline is now below the image.
I uninstalled the plugin then loaded your theme and reactivated the plugin but I keep getting the same look.
My only other option is to use the theme for the landing pages but as you noticed Max landing pages removes the menu and header logos which is why I like to use it.
Any assistance appreciated.
Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with the plugin or how it works.
I’m really sorry to hear you’re having problems. We strive to use all of the most modern code practices in order for our themes to work as well with what’s out there in the WordPress community as possible. However there are an infinite amount of WordPress plugins out there and we simply cannot guarantee that all 3rd-party plugins will work perfectly with each theme we create. This is just the reality of mixing different themes and different plugins. Not everything is going to work perfectly together, and it’s possible that you may have to do some tweaks on your end to get the desired results you want for your site.
Our support policy: http://themeblvd.com/support/
Is there a way that I can remove the header from showing up in a custom layout?
If that is possible then I can tweak those landing pages to use that custom layout and the look will be very close to the Max Plugin look.
I want the landing pages to be without a menu and the header logo.
Sorry there is nothing built-in to the theme to allow you to do this with custom layouts. These would code customizations you’d nee to make from your child theme. See the Code Customizations section of your docs for a map of all the hooks used in these places.
great theme… what is the font used in the header for Arcadian?
Can you tell me where I can put some jquery code to handle some mouseovers in a custom template. I need to define my actions in the document.ready function
Here’s the guide to adding your own javascript in. You’d do what’s described here from your child theme. http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_enqueue_script
(See the docs for a video on child themes)
Hi I noticed that in IE7 the menu displays vertically instead of horizontally. Do you have a fix for this?
Sorry but as shown in the Item Details, this theme is not compatible with IE7 .
Ok. Thank you. Hopefully, it’s just our company who is backward enough to still be using an outdated browser.
Good Day: Please help me fix the problem I try to install the template and WordPress says missing file The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css style sheet. Theme install failed Thanks in advance
You’re tying to install the entire zip package you downloaded from ThemeForest, but you need to install the theme found inside.
This video will walk you through the installation process:
http://vimeo.com/16681463Hi Would it be easy to make the slider area smaller so that I could add a widget area to the right of it? What files would I need to edit to achieve this? Thanks in advance.
What “slider area” are you referring to? Can you be more specific?
Hi. The main flex slider area that fits the width of the theme. I’d like to make this smaller so that I can have a widget positioned to the right of it.
There is no slider area. I think you’re talking about the “Featured” area of the layout builder. A slider is simply going to be as wide as whatever container it sits in. Why not just use the colums element with the slider shortcode in one column and a floating widget area in the other.
That’s what I needed. Great. this really is a flexible theme. Thank you.
Hi,
First of all a great flexible theme and overall it seems to be working well with our website. However, I have currently configured my blogs to have two columns. This causes the post excerpt to now show up unless I change the settings to show full post. The excerpts were showing fine till I added the column shortcodes.
Please check out my blog at (http://www.swimdama.org/blog/)
I am using the following two shortcodes in my blog layout:
[one_third last] Fun Facts …. [one_third]
I’m sorry I’m kind of lost at what your’e trying to describe. Can you configure the settings to show the excerpt so I can see the actual problem?
This is the original Post (http://www.mcfornc.org/swimteam/?p=64). I created two columns within the post using the column functionality that you have provided in the blog.
Check out the post excerpt: http://www.mcfornc.org/swimteam/blog/ There is no excerpt showing up.
Shortcodes I am using for that particular blog page: & [one_third last]............[/one_third]
Hopefully this helps.
Thanks, Deep
Maybe WordPress can’t generate an excerpt automatically from what you’re putting into the post. Did you try manually writing excerpts?
I love this theme and am using it for my B&B website. But I am having a problem with IE8 the menu on the top is showing up vertically not on the band at the top?
by the way I am also using your alyeska theme for a new group web site. You do great work and I love your tutorials, they make it so easy.
Thank you for your help. Victoria Inn on Poplar Hill
I believe that’s IE7 , which the theme isn’t compatible with. Please post a link to your site and I can confirm.
Yup, you’re using IE7 in that screenshot. This is what your site looks like in IE8 :
Thank you for your quick response. You are right that was IE7 is there a fix other than telling people to upgrade their old browsers.
Thank you Victoria
Sorry I’m not really sure what you mean. Can you be more specific?
I will try… On the Alyeska theme, when view it from a iphone the navigation menu at the top becomes a spinner. I love this it is so easy to use. On this theme on the iphone the menu is boxes, down the screen, it works fine, but i like the spinner thing in your other theme. Is it possible to put something in the Arcadian theme to do this?
Keep up the great work. Victoria
Put this in the custom CSS option on your theme options page.
@media (max-width: 480px) { #access {display:none;} .responsive-nav {display:block;padding:5px 5px 15px 5px;text-align:center;} }Hi,
This seems like it should be easy to solve, but I cannot figure out how to override the default body background settings to use a new image. Nothing I add to the custom.css file of my child theme, or using the Wordpress background setting seems to work. How do I do this?
Thanks.
I apologize for the confusion with the background control. This page showing at all in your admin panel is a bug in the theme that’s been fixed for the next update.
==========
For CSS changes, it’s a good idea to use a tool like firebug or Google Chrome’s built-in developer tools to locate them and then put the edits either in your child theme or in the “Custom CSS ” option on your theme options page.
Also, here’s a helpful tutorial on how to use Firebug – http://vimeo.com/20917974. The only thing I’d suggest not doing is actually making edits to the theme’s CSS files, as it shows at the end of that video. However, the video serves as a good introduction to Firebug and how it can be used to find what CSS is effecting certain areas of your site without ever digging around in any files.
==========
#top { ... } #featured { ... } #main { ... } #bottom { ... }Yes, I use Chrome’s developer. I didn’t know I had to give each separate section its own background css. Thanks.
Every website design is different, and that’s why those tools are so useful. In this design, each horizontal section has different background images so it wouldn’t be possible for it to all be just attached to the body tag.
I appreciate your help. I have another issue now. The site I’m creating has a long way to go (http://jefflilley.com/haus96/) but I noticed that when I resize it the navigation text doesn’t decrease in size like in the demo, nor does it it turn into a dropdown menu when when even smaller, which I’d like it to do.
Also, the image there doesn’t resize proportionally when resized.
Any help you can provide with these issues would be great. Thanks.
This is due to the custom CSS you’re adding. In your custom.css file you’re adjusting the styles of the buttons, which comes after the theme has styled them for mobile devices. So that overwrites things. I know you’re copying the CSS from the theme’s files, but you need to be careful what you’re copying there. If you’re going to take this approach, you could also I guess copy what’s in the responsive.css file, as well to come after what you have in custom.css.
And your images not re-sizeing properly is because you’re putting in a height/width on your HTML . Read here under the Image Example: http://www.themeblvd.com/demo/arcadian/features/responsive-design/
Yikes, I guess this isn’t going to work. As easy as this is to do, it doesn’t really seem reasonable to tell my client they have to go in and get rid if the html image dimensions every time they post an image when I’ve seen plenty of responsive themes where images are resized proportionally without any code manipulation. Sorry, I really like the theme, but this is a big drawback. I hope you look into that.
Hey, try putting in the Custom CSS option of your theme options page:
img { max-width: 100%; width:auto!important; height:auto!important; }Now insert an image with WordPress’s method of adding height/width. Does that work on your end?
Hi, I am looking for a way to get my logo to be displayed left justified instead of being centered. Is there an easy way to pull this off? Thanks, CONTRAST

First of all, love the site, and love your other sites. Not a first time purchaser to ThemeBlvd. As a friend and I laughed the other night, “I love his backend” haha. Us creatives can find that funny…
Anyways, only issue I’ve been having is that apparently when accessing the theme (viewing or working on in the dashboard), the site seems to open a large amount of connections and has been getting us banned at on our server. Afraid the same issue may happen to our client when they view the site when it goes live. I’m obviously also working with our server company on lifting some of their firewall restrictions, but wanted to notify you incase this issue is existing for other users or if you know of a fix. My only thought was the extra connections (usually 6) are being opened due jquery sliders, or other ajax functions. It’s getting really frustrating for us to have to keep calling our host and have them unban our IP address every 15-60 mins when working on the site.
Thanks in advance!
Hey, I’m not really sure what to tell you on that one. In the few cases people told me they were having problems somewhat similar to what you’re describing, so far every time it’s been something to do with how they have mod_security setup on their server. This seems not play well with a lot of the theme’s AJAX , but I’m not sure what I can do about that without cutting all of the cool functionality out of the theme. Most people don’t have any problems.
Thanks! If you happen to hear about any changes they are making to their mod_security, please let me know. I can’t get the company were renting a server from to up any of the restrictions, so if there is anything I can do on my end or relay to them it’d be appreciated!
First of all, if you just disable mod security, all of that goes away, however I understand many hosts feel really strongly that you should have it running.
So in the other cases, what it seems the other people were able to do is just call their web host and ask them to check their error logs for the times they’re getting any 500 internal errors, and the hosts are able to just quickly see what’s causing the issue for their particular setup and write in rules to make sure those specific errors don’t keep happening. Have you tried actually talking with your host to look at the specific errors happening?
I’ll check with my biz partner and see if he’s more familiar with editing or removing those files. I do the front end stuff
We’ve been dealing with this problem with our server company for the past 6 days with little luck. They keep banning our IP due to Port Scanning which they say is such a vague reason, they can’t really diagnos it. We are on a reseller linux, not a VPS .
Is there any option to resize images used in the 3D carousel slider or do they take their sizing from the original media size?
If based on the original file size, what size is used in your demo on this site under the Sample Layout>Portfolio Homepage?
Thanks Matt
When you upload an image after the theme is installed it gets cropped into all of the different sizes the theme uses. See on the Item Details page under where it says “Image Sizes” and lists all of the image crop sizes.
Specifically for the carousel, the size that gets used is the one called “1/3 Column of Grid” which is 320×200.
Read here for more info image sizes and changing them: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-blvd-image-sizes/
Just curious.. I just purchased your software, and am in the process of building my site. Last night when i went to WP dashboard, and clicked on appearance, click on Theme Option. The only part of screen i see is save options. WHich makes the screen useless. I ONLY have this problem with IE 9 , and do not have problem with Safari or Chrome. Don’t know if its a problem for others, or if its a WP problem. Just want to report it.
Hi I’m not honestly not sure what could be happenning on your end. I just double checked Arcadian’s theme options in IE9 and everything is working fine for me. Here’s what I see in IE9 on Windows 7:
