Discussion on The Curator: Premier WP Timeline Theme for Artists

Hello, congratulations for this theme! Very beautiful, just awesome. Kind regards, E.

theMOLITOR

Thanks!

Another stunning theme. Kudos! I noticed in your FAQs that the timeline can only be structured by times not for instance categories. I would love to utilize this theme both as a traditional timeline and for the timeline of a novel with chapters instead of dates and the ability to click through to sections of the novel. Possible without visiting your customization department?

Thanks!

You can turn off the divider and post anything you like :-)

Chris

WOW ! bookmarked!

I have a timeline-type project I’m developing in wordpress. This theme would be perfect. I have one problem though: I can’t get my wordpress posts to accept a date prior to 1970. Does your theme fix this limitation or is it an issue I should take up with my hosting provider? Many thanks.

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

I didn’t have any issues setting posts to dates in the 1400s, so you might want to look into that on your end. Sorry.

Thanks!

Chris

Looks nice! Can you reverse the order so the most recent items show up first? Or would you just do that by manipulating the publish dates?

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

This is a very easy edit and I’ve provided step-by-step instructions on my support forums.

Thanks!

Chris

Hi there, thinking about this theme. Can you just leave out the time line feature. and have the slide instead?

theMOLITOR

Yes :-) Check out the video walk-through for details.

Chris

Hi Chris

I was wondering if the timeline year tabs can be turned off so it does not show? Or can the numbers be substituted for text?

Also What is the maximum number of thumbnails can the scrolling handle? I have about 175 images. Do you think it can handle his many on the scrolling timeline?

Thanks

theMOLITOR

Yes, you can turn them off. Check out the video walk-through for details.

Regarding number of items, you can load any number of items you want. You might experience long load times (due to all the images), but it should work just fine after it is loaded.

Thanks!

Chris

I have no use for this atm, but wishes that I did, This is beautiful work…bookmarked for future

theMOLITOR

Thanks! I appreciate that :-)

instead of photos – can the timeline link to individual pages?

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

Anything beyond what you see in the item description, demo site and video walk-through would be considered a customization. You can submit a request for customizations here: http://themolitor.com/custom

Thanks!

Chris

Hi, I installed the Curator on WP 3 .4.1 and get this error Fatal error: Invalid hex length in /nfs/c10/h03/mnt/151158/domains/clients.quangodigital.com/html/quango/wp-content/themes/curator/header.php on line 68

Any advise? thx. looking forward to getting this running. looks great.

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

It sounds like you haven’t specified colors etc on the theme options panel (OptionTree). For support and troubleshooting, please post a thread on my support forums: http://themolitor.com/forums

Thanks!

Chris

Hi,

Very nice theme. Planning to buy it. Some questions.

1. When will you release version that break up timeline by categories? 2. Are you planning to implement lazyload? if not, you think it would be easy to add lazyload?

Thanks in advance!

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

1. Currently no plans.

2. Nope. Lazyload only works when you scroll vertically. It doesn’t work for horizontal loading.

Keep in mind you can submit customization requests here: http://themolitor.com/custom

Thanks!

Chris

Chris,

This is an awesome theme! Anyway, I would also like to use a “contact us” page like in The Curator live preview. Could you help me with this?

And how do I turn off the comment box in the pages?

Thanks!

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

1. There’s a link in the help file to the contact plugin used. It’s called “Contact Form 7”.

2. Please review this FAQ : http://www.themolitor.com/forums/topic/turn-off-comments-in-wordpress

If you have additional questions, please be sure to use my support forums.

Thanks!

Chris

I’m very interested in your design,

system works great and looks good on the iPad. I’m curious how difficult it would be to take this and implement it inside another website? Is the code spread inside several different sheets? Also how difficult would it be to make the paintings/entries on the timeline when clicked open up a detailed information frame instead of a lightbox picture? I want an info frame something like seen on this portoflio theme : http://themeforest.net/item/wowway-interactive-responsive-portfolio-theme/full_screen_preview/2374321

I know CSS and HTML but i’m very new to PHP , Ajax, and the like, so i may need to hire freelance for this job, i’m just curious how doable it is.

very much look forward to hearing from you, thanks

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

1. It’s a WordPress theme, so it wouldn’t work well inside a separate site.

2. Those edits are crazy to do but would require the help of a developer. You can submit customization requests like this here: http://themolitor.com/custom

Hope that helps!

Chris

Do you know of any issues that would cause the site to no longer be visible? The site was fine yesterday and today is a black screen.

Any advice?

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

Did you update the OptionTree plugin? If so, make sure it didn’t get deactivated after updating. If you still have trouble, please post a thread on my support forums and my staff will be happy to troubleshoot with you: http://themolitor.com/forums

Thanks!

Chris

Hi again,

How can I make the homepage just an ordinary page without the timeline?

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

That’s a WordPress feature. Check out the “reading” page under settings. For more info, please visit http://wordpress.org documentation.

Thanks!

Chris

Hiya,

Can the homepage template be used as a subpage template as well? And if so, does the timelime have to be listed in increments of years as on the example template site “1470, 1500, 1510” or could that be titles of projects for example?

Basically as well as using it for the hompage, I would like to set up the homepage template as a subpage, for a gallery of work, and list the timeline in ‘project titles’ not ‘years’.

Thanks,

Austin

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

You can use the home page layout on sub pages, yes, but items can only be broken up by date (not category or project title).

Thanks for your interest!

Chris

The Molitor….man you guys come up with the most rock solid designs! I f@$#%@ lovee this theme!

Pre purchase question.

1) Can you pleaseeeeee make a standalone version? Or will you make a standalone non wordpress version for me?

2) How on earth can I use this for user generated content? You know, where users can upload images to the timeline.

I’m super excited Chris….don’t break my balls. Gimme some good news.

Respectfully :)

theMOLITOR

Thanks! :-)

1. No immediate plans yet, but I’m not opposed to the idea.

2. You might have some luck with a plugin. If not, you can submit a customization request for that here: http://themolitor.com/custom

Best,

Chris

Hi,

Is it possible to set dates in the future, for a fictional timeline?

If so, or if it can be tweaked to make that possible, my money is yours.

Thanks.

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

Yes, there are a couple ways to do that. One method would be to find a plugin that publishes future dates (I’m sure there are a few out there). The second method would be adding a custom function to the theme that does the same thing, but doesn’t require a plugin.

Thanks!

Chris

This is an awesome theme. I have some suggestions that would make it even better. Add scroll wheel and swipe support for the timeline view. And make the masonry thumbnails a bit smaller so 3 columns will fit on iPad. Great theme, thanks! -H

theMOLITOR

Thanks for purchasing! Appreciate the feedback!

Chris

Beautiful theme as usual with your work ! I plan to buy this one for my artistic “work in progress”. I’d like to know if the timeline can be divided by day ? If not, is there a possible paid customization ? Thank you and so long ! I love your Brick & Mason too !

Attic

theMOLITOR

Hi there,

The built-in options for the timeline are year, decade, century and millennium. For any other methods, please submit a request here: http://themolitor.com/custom—and someone from the Werkpress team will be in contact with you.

Thanks!

Chris
