Hi Chris,
Is there a way to add an ajax post load on the timeline? By that I mean new posts are loaded by ajax kinda like facebook but for the curator timeline. Now I don’t have any money for the werkpress guys but I value your input so much. Maybe you can point me in the right direction?
Hi there,
Unfortunately that requires quite a bit of work. My best suggestion would be to use my customization form: http://themolitor.com/custom
Thanks!
Chris
great theme, but why the “target”_blank” – function into the menu doesn`t works?
http://www.proxima-vom-hoellenbrand.eu/thanks
Hi there,
For support, please use my support forums: http://themolitor.com/forums — this is the best way we can attempt to answer questions in the order we receive them.
Thanks!
Chris
I bought your theme. First of all don’t buy it. Luck of information and support. Even for contact page you will have to install a plugin to get this feature. you have to setup your widgets. No information about these widgets what so ever!! you go their help forum and you have to register to see asked questions and answers. not even for asking something even for reading!!! could you please tell me how am I going to show twitter widget and facebook like widget in info panel. I already set the widgets as your documantation says but still no sign of widgets/ and i want to show twitter and facebook widgets in blog page. could you please explain me here! I’m not going to go your forum and register there!!! thanks.
Hi there,
So you’re telling people not to buy this theme because I used plugins and widgets in the demo? Isn’t that why WordPress is so awesome? Plugins and widgets?
Anyways, I do not provide support here. Only on my support forums. Too many people have abused my free support and tried getting it without purchasing my themes, so I’ve had to require buyers to register. Sorry, but that’s just the way it is and is to be expected with most authors that have a lot of buyers (and pirates).
To be honest, there should be no surprises as I list every feature on the item page and do a complete walk-through of all the theme features. I put a ton of energy into making my themes, writing documentation and providing free support (which costs me a lot of money to have support staff). So I don’t appreciate it much when users tell people not to buy my themes just because I used a plugin and some widgets in my demo site.
Thanks!
Chris
Well Chris, if you want to sell your theme you have to be better than the others. Why on earth a contact page dose not come with the theme? I needed a support I went your help forum and I can’t even see the answers cos I’m not registered user. You have to give support to people who bought your items. you spend money and you earn much more!! Them has luck of support documentation an so on… If I did not know anything about wordpress I would not even get widgets working. The items on Home Page dose not line up from new post to old post. to change this I have to edit hard codes. don’t I? I don’t care if you don’t appreciate it. This is my review. welcome the internet my friends. DO NOT BUY THIS THEME .
Don’t buy this template!!! You can’t set the date prior to 1970s, if the developer doesn’t update to solve this problem, it is useless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi there,
Did you post a thread in my support forums? It is possible, as you can see in the demo, to post prior to 1970 (some items are posted in the 1600s). This may have to do with your particular setup. Please use my support forums and my staff will review.
Thanks!
Chris
Hello, This might be just what need, but a couple of pre purchase questions first to see how much modifications are required.
Can I have more timelines than one?
Can the items in the timeline link to a post/page?
I would need a timeline that can be sortable according to artist and also genre. Can this be done as the theme is now or with some modifications? If with modifications? Can you help? And how much do you charge?
Many thanks and keenly waiting on your response.
Hi there,
1. Yes, you can create unlimited timelines.
2. Each item in the timeline links to the individual post. Once you click the title for more information, you’ll see a link to read more.
3. This would be a customization. You can submit a customization request here: http://themolitor.com/custom
Hope that helps!
Chris
Hi Chris, Thanks for your help so far – can I still clarify? (I did ask re customisation and they said it was not possible, but there is a chance they did not quite understand what I meant…)
Re the sortability. If I was to assign one post to let’s say three different categories – abstract art – Artist Name – and All Art – and then create three pages with three different timelines each callign for a different post category – that particular image from the post would show up in all three timelines?
I am sorry if I have confused you, but my client needs a site where the artwork is shown in timeline type fashion according to a few tags / categories.
Many thanks!
Oh – and since there have been negative comments about not being able to set dates prior to 1970, is that still an issue (I know your demo site shows them) as I need dates going back to early 1900s
Many thanks!
Hi there,
Regarding categories, yes, you can assign a post to multiple categories and it will appear in each timeline you have setup.
Regarding dating, the user with pre-1970 issues hasn’t shared his details, so I can only assume it had to do with his particular setup. As you mentioned, the demo site is running the default setup of the theme with no issues.
Hope that helps!
Chris
Is there any way the timeline can show BCE dates?
Hi there,
That isn’t a built-in feature. Mainly due to a limitation with the WordPress dating system. Please keep in mind that you can submit a customization request here: http://themolitor.com/custom
Thanks!
Chris
Thanks Chris. It was just a wild hope that there may be a way round it. The theme would be perfect for me if it were possible. I’ll ask Werkpress and see what they think.
Hello,
Is there a way to show something other than the lightbox photo when someone clicks a photo from the timeline? Just want to make sure before purchasing.
thanks
Hi there,
There isn’t a built-in option to display something other than the image. What did you have in mind? Remember, you can submit customization requests here: http://themolitor.com/custom
Thanks!
Chris
Hi, I would like to know if the timeline for the date I put the name of the artist and his paintings? I would like to share a timeline divided into a number of artists. Which version of WordPress is designed for this template?
Regards Paul
Hi there,
The timeline is currently only separated by date. This theme will always work on the current version of WordPress, which is 3.4 as I write this now.
Thanks!
Chris
Hey I want to clear few things about the template: 1. Is it possible that I have timeline on various category pages – Sports, Music, Photography and on homepage the timeline slider shows the aggregate of all posts?
2. Is it possible that on the time line when I click on the image insted of showing pop up of the image it just slides up just like when you click on the heading
3. I also want to know that when the homepage loads does it load all the images at once or does it load the images as we are scrolling horizontally. I want to know because my timeline will be very long with loads of images.
Kind Regards
Hi there,
1. Yes, this is easy to do with this theme
2. That wouldn’t be too tricky of an update.
3. It loads everything like a normal site.
Thanks!
Chris
Thanks for the answers.. Purchased
I ‘ve got a question to do Molitor.
Is this template localizable? Basically i need this in Greek Language…
Thanks
Hi there,
Currently it is not. All features are listed on the item page.
Thanks!
Chris
Tip for Developer and Users:
This theme jquery-ui.js need to be updated to v1.9, to works in the new Wordpress 3.5
Hi there,
Thanks for providing feedback. I haven’t seen any issues, but I’ll check it out.
Thanks!
Chris
One easy question, how do i setup the blog page?
Thanks and good work¡
Hi there,
If you need additional support, please use my support forums: http://themolitor.com/forums
Thanks!
Chris
Hi again,
About to purchase the theme as werkpress has confirmed they can do required modifications for the major art collection site project at hand.
As I can’t see this from the demo site – can the full timeline (displaying all items) be placed on other page than home? The client needs an entry type home page and then the timeline displayed on full width page on another page. So to confirm you have a full width page template as well or do I need to modify the theme and create that? Thanks
Hi there,
You can display the timeline on category pages. To have an all inclusive timeline like the home page, just make a parent category and link to that in the menu. Should work just fine
Thanks!
Chris
Just installed the theme and get this error: Fatal error: Invalid hex length in /home/antipode/public_html/wp-content/themes/curator/header.php on line 64
and this:
Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Invalid arguments passed in /home/antipode/public_html/wp-content/themes/curator/index.php on line 21
What to do?
—> UPDATE: warnings seem to have disappeared after saving some timeline relating options.Hi there,
Thanks for providing an update. Yes, those errors related to the theme options data being empty. When you save the theme options, that populates the theme options data, removing those errors.
If you run into additional issues, please use my support forums: http://themolitor.com/forums
Thanks!
Chris
I watched the YouTube video. How do you get the blog page to display posts? I created a page called blog but cannot figure out how to display posts.
Will there be an ability to display the blog in a traditional format. The Timeline I want to use for some historical notes, but want a general blog to be a big focus that has nothing to do with the timeline.
Thank you.
Hi there,
After you create a blog post and assign it to your blog category, just add the category link to the menu. You do not need to create a page for the blog.
If you have additional questions, please use my support forum: http://themolitor.com/forums
Thanks!
Chris
Any plans to make this theme touch friendly? Plan on buying anyways now, but would love to be able to scroll sideways on touch screens right now the only way is using the timeline dragger.
Hi there,
You can still click the left/right side of the screen to scroll too. As of now, I’m not aware of a method to make the jQuery UI library work with touch interaction.
Thanks!
Chris
Hi, Is there any way get the caption to show up below the image without clicking? Thanks.
Hi there,
The title of the post displays below the image. If that isn’t sufficient, you can submit a customization request to arrange the layout how you like: http://themolitor.com/custom
Thanks!
Chris
Another question, what is the character limit on a timeline image title that would display cleanly on the timeline?
Hi there,
The space available for the title depends on how wide the image is. If the title runs longer than the width of the image, the excess text will be replaced with … (ellipsis).
Thanks!
Chris
So basically the limit is one line with spillover getting the ”...”? Anyway to expand the one line to more than one for all the images?
Hi there,
Because images vary in size so much, there isn’t an approach that I liked from a design perspective that had text on two lines. Visually it’s very ugly to see that title space tall on one item and then short on another. Ewww. Gross.
That said, you’re welcome to submit requests for customizations here: http://themolitor.com/custom
Thanks!
Chris
Hi,
I desperately need help!
This is a site I had set up for one of my clients about 5 months ago. It worked just fine. Now, without us changing anything at all on the site, the timeline scroll has simply stopped working! WordPress version has not been upgraded either.
You can see the site at http://www.overtheyears.taoartgallery.com/
Would a theme update help? I will also post the same question on your support forum, just in case you check that more often that the comments here.
Please help me out!
Hi there,
For support, please proceed to my support forums: http://themolitor.com/forums—I don’t provide support in the comments here.
Thanks!
Chris
Hey Chris, Thanks a lot, but I didn’t post the query on your support forum as I managed to fix the error. I just had to upgrade to your latest version of the theme! - Aparna.
Thanks for following up!
To add to my earlier question, there are absolutely no error messages that I could spot anywhere on the site.
