The Developer - Responsive WordPress Theme

New Version available ? which is fully WP 3 .2 compatible ?

Please add a Version-Information on the top level in your file hierarchy

In the moment it’s pretty hard to check if an update would be usefull

(I’m using the-developer-wp3-edition.zip which I had downloaded in November 2010 !)

once i had bought this theme i then tried to install it an encountered some problems. I compressed the folder to a .zip file and then uploaded it but it said style sheet is missing. How is this possible? I have uploaded all of the files. If you can help please reply!

for some weird reason i am getting 404 errors with every page i visit using this theme. I don’t get them using any other theme? can anybody help with this?

Hey I know you have made it clear you offer minus zero support but since wp 3.1 came out the Page Template 2 has never been the same – not showing the thumbs. have you updated this / plan to or have a solution other than not use page template 2?

Nevermind – if you even bother reading comments that is. I fixed it myself. If anyone else wants the fixed code let me know if you can’t get anything from the OP, it was just page_style2.php that needed to be fixed.

Will someone direct me to the help forum where I can learn how to fix the problem myself?

Love the theme but I have a couple of issues.

A) I’m not sure how to edit the home page. In your help file you mention a template called “frontpage” but the only template I see is “Home Page” which seems to be a bit different.

The sidebar menu “The Developer” does not have a setting to change the tagline (text to the right of the featured image).

C) I cam not sure the menus work? I can’t seem to get a “top Navigation” menu and a “Primary Menu” at the same time?

D) The home page, this may be a simple Word Press question but I can’t seem to edit the home page. Where would I add a featured image if there isn’t a page named “home” on the back end of the site?

Please if you can answer any of these questions it would be much appreciated.

I’m not seeing any way to modify the home page in the latest WP3 release.

Can you please note how to do it, we’re all a little lost here and losing valuable project launch time.

Oh well. I think I’ll be looking for a refund as the theme isn’t working as advertised.

you should ask for a refund

if a person sells a product that is not working as advertised, i think that is considered as faulty, and by law you should get a refund

sellers should be made to fix issues with themes, and themeforest should not be selling faulty themes by sellers who do not provide support

i think this is a VERY serious issue, and reading comments here i can see the huge amount of stress this causes buyers

buyers need to stick up for themselves.

Was about to purchase the theme as the demo looks good but changed my mind after reading the comments.

The theme looks great but it’s a real shame that you can’t really customise it – the theme is very restrictive unless you want it do do EXACTLY what the demo site does. I would urge the developer to expand it so that you can change colours scheme and add more options for the header content.

Hello, For those of you experiencing frustration when attempting to edit the tagline to the right of the image, just click on Pages on the left side in your WordPress dashboard. Then, in the upper right of the screen, look for SCREEN OPTIONS . Click on Screen Options. Then, make sure Custom Fields is checked. Then, simply go to edit your home page, by hovering over the word HOME in your pages section. You will see the popup menu. Click on EDIT . There, you will see the text area of the home page, and right under it, the custom field section will now be visilbe. Simply type in what you want to say in that field. Update page. You are done. If not clear, please post back. Chris Caldwell

Yes, still unsure on how to make the Home page default to the index page. I have the ‘Home’ to Home Page but it does not appear on the home page at all.

Please help, I have a important deadline to meet.

I wish I would have read the comments and the guy who does not support his own product.. He already made lots of money off this product and does not support it? That is not right. I requested a refund. End of Story!

If ANYONE has the answer on how to make the “home” Page the actual homepage after importing the dummy contents, PLEASE post. I think it’s ridiculous that the developer can sell something, then not expect to answer any questions about the product. If you go to his “support” forum, the first post talks about how he provides no support. If you try to register to ask a question anyway, the site produces an error. I can respect not wanting to be inundated with questions about how to customize a theme design, etc., but sometimes support requests are legitimate and should be answered. If you make money from a product, you should expect to support that product. Your theme is NOT well documented considering your instructions for how to set the homepage are incorrect, as they refer to a “frontpage” theme. If you aren’t going to answer questions, at least make sure your documentation is up to-date.

I was able to solve the problem of getting the text on the main page changed using chriscaldwells suggestion of modifying the tag. After mucking around with the template, it’s really quite a decent product – but I agree with this whole no support junk. Who goes into business selling templates and then won’t provide support ?

To change the itunes graphic on the main page I just went via FTP into the theme folder on word press and uploaded my graphic to the same name as the current one ( btn_appstore_big ) It’s a png file but I used a transparent back ground and it looked sharp.

You can change the main iphone graphic by changing the feature image on the main page.

To change the main page to another page – go into the wordpress settings and then choose reading – you can set which page is the default under the front page displays option.

You can use the page tags to divide up the text so it’s not a big long text box as well. one_half_last You can find these tags in the categorie section.

I was going to buy this theme but after reading the comments I changed my mind. If the theme doesn’t work for the newest version of Wordpress, it makes no sense buying it for me.
