Hi, Your Amazing theme is now WPML ready ?
As of v1.5.0, The Navigator is translation ready (i.e. localized). The WPML plugin hasn’t been tested, but I believe WPML have support staff if you have issues with their plugin.
Hello, thank you for improoving the theme.
As this is a navagation guide, are you going to include the possibility to autofind the user location and also based on his location to create a route to a destination point?
Please be sure to post any feature requests you have here: http://www.themolitor.com/forums/topic/feature-requests-1
I review this thread each time I work on an update to explore ideas.
we’ve setup a successful map-based website using a different theme , but have run into some issues now that there are more than 300+ listing on the maps.
What I would like to know is this: Does ‘Navigator’ serve markers dynamically based on user starting position? In other words, if I am in Sydney, Australia and the default zoom level is set so only this part of the world is shown on the initial page load, would only the markers in view be loaded? As the user navigated to different areas the markers should load dynamically, just like they would in a typical google maps search -is this dynamic approach supported by ‘Navigator’?
Also, could custom map markers be used based on different post types?
Any comments you can provide are much appreciated – we’ve been searching for a solution to this for some time & are keen to move forward with it.
1. The most recently published location/post/pin is what the map focuses on when the home page loads.
2. Yes, custom markers are supported on a post-by-post basis. There’s a custom field that let’s you provide the URL to the image you would like to use for the map pin.
Hope that helps!
I’m curious to know if I’d be able to post sound files ( .wav or .aiff or linked from SoundCloud) in the map pins/ posts deatiled fields… are those accordians just html content?
My client is asking if video and sound files are able to be loaded/embedded per each location.
You can embed content like that in the “details” section, which is controlled by the WordPress post content box on the edit screen. The other accordions are dynamically created by the theme.
Hope that helps.
How i can remove comments option from the page?
Please review this FAQ thread on my support forums: http://www.themolitor.com/forums/topic/turn-off-comments-in-wordpress
I am very interested in purchasing this theme but would like to know if it can support RTL languages such as arabic. Please let me know. Kind regards
The theme is localized, but doesn’t currently include an RTL stylesheet.
i can see in your demo, that locations are collected in post categories. Fine. But is it also possible to create and search locations in more than one category?
For example: I have the category “Cafe” and some entrys in europe and some in america. Is it possible that i define a view for “Cafe” in europe only?
The best method of doing that in WordPress is by making child categories for each of your primary categories. Example: Europe > Cafe
I have been using this theme for years on my successful history website ( http://nyhistoric.com ). I’m still running an old version (just because too lazy to update) but even still.. I, my colleagues, and visitors absolutely LOVE this theme. Kudos to theMOLITOR for creating it… and for giving top-notch support for so many years! Thank you!
I really appreciate the nice remarks!
Hi there, considering purchasing this but have a few questions to check that it meets my needs.
Would it be possible to set the homepage to a category that displays pins at a country level e.g. UK, France, Spain etc. Then link those pins to further categories, for example clicking the UK pin on the homepage would then take you to a new category which is zoomed to the UK and shows a different set of pins made up of the sub-categories under UK. I’d need this to repeat down a couple more levels, would this work?
I guess it boils down to can you show a pin on the map for a category, can you set the zoom level for individual categories and can this be nested multiple times?
Thanks in advance.
1. There is a custom link option that allows you to point pins to anywhere you want. A popular use of this feature is to have pins point to a category/country page.
2. You can assign a specific category of posts to display on the home page map. A popular use of this feature is to display a category of posts where each pin points to a specific category/country page.
3. You can control the zoom level for category pages, but not on an individual basis.
Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
I was using a directory theme with tweaks and plugins to create a map styled UI. It’s been a constant source of problems. I purchased the theme to go the other direction and use a map theme as a directory. My problem is that the listings are custom posts types. There are also regular posts. Before I flip flop them in the DB, is there a simple way to use a custom post type versus post as the source of the map points?
Thanks for purchasing!
Please post a thread on my support forums and I’ll be happy to look into this with you there: http://themolitor.com/forums
I have purchased this theme and received a Purchase Code.
I tried to input the Purchase Code to register the forum and it said
“Invalid purchase code”
Sorry about that!
Go ahead and message me from my profile page and I’ll be happy to review any issues you have.
I really like the theme…But since I had problems with other themes, I need to make sure about some stuff before purchasing…
1 – I need to create new tabs on each item (like “Details”, “Gallery”, “Related”...I want to insert other new ones) and each one with specific information inside… brought from a database… Is it possible to do that?..
Example: – Opening Times
– Monday: 0800 – 1900
– Tuesday: 0900 – 2000
I’d like to import a excel table with various information on each location, and it would be available in the listing, since the same information fields would be in every listing.
2 – Can I put a Weather Layer on google maps API? (like this: http://googlegeodevelopers.blogspot.com/2012/04/weather-layer-now-available-in-google.html)
3 – Can I import the data from a XLS table to the site in order to create the listings?
4 – Can I enable users to modify listings?
5 – Can I enable geolocation, to show the users position on the map?
6 – The search field on the demo website didn’t return with listings… Can it be fixed to do it?
Sorry for so many questions.. I purchased a theme that didn’t to the job and its a pain… hopefully we will make business..the theme is wonderful!
I see you sent an email request with these questions as well. I’ll go ahead and respond to that email with my response.
We want to order template but we have to know something. When on the home page we click on the pin. then we go to detail page and another zoom in map on page. Can we change this map to photo?
If any solution we are going to buy this template.
That’s not a built-in feature, but I can provide instructions for disabling the individual post map on my support forum.
I love the layout of this theme
i have premade maps (google) with paths and polygons to define areas
can these maps be used in the theme?
Thanks for your interest in The Navigator! Currently only the built-in map is supported.
I ordered this theme from you on 23rd January this year (2014). I uploaded it to my server to test to see if this meets my clients requirements. They have finally come back to me but would like it installed on a separate server. I have tried to re-download this from the downloads section but it has disappeared.
Please can you help?
I don’t see a “purchased” banner next to your username. Maybe you used a different account?
I would not guess it is an issue, but have seen any live sites also incorporate WooCommerce on the same install?
one more question…..how does your theme work with Yeost SEO plugin? I just found out with another theme that uses a Content Composer that actually all my text and images are hidden from Yeost thus getting a poor SEO score. My application would be global and I would need maximum SEO.
I haven’t tested those plugins, so I can’t provide a solid confirmation. All I can say is that I haven’t received any support requests regarding those plugins.
In general, all plugins should work just fine as long as they don’t require custom templates created specifically for the plugin to work.
I’m new to working with this kind of a theme. I started watching the video tutorial for this theme and I noticed right away that my theme option doesn’t look like the theme option in the video. I don’t see where I can upload my logo and customize the pins.
As of version 1.6, the theme options are controlled from the Customizer page (appearance > customize).
If you need additional help, please post a thread on my support forum and I’ll be happy to review any issues you have there: http://themolitor.com/forums
I got this message that just popped up one day in the middle of my site that reads:
NOTICE: The image you’re trying to load is located on another domain. to avoid stealing bandwidth, please download the image and upload it to your domain.
What does this mean and how do I get rid of it?
If you see a “NOTICE” message, it means you’re using an image on my hosting/server.
Bandwidth is expensive and has consequences for my business when people who purchase my themes use images on my server. My server use to crash a lot and I realized it was because users were hotlinking my images. As a result, I’ve had to take these measures of replacing the images in hopes to provide some education for users not aware of this.
My advice is to download the images you want and upload them to your own hosting account (via WordPress media upload tool). Then change the URL to the new URL you receive after uploading. If you acquired the image through importing demo content, ALWAYS make sure you click the check box that will download the images (instead of hotlinking them).
I should note that this doesn’t have anything to do with my themes. This is a security measure related to my personal hosting account.
Looking to purchase this theme have a quick question. Can the pin’s be set up that when they are clicked instead of taking the user to a map page it takes to a full width blog page?
That’s not a built-in feature, but you can submit customization requests like that here: http://themolitor.com/custom
So the pin can ONLY link to the map?
Just to clarify, the purpose of the theme is to showcase locations, so clicking pins on the map will take you to a details page for that location.
If you want to link to a different page than the details page for that location, it will require some custom dev work.
