Sorry to keep bombing this discussion, but I finally figured out the problem!

If the title of the posts are longer than one line, everything in the content area gets shifted over, but only in IE8 .

Please keep me posted if this will be resolved in an update. Thanks so much!

pexeto

I finally saw it. I think this only happens with the combination 2 lines title + no blog image. I will fix this in the next update, however as a temporary solution you can open the style.css file and in the section .postContent add this line:

margin-top:25px;

I usually post news on my Twitter profile, so if you follow me on Twitter (on my profile page there is a “follow me on twitter” button), you will be up to date with new updates or themes I release :)

Hi Pexeto,

Thank you very much for your support, practically everything works just the way we intended now :)

I only have one more question at the moment: When I inserted the following code in the homepage I have not been able to change the order of the pages that appear in the featured area:

if($catId!=''){
    query_posts(array(
                'showposts' => -1,
                'post_type'=>'page',
                'post__in' => array(3,4,5)
    ));

In this example, I have tried to change the order in the above code (f. ex. array(5,4,3), and I have also tried to order the pages with the “my page order plugin” which works well for ordering the pages in the navigation menu.

However, the pages simply remain in one order and won’t budge. Would very much appreciate your input – thanks again for your quick and helpful comments last time!

pexeto

Hi,

If you want pages to be ordered, then some more work is needed. You have to change the code to look like this:

if($catId!=''){
    query_posts(array(
                'showposts' => -1,
                'post_type'=>'page',
                'post__in' => array(3,4,5),
                'orderby' => 'meta_value',
                'meta_key' => 'order',
                'order' => 'ASC'
    ));

Now in each page you have to create a custom field called “order” and set a value by which the page will be ordered, they will be ordered alphabetically so you can insert words, letters or whatever values you want. Just bear in mind that pages won’t be shown unless they have this custom field set.

Just bought the theme and am really loving it so far! Thanks for the great work.

Am having a little trouble… am customizing colors of the dark theme and have created my own images for the “bundle” ribbon on the sidebar (left, right and background)... I’ve created them with the same dimensions, and attempted to adjust the code in the dark_style.css to reflect their new names (I even tried it naming the files the same names in the code just to see if it would work), but am having no luck.

Where else do I need to switch the code to use the images I’ve created? Are the layered PSD files for the bundle graphics available?

Thanks for any help you can offer, I appreciate it! Stacey

pexeto

Hi,

I’m glad you like my theme :)

If you change the names in the style_dark.css or replace the images with the existing ones, it should work. I think that the old images might be saved in the cache and this is why you don’t see the new ones. So please try to reload the page by selecting Ctrl+F5 or just try to open the page with another browser. If it still does not work, then you can provide a link to your site so I can have a look.

Pexeto,

Regarding the slider: Is there a way to make the titles and descriptions appear on the “fader” version, or is it possible to turn it into a “full-fledged” slider, without the accordion effect? In other words, you’d see a single image at a time, and after a set amount of time, the whole image would slide off and be replaced by another. I like that the accordion shows the title and description, but because of the images I’m using, the accordion effect doesn’t look quite right.

Thanks!

pexeto

Hi,

I’m sorry but the theme does not support this kind of slider.

Thanks for all your help—I realized I was having issues because I was adjusting the wrong image (the sidebar ribbon img is its own image, and I was adjusting the bundle edges). Silly mistake.

I don’t know if anyone else is running into this, but when I upload pics into my pages, it has no padding whatsoever and the text is cozied right up to the img. Would you mind pointing me to where I need to adjust the code?

Much thanks, Stacey

pexeto

Hi,

You can set the borderImg class to your images in the settings of the image (when inserting it into the post/page), this will set a border and padding to your image.

I’ve been enjoying the theme a lot so far, but I’ve run into a snag. When I turn on the WordPress ‘Pretty Permalinks’ the paginated blog posts break. The first page of five posts displays, but when I click ‘Next’ I get a 404 error. The permalinks themselves work correctly.

Posts page

Thanks.

Hmm. My problems with Pretty Permalinks and the paginated blog posts goes away when I remove my custom 404 page. Unfortunately it is replaced with a different problem.

All my WordPress 404 errors now go to the blog page instead of showing the user they did something wrong. Also, even when the user navigates correctly to the blog, if they go to the second page, while it will display the right page, the title bar text shows the 404 error.

Finally, if I turn off Pretty Permalinks blog posts paginate with no errors, which is great (except that I want to use them), Wordpress won’t use my 404.php file at all and genuinely bad URLs throw a real apache 404 page.

Thanks for any help.

pexeto

Hi,

Pretty Permalinks work fine for me. Can you please enable them again and send me a private message with some login details so I can have a look? I think it would be easier.

horatio77

I figured it out, I think. For the theme I changed the following to setting to FIVE

Appearance-> PaperCore Options -> Blog Page Setting -> Number of posts per page : 5

I had not changed the default Wordpress blog page setting; it remained TEN

Settings -> Reading -> Blog pages show at most : 10

I’m new to this and I’m not sure why both your theme and WordPress have a settings for seemingly the same thing, however after entering FIVE in both places paginated blog posts with pretty permalinks now work the way I want.

Thank you.

pexeto

Good to hear you have dealt with it :)

Hi Pexeto. Strange error. Somethings wrong with the slider.. It works on my local setup but not online http://www.who-cut-the-cheeze.se/ I have set all the parameters correct.

Custom field: slider/fader

Featured post page

..but just the one pic’s showing??

pexeto

Hi,

There is a JavaScript error in your site. I guess this is caused by a plugin or some other code that you have added. You can try to disable all the plugins one by one and see if it works.

I am in the Page section of the admin and I don’t have the option under “Attributes” for the “Template” portfolio page. It just isn’t there. Is this normal?

pexeto

Hi,

No, this is not normal. You can try to reactivate the theme again, if it still does not work, you can send me a private message with some login details so I can have a look.

Sorry but I resolved the issue by changing the theme and then changing it back to PaperCore. Thanks!

HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so confused! I honestly don’t know what to do here.. Kind of stuck.

So, I’ve been developing a site using PaperCore, and it’s been going fine… And then, today, I uploaded a Plugin called Gigpress, and prior to that, the dropdown menus were working fine and the sliders were working fine. So then I activated the plugin, and tried to “Add a Show” and it said “You do not have sufficient permissions to do this.”

And then…. The dropdown menus stopped working and so did the home page slider images…. Just like that. Then I disabled the plugin, and then deleted it, and it was still a problem. I changed the Permissions in the FTP for the Plugin folder to 766… seeing if that does anything.

I talked with the web hosting people, because I thought they could help. I installed the same plugin yesterday on somebody else’s website, on a different web hosting server, and it worked fine. But on this server, it’s been giving endless problems. I’m so confused.

Really just want the dropdown menus and the slider image to work again. But I also really want to get Gigpress working. Do you have any ideas????

Here’s the URL of the site: http://thepresentsense.com/home/

Thank you by the way for making the awesome template!

pexeto

Hi,

The first time I saw your site, I thought “this is not my theme”, but after having a look at the code, I realized that this is actually my theme with lots of changes made on it.

So, the problem you have haven’t happened to me before, but I can think of some solutions that you can try:

1. Disable ALL the plugins (not only the problematic one), this might be caused by another plugin too.
2. If it still does not work- try to deactivate and activate the theme again.

I hope this will help in some way!

wahkeenasitka

oh my god. you’re a genius! thank you…................

i just hope i can figure out how to get this gigpress plugin activated because i really need to use it on this site! but it’s been a terror to work with, but only with this one site!

aaaack

thank you thank you thank you!

wahkeenasitka

ok wait

so i deactivated all the plugins, and the dropdown menus began working again, and same w/ the slider… but now that i re-activated just one plugin, that WAS working before, just fine… it’s now funked up again.

any clue?

I’ve discovered a weird issue with the slider, and with the subtitle on the home page. When using an apostrophe (‘) in these elements, it is rendered incorrectly as \’ with the backslash in front of the apostrophe. I’ve found that, with the subtitle at least, you can use '; however, after you save the changes, it reverts back to an apostrophe in the field, and then subsequent saves return the rendered output to \’.

With the sliders, using ' in the description doesn’t work; the rendered output is always \’.

Is there any way to correct this behavior?

pexeto

Hi,

Yes, this can be corrected and I will do it in the next update. However, you can do it by opening the slider.php file and replacing (line 34):

echo($titleArray[$i]);

with

echo(stripslashes($titleArray[$i]));

and also replacing (line 39):

echo($descArray[$i]);

with:

echo(stripslashes($descArray[$i]));
Default-user

Brilliant! That worked perfectly—thank you very much.

Also, using your suggested code, I was able to correct this in the home page template by replacing:

echo(get_option('_top_text'));
with:
echo(stripslashes(get_option('_top_text')));
That fixed the issue straight away. Thank you again for your help; I’ll keep this tip in mind if I come across the issue elsewhere in the theme.

pexeto,

I just discovered the borderImg class you’ve defined in style.css. It’s really a nice look; it helps with the overall look of the site.

I’m embedding Flash video using Stream Video Player, and I’ve been able to use the borderImg class to outline the embeds by wrapping it with a div and adding the style to it. It looks nice, but there are two quirks where I’m hoping you might be able to give some insight…
  1. The outline looks good around the embedded video, but the bottom part of the box is just a little bit thicker than the top and sides. Is there a tweak I can make to the class definition (or perhaps make my own custom borderVideo class) that will prevent this thicker line from being drawn?
  2. I’ve tried a couple of different ways to center the embedded video, both with styles in style.css and also with inline styles like p style="text-align: center". These all work to center the embed, but when I use any one of them in combination with the borderImg style, the results are not good: either the video centers but the left edge of the border is stuck to the far left of the container, or the video remains stuck to the left, and the right edge of the border extends to the center of the container. Is there anything you can suggest to make these two styles work together?
Thank you for any help you can provide—I’ve tried just about everything I can, but my very limited knowledge of CSS is creating a roadblock!

Hi,

Can you please provide me a link from your site, so I can have a look. You can send it to my email if you want.

Thanks

Hi Pexeto,

I just wanted to let you know that I sent you a private message (your email) about not being able to figure out what is wrong with my homepage/blog page. This is in reference to Focalist.com

I just wanted to let you know here to show you that I have purchased your theme.

Thanks, and I’m still loving this theme!... just need to tweak this, and then I’m good to go!

Hi Pexeto,

Great template and well documented. Question for you…

I’ve assigned my new “homepage” the home page template and would like the fader to appear, rather then the slider. When I use the custom field fader for the name, as well as the value, it’s not showing up. However, when I use slider as the name and value the slider works. Am I missing something for the fader? (I’ve already gone in and added my fader images in the paper core options)

Thanks in advance, Donnie

pexeto

Hi,

First of all- thanks, I’m glad you like it :)

So if you need the fader, then the key of the custom field should be slider and the value should be fader. I hope this is clear enough!

Default-user

Perfect! Thanks. One last question… How do I remove the “Post category ID has not been specified” error on the homepage template? I don’t want to have any posts on that page.

Thanks again, Donnie

pexeto

You have to open the homePage.php file, find this text in it and delete it :)

Hi, is it possible to buy the accordeon slider as a plugi in?

Thanks aventurax

pexeto

Hi,

I don’t have a plugin version of the accordion slider and a lot of additional coding is required to make one. Maybe you can look for an already created similar one.

Great template!

Questions – 1. Is there a way for me to easily rearrange the order of my portfolio images/posts? Or will the latest post always be in front?

2. Can I control the ordering of the menu links on the categories menu bar on the portfolio page?

3. How do I turn off/remove the Header Text?

designlotus(dot)com

pexeto

Hi,

I’m glad you like it :)

So, here are my answers:

1. You have to open the portfolioPage.php and replace this code (starting from line 65):

query_posts(array(
                'showposts' =>$postNumberToShow,
                'offset' =>$offset,
                'cat' => $catId
));

with this one:

query_posts(array(
                'showposts' =>$postNumberToShow,
                'offset' =>$offset,
                'cat' => $catId,
                'orderby' => 'meta_value',
                'meta_key' => 'order',
                'order' => 'ASC'
));

Now in each post you have to create a custom field called “order” and set a value by which the post will be ordered, they will be ordered alphabetically so you can insert words, letters or whatever values you want. Just bear in mind that posts won’t be shown unless they have this custom field set.

2. You have to change this line (line 38):

$categories=  get_categories('child_of='.$catId);

to be like this:

$categories=  get_categories('child_of='.$catId.'&orderby=slug');

Now you can order the categories by their slugs, they are order alphabetically.

3. You have to open the homePage.php file and delete the section <div id="topText" /> and everything inside it.

Hi :)

love this them ! I want to turn off the ligthbox on the portfolio page how do i do that !

pexeto

Hi,

Thanks, I’m glad you like it :)

I guess you have automatic thumbnail generation set to OFF , so you have to open portfolioPage.php and delete lines 87 and 93 :

echo('<a href="'.$preview.'" class="single_image" rel="prettyPhoto[group]">');</a>

and

echo('');
