HI, there is a way to have single pages (home, about, works) to better match with title and description in seo instead of having all in a only one page?

Even if I use only html files or if I install it in wordpress.

Best Regards

tommusrhodus

Hey there,

Yeah! Instead of using the #filter navigation and only one page builder template, just use normal links (in the filter location), multiple published pages and multiple page builder templates, couldn’t be easier right?

Sadly, the only issue with this is that you’ll lose the animations once you move the theme away from being a single page, so it’s up to you :)

Cheers!

Just wanted to say that I have bought this theme and I am extremely happy with the theme, its ease of use, and the excellent support from Tom.

If you’re thinking of buying it, you won’t be disappointed.

Good luck Tom, and I look forward to seeing (and buying) more of your work.

Cheers! Matt

Thanks a bunch Matt :)

Hi

Nice template I just have a question regarding the tweetAnywhere plugin. Do you know of a workaround or fix for this as this seems to have been shut down by Twitter? An alternative perhaps?

tommusrhodus

Hey there,

If you update your theme to the latest plugin I’ve implemented a soution, you’ll get details of it on your dashboard after the upgrade, be sure to grab the latest package from ThemeForest for full details in the upgraded documentation.

Hi Tommus

I have my wordpress theme completed and published .. it turned out great and i love your work. Thanks.

I do have one question though … I am using the single page filtered nav. While i do have the permalinks set up to display the “post-name” link config, I need some assistance figuring out how to apply friendly links to the filtered nav.

For example I would mydomain.com/#filter=.showcase to become shown as mydomain.com/showcase.

I think this needs to be done because depending on where the user is coming from, the nav filter link can get pretty ugly as in the example below: mydomian.com/#filter=.home%3Anot(%22.load-more%22)

Can you give me some help here? I would appreciate it …

Thanks TR

Hey there,

We’re working on improving the appearance of these links, but at the moment if you require the animations, then the filters are the only way to go about this.

Depending on your level of JavaScript expertise you may be able to modify the behaviour to your liking in the isotope_load.js files in /js/ in your theme files.

The only other way of getting true pretty permalinks is to spread your content across multiple static pages, though you will lose your animations if you do this.

Cheers!

Love the theme and have been using for a while now, all of the sudden a few days ago, our twitter feed stopped working. There hadn’t been any changes made when this happened. I have tried deleting the feed and re-adding it, but with no success.

Thanks!

Hey there,

Twitter have switched their API over to the new version recently, please update your theme to the latest version and download the latest documentation from themeforest. There’s full details on the new steps required to get your twitter feed back up and running.

Hi TommusRhodus,

After searching the web all day (I mean all day – spent the last eleven hours searching) in the hunt for a theme for a project that needs to start urgently, I randomly stumbled on your theme. I have to say that I’m impressed!

I’m looking for something unique and I think I may have hit the jackpot. I’ll add it to the list of potential themes, but as of right now, your theme is top of the pile.

Really unique theme; simple yet elegant. Top notch design work!

Thanks a bunch :)

Not a problem. Hope you don’t mind, but I have a few pre-purchase questions:

1) Having read through a few pages of comments, am I right in thinking that you can choose what shows on the home page? Meaning that you can hide certain ‘boxes’, only for them to appear on other pages?

2) I have noticed that the permalink structure is unusual, which probably aids in the animation code of the template. However, this can possibly effect SEO ratings. Because of this, can you opt to use standard type permalinks – separate pages? If so, do you lose anything by going down this route?

3) My new website will be primarily focused on the content of my authors. I guess this links in with question one, but is it possible for the front page to be primarily made up of blog posts – and can you specify how many appear on the main page?

4) Finally, if I indeed have many blog posts in the home page, is there a way to add a filter onto the home page, so that viewers can filter by category (like the current animation) in very much the same manner as selecting the pages?

Sorry for the questions and thanks in advance.

tommusrhodus

Hey there,

1. Correct indeed.

2. The #filter links are pure .js – this is a one-page theme, you can however use content across multiple pages with standard permalinks, though you’ll lose the animations.

3. If you were using multiple pages as per question two then you have much more control over blog posts, you can just drop the blog posts in using my page-builder and then set the appropriate (global) amount using the wordpress reading settings.

4. No, I’m afraid the blog page-builder element just outputs by date. going by question 2 though, having no animations, you could set a category archive as your front page to achieve the effect.

Cheers!

Hi, great looking theme! Before purchasing would it be possible to get a copy/link to the theme’s documentation? I want to make sure it will be able to do what I need.

Very much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Tommus,

Is there a way to display individual tweets, or individual posts from social media channels onto the page and then filter them with a link at the top of the page?

Thanks,

tommusrhodus

I’m afraid not, I don’t have plans to implement this feature in to the theme in the future.

Sorry about that :)

Thanks for the reply Tommus.

I was wondering if it is possible to add links in the services panels to expand on the content. i.e., on your demo page, once you have filtered the services, would I be able to allow a user to access more info on any one service by linking them to another page?

I am planning to purchase your theme, but I am not clear on how much control the theme allows. Would I be able to view the documentation? Thanks,

tommusrhodus

Great template, really.

But i have few questions

1- For the Selective Homepage. You mentioned “you’ll notice at the bottom of most blocks now there is a new checkbox which states ‘Display on Homepage’” but I can’t find it. You see, I want to add more info on the “About” page without showing it on the Homepage. Can you tell me how?

2- I want to add another page on the menu calling it “XYZ”. So I should add a filter called ”#filter=.xyz”. Then, I should go and create a template and get its code. Now, the problem is that after I add blocks in the template I can’t find the Section “XYZ” to put it under. So how can I make it work.

Thank you a lot.

tommusrhodus

Hey there,

1. Have you turned on the ‘selective homepage’ option in the theme options? If you have, you should now be seeing a ‘show this item on homepage’ tick box at the bottom of your blocks in the page builder. Using this you can assign a block to the ‘about’ page using the dropdown, and then leave the ‘show on homepage’ checkbox unselected so it doesn’t show on the homepage.

2. Go to “Appearance” => “customise TG” => “filters” and rename custom1, custom2 or custom3 to xyz – I put those filters in there specifically to be renamed :)

Cheers!

Hi Tommus, Thank your for The Grid, I enjoy working with it and love the design! I just have a couple of questions, I’m not sure if I should use the support form… you mentioned that you are the only one answering :-).

I almost finished my website (http://designsbyrudy.com) and the thing I can’t figure out is how to make “Interior Design” (menu item) portfolio items to revert to “Interior Design” after closing. When you click one of the images under “Interior Design” (not all are clickable yet), the link opens in a new browser window (I’d like it to open in the same), when you close it using orange “X”, it goes back to “Portfolio” filter item instead of Interior Design.

Basically, what I’m looking for is to have each link to open in the same browser window and after closing to go back to the same page it was opened from. :-) I don’t know if this explanation is clear….

I’m not sure if this could be a reason for that behavior but when I go to Portfolio tab in Admin area, choose new item or any of the existing items, I have no category option. There is a box “Portfolio Categories”, but the only options inside that box are to add tags. I’ll open a ticket and copy this message with some screenshots.

Thanks, Darek

Answered your support ticket :) You’re right it is only me, but you’ll still get a quick answer :)

Hi Tom, What is the difference between “filtered portfolio” and simply “portfolio”?

I assumed filtered portfolio would show a list of my portfolio categories and when one was selected the thumbs would filter to show only that category. This doesn’t seem to be the case or am I doing something wrong? From what I can tell…you need to select which portfolio category is to be displayed in the admin and you can only chose 1 category. correct?

Thanks, Slade

tommusrhodus

Hey there,

Portfolio: Outputs your portfolio posts in date order, and shows the amount of posts set in “settings” => “reading” with a ‘load more’ button.

Filtered Portfolio: Outputs all posts of a selected ‘portfolio-category’ in which you have posts assigned, using this method you can easily assign multiple portfolios across separate filter names defined in “customise MF” => “Filters”

Cheers!

Thanks for the quick response! I’m using TheGrid theme. Can the filtered portfolio work the same way as the MyFolio filtered portfolio works? If yes…are there instructions on how to make it work that way? The ability to get the list of portfolio categories into one the boxes and have them linked to their respective portfolio items..?

Thanks again! Slade

tommusrhodus

Hey there,

I’m afraid that theGrid does not currently support the same system as MyFolio, but perhaps I’ll see if I can add it in a future update.

Cheers!

We’ve been working with this theme for the past 2 weeks as we develop our new agency portfolio site. It’s smart, fluid and contemporary. We’re are increasingly pleased with the new site, and excited about our launch.

The design’s attention to detail and typographic craft are both exemplary. Tamper with the default settings at your own risk, and only if you’re very confident in your abilities as a typographer and designer.

The site is quite a bit different in the ways Tommy organizes WordPress, which accounts for the cool, fresh look and functionality. The learning curve, at least for us, was a bit steep. The documentation, while clear, could be a bit more specific here and there (but on this we gladly give this one-man shop a break.)

This is perhaps where the best reason to buy comes in — the service and support are fantastic. Most theme developers seem to barely care at all about support. Tommy is prompt, professional, and candid and clear. I highly, highly recommend this theme, and this developer.

Hello, How can i add a tagline only on the footer (I don’t want it to appear under the logo too). And how can I add a link in the tagline.

The portfolio doesn’t appear on the home page although I added “Portfolio” from the Page Builder and placed it under Portfolio

Thanks

and how to link the contact form to my email? Thanks :)

Hi.

Is there a possibillity to change some english words in my language? f.e. “Posted”..?

And my second question, can i make insteed of 1/2 – 1/4 1/4 a big column? (1/1) I mean a sqaure which goes from left to right?

tommusrhodus

Hey there,

1. The theme comes with a .po file for you to fully translate all the text you see.

2. Yes there’s a 1/1 text block included in the theme with a variable height for as much content as you need to add.

Cheers!

Hi Tommus,

We’re working on improving the appearance of these links, but at the moment if you require the animations, then the filters are the only way to go about this.

Any update on this?

Very keen on the template for our own page rebuild, just a little concerned about the “link” appearance…...

All in all looks crazy good!!

Cheers Shaun

tommusrhodus

Hey there Shaun,

No update on the #filter links I’m afraid, being a one-page theme, those links are generated purely by javascript, so they wouldn’t be indexed links anyway.

Again, we’re trying to find a way to improve this reliably, but overall functionality and stability of the theme is our first concern, and the #filter system works perfectly for this :)

The short version – I’m afraid we’ve yet to find a reliable method of changing this for now :)

Hi Tom, Did I mention already that I love your theme? :-) Thanks again for your help on my customization! Everything is PERFECT! Just a quick question, is there a way to add captcha to the contact form or any other type of protection? Hi Tom, Great work of Art. I love it.

Just a pre-purchase question, I had a read through the comments but couldn’t see if anyone asked these already, if they have sorry in advance.

Can multiple pages be added? For example when you select the “service” page can you make a permalink on the “Our Services” box to open up a page, listing “services” that are offered and then links to individual service pages?

If it won’t work on this theme will it work on your Eagle Logistics theme please? And if so what are the main feature limitations if any compared with thegrid theme please?

tommusrhodus

Hey there,

Yep, you can add multiple pages, and just stick in a standard HTML link to your text boxes to go to your other pages;

<a href="http://www.example.com/services-page">Link Text</a>

Eagle Logistics is a little less featured than theGrid, but the main differences lay in design and typography.

Can the colors be changed from the grey and orange to any combination?

tommusrhodus

Hey there,

Yeah! you can use out built in colour customiser controls.

Here’s an alternate light version demo;
