how do i change the color scheme
Hey there,
Go to “Appearence” => “Customise TG” and then use the 1-click colour controllers inside.
If you need any more help feel free to leave a ticket at http://tommusrhodus.ticksy.com
God I love this theme, but the preload is just 5 seconds too long (10 seconds max on a regular connection speed) on the ipad. Any suggestions for getting that down to just 2-3 seconds?
The preloader is there as long as the site takes to load, my site gets a tonne of traffic from ThemeForest so it tends to slow down a little, but you can improve speed in a great number of ways, good hosting is a great starting point
The page transition currently fades in, i wanted to “bounce” or grow in like you have in your demo. How do I edit that?
Hey there,
That’s odd, the transitions should be just as my demo, could you leave a ticket at our support site with your URL and I’ll take a look at this with you;
http://tommusrhodus.ticksy.comCheers!
Oh, great template by-the-way.
Thanks
These guys give amazing support and the theme is beautifully designed. I had quite a few questions and they have helped me with all of them which is really helpful. Thanks guys!
Thanks a bunch
(There’s only one of me though, developer and support!)
like a few others have noted, i would like the ability to select which blocks appear on the home page. my site will have many staff and projects but want those items to only show on the other pages (about and portfolio). any estimate when that ability to limit will be enabled? once it’s available i will definitely purchase. thanks, and nice work a very unique and attractive theme.
Hey there,
Thanks for the compliments! As you’ve noted, it’s in the pipeline, I can’t give a development date at the moment for the feature I’m afraid, but I’d expect this feature to go live in very early May.
Cheers!
great, looking forward to that feature.
another quick question. is it possible to assign background colors to the various blocks – like the twitter block in your demo? is it possible to assign different colors to different blocks?
Hey there,
Yes this can be done with a tool like FireBug and very simple CSS; if you purchase the theme I’ll be happy to quickly show you this.
Cheers!
Gordon, the selective homepage feature is now live on my update server, and will be live on theme forest when the reviewers accept the update, likely within 24 hours.
Cheers!
I am looking through The Grid WP Theme – Documentation. What is the difference between: The Grid Filtered Navigation and The Grid Standard Navigation? And which one are you using in your ThemeForest demo?
Hey there,
Filter Nav: This is only loaded in the page template – page builder template – this nav is ideal for #filter=.about type URLs for working with your main page of content.
Main Nav: This is loaded in Archives, Standard Pages, and the Page Builder with Standard Nav page template – this is useful for standard links on pages where you don’t want to filter down content, such s standard pages, category and tag archives etc.
In the demo I’m using the Filter Navigation on the homepage, and the Main Nav for archive pages etc.
I hope this helps!
Thanks for the quick reply, I will use your directions this weekend. A great designed template while important, it is the personal attention you give us here and at http://tommusrhodus.ticksy.com that really does make me a customer for life. You are as responsive as your templates…. pun intended.
Thanks!
A note to any users upgrading to 2.2.0 – I’ve now included a selective update option, I’ve also updated the documentation to explain this process, the updated documentation will be live on ThemeForest in roughly 24 hours (waiting for reviewer.)
If you have an existing installation of theGrid, turning on the selective homepage will create errors on your site, this is to be expected and the documentation covers it, the error can be removed with literally two clicks of your mouse, but sadly, I cannot do this for you in the update process.
New Users; you should receive no errors regarding the selective homepage
Enjoy it everyone! Tom
Hi, first of all I really appreciate this work, really nice theme. i was wondering if there is a possibility for the Blog Post Boxes on the Homepage if the Headline is too long. Would be great to have a ”...” just like in the text which is shown.
Thanks for helping me, Patrizius
Fair enough, I’ve added this to my development list
Cheers! & thanks!
Oh boy…. please excuse the newbie question which follows. On my WordPress.org Dashboard I have been notified of an update to theGrid (2.2.1), this is great news except: “The following themes (theGrid) have new versions available. Check the ones you want to update and then click “Update Themes”. Please Note: Any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Please consider using child themes for modifications” As I am new to WP, I find out there are something called child themes. As I am making customizations to the original theGrid template, does this mean any update I do from you will result in erasing my changes? Should I (we) have been using child themes right from the start? Cheers.
Hey there,
Child themes are definitely a good idea unless you’re only making a few changes to the theme files here/there – and it’s only if you’re making direct code changes, anything in your theme options is safe, and obviously so are all your posts / pages and everything.
Barring the auto update, you can also do a manual update, the following article gives you a few ideas how to do this without losing customisations;

To answer my own question above and to maybe assist another newbie in avoiding this situation I am posting a response from a Google search. I’ll only make this mistake once, so lesson learned, USE A CHILD THEME!
Hey there,
Yeah, it depends how sweeping your changes are though, a few little tweaks here and there can be easily made again after the update – large changes however, yep, child-theme

^^ I am not certain a Child Theme is needed. The developer will need to make this clear. ^^
See my replies above, usage of a child theme depend on how large your changes are, little changes here and there can be made again after the update if you wanted.
cheers!
Hello TR In version 2.2.1 with API plugin 1.1 oAuth Twitter Feed for Developers crash all site.
Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array aq-twitter-block.php on line 81
Any fix?
Thanks
Yep, double check the keys you’ve entered into the plugin, you should have 4 unique, keys that basically look like;
liagibvwoibweibg8924hfiubeiouwehfg892g
And a cache set to something like 3600
To be honest, given how horrible this new API is, I may not continue the twitter block within the theme.
If you need a little more help leave a ticket at http://tommusrhodus.ticksy.com
Cheers!
I have checked all settings… but too many errors and blocks,
I really agree with you to remove completely the twitter block in the next relases of theme.
Thanks again. Fabio
Thanks for your understanding Fabio
Tom
Hi, could you let me know how to change the colour of individual blocks please? And is it possible to assign a different colour block for each category? Fantastic theme by the way!
Hey there,
Use a tool like FireBug and take a look at each block individually, they all have an id similar to;
Using that you can modify the colour of each element individually, e.g;
Cheers!
This site is awesome and Tom has been incredibly response to any questions. I highly recommend!
Thanks!
Si sigues teniendo problemas después dejar un billete en mi wite soporte con una URL a su propio sitio;
http://tommusrhodus.ticksy.com¡Salud!
I think I just solved. Muchas gracias
