Adding Google Font

Could you please add all of the Roboto fonts from Google into the Google fonts array? Or can I do it on my own?

Thanks for a superb and solid theme.

I do plan on updating Thunder, just not this weekend ;) I’m working on some redesigns for my main website and making some free themes, then once all that’s done I’ll get to updating my premium themes. Just need to turn focus over to my site right now so it’s done early in the year.

Glad you got them added on your own!

Hi again, having problem with the google map function. I have added google maps to my homepage at delaliga.com. But I only get a blank grey square (right column) or if I alter the code I get New York centered on the map (I want a place in Barcelona). This is the link I want https://www.google.se/maps/preview#!q=Camp+Municipal+de+F%C3%BAtbol+de+L%C2%B4aliga&data=!4m15!2m14!1m13!1s0x12a498045393180f%3A0x1a5ba1b0b7a5ec45!3m8!1m3!1d2930!2d2.1380198!3d41.4141745!3m2!1i1436!2i752!4f13.1!4m2!3d41.414174!4d2.13802

I am doing something wrong? Is that not the link I should paste into the visualizer?

This is the link you want to use – http://cl.ly/image/0E0B1f0m0114

There are at least two explicit references to “http://fonts.googleapis.com…” in the theme. See wpex-thunder\admin\assets\js\smof.js, line 626 and wpex-thunder\functions\google-fonts.php line 576. The second one creates an issue when trying to load our site’s home page securely – some content is insecure. I haven’t run into the first one yet.

Thanks for the heads up. You just have to open \functions\google-fonts.php and change the http: to https: – I’ll be sure to update this in the next version for others needed https on the site.

Also if you aren’t sure how to fix, send me a private message and I’ll zip over the updated theme.

How can I suppress the ‘Leave a Reply’/’Post Comment’ section that appears near the bottom of pages created with the Default and FullWidth Templates? Thanks.

The easiest way is to disable comments using “quick edit” – http://cl.ly/image/112s3n0m2G01

Ah. Thanks!

Hi In the blog template the phrase, “Our Latest Findings And Adventures” appears automatically, how do i remove (or change) this? Thanks Josh

Subheadings are added with the “excerpt” field – http://cl.ly/image/39051Z3B1e2f

Posting a new comment in case my updated comments don’t get seen.

Not sure why my slider: http://atomicdesignstudios.com/wp-tester/test/ Doesn’t look like yours: http://wpexplorer-demos.com/thunder/recent-posts-carousel-slider/

Seems like yours is perfectly resizing to 50% of the original size of the image. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. But I just get slides that are all out of place.

Figured it out… at some point I had changed the entry div to indent 40pixels which was throwing off the calculations of the slider. I swear, CSS is an INSANE balancing act! Thank God it’s solved as I can launch the site now!

Sorry for not getting back to you, both me and my partner have been really sick this week ;( Glad you figured it out and thanks so much for letting me know!

Hi AJ,

Hope you are well.

I have activated the quote post formats in Thunder. Ideally, I would like to change the styling of the post to an aqua background and white text, without affecting the link post format ( a little lower down the page), but I can’t seem to pull it off.

Can you help?

Thanks, Jim

Hey Jim,

Based on your code it would be like this:

.format-quote.blog-entry .link-entry-inner { background: #33bbb9;  color: #fff; }
.format-quote.blog-entry h1 { color: #fff; }

That said, I would recommend you make a new file called content-quote.php (this can be done in a child theme) so you can really set things up right.

Thanks AJ, took your advice, worked a treat and it looks fab!

When I press the Facebook Like button beneath the blogposts, the URL doesn’t connect(?) as Twitter, Google and Pinterest does! The same issue or if you want to call it for a bug is in the demo!

...by the way, is only on mobile Safari (iOS) this occurs, works fine on desktop web browsers as Chrome, Firefox and IE.

...I prevent Facebook from going to the mobile site by adding a ?m2w parameter to the URL and that solves my problem for now!

Thanks for the tip!

Hi AJ, I’m trying to use a translation de_DE.po file in my thunder child theme, but I don’t get this to work. It seems it is overwritten again by the parent theme. I included code in the function.php of the child theme such as

function my_child_theme_setup() {   load_child_theme_textdomain( 'wpex-thunder', get_stylesheet_directory() ); } add_action( 'after_setup_theme', 'my_child_theme_setup' );

load_child_theme_textdomain('wpex-thunder',  get_stylesheet_directory().'/languages');

add_action( 'after_setup_theme', 'my_child_theme_setup' );
function my_child_theme_setup() {
    load_child_theme_textdomain( 'wpex-thunder', get_stylesheet_directory() . '/languages' );

but nothing worked. When I copy the language file into the parent theme language folder, it works, so the language file shouldn’t be the problem.

Could you please help.

Actually you are correct, I was doing some research yesterday and that is exactly why it’s not showing up! You need to add these to the keywords and I totally forgot to do that!

The plural forms are actually a bit tricker and do require more edits…

In PoEdit…

  • Catalog -> Properties -> Translation properties try adding the following into the Plural Forms field:
nplurals=2; plural=(n != 1);
  • There are more keywords you’ll want to add, but it would take forever via PoEdit, so if you can open the .po file in a text editor and add the following keywords:
"X-Poedit-KeywordsList: __;_e;__ngettext:1,2;_n:1,2;__ngettext_noop:1,2;"

Like such: http://cl.ly/image/153B261S2S3A

See if that helps…Unfortunately there is very very little guides online regarding translating WordPress and I’m not sure anyone really truly knows how it should all be done, lol.

That did the job. Thank you very much.

Oh Awesome!

Again, thanks for pointing out that it wasn’t working correctly!

Hi I love the theme but I have one question about the home page. In your demo on your home page under the slider you have images with text underneath. I would like to create something simular how is this created?

Thanks Jake

On my live demo I’m using the built-in homepage template for the main homepage layout (not the composer) – http://www.wpexplorer.org/online-docs/thunder/#home_template

And the way those items are added is by using the “features” custom post type – http://cl.ly/image/1y1H3i1U1W41

Hi AJ, I can’t change the font-family or font size of some entries, although I have set the parameters in style.css, e.g. - the “Products Heading” on the home page. - the footer titles

Could you please help me out here.

If you can show me the URL in question and what you are trying to change exactly I’ll be glad to have a look and see why it’s not overriding.

Never mind, sorry, my mistake.

Hi AJ, there is still an open issue of mine: “In the Woocommerce theme option settings I can choose right sidebar for ”Shop Layout” and “Single Product layout”. However, I can’t choose this for the Product category layout. I’d like to have the right sidebar here too. The reason that I like to have the sidebar displayed is that I like to enable the customer to navigate through the categories, no matter if he is on the shop page, category page or product page. But maybe I’m thinking in a wrong way and there is a different approach to this? (Woocommerce Shortcodes?)

Also, when you choose to show the categories on the shop page, you only get to see the category thumbnail with the category name and a counter with the amount of products. It would be nice if the category description could be shown there too.

Thanks for your support Michael

Hi Michael,

I think you were going to email me for the updated theme. I searched through my emails and didn’t find any from you concerning this update.

Do you mind re-sending the email or if you haven’t send us one (just paste the text above into the contact form on our profile page).

I prefer to keep pending updates in our inbox as a reminder because once you answer a comment on themeForest it gets marked as read and I’ll never see it again.

ps: Thunder requires a huge update, so it might take a few days to get these new updates added. Because I can’t just do one without the other.

I have addressed this (and other issues) again later here:

In order that you can have a look at the issues, I’ll send you an email including an administrator login for the site again.

OK thanks, someone will get to your ticket as soon as possible. Sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience!

On the home page, at the bottom where the clients are listed, it appears that the last two items have the incorrect column number:

client-entry span_1_of_5 col col-1 client-entry span_1_of_5 col col-2

For some reason it assigns column 3-5 to the first 3 items and 1-2 to the last 2. How do I correct this?

Yes, I started renaming my themes without the wpex- because its easier for me to manage them locally.

You could do many things…Personally I would just rename wpex-thunder to thunder via FTP then replace the files. In some cases though this can cause the site to break so what you should do is have the site open on the theme’s page in the dashboard so you can quickly switch to the theme without loading the front end, if you load the front end you might have to re-add your widgets. Although I think WP might have added a fix for the widgets issue in WP 3.8 (by moving them into inactive widgets) but not 100% sure.

Sure thing!

I’m trying to set up a Portfolio, with little success. I have gone to Portfolio|Add Item and added two items. I have placed them in the ‘Hardware’ category (I have three categories). when I open www…/portfolio, a portfolio page opens, with the tabs ‘ALL’ and ‘HARDWARE’. So far so good, but neither of the items are visible, under either tab. I was expecting a small array, similar to the themeforest preview. One of my elements has a setup very much like what I see here: http://www.wpexplorer.org/online-docs/thunder/#[object%20Object] under Portfolio. I can view the individual item pages from the view option from the admin page, and from their return to the main portfolio page, but it is still empty. Any ideas?

Ignore this. I’m starting over, with a fresh WP install, added just the theme and LayerSlider, and bringing over each piece of content ‘by hand’.

Ok, let me know if you run into any problems.

Hi there,

Your advice so far has been top notch, so I wonder if you could help me again.

I’m in the process of setting up a newsletter campaign through Aweber. I want to send out a message through Aweber everytime I publish a new blog post. I want this message to contain the full blog post, but for this to work Aweber needs to be able to pull the post from my RSS feed (http://website.com/feed). Aweber does this via the <content> tags within the feed, but my feed uses <content:encoded>, which Aweber doesn’t recognize.

I assume this is something to do with the way Thunder is set up.

Is there any quick fix I can use to change the tags to <content> rather <content:encoded>?

Aweber support have mentioned that <content:encoded> works sometimes, and other times it doesn’t. Might it be an issue with my setup?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Will,

It’s impossible for the theme to alter the default feed especially the <content:encoded> tag because it’s hardcoded into WordPress. The RSS feed is generated by core WordPress functions so it isn’t something I can assist with, the only way for you to alter that is by changing the core WordPress function, see /wp-includes/feed-rss2.php

ps: Sorry for the delayed reply, I just noticed that this comment says it was posed “16 days ago”. But it just showed up in my dashboard!!!

Must be some bug in Themeforest I’ll submit a ticket.

Any way to hide a bio on a staff page? Seems odd to have the same staff member repeated in the Other Members section as the page being viewed…

Totally, it is weird!

I’m updating the theme right now to exclude the current staff member from the related staff members. If you want me to send you just the file to update message me privately.

The Blog Section on the Homepage

I am struggling to find the .css to change the font colors.

I am using the light template and changed the background color in the theme options to a light blue. However the default of the text with the light them is white #fff.

I have changed every blog font .css in the custom theme .css to 000 and only can get the header and title to change – not the post snippet.

Also can’t find where to change the drop shadow colors.

Is there a way to get the page title to display on the homepage, as it does on many other pages? There seems to be a blank space where the title would fit (below the menu/header and above the first text element)?

If you are using the homepage template the only way to add the title at the top would be to edit templates/home.php and add the title there. You can have a look at page.php to see how the main title is implemented. But maybe you’ll want to consider adding a static image, slider, video instead.

Is there a way to make a text block on a page based on the Home Template use the Theme Options | Typography | Body Font Size setting? The html in the text block has no size over-rides in it. Text Blocks on pages based on the ‘Default Template’ behave as I expect – following the Body Font Size setting.

The homepage content by default (on the homepage template) has some CSS added to increase font size and such:

.home-page-content {
font-size: 1.313em;
padding: 80px 0;
background: #fff;

You’ll want to override that via CSS. Or if you really want you can move the homepage template over to a child theme and remove the .home-page-content class so that these styles aren’t applied.

Got it. Theme Options | Custom CSS. Also removes blank space for title.

/* background should match values under / / Theme Options | Styling (colors). */ .home-page-content { font-size: 1em; padding: 0px 0; background: #eaeaea; }

Hi dear I want to buy your theme, but i need to know if can I have a result like the Spotify site? With a big image in home and navigation with button and scrooll down in one page? If yes this is a theme that I’m looking for.

Thank you, for your time.

Unfortunately the functionality for the full-screen image with the scroll-down button isn’t built-in.

You can use the included Slider Revolution ( Example) plugin to create the full-screen image, but you’ll need to code in your own javascript for the scroll-down function.

Ok thank you. So you’re telling me that there is no problem to create a full screen image slider revolution. The only thing I need is to create the JavaScript code to associate with the button in order to have the scrolldown… right? I need your ok, before buying. Thanks.

How can I add some texture in the footer background? I tired with some custom CSS but it still did not show up. Can you please help? No hurry, this theme is amazing.

The color is being overwritten by the purple background as defined in the theme options – http://cl.ly/image/451j2S3l1H3H

ps: Everything works fine for me in chrome!

I already fixed the issue with the texture. There was no issue in Chrome just a strange one for a couple of hours on my computer but there is an issue in Firefox and IE both are cutting off the logo. I mentioned this above. I usually only use Chrome but used those browsers and noticed this issue. It’s a brand new computer so IE 11 and Firefox 26. Windows 8.1 OS. Only half of the logo is displaying in both browsers.

Cool, glad you got it all working Brad!
