Hey Nitrox,

sorry to bother you with a beginners problem but I do not manage to install the theme on my WP. I tried to upload the zipped file in admin panel/themes and also a direct upload via ftp. Previous themes I purchased came with a .zip containing only the template data and a .xml for the dummy-content. that was easy to handle. If you or anyone else could give advice I´d be greatful. I really want to get started with that mouthwatering theme of yours!!

Thank you!

nitrox

Sorry if you were disappointed :(

I am working on the WP version, that’s good news, right? :)

That´s good news for sure. Any idea for a release date yet? I´d be among the first..

Hi Nitrox. Amazing stuff! I can see how the mind of a flash developer would create something this sweet. I have a question about the Images used in the slides on the main page.

img src=”assets/resized/8.jpg” data-large=”assets/full/8.jpg” data-thumb=”assets/thumb/8.jpg” alt=”Image”

I am trying to determine what the optimum file size is for the images. In the download you have the same size for the ‘resized’ and the ‘full’ but if I put a larger image in the full directory – will it display in more detail on a computer screen or is that not how this works? Sorry if it is a simple question I just want to understand this part.

Thanks!

nitrox

Hello anhedonium, thank you :)

The image in the data-large attribute will be used on large screens (desktops and laptops) and the img itself will appear on mobile devices (with the large image being hidden). The thumb image is used in the right/left navigation preview.

anhedonium

What would you recommend as an acceptable size for the data-large assets. I don’t want to get crazy but I want a fairly crisp image. Thanks for the help. This is such great work! Full stars.

nitrox

It would differ actually, you can’t guarantee a great-looking-super-crisp image across devices unless it’s a really large image (1900×1200 or something), but for me, I would go for a max. width of 1200 pixels and the height would be variable based on the image dimensions. I think 1200 would make a good quality image and wouldn’t be too large in KB.

anhedonium

Thanks Nitrox. Appreciate the advice.

I noticed tjat you have PHP files listed. To what level do you require this to run the site? Will it work as a flat HTML/CSS/JS only? Thanks.

nitrox

The PHP is required by the contact form and the masonry/metro/grid porfolio, if you don’t intend to use any of them, then you don’t need PHP support.

I am noticing that the large slide show images are not loading in Tablet landscape mode (testing iOS thus far). Can you provide a fix for this? Everything else is looking and behaving great! Thank you.

Hi Nitrox,

is there a way to optimize the loading time of the front page? I remarked that there are 5.7MB, the total size of the objects needed to preload before front page will be displayed. And 4MB are only the SVG fonts requested. Do we need all that 4 versions of Opensans SVG fonts? each one has 1MB.

Please take a look to this network loading audit: http://screencast.com/t/aJdzmmYfG

Thanks

nitrox

Hello laurian3000, unfortunately, we do need all versions of the font in order to achieve cross-browser compatibility :(

I’m having a problem with the photo grid page. When I’m testing locally everything works correctly but when I upload it to my server the loading box appears, disappears, then reappears but never loads any images. Any idea on what could cause this?

I’m using the PHP file. I just replaced the images.

nitrox

Could you pass me the URL of your website?

demo.lakefun.com. Then click on Lakes, Photos.

Also, while you’re looking. If you click on Lakes, a XML map is supposed to load. I bought the map from http://codecanyon.net/item/interactive-svg-usa-map/1021095?sso?WT.ac=search_item&WT.seg_1=search_item&WT.z_author=LGLab

If you browse through the site it doesn’t show up. If you type the URL in the address bar it shows up. demo.lakefun.com/lakes.html

The guy that created the map thought it might be a template issue.

nitrox

Hello brade11, there was a bug and a quick fix will be uploaded shortly (v1.0.4)

nitrox

Try not to import jQuery twice, the template is already importing it so you don’t need to import it again.

Also try appending these script tags to the end of the ”#page” element and not the body. Appending the tags to the body will keep them from being loaded if you landed on a page that doesn’t have these tags in its HTML code.

<script src="/scripts/raphael.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="/scripts/scale.raphael.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="/scripts/paths.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="/scripts/init.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Also you might need to change the href of the page link in your nav. menu from “Lakes/index.html” to”lakes.html”

Thanks for the help Nitrox. I did all the above and still no map. Can I give you my FTP info in a private message and you look at it? This and the Photos page are the only thing keeping me from going live. Thanks again!

nitrox

Sure, go ahead and send it.

Hi Nitrox, I just noticed one more bug. In Safari only, there is a preload glitch. On the Case Study pages I’m seeing a video frame pop up before the page loads in the spots where a video will be. Chrome and Firefox are both good. Please let me know if you can create or suggest a fix for this. Thanks again.

nitrox

It’s probably a youtube video, right?

It’s a Vimeo player. Can you please help with this as well as the iPad image loading bug?

Hi there. Nice job! In the accordion home you used button tags (like in “view our work”). How can I add a link to it? I heard about the “formaction” attr, but its very unsupported. Thank you.

Greetings,

Great job! I love ur work. I’m having an issue with the contact form, it wont send the mail to me. My server is setup correctly, I’ve run other sites with php contact forms off the same server with success.

Thanks for your time and great design, Unda

Unda,

I had the same problem with the contact form. I added the following code

<input type="hidden" name="to" value="email@emailaddress.com">

below the form so it looks like:
<form class="contact-form" action="contact.php" method="post">
  <input type="hidden" name="to" value="email@emailaddress.com">

Couple comments here: First: @laurian3000 One option for you would be to convert the fonts to the base64 equivelant, and put that into your CSS. The problem with this, it makes your CSS huge, but if you are gzipping, then there should be no issue.

Also, I have successfully concatenated and minified all necessary scripts and stylesheets. If you can do this, and move the scripts to the bottom of your page, you should see a decent improvement in load time.

Second: Just in case anyone needs to do something like this… I had an issue (my own), where on my laptop’s screen and clicking a link inside the menu, the menu would stay open until I mousedout. While on bigger screens this is not an issue, however, smaller screens could cause a display issue where the menu simply covers most of the content. A quick cure: Right around line 229 in main.src.js you should see finishLoading: function(){ if you put in the following line template.dock.header.menu.close(); it will close the menu once the loading of the page is completed.

Here is another little snippet for the masses. This will allow you to set other links to load like they do when you click an item in the main menu. Put this in your jQuery load event

    // Let's force all internal links, with [data-load='internal'] to load the page via ajax
    $intLinks = jQuery('[data-load="internal"]');
    $intLinks.click(function(e){
        if(typeof(template.page) !== 'undefined'){ //make sure the templates loaded up first
            e.preventDefault(); //prevent the default action
            template.page.load(jQuery(this).attr('href'));
        }
    });

Tee,

On the templates-clients.html file, how do I link to a larger picture or to a website from each picture? From an image-overlay?

<div class="col-1-4">
<div class="overlay">
<div class="color-overlay" />
<img src="assets/clients/2.jpg" alt="Image" />
</div>
</div>

Hello brade11,

Here is the code:

<div class="col-1-4">
<div class="overlay">
<div class="color-overlay" />
<a href="PATH_TO_LARGE_IMAGE" class="colorbox">
<img src="assets/clients/2.jpg" alt="Image" />
</a>

Tee,

I understand that this is basic HTML but it does not work. See http://demo.lakefun.com/Coupons/TN.html

nitrox

Try this:

<div class="col-1-4">
    <a href="PATH_TO_LARGE_IMAGE" class="overlay colorbox">
        <span class="color-overlay" />
        <img src="assets/clients/2.jpg" alt="Image" />
    </a>
</div>

Thanks so much for a great HTML5 template. Two questions:

1) If we want to use multiple category PHP ajax_portfolio files, where is the ajax.php code called for within a gallery page so we could change that reference accordingly?

2) Is it possible to include an external link in the dock and not have the preload icon + grey background load automatically?

Hi,

I have already started customizing my different pages with my own content, but there is always this recurring problem: the menu is hidden when opening the site.

How to make the menu is automatically displayed when someone comes to the site?

I would like to display the menu automatically when you open the site because it is not clear that we must rely on a small link to view it. Everyone is not devin;-)

Thank you for the help appreciated.

Hi nitrox…thanks for the great template…..I have a problem with google chrome. When i change a slide from the home slider template, a scrollbar appears and dissapear….thats a bug or what….thanks for your time…greats from Colombia

nitrox

Hello simonbeat, I am working on a fix for this right now.

nitrox

So far it seems like a Chrome specific bug, switching the animation method from CSS3 transitions to jQuery.animate will fix the problem but there will be a noticeable performance drop.
