TrueStory - Fullscreen HTML5 Template

Hey Nitrox,

sorry to bother you with a beginners problem but I do not manage to install the theme on my WP. I tried to upload the zipped file in admin panel/themes and also a direct upload via ftp. Previous themes I purchased came with a .zip containing only the template data and a .xml for the dummy-content. that was easy to handle. If you or anyone else could give advice I´d be greatful. I really want to get started with that mouthwatering theme of yours!!

Hi Nitrox. Amazing stuff! I can see how the mind of a flash developer would create something this sweet. I have a question about the Images used in the slides on the main page.

I am trying to determine what the optimum file size is for the images. In the download you have the same size for the ‘resized’ and the ‘full’ but if I put a larger image in the full directory – will it display in more detail on a computer screen or is that not how this works? Sorry if it is a simple question I just want to understand this part.

I noticed tjat you have PHP files listed. To what level do you require this to run the site? Will it work as a flat HTML/CSS/JS only? Thanks.

I am noticing that the large slide show images are not loading in Tablet landscape mode (testing iOS thus far). Can you provide a fix for this? Everything else is looking and behaving great! Thank you.

is there a way to optimize the loading time of the front page? I remarked that there are 5.7MB, the total size of the objects needed to preload before front page will be displayed. And 4MB are only the SVG fonts requested. Do we need all that 4 versions of Opensans SVG fonts? each one has 1MB.

I’m having a problem with the photo grid page. When I’m testing locally everything works correctly but when I upload it to my server the loading box appears, disappears, then reappears but never loads any images. Any idea on what could cause this?

I’m using the PHP file. I just replaced the images.

Hi Nitrox, I just noticed one more bug. In Safari only, there is a preload glitch. On the Case Study pages I’m seeing a video frame pop up before the page loads in the spots where a video will be. Chrome and Firefox are both good. Please let me know if you can create or suggest a fix for this. Thanks again.

Great job! I love ur work. I’m having an issue with the contact form, it wont send the mail to me. My server is setup correctly, I’ve run other sites with php contact forms off the same server with success.

I had the same problem with the contact form. I added the following code

Couple comments here: First: @laurian3000 One option for you would be to convert the fonts to the base64 equivelant, and put that into your CSS. The problem with this, it makes your CSS huge, but if you are gzipping, then there should be no issue.

Also, I have successfully concatenated and minified all necessary scripts and stylesheets. If you can do this, and move the scripts to the bottom of your page, you should see a decent improvement in load time.

Second: Just in case anyone needs to do something like this… I had an issue (my own), where on my laptop’s screen and clicking a link inside the menu, the menu would stay open until I mousedout. While on bigger screens this is not an issue, however, smaller screens could cause a display issue where the menu simply covers most of the content. A quick cure: Right around line 229 in main.src.js you should see finishLoading: function(){ if you put in the following line template.dock.header.menu.close(); it will close the menu once the loading of the page is completed.

Here is another little snippet for the masses. This will allow you to set other links to load like they do when you click an item in the main menu. Put this in your jQuery load event

1) If we want to use multiple category PHP ajax_portfolio files, where is the ajax.php code called for within a gallery page so we could change that reference accordingly?

2) Is it possible to include an external link in the dock and not have the preload icon + grey background load automatically?

How to make the menu is automatically displayed when someone comes to the site?

I would like to display the menu automatically when you open the site because it is not clear that we must rely on a small link to view it. Everyone is not devin;-)
