Luckykind, can this theme be used with POSTEROUS ? As I understand it, most Tumblr themes will work with Posterous, but not all. I’m all about Posterous as a supplement to my Wordpress Blog, and would jump at the opportunity to use this theme there.

luckykind

Hey Russell,

Unfortunately, mine won’t as Posterous doesn’t support Javascript… (one of the main reasons, there’s very little in the way of premium themes for it… at least that I know of…)

I may, in the future, see how I can change this theme over to work with Posterous… I just don’t have the time at this moment… and it won’t have near as many of the features this one has without Javascript support…

Sure wish there was a way to migrate my Wordpress blog to a Tumblr because this theme would be great! Nicely done and GL with sales

luckykind

This may help if you’re interested in moving from WP to Tumblr…

I’m also going to keep an eye out for how well this does and maybe making a WP version depending on it’s success… we’ll see though.

Thanks for the praise and luck! :)

Thanks for the link, I will have to check that out. I love WP and all but its too much for what I want and thats just an easy way to blog…quickly lol Thanks again.

I just bought your theme but, I copied and pasted it into the theme box, but when I try to save it I got an error message: invalid sustom theme html.

Any ideas?

luckykind

Not sure why you’re having this issue… I just made a new text tumblr blog, copied and pasted it in there… and it worked fine. Might have just been a hiccup from tumblr around the time you were implementing it…

Please start over… remove any of the current code (just in case you accidentally missed copying something the first time)... save it, then copy & paste it again…

If it’s still not working… please email me through the form on my profile page with your browser and operating system information… and I’ll see if I can’t dive further into what the problem is.

Thanks for the purchase! :)

I just bought this theme and the search button is cut off and also I was wondering if you could help me with making the content wider so I can embed videos from sites.

Thanks.

luckykind

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the purchase… I tracked down your site and the search button isn’t cut off in any of the major browsers that I can see… so I’m guessing you fixed this.

As far as widening it, it’s really not built to be any wider… and would take a bit of customization of the content/sidebar to do so… as far as adding video, Tumblr works great with youtube/vimeo… if it’s from another source, most of the time it’s as easy as changing the aspect ratio in the object and embed tags. The videos max width should be 400, and you can calculate the height with an aspect ratio calculator (eg. http://andrew.hedges.name/experiments/aspect_ratio/)...

The TED video embed links put some funny kind of frame around it that’s messing up the height… I’ll look into seeing if I can’t fix some of the height issues in a later updated version… but for right now, the best I can give you to fix that is to reduce TED videos to about 280×205 to get the entire thing to fit…

Let me know if you have any more questions and thanks again for the purchase. :)

luckykind

Hi Chris, and update has been released to better support TED .com videos… Thx!

Thanks for the Theme!

I am customizing the crap out of this theme. I have been looking for something like this for a while now. I had been hesitant about moving over to Tumblr from WP and you are the solution.

Thanks!

If you have a disqus account (http://disqus.com/) it’s pretty easy to set up with tumblr…

Count me as another satisfied customer. I hope you have more Tumblr themes coming.

I have to Q:

1) Will you be updating to support new Tumblr features, like “Community” feature “replies.”

2) Social sharing is bigger than Tumblr reblogging? Is there an easy place/way for putting in sharing options so readers can share easily posts with Facebook, Google Buzz and other services?

Thanks

luckykind

Thanks Joe. both for your purchase and your praise…

Great questions also…

1) The Community/Replies feature is still relatively new, and I believe it’s only available on the dashboard now… as they fine tune it, hopefully they’ll be more of a way to build it into the theme, and when that happens… you can expect that I’ll add support for that…

2) Great question… and you’re right that adding a sharing option would enhance the the theme and overall readers experience… Give me a little bit of time and I’ll see if I can or can’t implement something to help with this some how…

Default-user

I got to thinking this morning that Disqus might have some social sharing features built. If there was an easier way to add Disqus to theme, perhaps that would be enough. I haven’t looked at Disqus recently.

luckykind

As far as I know… all you have to do is sign up for a Disqus account for your blog… select that you want to use it for Tumblr… and then after that inside Tumblr under Customize > Appearance there’ll be an option for Disqus Shortname and you just fill that box in and Disqus is applied… try that and let me know if you have any problems with it…

Default-user

Mmm. I don’t see Disqus shortname option for this theme. But if I change to another theme, it is available.

Thanks,

Joe

luckykind

Ah… you’re quite right sir…

Give me sometime (a day or two) and I’ll have an update.

I’ll keep you posted here. Thx

luckykind

DISQUS support is now available with the new update. Thanks!

Great theme! I appreciate your hard work in designing it and in connecting here with the community. Three things (in addition to Disqus compatibility discussed above) before I decide to purchase it:

1) Is there a way to get it to display the number of notes (likes/reblogs) on the front page, preferably by the tags?

2) I’d like to add additional links next to the Archive and RSS ones—is this possible just by inserting basic html links?

3) Is it possible to add/replace the sidebar boxes? I’d love to get rid of the Likes box, and add in links to my social networks, for example.

Thanks again for a great product and the support (and, nice job to Ben for his customization of an already sweet theme)!

luckykind

Hi bucladak… :)

1) This has already been added… look on the fourth post down & some of the others and you’ll see that below the tags is the number of notes.

2) Yes, it’s just a basic unordered list so you just need to know a little basic html and it’s fairly easy.

3) The “Likes” box is triggered when a user sets up “Share My Likes” under their account preference page. To get rid of that you can either not share your Likes, or just remove the code that sits in that area and replace it with whatever you’d like.

Hope that helps…

Default-user

Thanks so much for the quick response. Looks like I’ve found my new theme—can’t wait!

Regarding disqus commenting, since it works on any tumblr blog (http://disqus.com/comments/tumblr/) , it will definitely work on this one—it’s just a matter of implementing it so that it looks slick (which I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out). I agree with others though, that some “share this” plugin type stuff would be awesome as well!

Just want to give everybody an update…

I hope to have an update in tomorrow ( then it’s just a matter of when it will be reviewed) but it will include the DISQUS additions, as well as some minor rearrangements making way for the new Tumblr PAGES option… as well as some better fixes for TED videos and their abnormal frame embedding w/ their videos…

Stay tuned, hope to get them through the review tomorrow and do a quick screencast on some of the new features.

Thx!

What an unexpected surprise. Disqus and Pages support. Thanks, it’s terrific customer service. Suddenly I’m excited thinking about what other Tumblr themes you might follow-up with.

That makes me think about following. Could you add people we’re following in a future update? No rush and not necessary, just a nicety.

Again, thanks for taking the time to make this wonderful theme even better.

Joe

luckykind

I definitely have plans for future Tumblr Themes… though I wish the powers here put a little extra effort on showcasing the Tumblr themes category.

As far as the following section, I’ll keep that in mind for the next update… Probably more around the time Tumblr gets their “Replies” feature worked out… but if I have sometime before then, I’ll look to see how I can add it in. :)

I agree, tumblr themes deserve more than to be hidden away under “Misc.”

there’s definitely a major shortage of pro-calibre tumblr themes in the world, themeforest could easily corner that little market.

Hi luckykind, I just bought your theme and I realized it is not for wordpress, it is for Tumblr :(

Is it possible somehow to get Tumblr up on your own server? I am really goo din WP codding, but I don’t see there is any web page with Tumblr download link, so I guess Tumblr is only possible with free online hosting. Is that right?

Is there any chance merging your theme in WP?

It would be the great if you could answer asap.

Thank you!

luckykind

Hi euphoriajoca,

Thanks for your purchase… as of right now, you can only host a Tumblr account at Tumblr…

As for turning it into a Wordpress Theme… I’ve had a couple of requests to do so, I might look into converting it some time in the future… however, It’s unlikely that it will happen anytime soon as I have a lot on my plate that I’m dealing with right now. Probably not the answer you’re looking for so I apologize, but you can check back in my portfolio every once in awhile and see if I’ve converted it.

Thanks again!...

Hey great theme – couple of points that would really take it to the next level

- ability to add subtitle under main header

- social buttons (as said above)

- more flexibility with widgets in side bar – would be great to be able to have HTML box where you paste in code (e.g. from Amazon/ Facebook etc), or have a ‘blogroll’ type link list

I’ve tried to add some of these but are struggling with others

www.enlightenedlondon.co.uk

I can get the widgets to appear but I’m struggling to get them centred and looking neat rather than aligned to the left.

Many thanks anyway

luckykind

I’m waiting on a couple of features Tumblr is working on, mainly the replies, and once they’re live for the public… I’m going to do another update and include some if not all of these features as well… of course, if Tumblr takes too long… I’ll update these features anyways :)... just working on some other stuff for the time being and it’s easier for you and me to get all the updates at once…

Send me a note through the form on my profile page and I’ll show you how to fix those alignment issues w/ the social buttons.

Thanks for your purchase!

Hi I just purchased this theme for tumblr and I’m anxious to use it but I have no idea how to put this theme on my page. Can you give me directions so I can use it? Sorry I’m not computer savvy. :-(

luckykind

Make sure you are opening the index.html file as a plain text file and not as a rich text file.

Then from the Documentation:

Go to Tumblr and click on the “Customize” link for your Tumblr blog. Click on “Theme” on the top bar and then click “Custom HTML ”. Now Copy and Paste the code inside the index.html file over the code in the Custom HTML window.

That should work for you… let me know how it works out. :)
