DISQUS Commenting System Notes
Tumblr is working on building their “replies” feature for commenting. Until then support has been added to be able to use the DISQUS commenting system. However, I’ve noticed during peak hours that using this feature slows down load time as it pulls from their servers. DISQUS is working on a solution (read here: http://blog.disqus.com/post/397517128/making-disqus-faster and here: http://blog.disqus.com/post/424494077/faster-disqus-for-everybody ) yet it’s still in an early phase. When using it and not using it you’ll notice a big difference in load time. One thing that will improve speed while using it is having less posts per page.
My personal advice is it’s okay to use for now but when Tumblr works out the kinks on it’s own “replies” feature, be ready to switch because an in-house solution is usually better than an outside solution in the long run, IMO.
I’ve copied and pasted the code into Tumblr’s customization menu, but I keep getting an “invalid HTML” error?
Make sure you are opening the index.html file as a plain text file and not as a rich text file.
How do I open as the file as plain text?
