Again, again…! A very good job :)

Just a question: is it possible to get a floating menu (the colored one) and to hide the secondary menu?

wpbandit

Pretty much everything you can see in the theme can be enabled and disabled – so yes, you can use only one menu if you want (hope I understand you correctly).

xywe

And the colored menu could it be floating? And another question… :D Do you plan to create a “standard” blog layout (big or small images)?

wpbandit

Re: blog layout – Possibly, if there is a demand for it we’re always open to adding new features :)

As for floating menu – do you mean you basically want to switch places on the menus and disable the top one? All that needs to be done to do that is changing id=”nav-subheader” to id=”nav-header” in header.php I believe.

xywe

OK for the blog layout.

For the floating menu, I just want that the colored menu stay “locked” when the page go down (example: http://themes.activetofocus.com/alterna/demo/).

Is it possible and simple? :)

wpbandit

Ah, now I understand – yes it would be pretty simple:

Adding something like this to your custom.css:
@media only screen and (min-width: 961px) {
#nav-header.nav-container { position: fixed; top: 0; width: 100%; z-index: 99; }
.body-wrapper { margin-top: 48px; }
}

Will keep it fixed at the top of the browser when scrolling down, down to 960px screen width. So, it would be disabled for phones / portrait tablets with that code above.

Great! Awesome! :D;) Thanks! Excellent support :)

i use featured images ( to display thumbnail ) in my old wordpress theme and would like to install yours. but with your post format system, do i need rebuild all my articles ? thanks for your answer

wpbandit

Our theme uses featured images for thumbnails as well. Your posts would be standard format posts though, as that is default. So, to make the image appear in the header on single pages you would need to set “image format post” for example.

Fantastic theme. One question; how would this theme go with using DISQUS comments? Any conflicts?

That’s the only thing I see myself adding to this theme.

wpbandit

We haven’t tested with Disqus yet – however I’m pretty sure it will work, as we recently restructured our themes to use default comments form and WordPress best practices structure-wise for plugin compatibility. So almost certainly, yes.

Hi, great theme.

Do you have this theme in HTML?

Thanks.

wpbandit

Thank you – we do not have this as a pure HTML-version – in order to get that you’d have to go through and remove the php functions out of the templates.

Hi, I got some questions:

1) on the homepage, can we define a rightbar instead of leftbar? 2) can the post layout bars be different than the homepage bars? 3) what is the customization possible? Ex: on the homepage, what kind of posts display is possible? I see we can have posts display preview with excert in a big square format, but is it possible to have list or something? Carousel? etc… How customizable is it for a magazine website?

wpbandit

1) Yes, sidebar can be set left or right from admin panel – but then for the whole layout. If you only want it on the frontpage you can fix it easily with a minor class change in index.php. See screenshots on TF to see how sidebar right looks.

2) Bars = as in sidebars? If you do a tiny edit to index.php, which (change a class name from sidebar-left to sidebar-right), then yes.

3) On homepage, the recent section with pagination is the standard loop. The structure is like this with everything enabled:

- Featured posts (slider) - Highlights section (3 posts) - 2 widget columns (here you can add anything you want, but with our post/tab widget you can list popular / recent posts from specific categories, comments or tags) - The loop (most recent posts + pagination) - 2 widget columns, same as above.

The widget columns give you a lot of freedom over what type of content to show on the frontpage.

The way the theme lists posts (image above, excerpt below) is the way the theme is designed. You can easily get rid of the excerpt if you only want to show titles. If you want a vertical list, we have another theme called Newsroom with similar features.

Can we have more screenshots of the widgets area?

Thanks!

wpbandit

Here is a quick example I made just now (ignore the “Tabs” widget titles) View image. Red arrows = where you can put as many widgets as you want. On this pic it shows most popular / most recent posts from specific categories with our post/tab widget.

The demo website has the bottom area enabled.

Is there any change to make top menu (blue one) sticky? (It would be awesome if it is accessible from everywhere (on big screens)) And is it possible to add some delay between mouseout and dropdown menu close?

wpbandit
Adding something like this to your custom.css:
@media only screen and (min-width: 961px) {
#nav-header.nav-container { position: fixed; top: 0; width: 100%; z-index: 99; }
.body-wrapper { margin-top: 48px; }
}

Will keep it fixed at the top of the browser when scrolling down, down to 960px screen width. So, it would be disabled for phones / portrait tablets with that code above.

As for a delay, it’s a good suggestion. We’ll see if it’s something we may include in the future.

Nice looking theme.

Staff Picks, Recent Posts, Search options at footer – Are those 3 different widgets? Can we put any other widget there?

Also can we change footer background color from black to something else?

wpbandit

Thanks. Yea – all three are different widgets in separate widget-columns.

To fix footer background color, you would need to edit CSS – there is no one-click thing to change it, as widgets are designed to fit for that color.

Uploaded the zip file but says it failed bc it doesnt contain the css style sheet.

wpbandit

You are uploading theme-package.zip – make sure to first unzip that pack (it includes documentation, resources etc). Inside of this, there should be a typegrid.zip – that is the one you should upload.

Ok. Ill give it a try. Thanks.

Howdy. Nice theme! I am interested, how would post without featured image look in the category-page? Will there be whitespace or some default image? I have a news-site with posts mainly without images and that’s why it is so relevant in my case.

wpbandit

Hi! Currently, there is a “placeholder.png” image if no featured image is set. However, with a quick edit in the loop.php file, you can get rid of the placeholder. Would look something along these lines (search results for pages with no images) View.

Thanx for quick reply!

A near perfect theme – beautiful in it’s own right, and deserves more than 5 starts… but needs to include a rating/reviews system so common (and necessary) to magazine style themes. Any chance it might be included in an update?

wpbandit

Cheers. We will need to research review systems a bit, as I’m not totally clear over what requirements would be to make it as flexible as possible (haven’t used one myself). It is definitely a good fit for this theme, I agree.

I’m putting this on our to-do list to look into for a future update.

Much apprechiated feedback, as this is something we’ve completely forgotten to consider. I understand it’s important, if you for example have a tech magazine and review hardware or whatever.
