Hello , how do the multilingual part works ? is it possibel to see a screen shut from the admin panel. My site is going to be in english and arabaic..

AndonDesign

Hi,

to create a multiligual site with WordPress you will need to use a third party plugin like WPML or qTranslat (there are others too). However, Arabic might be RTL (Right to Left) language and the theme doesn’t support it. More on the subject of translating your WordPress site could be found in the codex pages: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language

For the backend screenshot, here’s one, just keep in mind that it’s a bit outdated so I’ve added a few new features since: http://3.s3.envato.com/files/54607476/Screenshots/02_OptionsPage.jpg

Weirdness. I try accessing the support forum with my purchase code and it says my purchase code doesn’t exist.

AndonDesign

could be in combo with the Envato username you specified. I’ll setup your account for you just email me. You can send me an email through my Profile page.

Thanks

Hey Andon,

Do you have any plans to integrate the shortcodes into the visual editor? It would just make it easier to implement the shortcodes in a page using a drop down menu rather than going to your support pages and copying and pasting.

Cheers!

AndonDesign

yes, please post to the forum. That “U-Design Shortcode Insert Button” plugin is actually not external, it ships with the theme so the firewall should not interfere :)

Cheers

I’ve posted the ticket under username OEST. Interesting you mention that the plugin comes with the theme, I never saw any trace of it and it is yet to be installed according to ‘install plugins’ under appearance menu. Anyhow, full details on the support forum.

thanks andon

AndonDesign

I see Josh already responded to your question. You won’t see the plugins laying around, please refer to the theme’s Documentation to see the proper way to install them. Let’s move this discussion to the forum.

Thanks

Hey Andon, are there any new U-design updates coming within the next month or two? I was going to download this update today but I figured I might as well just ask because I really don’t need an update on my site at this moment but if there is a new update coming up with more features I will wait..

btw, anyone thinking of buying this theme, go for it! I will tell you that it’s a little bit slow (because it has a lot of different files loading in an unoptimized fashion, according to YSLOW, Google Page Speed & GTMetrix but with a couple hours of editing core files you can get the score much higher if you know what you’re doing) but there isn’t another theme out there that I’ve seen as well rounded as U-design in my opinion.

AndonDesign

Hi gkamproductions,

yes, I’m planning an update soon, hopefully within the next couple of weeks, .. or so, we’ll see, can’t promise you a specific date because I don’t know at this point, I’m working on some updates but until done and tested them I won’t have a specific date :)

Glad you like the theme, also I would disagree with your statement that the theme is slow because it’s not, just check out the theme’s demo site: http://dreamthemedesign.com/themes/u-design/

It’s got no special optimizations other than throwing in W3 Total Cache plugin, which is a great caching plugin I would recommend to anyone to generally improve performance of their WordPress site. Nowadays many hosting providers even recommend their clients use a caching WordPress plugin to ease the load on their servers. Generally the more complex a theme is the more is going on within it and you can’t expect it to act like a flat HTML file on a minimalistic theme :) It’s a compromise, you want to have a theme that does a lot of things and be flexible and offer many options, well then you can’t expect it to load as a simple HTML page. If you need to discuss this further please post to the support forum.

Thanks

Hi andon, Iv just purchased your theme, im wondering if it is ok to test your them on a test domain before i use it on my customers site? is that ok? or does it break the individual license?

AndonDesign

Hi,

I don’t see any issue with that as long as you just use it for testing and only one site will be used publicly. I think it’s a great idea and practice to have a staging site or a clone site of the real one for testing purposes before going live :)

Thats great. il keep that in mind.

HI, quick pre-sales question: awesome theme and might work for our site revamps for 2014. Quick question: as we’re starting to deal with the Google PageSpeed and ySlow optimizations for all our sites, I was curious if you’ve done updated “optimization” for all the Google PageSpeed checklist items? While we have a CDN, have been using WP since 2005, and are aware of all the caching options, looking for cleanest possible root code as starting point. Many webdevs now looking for “PageSpeed Optimized” when shopping on Themeforest and elsewhere. Would love some info/feedback on your implementation of these issues, which are now as critical for SEO as meta data, h1 tags, blah blah. Thanks! :-)

AndonDesign

Hi,

thanks for your interest.

In more recent updates I moved all the theme’s JavaScripts to the bottom rather than the “head” of the page, also user custom options related styles are now saved to a static CSS files which could easily be cached and thus much faster. The rest could be addressed with Caching plugins like W3 Total Cache which offers so many options.

SEO and SPEED are my priorities when I do theme updates, so when I implement new features I always have those two in mind :)

Hi, based on the high quality of your work and other details, I wasn’t worried; just had run into some terribly bloated themes this week (30+ calls to CSS/js files), etc. Thanks for the super fast reply … if you’re working weekends then you must be good ;-0 -Chris

AndonDesign

always… ;)

Generally, it’s easy to place all CSS in one file and optimize it, however a theme like that will not be very user friendly if you’re trying to understand how things work or look for information within that file, so it’s not a bad thing to structure and organize the CSS within a few files and of course one should not overdo it ;)

Caching plugins like W3 Total Cache give you the option to combine all CSS files into one so that’s not an issue.

Absolutely correct. You walk a fine line between minified elements and needing the ease of use for customizers who need to tweak at the theme level and not just in child theme.

Just placed order, so going to go grab my purchase code stuff and register for support forum. :-)

AndonDesign

sounds good, thanks for the purchase and if you have any questions or issues just ask at the forum :)

Hi,

I’m in love with your theme and considering purchasing it for my client’s site I’m designing just now. :)

I’d like to do some modifications to make my site more like this:

http://dreamthemedesign.com/themes/u-design/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/galaxymarbletile.com_.jpg

Or this: http://dreamthemedesign.com/themes/u-design/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/enchantedridge.com-by-christopherpadilla.com_.jpg

Or this: http://dreamthemedesign.com/themes/u-design/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/cobblecreekcustomhomes.com_.jpg

Specifically, to change the background behind the slider, and put a wider logo in the header/logo area. Can you tell me how easy this is?

Also, to create the border around the slider in the cobble creek example?

Thank you very much!

AndonDesign

Hi SandiF,

thanks for your interest in the “U-Design” theme :)

It would be very easy to set a background behind the slider and also the frame, it’s all done from the theme’s admin settings area.

Would there be a reason why pages are showing up blank – even though in draft/edit mode the information is fine? All pages except for the home page are having this issue. Running Wordpress 3.6.

AndonDesign

sounds like it could be WP Recursion limit related. Please post your question to the support forum and we’ll see if we could figure something out to help you resolve this. You can subscribe to the Support Forum HERE.

Hi A pre-sales Q. I absolutely love the Top Background image option and tons of other options, down to the nitty-grittys.

My query: While using Rev. slider, AutoResponsive, Under Mobile, Hide Slider Under options, even if I put 200px, the slider vanishes even on tablet screens. Any ideas?

As of now, layerslider can only be put inside page and I miss out on using content-before content-after widgets. Do you plan to put (in future version) an option to support directly, from the admin itself?

Lastly, the Peel disappears in desktop, and only reappears for tablet-views. Its a wonderful and unique feature I want to use.

I have a couple of pre sales questions.

1. I actually don’t get what kind of features this theme really is offering. Going to the demo site really doesn’t help me out. 2. Is it actually retina ready? 3. Does it work with Wp 3.7+

AndonDesign

Hi,

thanks for your interest in the “U-Design” theme.

Yes, the theme is compatible with the latest WordPress actually the demo is running on WP 3.7.1, as for retina, it does provide an option to enable retina.

Is it updated to the latest version of wordpress 3.7.1?

AndonDesign

Yes, of course :)

Hi there, amazing amazing theme. Very impressive.

May I ask, if we buy this theme, how do we go about getting the dummy data for the woo commerce integration. Does it come with the theme ?

If not, how much is it for the files and dummy data. We have 2 projects and we want to use the woo commerce styled theme for one and the normal theme for the other.

Please let me know.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks

Ben

AndonDesign

Hi,

thanks for your interest in the “U-Design” theme.

For the WooCommerce I do provide a tutorial in the theme’s support forum on how to create the same look and feel as I have in the TeaTime demo site, however the content is not provided. There was nothing special about settings up that content, there’s very little to setup really… it’s just a few products which took me an hour to setup, however those images of tea you see there are copyrighted (single site use license), I don’t have distribution rights that’s why I can’t give those away, you’re going to use your own images anyways, so I don’t think it’s such a big deal.
