Hi,

Pre-sales question

I’m currently using Simplicity by Woothemes and I was wanting to move to a responsive theme but currently Woo don’t support one of my key requirements:

I was wanting to have the same overall layout as my simplicity theme

Slider at top and then underneath a side column widget area and the main space for feature posts (In other words can I also have a widgetised main area where I can use Woo Features, etc)

As a church I prefer a slightly “messier” front page where there is quite a bit of info rather than a clean and you have to dig right the way down look.

Our website is springfieldchurch.org.uk

Many thanks for any help

Best wishes

Hi,

yes, you can setup your home base with Widgets in various of combinations, columns, etc, that’s not a problem. Just be advised that “U-Design” is also not responsive at this time.

Oh drat, what a shame! Do you have any plans to make it responsive?

AndonDesign

Yes, but I don’t have a date to give you, keep in mind that when this theme was release first in the Spring of 2011 there were no responsive themes here on ThemeForest, this “movement” came later into play, so it’s harder to convert themes that were coded differently prior to that, especially whenever I have to consider the existing client base of thousands of users of the theme, so things need to be done properly.

Hi, I own one theme license, and am looking into getting a second for another site. Love the theme.

Quick question, in the demo here: http://idesignmywebsite.com/u-design-shop/ can that style of slider be setup to have links for each slide (to pages). Thanks.

AndonDesign

Yes, of course, go and check the settings of the Cycle 3 slider and you’ll see that each slide offers a “Link” field to specify a URL to link to.

Cheers

SOrry forgot one question about. Can this layout: http://idesignmywebsite.com/u-design-shop/ also be adjusted to have some gap/padding at the top and bottom so the main area area isn’t touching the top and bottom? Like a full box effect to the content area?

Thanks.

Hi there Pre sale question:

Does this theme supports Hebrew? for example, can I move the logo to the right and the social menu to the left?

Thanks

AndonDesign

Hi,

if you mean RTL (Right to Left orientation), no.

I like this theme.

The filter/sorting for the portfolio screens looks like quicksand? (New to this… trying to learn the techniques / terminology.)

Can you do that same filtering treatment for the blogs? And… can you do them on the homepage? We would like to assign categories to the blog entries, and then allow them to be filtered on the homepage.

Thanks.

AndonDesign

Hi,

it’s not quicksand, I found a better solution called “Isotope”, at least in my opinion and for the needs of the theme it’s better: http://isotope.metafizzy.co/

I have implemented it for the Sortable Portfolio ONLY, if you need it for Blog or any other page you’ll have to custom code it. If you think you could setup your Blog as a Portfolio that would work also.

PRESALE QUESTION: can the theme be boxed OR wide? If it can be boxed, can i have a custom background image?

can I have a widgeted area next to the slider? example: have a slider that is 710 pix wide and a widget area that is 250 wide?

thank you in advance

AndonDesign

Hi,

thank you for your interest.

The theme’s main/content area is fixed-width at 960px, the background colors and images you assign however can be any width, they could full-width or any fixed width you create them to be. Having said that it’s very easy to achieve a boxed layout with background images. Have a look at the theme’s SHOWCASE for some examples.

As for having a widget next to the slider, you could do that as well with the newly added “Revolution Slider”, the widths might slightly vary 600px (slider) and 280px (widget).

Hello Also a pre-purchase question.. It says that I can change a color…. You mean any color at all? I like color used on this website: http://www.academiadepilates.com.br/ Would I be able to use this color? And will have have to go to CSS to change it? I am not really good with all these “tricks”.... I guess what I am trying to ask is how easy it will be?

Very often the themes look so pretty and when you buy them…. they don’t look nearly as pretty as what it is shown on a sales page…

Thank you

AndonDesign

Hi DaphneMoon,

thank you for your interest in the “U-Design” theme.

Yes, you can easily change the colors in this theme, you don’t need to code any CSS to change the color. You just select the color with a color-picker and save it. :)

First of all, sorry for my English. I purchased this wonderful theme U-Design for two years, I have my license on two pages. I want to externalize my total satisfaction with the quality and versatility of the product of exceptional professionalism. Anceh if you are not prepared with worpress, html, css etc.. you can very easily create a web page high elegance. But this, in my humble opinion and of little worth. The extraordinary aspect that deserves my apllauso (chapeau) is the extraordinary assistance of Andom (internq7) who always answered my email, without getting bored. Thanks Andom internq7 you are the best. Gianni Chef http://www.albertoischia.it/ and Photographer http://www.corsofotografia.org/

When this theme will be responsive? :)

AndonDesign

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in the theme!

The theme works and looks great in all popular mobiles.
I’m looking into making the theme “responsive” but for the moment I don’t have any firm future date to give you, hopefully not too long… ;) Alternatively, there are services like http://www.dudamobile.com/ and plugins like WPTouch that will give you a mobile version of any WordPress theme/site, so if that was of your concern there’s always a way around it.

Hi, not sure if this question got ask earlier, but I didn’t felt looking trough all these pages. ( They should make a Search Field in the comments section)

Anyway. Thanks again for this great template, I am looking to remove the ” Back to Top ” at the bottom of the Website.

Thanks,

Alex

I am interested in changing the background color of my website, my intention is to have it all white. White header, white slider, white footer, etc. I know it is possible to do it but when I try I still see a line between the header and slider and also between the footer and content. It’s possible to edit those lines to make them thicker or darker?

Dear Friends. Of course the Udesign is a good theme but I do have a problem with the author showing us his “showcase”. Many of those examples involve customization and photoshop which is very expensive. It is kind of misleading I am sure you will agree.

Thanks a lot. All my questions have been responded within the forum within a few hours. I do not know whether it was you, but Chris B answered me questions and told me how to do the edits that I wanted to. I am really happy with this template, this is one of my favorite ones, Indeed I am using it for my own web design business. Again thanks a lot, the 2 things I could not do through the cpanel that comes with the theme I can fix them after the excellent customer service I received at the forum you pointed. Keep it up! I am working on a new website for a software company and we are using your theme – we are all very happy with the results. Thanks!

Hello I have a question. I know this theme is Internationalized (translation ready), but is it also multilingual? Can I have multiple pages at this theme with different language options? Is that the same thing?

Thank you!

AndonDesign

Yes, it is the same thing, the main, most important thing is to be Internationalized, which means you could have it in any language and also multilingual. The multilingual functionality will be facilitated by a WordPress plugin like WPML or qTranslate, and of course you have to make sure the theme has been translated (localized) for the languages you need. :)

Cheers

Hi,

We’ve recently purchased and installed the U-Design theme and we are facing a problem with certain blog posts not being displayed at all.

We’ve updated all plug-ins and deactivated them for good measure and updated the Wordpress to the latest version. Deactivating the theme also “cures” the problem.

The problem seems to be related when links and images are dropped in to the blog post itself. Whilst the data itself is saved it isn’t rendered by the page. It appears to be related to the number of links in one paragraph or something weird like that – as if it is treating the blog post as spam and stripping it out.

So for example this text won’t display:

snip

You may remember our previous blog post about the difficulties faced by former Olympic torchbearers wishing to sell their torches on eBay. Well, in June LOCOG (the London Olympics organisation committee) set up an official auction site for the sale of over 1000 Olympic torches and other items of Olympic memorabilia. The aim of the auction is to raise money to go towards subsidising the cost of the games. The auction has met with great success so far – the torch of David Beckham alone has raised over £13, 000.

snip

But if one of the links are removed it will render on the page. If the paragraph is split so that one link appears in each paragraph then it renders fine. Additionally if the URLs are removed from the HREF tags and replaced with other links on other sites or replaced with a # then the post renders fine.

Also if you look at the page in Firebug then the text itself has not been added to the page. It’s just being stripped out at the point the page is being rendered.

Why is this?

AndonDesign

Hi,

Thank you for choosing the “U-Design” theme!

Please post any support related questions to the theme’s support forum. This sounds like a WordPress “recursion limit” related issue: http://www.undermyhat.org/blog/2009/07/sudden-empty-blank-page-for-large-posts-with-wordpress/ there’s actually an easy fix for it, post your question to the forum and we’ll give you further instructions on how to fix it.

I will post in your support forum.

However I don’t see it being the problem you outline. If that were the case then the problem would exist under different theme – which it doesn’t. The blog posts (there are many) display perfectly well on our old site, but don’t with the U-Design theme – I am afraid….

Default-user

I just can’t register on your support forum. It keeps telling me that I have an “Invalid Envato Username”. I’ve tried about 20 different names, and had to negotiate the capcha every single time (grrrr). I’ve tried both Safari and Firefox on Snow Leopard. I’ve tried everything – even bizarre number based usernames like 1234567890 – that can’t already be taken!! It won’t take an email address and it won’t take anything too long. I’m totally stumped.

This is getting very frustrating indeed. I just want to get this problem fixed.

AndonDesign

OK, email me and I’ll set you up. You can send me an email through my Profile page.

Thanks
