I think the questions everyone is thinking about are like, - is it easy to work with? - is it stabil? - how much freedom do i have in creating my own wishes? - i am a beginner, do i have to worry about getting things done all by myself?
I bought this theme after doing a small comparison between this and some other themes. - First it is really easy to work with, all features in one place and very easy to get a overview - Second i did not see any wrong things or bugs so far, it seems to run very smooth - as far as i saw you do have a lot of freedom creating your own brand site, colors, logo, header, footer, background even fonts are very easy to change. the skilled ones can even access the code… - i am a beginner…. i did 3 smaller wordpress sites (all with free themes btw) and it was always like not thaaat perfect or easy to work with…. had a lot of things to fix and stuff. And i have to say i always hated everything computer based but now i was forced to deal with…
This theme even gave me some very basic html skills and i improved my knowledge 1000% or something. Now from time to time i really understand all that stuff and start to like things…
I´m sure there are other very good themes out there but for me this one worked well. 50 Dollars is ok in my opinion, because it safed me some time (compared to my projects from the past) and theres a good support community where i found answers to my questions just by searching.

I am having problems getting the blog page to work. What is even odder is that when I choose the “blog” template for the blog page the Homepage Column 1-4 widget areas show up on it… I cannot seem to get the posts to show up on blog page either… I did choose the page from the settings as well…

Pre-sale questions please: Can I upload my own fonts? Can I play music? What about individual music on each portfolio page? (I don’t want the same music to play on my baby section as my men’s section of photos). Can I change the colors/fonts/backgrounds in each section? Is there an easy photo sort and drag feature within the portfolios? Can I bulk upload photos? Right click protect? Can I have a full-screen slideshow on my opening page (no margins). Also, in the portfolio pages, is it possible to open the photos full-screen with a slider or arrows? (right now they open up fairly small). Thanks!

this theme offers over 500 fonts to choose from, but no, you can’t upload your own fonts through the theme’s options page. You could do it of course with custom code. The background images and colors the theme offers are on per section basis and not on per page basis. You can’t have bulk photo upload for the general Portfolio, only for Gallery mode and also no full screen slideshow. For the right-click protect which doesn’t really give you much protection, if someone wants to get your images they still can all they need to do is disable JavaScript and they will have right-click again, so this type of right-click “protection” you can get with third party plugins. Please review the theme’s demo site, everything that the theme can do has been demonstrated there.

good question. Yes, it’s easy, there are many users of the theme that use third party sliders, most come as plugins and offer shortcode to insert an instance of the slider, which makes it easy to do with “U-Design” given it’s home page is widgetized. If you end up buying the theme and need more info just let me know then and I’ll give you further instructions.

Bought the theme recently and I am thus far very happy with it. I encountered an issue, however, that I don’t really know how to fix; when I search for something, that word is highlighted in a color that makes the word itself unreadable. Not a major issue, I’m just wondering what I have to do to fix it.

Hi, firstly thanks for the great theme, I’m just setting up and populating site now. I have noticed that when i add a portfolio and pull in all images the first image in the portfolio always shows a lot smaller than the others. Hopefully just something quick that i am missing. http://www.fawcett.co.nf/sketchup/ If you try one of the galleries there you should see what i mean.

2] Do I have an option to disable the social icons and telephone number on the top?
3] When modifying background colors where the navigation menu is placed, is there an option to match the background color of the main menu to the sub-menu?

Hi Anna,
thank you for your interest in the “U-Design” theme.
1] Yes, you can, for that I would recommend you “Cycle 1” slider, because when you just provide one slide/image then it stays still like a static image.
2] Yes
3] Actually the main menu doesn’t have any specific background, it’s part of the top area of the theme, so you can always assign any background you’d like to the top area and thus give the top menu a background or give it a “boxed” look, it’s flexible that way.

Just one more thing about the top menu. I have studied this theme very carefully, read some comments and view the showcase. I noticed that some were able to have menu items right across 960 px (width of the theme) and under the logo. Will this happen if I keep adding menu items, or I have to do something to CSS? I know my client may ask me for that option.
Secondly, in one of the comments you mentioned UberMenu. What is your opinion ie will it work with your theme. I am just paranoid if wordpress updates let say to 3.6 and there may be a conflict between all three (theme, wp, and the plugin).

well if you only have few items then they won’t span the full width but you could easily increase the spacing b/n items with custom CSS, the theme gives you the option to align the menu left or right.
Regarding the UberMenu, I have received a lot of positive feed back from multiple users that it works, you could even see it in some of the Showcase examples implemented. UberMenu is a big project and it will not be abandoned any time soon I would think.
