Three quick questions…
Is this theme natively “responsive” for display on mobile devices? (Not just the “responsive slider”, but the entire theme?)
Can a custom primary menu be defined specifically for mobile devices, where clients would like to present a smaller subset of total pages?
Are all future updates included with the original purchase price?

I’m looking into making the theme “responsive” soon but for the moment I don’t have any firm future date to give you. Alternatively, there are services like http://www.dudamobile.com/ and plugins like WPTouch that will give you a mobile version of any WordPress theme/site, so if that was of your concern there’s always a way around it.

I love this theme and it has developed well over the years but its not responsive so I cannot use it for my next project.
Are you going to make a U-Design 2 responsive theme? If not, how about a responsive child theme for U-Design?

How is U-Design 2 progressing? When can we expect to see an alpha or beta?
I’m not close to completion, so if you need a responsive theme urgently go ahead and use another theme. Now WooComm plugin is releasing a mile stone update 2.0 so I need to give that attention to make sure the existing U-Design – WooComm integration works.
I’ll be posting announcements or updates in the support forum.

This theme looks good, but I have a pre-sales question.
I notice that the demo themes have pictures in tabs, columns, etc.
But it looks like that would need to be coded? I see a lot of “YOUR CONTENT HERE” when I look at the features.
Is this just a newbie misunderstanding of how these sort of things would get setup?

some of the layouts you see in the demo site are generated with the help of the so called WordPress Shortcodes, I did that to demonstrate them Those are actually provided to make your life easier, for example with a copy/paste of a button shortcode you could have yourself a nice button, all you need to provide is a link and colors if you would like to customize the button, if not just go with the defaults. The theme offers shortcodes for various things, for instance you could generate columns, or add frames with shadows to images, etc, etc. If you’re new to WordPress learning to use shortcodes would be part of the learning experience, overall WordPress is much more user friendly than some other CMSs.

if you’re talking about Gzip compression, caching plugins and your hosting would allow you to do this, it’s not necessary that the theme does things that could be easily outsources to third party plugins. For example check W3 Total Cache plugin, I’m pretty sure it offers it.

thanks for the interest. Your question is too general, there are many factors that you need to consider, how much content, has it been styled specifically to the current theme, and probably most important is how well do you know WordPress, because “U-Design” is a WP theme.

Hi. I love this theme and have used it for ages now. Can I make a suggestion that I am sure a lot of people would be happy to pay extra for. A lot of themes are now coming with a facebook page that uses the info from your website and updates. Is there any chance you could do this with your brilliant theme?

Hi!
I am interested in buying this theme, it seems great. I was wondering about the navbar menu it uses, since it seems to have some functionality that other themes don’t. For example, the + signs that indicate submenus, and the fact that the submenus are built so that so that you can move the cursor diagonally across without collapsing the menu. (something that has always bothered me about hover menus!)
Does the navbar work that way right “out of the box” or are there special settings that I need to tweak to get those effects? Does this kind of navbar have a specific name?

Yes, the menu is like you see it in the demo site by default, I’ve provided an option to toggle the ”+” submenu indicator if you wish to as well as you could add menu shadow. Alternatively, you could also replace the default theme menu with “UberMenu” if you need a mega menu.

Hello, I have a pre-purchase question. Does this theme store absolute site URI or relative ones in the database (e.g. “domainname.com” instead of just ”./”). If it stores absolute URIs does it also use serialized values? This combination does not work with a sync script we need to use. Thanks for your help.

if you’re referring to the theme’s options where applicable, generally I have coded it to store relative URL’s however if you as an end user specify absolute URL for the logo or slider images for example then that’s what’s being saved, so it’s really up to you. In the CSS of course all is relative. And yes, the theme’s options are saved as serialized data in the WordPress wp_options table.
