Hello! Love the theme but am having trouble with the fluid aspect. Have used html in blocks throughout the site but the content within them is not adapting to smartphones/tablets etc. The content appears stretched out beyond the fluid layout area. Are the blocks not fluid? Or is it the fact that the code within them isn’t html5? I would be very grateful for your help! Many thanks, Elizabeth

infortis

Hello,

Everything is fluid, there must be some problem with the content you added.

To build content on custom pages, sue built-in grid system, you can read more about grid in the user guide: 6.4 Grid system

Hi, I really like the theme so far but my search results drop down shows up “below” or “behind” the menu bar. I’ve tried playing with the z-index of each file but so far have had no luck??

infortis

Hello,

There are no problems with that element, you can check in our demo, so maybe you’ve made some custom changes in the CSS? Please post a link to your site.

Hello,

I was wondering if you would recommomend this theme for someone who has no experience with magento and also im not a programmer.

I have made websites before with wordpress, also customisations with instructions. Is it easy to configure this theme in magento?

Default-user

And updating the theme and translation? Isit possible to update magento/the theme without having to add the customisations I made all over again.

infortis

Hello,

You will not find any other theme with such a good documentation as ours. The User Guide contains many tips about basic Magento functionalities but it mostly focuses on the theme. So it would be the best for you if you install Magento on your server (it’s 100% free) to test it for a while and check if it suits your needs.

It requires some time to learn, the same as any other system, but it’s currently the best e-commerce platform so it’s really worth to try.

Magento is very popular so you can find tons of useful tutorials and articles on the web. Here are some resources for start:

Translations are easy, there’s even Inline Translation tool. Customizations can be upgrade-proof if you create your own sub-theme.

Hello,

I was wondering, how is it possible for us to have flyout’s in the main wide navigation. SO in the top nav it only shows levels one(top category), level2, level3 and then it will fly out for level4.

Right now it shows all the way to level four, but this is making our navigation too deep.

Thanks,

Aaron

Thanks, I would up making a copy of our home page and hard coded the brand slider on each page. I then replaced the images and the urls. It is not as userfriendly or dynamic as what is built in, but it was the best work around I could think of.

Thanks,

Default-user

sorry I replied to the wrong post Can you tell me how I can reduce the levels shown so that it is limited to 2? I tried going into menu and setting Maximum Depth to 2, but this does not good.

infortis

Please check this in the user guide: 4.5.3 Depth of the menu This has to work, refresh the cache after that. You may also need to reindex.

Hi!

I got a problem with the logo, which is shown on the German Shopview but in the English Shopview it just shows the text of the domain.(as if the picture isn’t there). Solution?

Regards,

Alex

infortis

Hello,

Logo can be set in Magento’s settings (it is not part of the theme) individually for each store view so you need to specify correct path to logo for all store views.

ah ok that makes sense, thought its universal. thanks

infortis

It can be universal if you set it for scope Default Config (all store views).

Hello,

skin\frontend\ultimo\default\images\sprite.png + skin\frontend\ultimo\default\images\sprite@2x.png

To find images and CSS it’s best to use Firebug (add-on for Firefox: http://getfirebug.com/ and http://getfirebug.com/video/Intro2FB.mp4 ) or other similar tool.

Hi,

How is it possible to put the featured and new products in tabs on the home page?

infortis

Hello,

I’m not quite sure what tabs you mean, please clarify.

Default-user

can we have featured products in one tab, and new products in the other. we should then be able to toggle back and forth.

is this possible?

infortis

Yes, products sliders can be placed anywhere, but you would need to add some custom tabs with an extension, there are no tabs by default in Magento.

Hi there, GREAT template, thanks for this.

I have a problem with explorer 8. This is what you see when you load the page: http://i43.tinypic.com/s4pag2.jpg And in Firefox, Safari, Chroome looks like this: http://i43.tinypic.com/25pljeg.jpg

Can you help me with this problem?

Thanks

Hello,

It looks like problem with custom content (some map), so please make sure you inserted it properly (check if your HTML is valid etc.)

Default-user

I think i have inserted it properly, it’s the same HTML, it’s working in Firefox, Safari, chroome only not in Explorer

Hi!

How do I translate the “Only X left” from the product page?

Thanx in advance! :-)

Default-user

Isn´t it possible??

infortis

Hello,

Translation process is not related to the theme, this string must be somewhere in Magneto translation files in your app/locale/

This theme also introduces a few additional interface labels, all labels are located in app/design/frontend/<ThemeName>/default/locale/en_US/translate.csv. This file can be used to translate the interface into other languages. It can also be used to change one text to another text. For more details please refer to the user guide: 4.9.1 Interface translation

Hi,

In the main menu I have a Dropdown link (block_header_nav_dropdown). With title, 3 banners with text behind. As well as download block. I can see it perfectly. However, on mobile and also when I shrink the page, the menu accordion display but this link disappears.

Is that a way to change it. I have search on the documentation and google yet… Changed the depht.

Or where can I find the original html block code. (in the case I delete something wrong)

I need help

Thank you

infortis

1. To do that you would need to copy the HTML of the standard categories (with [+] icon) and use it to build your own elements in the menu. It’s all custom job, such elements are not available “out of the box”.

2. “Fashion” is a standard category, not a custom link. What you can see under categories ‘Fashion’ and ‘Electronics’ in our demos was created using blocks which can be added to each top-level and second-level category. Category blocks are described with details in 13.2 Custom Category Blocks

For example, the yellow banner under ‘Electronics’ is a content of the text field “Block Right” in Catalog > Category Management > ‘Electronics’. Please take a look at the screenshots in chapters 13.2.2 and 13.2.3, they show the layout of all custom blocks under top-level and second-level categories.

Thank you very much for your explanations !!

Finally, I try your above explanations, but In my case, I just need the custom link, “block_header_nav_dropdown”.

I just need to know if its possible to display it on mobile device and make it as a link on the menu accordion mobile.

OR with your explanations: In the dropdown menu display : have 3 yellows banners (like electronics) and a link below (in the demo : See category), and considered it as a category -> this way, I ‘ll see subcategory with + in the mobile menu. In the demo the link “see category” is not concidered as category. Also, trying it, the subcategory display in left.

Many thanks

infortis

It’s possible after customization, but not out of the box. Menu bar is created here: app/design/frontend/ultimo/default/template/infortis/ultramegamenu/mainmenu.phtml so you would need to insert that static block inside the mobile version of the menu which is between these tags:

<ul class="accordion vertnav vertnav-top grid-full"> ... </ul>

So the code that adds the static block to the main menu should be copied and added between <ul>...</ul> tags of the mobile menu. You would also need to add the ”+” icon to make it collapsible etc. I’m sorry but theme customization is beyond the scope of our support so i can’t assist you with these changes.

Regarding the mobile menu, only real categories are displayed there, so all the category blocks with custom content are hidden. We’re planning to change it and improve the menu in the future but for now it works like this to make it simple and mobile-friendly.

Had a couple questions in regards to the header area in the Ultimo theme:

1. Is it possible to make the area that the logo resides in on the header section larger? I have a rectangular logo and would like to have it fill up more of the space to the left of the search box. 2. Is it possible to move the search box further to the right? Ideally, I would like to have it as far right as possible. 3. Is it possible to move the “cart” to where the “compare” button is and remove the “compare” button completely?

Any help would be much appreciated. I had started to play around with this theme a few months ago but then got side tracked and just getting back to it. Unfortunately had to start from scratch from everything.

After going to Theme Settings in Ultimo, I was able to solve questions 2 and 3.

infortis

Hello,

Width of the logo is limited in CSS, otherwise it would overlap other elements. Please use Firebug in case you want to customize the CSS, search for this selector: .header .logo

Current maximum of logo for page width of 1024px is 220px, and for wider pages it’s 350px. So you can change those limits or remove them completely.

For example:

a) Open skin\frontend\ultimo\default\css\styles.css and change the width (220px) according to your needs in this line of code:

.header .logo { display:inline-block; max-width:220px; margin:0; text-decoration:none !important; }

After that flush Magento cache.

b) Additionally (if you are using Maximum Page Width of 1280 px or higher) you can also open app\design\frontend\base\default\template\infortis\ultimo\css\layout.phtml and change or remove lines of code which sets logo size limit for higer values of Maximum Page Width:

.header .logo { max-width:350px; }

After this step go to System > Configuration > Ultimo > Theme Layout and click “Save Config” button to re-build settings. Then, flush Magento cache.

Oops.. Accidentally deleted..

Couple Header questions that are giving me some design problems…

1. Is it possible to change the amount of size that I can use for my logo in the header? I would like to use more of the “white” space since my logo is more rectangular.

2. Is it possible to remove “Wishlist” from the “Account”, “Wishlist”, “Login”, “Cart” in Header?

3. Is it possible to change the type of font, size, color and boldness of the “Account”, “Wishlist”, “Login”, “Cart” text buttons independently from the rest of the site fonts?

Great theme! Been away from it from a while so finally getting back to designing my Magento/Ultimo e-commerce page. Look forward to the help.

There were many updates lately so make sure you’re using the latest version (you can always re-download it from your account).

1. Replied below your first comment.

2. Yes, with Ultimo you can easily disable them (in System > Configuration > Ultimo > Settings > Default Magento blocks) or even replace them with custom content. Please refer to the chapter 7.9 Default Magento blocks in the user guide for more details.

3. This can be done with custom CSS. Colors/design of dozens of elements can be changed through the admin panel, but of course not all. Small modifications, such as rounded corners, can be done with custom CSS. To do that you can enable additional CSS file custom.css, in which you can override the default styles of the theme. All the CSS styles placed in this file will not be lost after upgrading the theme in the future. More details about theme customization can be found in chapter Theme customization in the user guide.

Hi there,

Is there any way to move these buttons to that space easily as shown in this screenshot?—> http://goo.gl/56nyOr

I think there are more of them throughout the site.

Thanks

infortis

Hi,

Yes, you would need to customize the CSS. Change float:right to float:left:

.buttons-set button.button {
float:right;
...
}

To find out which part of CSS you need to extend or override you can use Firebug (add-on for Firefox: http://getfirebug.com/ and http://getfirebug.com/video/Intro2FB.mp4 ) or other similar tool.

Hi, lovely theme!

I did a GTmetrix report and it seems ‘Defer JavaScript Parsing’ is at only 40%, was this the maximum you were able to configure before losing Magento functionality? We are looking for a quick TTFB and had trouble making your fortis V1 theme on another project work ‘Defer JavaScript Parsing’, it also had a 3 second latency on load and perhaps that was a theme issue. Have you managed to fix these issues with this theme?

Thanks in advance for your help!

infortis

Hello,

1. We will work on this further in future updates. But please note that this result refers to all JS files, so mostly to Magento’s core JS (our theme only adds a few). We prefer not to move core JS as it could break many of third-party extensions which rely on it.

2. There’s already available completely rebuilt Fortis 2.

Hi, I’ve been using your product for quite a while now. Love it! I’m going to upgrade to Magento 1.8. Is the theme 100% compatible with v. 1.8? Just thought I should ask before I go ahead with the upgrade.

Many thanks.

infortis

Hello,

Yes, Ultimo v. 1.5.6 is fully compatible.

Kind regards

I see there are multiple questions about the 1.8 version. I also see that you updated the theme a few days ago. To be more specific, do you know if version 1.5.1 is Magento 1.8 ready?

infortis

Hello,

Ultimo v. 1.5.6 is fully compatible with Magento 1.8.0.0. So you need to upgrade the theme to that version. Make sure you follow all steps in the Update Guide.

I went in to edit block_header_top_help and saved it. I must have removed the section of code for the phone icon. I looked through new documentation, but could not find the code. Can you let me know what code I need here to get phone to reappear.

infortis

Hello,

In case you need the original content of some blocks, XML file with all static blocks can be found in the following directory: app\code\local\Infortis\<ThemeName>\etc\import\. You can also re-import all static blocks, please see chapter 7.10 Theme Installation in the user guide for details.

Please note that the static block block_header_top_help was removed in version 1.5.0, please check the Update Guide for more details if you’re using that (or newer) version.

Hi, we uploaded several product images and we’ve acitivated cloudzoom. Our problem is that the quality of the images, the thumbnails and the zoom overlay is really bad if the images have a white background. How can we solve this issue?

Regards, ms

infortis

Hello,

This issue is not related to the theme, image management is Magento’s functionality. Magento automatically compresses the image during the upload process in order to have thumbnail images and main images display quicker for your customers. Magento assumes that you prefer speed over image quality and reduces the size of your images.

You may want to check this short tutorial:

http://jasuten.com/background-noise-in-magento-image-resize/

but note that making changes in the core files is highly not recommended, you need to be sure what you are doing. :)
