Hello Sergio (Pixel Moxie) I just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful UMO theme – it was so easy to use and I adapted it to my needs. I love the simplicity of it! You have created a wonderful design and tool for us artists to use. The CRTL + F was brilliant way to help with customisation My site: http://yellowstonestudio.co.uk/ Cheers Steve :)

Hi Steve,

Wow, the site looks fantastic, thank to your artworks, of course! So glad to hear the theme helped you showcase your work—that was the goal, to create a useful tool for artists and creatives. Thanks again for the kind words, I’m a fan of your illustrations!

Cheers :)

Thank you Sergio, for your kind compliments. I searched what seemed like forever, until I came across your themes. May you have many many purchases to come. :) Steve

You’re welcome, I meant it :)

Thanks for the nice words, I really appreciate it. All the best on your endeavors!

Hey guys, this is such a great theme, thank you! Almost finished putting my site together and just had a couple of questions…

1 Is it possible to make any posts in the Portfolio ‘sticky’? Could I add any code to do this?

2 Is there a way to add social icons/links in the nav bar or home area – e.g can I place icons with links in the drop down nav menu?

3 Is it possible to make video/audio posts play directly in the Portfolio (with no expander)?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

PixelMoxie

Hi there!

Thanks for the kind words :)

1) Not really, but you can manually push posts to the top by changing the publication date. When you edit a post, click on the cog icon, and on “Post date”, type “now”. The date will be changed to the current date and time.

2) You can’t place icons on the nav menu or dropdown. But if you’re Ok with text, you could create a redirect page pointing to any social profile, and it will appear on the dropdown menu.

3) Sorry, the players are only available from within the expander.

Best,

Sergio

Yup! :) by the way is there any way to make the avatar team size bigger?

PixelMoxie

Sure, add the following to your Custom CSS (Advanced options > Add Custom CSS) and change the width and height as needed:

.widget-team .avatar {
    width: 220px;
    height: 220px;
}

Cheers!

Is there a way to center the contact infos?

PixelMoxie

Sure, add the following to your Custom CSS:

#contact .grid-cell {
    display: block;
    float: none;
    width: 100%;
    max-width: 700px;
    margin: 0 auto;
    text-align: center;
}

Let me know if that works!

Hey, love the layout! But only one thing I’ve been having trouble with, I can’t seem to change/add a home background image. I noticed you have mountains on the live preview 1 and I was wondering if I have to go into the code and change it manually or if there’s a theme option I’m completely looking past. Thanks!

Default-user

Actually I figured it out! Just had to read the theme document. But I had another question about the slideshow. Is there anyway I can add a looping .webm or some other kind of video format to the slideshow?

PixelMoxie

Hey there!

You can’t out of the box, but you could host your video files somewhere (Dropbox for example) and manually add the slide containing the video to the theme markup.

I recommend you use both .webm and .mp4 files for your video, and that the video is muted or has no sound. The code for the slide should look something like this:

<li>
    <video autoplay loop muted volume="0" poster="path/to/my/poster.jpg" id="video_slide_1">
        <source src="path/tp/my/video.webm" type="video/webm">
        <source src="path/tp/my/video.mp4" type="video/mp4">
    </video>
</li>

And the following Custom CSS would make the video fullscreen:

video#video_slide_1 {
    min-width: 100%;
    min-height: 100%;
}

You should manually insert the code for the slide inside the `bg-slideshow` element, around line 1180:

Hello! I am currently working through getting my website up and running with this theme and I am LOVING it. It’s looking amazing so far. For some reason I cannot get the social media icons to show up in the boxes on the bottom of the page. I have them enabled and have tried all three sizes but the boxes remain blank. Can you offer any help? :)

PixelMoxie

Hey there! Thanks for your purchase, glad to hear you’re happy with the theme!

Make sure “Show Social Icons” is enabled, and that you have entered the URL for the relevant services (URL Bandcamp, URL Behance, etc.). Don’t forget the ‘http://' portion at the beginning.

If they still don’t show up, please send me a link to your site so I can take a look.

Cheers!

Default-user

Still not working and I all of that enabled! http://mitchwilson.co

I took some screenshots but I’m unsure how to post here :D

PixelMoxie

Weird, they look fine on my end.

Please email me using the form on my profile page. You can upload the screenshots to https://imgur.com/ and paste the links. Please state your browser and operating system. I’ll get back to you tomorrow.

Cheers!

Hi, is it possible to click on a photo post and be taken to a new page where there is the photo and text? I’d like to do a write-up on the photo like a text blog post, but have it display on the homepage as just the photo (like a photo blog post). Apologies if I sound like a novice, because I am. This is the first theme I’ve ever purchased.

PixelMoxie

Hey there,

Thanks for your purchase!

If you disable the option “Enable Ajax Expander”, posts won’t be loaded with Ajax and will open on their own page. You can make them open in a new tab if you prefer (“Open Projects In New Tab”). This options will affect all posts, is not possible to just open some of them that way.

The theme doesn’t support text posts, but you can type your write-up on the post caption. The layout on the permalink page will be similar to the one used on the expander.

Cheers!

hi sir.. is it able to make a animated gif to slide image on home??

PixelMoxie

Hi there,

It is possible to upload an animated GIF as one of the slides for the homepage slider. Beware of performance though, such a large animated GIF may be too CPU intensive in older machines. I guess it will depend on the FPS of your image.

Cheers!

I’m trying to showcase some companies I’ve partnered with in the portfolio section. I’d like to click on the thumb and be taken directly to their website. Is there anyways to do this with your template rather than being taken to the photo’s details (I assume I’d have to turn off the Ajax expander)?

Thanks in advance!

PixelMoxie

That’s a tough one. Even if you disable the Ajax expander, the thumbnail will still point to the post permalink. I’m not aware of any way to make a post point to an external site.

You could “fake” it by manually entering the code for the thumbnails before the real posts begin, but your dummy thumbs will need to be the first thing on the grid. The code should be inserted right before the {block:Posts} tag on line 1517. See where the cursor is located in this image:

http://i.imgur.com/8YhIzok.png

You could use the markup on this pastebin (the RAW Paste Data) for the thumbs, adding as many as you need, replacing the external URL, title, and image path with the real ones (you’ll have to host your thumbnail images somewhere):

http://pastebin.com/xFfELiyw

This will only work as long as the Ajax expander is disabled.

I hope that helps somewhat!

Thanks for the suggestions!

PixelMoxie

No problem! Let me know how that works for you.

Im about to purchase this theme, but just noticed the bottom line

“©2013–2014 Umo Theme – Folio Edition – All rights reserved Umo Theme by Pixel Moxie. Powered by Tumblr”

will there be a way to take this out? thanks!

PixelMoxie

Thanks for your purchase!

As the background images will be the same in any device (phones, tablets, desktops) the images shouldn’t be too small, but not huge either. I use images ranging from 1440 to 1920 pixels wide for the backgrounds, that seems to work well for me. If you want to swap the bg images on small devices for whatever reason, you can do so with Custom CSS and media queries.

I haven’t tried it myself, but animated GIFs should display fine.

Cheers!

thx! awesome customer support!

i messaged you some more questions :)
PixelMoxie

You’re welcome! I replied to your email, let me know if that works.

I didn’t change the mobile options until creating my whole website. I would really like to enable the theme on mobile without having to start all over again. Is there a way to do this as when I flicked the option nothing happened.

Thank you, Great Theme, Anissa

Default-user

fixed it

PixelMoxie

For the custom theme to appear in phones, “Use default mobile theme” should be off. Is that what you mean? Toggling that option should have no effect on the rest of the customization options. Cheers!

This is the only theme I have ever bought and it was well worth it, great stuff.

I have two questions.

1. I seem to be able to go into the code and reposition most elements fairly easy (for instance, put the Homepage Hero above the Slider.) But I cannot for the life of me find the code for the Featured Posts to rearrange that. Is there a way I could put that at the top, above the slider?

2. Does the Featured Posts section have the ability to automatically move between the different featured posts like the Slider does? Like when an image carousel is on auto?

Thanks so much!

-Jesse

PixelMoxie

Just to avoid any confusion, the theme in question is actually Bloq and the answers are not relevant to UMO Folio :)

1) Featured Posts are fetched via Tumblr’s API with JavaScript and the whole block is inserted after the fact, so there’s no actual code for them on the theme. I think altering the code to reposition them would be quite cumbersome. It would be better to add an HTML placeholder that can be repositioned and then inject the posts into that element.

2) Not at the moment, but it would be easy to add an option “Featured Posts Timeout” to set the interval between posts, just like the slider.

So yes, I’ll add these things on a small update and let you know once it’s available.

Cheers,

Sergio

Hello, has this theme a blog? or nay kind of update text layout? Is possible to add Disqus? and also Addthis? On the footer can I add my custom contact layout instead use the one of Tumblr? Thanks, Dom

PixelMoxie

Hi Dom,

This theme does not function as a blog. As stated on item description, it only works with Photo, Audio and Video posts, which all go to the portfolio section. Quote posts are used to populate the testimonials section. I recommend to set up a secondary blog with a different theme, as a proper blog, and link to it from the main site. Pages created on the customizer are supported though, such as this one http://pixelmoxie-umo-folio.tumblr.com/about

Disqus is supported for the portfolio items. Just open a portfolio preview and click on the “Comments and Notes” button to see it.

Addthis support is not included, you would have to integrate it yourself.

The Contact layout is just the one shown on the demo. Of course you can edit the theme to add stuff to it or use custom CSS to alter the layout slightly; just remember theme customization is not included when you purchase a license.

Best,

Sergio
