Hey there – any idea why my Twitter feed would be displaying:
Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in …
multiple times?
Can you email me a link? I’m traveling this week, but can take a look on Monday.
Hello, great theme. I am having an issue with the portfolio featured images. They are not cropping to fill the entire “square” of space in the portfolio item list. They end up just scaling down the exact size they are, which creates blank space. I notice on the demo site that your portfolio tiles are perfectly sized, and yet your portfolio items are all different sizes. Am I doing something wroong? Thanks
Hi there, In the demo I am using very large images for the portfolio items. They need to be at least larger than the largest thumbnail size… If that makes sense. If the images your uploading are smaller than the thumbnail size it won’t stretch them to fit the full square.
Hello, thanks for the response. I have been using large images and selecting full size when I set the featured image. They all expand to the large size when the lightbox thumbnail is clicked. All my images are way larger than the thumbnail. Any suggestions?
I took a look and you had some media settings in your admin that was forcing thumbnail size. I removed those and regenerated your thumbnails.
Looks like you are all set.
Thank you so much for your help! You are awesome!
Hi there, nice theme. I am using it in one project and it worked great.
I just need help with the lightbox, everybody says that the button “resize” is confusing and my client want to disable it with the thumbnails. I already commented it in the page code, but it’s still there.
Thanks for your help and the amazing work.
I’m not 100% sure… But I think you are referring to the expand button in the top right corner that sometimes appears in the light box… correct?
If so, set div.pp_default .pp_expand to display:none in the prettyphoto.css file.
Hey Nathan, just purchased your theme, love it – appreciate your hard work, thank you! Quick question, I’ve uploaded it to wordpress, however I forgot the xml file with your example posts. As a result I’m missing and not sure how to get some options up that are shown in the 2nd tutorial video on your vimeo…like with the menu’s and pages. Any idea how I can get these options up? Many thanks
Hi there, Glad you like the theme!
You can always import the XML file at anytime via the Tools menu / Import in the WP admin.
ah…thank you! all good
Hey,
I cant t seem to find “Custom Options” in the admin area. I’m running the latest wordpress version.
If its not in the sidebar… Try deactivating any plugins you have running and refresh the admin to see if it appears.
Hi,
I really want to purchase this them but I need to know if I can place self hosted audio (mp3) and/or soundcloud audio on my pages, my blog pages and the home page slider.
The site is a music site so I need to be able to easily host/play music in several locations.
Hi there… The theme doesn’t include a built in audio player, but it would certainly work with any audio player plugins.
Cool, and is it easy enough to place an audio player plugin to be seen in the above described positions? I need to know before I buy.
It should be fine… A lot of audio player plugins use short codes which will work in those locations. You may have to modify the slider a bit since there is not a lot of room within the circle area for content.
Hi there,
Love your theme. I’m looking into purchasing, but would prefer a lighter design. Is it fairly easy within the admin to change out the background and colors to lighten?
Thanks! Carissa
Hi Carissa, You can change the background texture to something lighter fairly easily, but the entire theme is built around a dark color scheme, so it would involve editing some CSS to completely change everything.
A better option may be the WordPress version of Piccolo (releasing in a few days). It’s a similar style as Un Altro but based around a much lighter color scheme.
Here is the HTML version: http://themeforest.net/item/piccolo-modern-responsive-html-template/3066880
Hi, There are two challenges I’m facing with this theme, perhaps you can help me resolve them :
1. The Sliders – I can make a new slider by clicking the “+new- slider” on the top admin bar, although once the slider is created I can’t edit it, since the Sliders button doesn’t appear on the left admin side panel. Why is this? I am using WordPress 3.4.2.
2. Portfolio Pages – When I click through to a portfolio page, it appears “404 Error – We couldn’t find that page”. This is detrimental to the theme’s functioning. Do you know why this is happening?
These two errors along make things very difficult to work with this theme, can you please help me resolve this since I just bought the theme.
Thanks Phong
Hi there, 1. Try deactivating your plugins then refreshing the admin panel. The Sliders admin area should appear.
2. This is a permalink issue. Try editing the permalink for your portfolio page. Save it and refresh your site. See if the error is resolved.
Let me know if you need further help.
OK thanks, I found out that it was Jetpack plugin when activated and ‘connected’ that caused the Slider menu to not appear in the admin bar.
Also, I adjusted the permalink structure and it works ok now, thank you very much.
Quick question, my portfolio items seem to only filter by category for the items displayed on each page of portfolio items. As in, the portfolio items are pagenated, and when you filter by category, it only filters the items displayed on that page. Is there any way to click on a category and have it include all items from that category that are in all of the pages of porfolio items? I suppose getting rid of pagenation is one option…. ?
There’s a couple of things you can do…
1. Like you mentioned, get rid of pagination (if you don’t have many items) 2. Sort your projects by date, so that all of a certain category are featured on certain pages.
The theme I’m working on currently (Piccolo) features a fix for this issue. After the new theme is released, I’ll be coming back and adding that update to Un Altro.
Hey there,
Thanks very much for this awesome theme! However, recently the portfolio has started acting up in which both the transitions and the category filter are not working properly and I was wondering if you can look into it.
Here’s the link to the site: http://astraywonder.com/pinwheel/Many thanks!
Sorry my bad, I realized this issue has already been sounded out by varissaraptor. Looking forward to the next update!
Yep… Next update is coming soon!
How do I set the e-mail address for the contact form? I do not want it to e-mail the site admin but another email account… (I imagine you get this a lot) UPDATE : I just added mail(‘test@example.com’, $subject, $body, $headers); within the contact template and that worked
That will do it… Glad you got it figured out!
Hi, There seems to be something a bit weird happening with the slider, after it has scrolled through all 5 slides and gone back to the first, it shows the second, then the first again, then second again before going on to scroll through the rest. It then repeats this order (1 ,2 ,3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5…) any idea why this might be happening? Many thanks!
Can you email me a link so I can take a look?
just sent you a link.. I think it does it on the example site too though?
Just emailed you back with a fix.
Hi Nathan, first and foremost – I LOVE this theme. great job! Second.. I’ve got 2 things that can’t figure out. a) How do I go about getting rid of this little vertical line to the right of the logo? I’ve tired to see if it’s an extra “stick” in the header.php but alas, didn’t find it :-/ b) How can I make a video work with the lightbox that came with the theme? I’ve simply uploaded it with the rest of images to one of my posts but it doesn’t show up when view the site.
http://paulbaidatsky.com/Thanks
Hi there… Glad you like the theme. For the stick in the header… take a look at layout.css for the class name “subtitle”. The easiest way to post videos is to upload them to your vimeo or youtube account then use the fields in the right sidebar on the “add new” portfolio item page to enter the video details.
Awesome theme, thank you!
I just purchased this for a portfolio site that I’m working on, and I was dismayed to find that the image on the portfolio details pages are all static at 940×550.
This is troubling since a great deal of the portfolio images being used on the site are portrait dimensions, not landscape – so they are taller than they are wide, resulting in cropping of the images.
Is there a way to have this dynamically resize to fit the images? If not, would this be a possible feature for future updates?
Thanks again!
Sure, Just change the size of the full image which is set as…
add_image_size(‘full-thumb’, 940, 550, true); // Portfolio Full View
in functions.php… You can set it to whatever size you like, then regenerate your thumbnails.
Cool, thanks!
I’m relatively new to coding. Will this cause the image container displayed on the portfolio item to resize automatically to fit the uploaded image?
Or will this just allow me to change the size of that container to specific dimensions?
Thanks again!
This will crop and save a copy of any image uploaded to the post. If you change these numbers you’re essentially changing the size of “full-thumb” which is the image used for the portfolio details page.
Hi Nathan, when inserting images into my blog posts the slider works well with the inserted images. But now I have added a second blog post with additional images and it looks like the images from the first blog post are coming through into the gallery of the second? Is there any way to stop this?
Hey there… Can you email me a link so I can see what is happening with the sliders? Thanks!
here is the link, ive noticed that the two sliders will slide at the same time too… 1st and 3rd blog post. Cheers
I’ll have a fix for this in the next couple of days.
I also wish to remove the project descriptions from the portfolio items, i just want the images. I see there was an option which turned it off in the gallery page but not the 4 item portfolio which I am using. Any idea of a solution?
Ignore my question about the portfolio descriptions, i found it in the code. I now was wondering if/how to sort my portfolio items rather than just be ordered in the order I added them?
You can reorder your portfolio items by changing the published date and time of the post.
Where abouts can I do that?
Never mind I solved the problem with the order!
