Hi I was sort of expecting the XML file to be included, i see another person asked you about this a while ago, did you ever get round to making it useable? It would save me hours…

Cheers

Great Theme!

Hi Richimie,

apologies for taking a bit longer to get back to you. Yes, the XML import file for Vendor is still on my list and I will see if I can export and prepare this for you by tomorrow.

Kind regards

Olaf

Olaf,

I am testing my installation and indeed your demo site here: http://www.awesem.com/vendor/ in IE8 and it really seems to go very very slow. Works fine in all other non ie browsers but there seems to be an issue.

Have you encountered this before? I am testing this at work right now. Wouldn’t have thought its a firewall issue since it works brilliantly in other browsers. As I say both my installation and your demo seem to struggle.

Any ideas? I’m just about to launch a vendor based site but am reluctant at the moment since IE8 will form a significant part of our potential customer base.

Hi John,

I’ve looked into this and I managed to replicate the problem in IE.

I’ve updated the Fancybox jQuery library from v1.3.1 to v1.3.4 on our demo site which appears to have sped up the page load significantly:

http://fancybox.net/

It would be great if you could test this on your website and hopefully this will also fix the problem at your end.

Simply rename your fancybox folder in _assets to e.g. fancybox_1.3.1 and then upload the latest fancybox version into a new fancybox folder. Then you need to update the fancybox references to the .css and .js files in header.php and functions.php respectively so that they use the latest version.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Thanks

Olaf

Just wanted to say a big thanks to the support team. Both Olaf and Ralph have spent considerbale time making sure this IE8 problem is fixed. The theme and their customer service is second to none. If you are on the fence about buying this theme then jump off and buy it today. Seriously awesome guys, thanks!!!

Today, we launched our new Theme Support Forum. ThemeForest’s comment functionality has served us well in the past but the increased number of support requests and longer conversations will work much better within a forum environment.

Our BB Press forum is based on our Vendor WordPress theme so it should all look familiar. It is searchable and you can look at previous questions & answers which might provide the answer straightaway.

You simply need your Item Purchase Code from ThemeForest to gain access.

How to find your ThemeForest Purchase Code?

We look forward welcoming you in the Forum.

Kind regards

Olaf

P.S. ...of course you can continue to email us using the Email form on our ThemeForest profile page: http://themeforest.net/user/awesem

Olaf,

I tried to put my invoice no. and order no. when registering to your support forum, but it still doesn’t approve it.

BTW , I have issue with vendor now. My portfolio cannot display the modal page (light box) when clicking the portfolio at gallery page.

Pls check bikairdotcom/testimonial to see it.

It’s video testimonial and it should be displayed like in the homepage. And else, it’s a video, but it seems the theme cannot recognize that it’s a video.

pls let me know

thx

awesem

Hi N3ll,

thank you for your query.

In order to register for our Support Forum you need to enter your Item Purchase Code which you can find on your Download screen:

http://www.awesemthemes.com/purchase-key

I’ve also had a look at your problem with the video modal box and I’ve responded to your question in the forum:

http://support.awesem.com/topic/portfolio-modal-page-dont-displayed-correctly

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Kind regards

Olaf

For support queries, please use our new support forum at http://support.awesem.com/ which helps us to streamline our support and provide quicker responses.

The forum is searchable and you can view previous questions and answers to help solve your problem. We will also be building a FAQ and knowledge base over time to further help you find the answers you need.

If you want to leave a comment and feedback about Vendor then this is still the place of course :)

Cheers

Olaf

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but how do I link the images in the homepage slideshow to specific pages?

awesem

Hi Impastoart,

thanks for your query regarding the slider images in our Vendor theme.

By default, the slider image cannot be linked. You can however add this functionality by using a “custom write panel” to the slider screen.

To achieve this you need to add the following code to functions.php just before // Check for taxonomies :

// Meta boxes
add_action('admin_init','create_slide_meta_boxes');
function create_slide_meta_boxes() {
      add_meta_box('url_meta','Slide URL','url_meta','slide');
}

function url_meta() {
      global $post;
      $custom = get_post_custom($post->ID);
      $url_meta = $custom['url_meta'][0]; ?>
      <label for="manufacturer">&lt;?php _e('Full URL (including http://):', 'framework') ?&gt;</label>
      <input name="url_meta" value="&lt;?php echo $url_meta; ?&gt;" type="text" style="width:70%;" />
&lt;?php }

add_action('save_post', 'save_slide');
function save_slide($postID){
    global $post;
    // Avoid autosave
    if(defined('DOING_AUTOSAVE') && DOING_AUTOSAVE)
        return $postID;
    update_post_meta($post?&gt;ID, 'url_meta', $_POST['url_meta']);
}

This code adds a URL input field on the edit slide screen so that you can enter a URL for each slide.

Finally you need use this URL and wrap it around the thumbnail image on the homepage. Open header.php and replace the “slider” div with the code below including the first line of PHP code which grabs the URL value:

&lt;?php $url_meta = get_post_meta(get_the_ID(),'url_meta'); ?&gt;
<div class="slide">
    &lt;?php if($tz_img_position == "left") { ?&gt;

        &lt;?php if($url_meta[0] != ''): ?&gt;<a href="&lt;?php echo $url_meta[0]; ?&gt;">&lt;?php endif; ?&gt;
        &lt;?php the_post_thumbnail('full', array('class' ?&gt; 'alignleft')) ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($url_meta[0] != ''): ?&gt;</a>&lt;?php endif; ?&gt;
        &lt;?php the_content(); ?&gt;
    &lt;?php } ?&gt;

    &lt;?php if($tz_img_position == "right") { ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($url_meta[0] != ''): ?&gt;<a href="&lt;?php echo $url_meta[0]; ?&gt;">&lt;?php endif; ?&gt;
        &lt;?php the_post_thumbnail('full', array('class' ?&gt; 'alignright')) ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($url_meta[0] != ''): ?&gt;</a>&lt;?php endif; ?&gt;
        &lt;?php the_content(); ?&gt;
    &lt;?php } ?&gt;

    &lt;?php if($tz_img_position == "alternate left-right") { ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($url_meta[0] != ''): ?&gt;<a href="&lt;?php echo $url_meta[0]; ?&gt;">&lt;?php endif; ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($position%2 != 0) echo the_post_thumbnail('full', array('class' ?&gt; 'alignleft')); ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($position%2 == 0) echo the_post_thumbnail('full', array('class' ?&gt; 'alignright')); ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($url_meta[0] != ''): ?&gt;</a>&lt;?php endif; ?&gt;
        &lt;?php the_content(); ?&gt;
    &lt;?php } ?&gt;

    &lt;?php if($tz_img_position == "alternate right-left") { ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($url_meta[0] != ''): ?&gt;<a href="&lt;?php echo $url_meta[0]; ?&gt;">&lt;?php endif; ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($position%2 != 0) echo the_post_thumbnail('full', array('class' ?&gt; 'alignright')); ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($position%2 == 0) echo the_post_thumbnail('full', array('class' ?&gt; 'alignleft')); ?&gt;
        &lt;?php if($url_meta[0] != ''): ?&gt;</a>&lt;?php endif; ?&gt;
        &lt;?php the_content(); ?&gt;
    &lt;?php } ?&gt;
</div>

(unfortunately all greater and less than signs got converted to their html entity and you need to do a find and replace to get proper PHP tags)

Please let us know how you get on with this.

Cheers

Olaf

P.S. You can also visit our support forum at http://support.awesem.com

is there any way to slow down the slides on the homepage? thanks for your help!

awesem

Hi jmonteith,

you can slow down the slides under Appearance > Theme options > Homepage Settings > Slides Settings > Autoplay

Simply set the number of milliseconds, e.g. for a 10 seconds pause enter 10000.

For more help with our Vendor theme you can also visit our theme support forum at http://support.awesem.com/

Hi there,

Is the XML file available now please it would really help, really love your theme, just don’t have the know how to make it look this elegant.

Thanks

RF

awesem

Hi RF,

thank you for your query regarding the XML file. This has been on our list for a while and we’ve not got around to it yet unfortunately.

We will make this a priority now and provide you with the XML file asap.

Kind regards

Olaf

I had the same question as another post – the homepage slider only lets me show the 1st 5 slides of 7 slides that appear in the admin. Did you find out the issue from the last person who had this problem? Thanks!

awesem

Hi Jmonteith,

thanks for your query. The reason for this problem is that we use query_posts instead of WP_Query. The former uses the number of posts set in:

Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most

If you increase this to e.g. 10 then all your slides should show.

I will add this to my list so that we amend this in the next release so that you won’t have to change the reading setting above.

Kind regards

Olaf

Perfecto! – that worked. Thanks for the tip!!

Hate to bug but I had 1 more question. I saw an earlier post discussing homepage slider transition effects – my client wants a cross fade (or just a fade) and I saw that you were going to release a next version with this functionality. Has that been released? We have version 1.0.6. I don’t see any admin controls and I can’t figure out how to set the scrollLeft to a Fade or crossFade effect in the .js. Any way to do this yet? Thanks!

awesem

Hi Jmonteith,

thanks for your query regarding the slider. We’ve added this functionality in v1.0.7 which we released earlier this week (19.12.11) and you can now choose the supported effects within the theme options.

It should also be fairly easy to add this effect yourself:

1. Open scripts.js 2. Find HOMEPAGE SLIDER section 3. Add effect: “fade”, as shown below:

<script type="text/javascript">
            $(document).ready(function(){
                $('#featured').slides({
                    container: 'slides_container',
                    autoHeight: true,
                    play: 5000,
                    effect: "fade",
                    paginationClass: 'pagination',
                    generatePagination: false,
                });
            });

        </script>

Please let me know if you experience any problems with this.

I have a site with a Wordpress installation for one page. I’d like to gradually convert the rest of the site over to Wordpress (same URL bu it’s on Concrete5 right now) but use your theme for those pages. Is there something I could put into the code that would let me choose your theme for the other pages so I can have the whole site using one dashboard?

I’ve tried downloading theme switch pugins from Wrodpress to no avail.

awesem

Hi Sally,

thank you for your query and using our Vendor theme for your site.

Unfortunately I have no experience with the Concrete5 CMS but it sounds like you are already using WordPress for the homepage and Concrete5 for the rest.

Have you tried creating a page that was in Concrete5 within WordPress using the same URL ? If this works (I think it depends on how your htaccess file is configured) you could then copy over your pages one by one (or build a script if you have too many pages).

I am not sure if there is something you can use so that your Concrete5 content appears within the WordPress dashboard if that’s what you meant. I did a quick Google-search but nothing obvious came up.

Please let me know how you get on with migrating your pages over to WordPress.

Kind regards

Olaf

I had to download a second install of Wordpress and add your theme to that one. What I wanted was to be able to activate two themes on one install.

I’ve posted some questions to your forum but no one is answering so I’m back here.

I found out how to get the order of the pages fixed, but now I can’t figure out how to get content into the homepage, which is static. I found the highlight paragraph and button, but there doesn’t seem to be an option to put widgets into the page content.

http://inksnatcher.com/main

I’d like to have 3 boxes of info w/photos accross the page.

Also, is it possible to have different portfolio pages? I’d like to have one page for projects and one for my team members.

awesem

Hi Sally,

thanks for your query and apologies that we haven’t got back to you in our forum yet.

Regarding the content on the homepage, you can use a number of widgets and we used the following widets on our Demo Site. But first you need to ensure that you have

Homepage Top

Homepage Double Widget

Title #1: Packed with options galore. Icon #1: http://www.awesem.com/wp-content/themes/vendor/_assets/img/icon-gears.png Content #1: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Cras interdum ultricies ipsum, ac interdum orci ultricies sodales.

Title #2: Built with localisation in mind. Icon #2: http://www.awesem.com/wp-content/themes/vendor/_assets/img/icon-mic.png Content #2: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Cras interdum ultricies ipsum, ac interdum orci ultricies sodales.

Homepage Bottom

Homepage Testimonial Widget Homepage Screenshots Widget Homepage Screencast Widget

In order to achieve the three coloumns you mentioned, you could either use simple text widgets or our double text widget.

In regards to having multiple portfolios, our theme only support one type of portfolio by default. You could consider customising your theme and making small changes to the underlying PHP code so that it meets your requiremens.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Kind regards

Olaf

Thank you. My homepage looks beautiful! http://inksnatcher.com/main

My other questions were these:

1. Why is the portfolio page not spacing the squares properly?

2. Can I make another page using the portfolio template (called team) and have totally different content?

awesem

Hi Sally,

that’s great that you managed to nicely layout your homepage.

Regarding the spacing on your portfolio page, one thing you could try is to set a minimum height in custom.css:

.portfolio ul li p { min-height: 80px!important; }

Please play round with the height parameter until it suits your needs.

Creating another portfolio page is possible but it is not straightforward and would require a number of code changes. You would have to create a copy of the portfolio template, rename it in the file header, create another custom post type called “team” within funtions.php and finally you would have to tweak the WP query in your new team portfolio page so that it pulls in the team posts instead of the portfolio posts.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Kind regards

Olaf

I put this in place and it changed nothing on the page & I tried sizes larger and smaller.

Once the change was made I did a view source on the page and found that there was no reference to the custom.css—does this mean it is not inheriting the values from custom.css ?

awesem

Hi Sally,

the custom.css file gets included via style.css:

http://www.awesem.com/vendor/wp-content/themes/vendor/style.css

You need to use the !important command in order to overwrite a previously defined CSS rule.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Kind regards

Olaf

On the portfolio note, I copied and pasted the double widget HTML into my team page and it turned out nicely, saving me the trouble of creating a new template. http://inksnatcher.com/main/team

The only thing left to fix is the portfolio spacing. Surely it’s not just happening on my computer….

awesem

Hi Sally,

that’s great that you found a nice workaround for your team page.

In regards to your portfolio spacing, I think the custom css rules don’t get applied due to the enclosing pre tag:

http://www.inksnatcher.com/main/wp-content/themes/vendor-premium-wordpress-business-portfolio-theme_v1_0_7/vendor/_assets/css/custom.css

Simply delete the enclosing pre tags and the rule should then get applied.

Please let me know if you are experiencing any problems with this.

Kind regards

Olaf

Still no joy.

I’ve changed it from 50px to 6000px and it makes no difference. Can I email you a login so you can try to fix it? Surely this is not only happening on my page.

awesem

Hi Sally, that’s great that you managed to resolve the problem.

Kind regards

Olaf

Delete that last comment—it fixed it perfectly. Woohoo! :D

awesem

Hi Sally, that’s great that you managed to resolve the problem.

Kind regards

Olaf

The slides worked well both in IE and in Chrome, but now that I’ve moved the WP to my root directory, the slides won’t work in IE.

Also, while everything in perfectly sized in Chrome, it’s all bigger in IE. I think I have IE8 .

http://inksnatcher.com
awesem

Hi Sally,

I hope you are well. Did you manage to resolve the issues in IE? I’ve had a look at your site in IE8 and IE9 and the slider appeared to have the same size as in Chrome.

Please let me know if you are still experiencing problems with this.

Thanks

Olaf

The sizes are okay now, but I still can’t get the slides to work in IE. All I see is one long page of static slides above the content. Any suggestions?

awesem

Hi Sally,

I’ve had another look in all versions of IE and I noticed that the slider was actually giving a JS error in IE7 and therefore it was was just showing static images.

You can easily fix this by editing header.php and removing the comma in the following line:

generatePagination: false,

change this to:

generatePagination: false

This should stop the error and the slider should start to work again.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Kind regards

Olaf
