Long time no theme! Looking great!
For some reason the preview doesn’t work correctly though
Hi Tcremer,
Cheers very much for being the very first person to comment on our new Vendor theme
Yes, it has indeed been a long time since our last theme and we are pleased to hear that you like it. Over the coming months we will be working on further updates to our themes and the next new theme is also in the pipeline
We’ve not noticed any problems with the preview and it would be great if you could send us some more details on the problem you were experiencing so that we can look into it.
Thanks again,
Olaf
looks very pretty theme good work
Hi Charmthemes,
thanks for your feedback and we’re are very happy to hear that you like our new Vendor theme. Please let us know if you have any queries about it.
Cheers
Olaf
Really great work with this one! I really like the default colors and the filtered gallery is always a niche touch.
Hi WPExplorer,
thanks for your feedback. We are very pleased that you like our Vendor theme, the colours available and the portfolio filters. We are in the process of adding one more colour as we speak
Cheers
Olaf
Awesome theme! Perhaps it could use some shortcodes???
Hi Scott,
thanks for your feedback and we’re pleased to hear that you like our latest theme.
The theme includes a good set of theme options, widgets and is well documented. You are right about the short codes though. Currently, there is a short code for easily adding buttons in any of the available colours which is used as follows:
[button color=orange url=http://www.awesem.com]Take a Tour[/button]We are already working on an update of the theme adding another colour and we would like to look at adding further short codes as well. Please let me know if there are any short codes you would like to see in particular and I will see if we can get them added.
Cheers
Olaf
Hi, with Chrome the 3th submenu don’t work. Is impossible to click into him because dissapear.
Hi Olviliz,
thanks for your feedback and pointing out the problem with the 3rd level navigation in Chrome. We’ve reworked this slightly so that it now works in Chrome. We’ve uploaded this to our demo site and we will be making an update file available shortly (this will also include more short codes and another colour).
Please let us know what you think or if you notice any other problems with our new theme.
Cheers
Olaf
Slider issues: So i can’t get the slider to work on the homepage. When I setup the new slide within the WordPress admin and click preview, I get a 404 Not Found Error. And then when I click update, I get the grey nav bar along the bottom with a single button. Thoughts?
Hi Broussardcj,
thank you for being one of the first to purchase our new Vendor theme and apologies for any teething problems.
The slider uses custom posts and the individual slides are not intended to be previewed via the Preview button in the admin area. I will have a look to see if it’s possible to hide the button so that this doesn’t cause further confusion.
Simply click “Add new Slide”, enter a title (only used internally), add your HTML content and set a featured image, click publish and then it will automatically appear on the homepage.
Please let me know if you experience any other problems wiith the theme and we will work hard to resolve them asap.
Thanks
Olaf
Your portfolio buttons look odd in firefox 3.6.16 on a Mac. just so you know.
Hi nextwebexpress,
we are going to look at resolving this straight away.
Thanks for letting us know.
Cheers
Olaf
Hi Nextwebexpress,
we’ve resolve the issue with the buttons on the portfolio page. This was due to changes on the demo site where we were testing the new short codes that we just added.
Please note that the current release and download file were not affected by this.
Thanks again
Olaf
An addendum to my comment above: I should have said when I post the page, I get the grey nav bar with a single button, but no image or text. You can actually see what I am talking about on the site: www.thethematicinvestor.com
Hi Broussardcj,
thanks for sending over more details on this. The problem occurs when you only have one slide. Now that you added a second slide the problem fixed itself. We will try and resolve this problem so that it will also work with just one slide.
The two images you inserted also get displayed in their original size and they are quite large. The images on the demo site for example are 595×441.
Please let know if you experience any other problems.
Thanks
Olaf
Thanks for the quick reply Olaf. Unfortunately, that is exactly what I am doing, and nothing is appearing in the slider: www.thethematicinvestor.com
You can see, neither the photo, nor the text is appearing.
So as it turn out, if you only create one slider item, it doesn’t work. As soon as I created the second, it started appearing and functioning.
Next issue to figure out is the nav order
Hi Broussardcj,
that’s great that you got the slider to work. We are putting something in place at the moment so that it will also work with just one slide.
In regards to the navigation, the theme uses WP 3 + custom menus and you should be able to change the order by drag & drop in the menu editor. Have look at this article for more information on this:
http://thinkvitamin.com/code/getting-started-with-wordpress-custom-menus/
Please let me know if you experience any other problems.
Thanks

Is it possible to display a static page as the homepage, rather than what appears to be columns, possibly shortcodes? I note that the custom templates appear to be portfolio-based for the most part, but I am not sure how this theme will handle strictly text pages.
Hi TastyPlacement,
thanks for your query and interest in our new Vendor portfolio / business theme.
You can choose any page / post or a latest posts list for your homepage which you can configure in Settings > Reading Settings > Front page displays
This would replace the current homepage which has its own template. The slider is based on custom posts and the content underneath is widgetised which you can control and configure via the Widget Editor.
The theme comes with a number of templates and a normal (default) page would look like this where you have a right hand sidebar which is widgetised:
http://www.awesem.com/vendor/about-us/
There is also a full-width template with no sidebar:
http://www.awesem.com/vendor/full-width/
Please let me know if you have any further queries on this.
Thanks
Olaf
Hi Olaf,
Great theme. A quick query – is it possible to reproduce the home page template in other pages? Say I want a new page ‘OUR EXPERTISE ’ which I want it to look like the home page, complete with the slider.
Also, how easy is it to reduce the HEIGHT of the home page slider image. I believe it is currently 595×441. Say if i reduce the height to 595×300 will the background change accordingly?
Thanks in advance.
Tusing
Hi Tusing,
thanks for your query and interest in our Vendor theme.
Unfortunately, you can easily reproduce the homepage (for the moment…). This would require knowledge of PHP and CSS and you would have to make a number of modifications.
In regards to the height of the homepage, it depends on the height of its content so you can easily adjust the height to meet your requirements.
Please let me know if you have further questions on this.
Thanks
Olaf
Hi Olaf,
Great site!
I noticed there seems to be a formatting text issue on the homepage double widget. When entering text it does not align itself in the column.
Similar to the text on your demo site where it says custom widgets and templates by the pie chart icon.
any suggestions?
Hi Rhahn,
thanks for your query. Here is what you could try and do. Make sure you take a backup before making any changes
1) Open “widget-double.php” (located in vendor/_functions/)
2) Replace:if ( $icon1 ) { ?><img class="icon" src="<?php echo $icon1; ?>" alt="" /> <?php } ?> <h4><?php if ( $title1 ) echo $title1; ?></h4> <?php echo $content1; ?> <?php if ( $icon2 ) { ?><img class="icon" src="<?php echo $icon2; ?>" alt="" /> <?php } ?> <h4><?php if ( $title2 ) echo $title2; ?></h4> <?php echo $content2; ?>(line 63 to 70) with:if ( $icon1 ) { ?><img class="icon" src="<?php echo $icon1; ?>" alt="" /> <?php } ?> <h4><?php if ( $title1 ) echo $title1; ?></h4> <?php echo $content1; ?> <div class="clear"></div> <?php if ( $icon2 ) { ?><img class="icon" src="<?php echo $icon2; ?>" alt="" /> <?php } ?> <h4><?php if ( $title2 ) echo $title2; ?></h4> <?php echo $content2; ?> <div class="clear"></div>3) Open “master.css” (located in vendor/_assets/css/) 4) Replace:div.home-col img.icon { float: left; margin: 10px 15px 40px 0; }(line 105) with:div.home-col img.icon { float: left; margin: 10px 15px 0 0; }If you don’t want any text below the icon, you’ll have to play with the margin-bottom. So maybe instead of replacing this line in master.css, maybe add this in custom.css and play with the margin-bottom (3rd number).Please let me know how you get on with this.
Thanks
Olaf
P.S. Please contact us via the contact form on our profile page so that I can email you the code as the formatting is messed up a bit here.
Hi Olaf,
I tried emailing as you requested 16 days ago but never heard from you. Can you send me instructions? I dont see the code you posted in php file.
Thanks!
Hi rhahn,
apologies that I haven’t got back to you. The last 4 weeks have been extremely busy and I still haven’t got back on top of all my emails. I had a look through my queue but I couldn’t find your email. Could you email me again please and I will send you the code.
Thanks
Olaf
Hi Ray,
I’ve emailed you the code to sort out the alignments.
Please let me know if you experience any problems with this.
Cheers
Olaf
Hi Olaf,
Also, there a way to add custom fields (phone, required, drop down, etc…) to the contact form?
Thank you
Hi Rhahn,
thanks for your query. If you require additional fields on the contact form then you could try out the Contact 7 WP plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/contact-form-7/ as our form only covers the basics.
Alternatively, you could add additional fields to template-contact.php but this would require knowledge of PHP .
Please let me know how you get on with the Contact 7 Plugin.
Kind regards
Olaf
I just wanted to say thanks for the great theme! Its very easy to work with, good options page and very detailed documentation. best theme I have bought for a long time, well done.
Hi AFX ,
thanks for the kind words – we love hearing feedback like that
Cheers
Olaf
Would it be possible to put a form on one of the slides?
Hi Brandspring,
yes, that’s right. You can add HTML input forms to the slider as well. By default it would use the CSS of the theme which you can modify in order to meet your design requirements.
Kind regards
Olaf
I keep getting an error when trying to upload the ‘vendor’ folder to wordpress from dreamweaver. I’ve done this a hundred times so I know I’m doing it right but I keep getting this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_nav_menu() in /home/content/j/r/u/jrussell85/html/wp-content/themes/vendor/functions.php on line 12
Hi Beandipjames,
What version of WP are you using? The function “register_nav_menu()” was added in WP 3 .0 I think and it sounds like it’s missing in your installation.
Thanks
Olaf
I’ve also tried uploading the zip folder through wordpress backend and get the same error message

Thanks for getting back quickly. I upgraded to the newest wordpress and that fixed it! Thanks again.
