WOW. Great work. Looks stunning with a few tweaks to center the theme giving white space to both sides letting the content breath a bit.
http://tiny.cc/ud0yqwYour themes are so easy to tweak – I purchased DocPress years ago and loved it. Gotta pick this one up as well!
Hi there, I purposely left it left aligned to be a little different, but you can surely tweak it to be center aligned (as you’ve done).
Thanks for your support!
Mike
Yup either way looks great.
How is the Raleway Typeface handled? Is it through GoogleFonts (sorry if dumb question) and easy to change? The only reason I ask is that your themes are so popular – for good reason – that I want to make a few tweaks to create a unique look without breaking your excellent foundation.
Cheers!
The font is loaded in functions.php via Google Fonts, and referenced in style.css. It’s fairly easy to change it out if you know just a little code. You’d have to load the new font URL into the functions file and Find and Replace the font name in style.css. We don’t help with these customizations, but I can give you a few pointers to get started!
Mike
That is all I need to know – will purchase Friday!
A feature suggestion: ability to pick blog posts or portfolio as source for blocks. I didn’t realize that only portfolio items are currently blocks on the front page. It’s a relatively easy change to make in a child, but adding the option may make things a bit easier for other users.
That said, I was able to get the theme up and running in just a matter of minutes with your instructions. The look is great and the documentation quite good.
Hi there, That’s not a bad idea actually. I’ll add it to the list for one of the upcoming updates! Thanks for the suggestion!
Mike
I made a few minor adjustments as a child theme: (1) changing link color in Hero box, (2) adding 10px to each side of the comments for Disqus, and (3) adding a “Front Page” post category and using that as the basis for the boxes.
Feel free to download: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10143393/verb-child.zip
Thanks, Mark!
There may be a small bug with get_the_term_list on line 81 of index.php. I think it should be get_the_term_list( $post->ID, ‘category’, ’’, ’, ’, ’’ ). For some reason, as it was, it started throwing errors when I added more categories.
Hi Mark, I’ll look into it first thing in the AM. I have an update coming with a few other adjustments, so I’ll include it. Thanks for the heads up!
Mike
Looks like that line wasn’t even supposed to be there. I’ve updated the theme and should be available shortly!
Mike
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your great WP theme ! It’s pretty cool !!!
I have a little question : is it possible to use all my differents post (that i have already write in my WP) into Portfolio items ?
I tried to export all my posts and i want to re-upload them into Portfolio items but it’s not possible !!!
Do you think it’s possible ?
Thanks
Cdrik
Hi there, Currently the portfolio utilizes a custom post type to display the portfolio items. This may change in the future as I’ve gotten a few requests to allow blog posts to be available as squares as well. Until then, you’ll have to recreate those posts as portfolio items!
Mike
Hi Mike,
Looks awesome! I’m getting closer to the point to using your theme for my blog every minute, but just a few questions in advance:
Thanks for getting back! Sander
Hi there, There currently is no support for slider galleries. There are many plugins that will do this, but still may require some modification to work with the theme. Check out Flexslider.
Certainly all titles won’t fit into the squares on mobile or tablet view. You should keep your titles short for this reason. Also, you have to remember there is no hover state on iPad, so likely iPad users won’t notice the overflowed text. You only notice it on the desktop mobile view, which isn’t how users will see the site.
In the future I may change the homepage to allow blog posts as well.
Mike
I’m gonna give it a shot, just bought your theme! Let’s see how close I’ll come in getting the layout I have in mind
Wow. Typography is super awesome!! I just can’t find enough words to appreciate it.
+3 for a full page template. Still going to purchase but a full page option without a sidebar would make it easier for buyers to sell items – ie a sales page would look different from a blog page.
Cheers!
great theme. Seems like everything is working except one thing. I am having issues with the portfolio sections linking correctly from the home page portfolio post. I created a portfolio post and it works correctly but when I click on the link (from the home page) to the portfolio page it says “page not found”.
Currently the linking structure looks like this: www.mysite.com/portfolio/xyz
Any suggestions?
Hi, you should go to your permalinks page and save the page. It should flush out the settings. If that doesn’t work, hop on the forum and we’ll take a look! http://okaythemes.com/support
Mike
thanks it worked.
Preview is messed up all of a sudden.
Sorry, I was having a demo issue this morning. All sorted out!
Mike
Great Theme, is there a PSD layout included ?
No PSD included unfortunately! It was designed entirely in my head and the browser.
Mike
No worries Mike, it is stunning. Lovely work. Shall be purchasing
A very neat theme! Is there a way to filter portfolio thumbs by category?
If you click the category associated with the post, you’ll see all posts in that category. For example: http://themes.okaythemes.com/verb/categories/photography/
Mike
Thanks, Mike. Also wanted to know – the portfolio thumbnails are faded out, is this the faded image file, or this can be remove/tweaked via CSS?
The images have a css effect on them that makes them faded. You could remove the CSS if you wanted, but you’d have to modify style.css.
Mike
I am so close to buying this theme, if only the menu bar would not vanish when scrolling down in fullscreen mode. Any way of having the menu bar stay where it is when scrolling in fullscreen mode?
Hi, You’d have to add some fixed positioning in the CSS!
Mike
Hi how did you make your block posts display with image on the left, text on the right? Did you use a text widget for the text content?
Love the theme by the way!
You have to utilize the Portfolio Items to get the layout like the demo. The content of the post shows up on the right with the Portfolio Items. http://cl.ly/MJKC
Mike
Oh I’ve realized since that I only have problems displaying a block post as full page if I want to use the Pull Quote feature. Is it possible to do this?
Thanks!
I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you’re trying to do here. Can you be more specific?
Mike
Will I be able to change the theme background color from gray to red after purchasing it?
You could use the customizer to change the background on the theme.
Mike
Any chance you are thinking about adding support for additional post formats? Audio, Quote, etc…
Hi, no plans at this point.
Mike
Hi Mike. Great theme. Just a question. I can’t seem to find the css line that changes the size of the photos from the home and that takes away the grey transparency that’s on the photo as well (not hover). Is it possible to change it from inside? The rest is perfect.
Hi there, check out style.css and look for .block-post .featured-image img. The opacity value is giving the images the grayed appearance. You can remove the opacity if you’d like, and your images will be displayed as is.
Mike
If i could do both would be beautifull. Thanks!
Hi, unfortunately I can’t help customize your theme, but can tell you that the box size styles are located in media-queries.css around line 333.
Mike
Hi MikeCalister, Would you be so kind and assist me in the portfolio section? Here’s what’s happening – It seems that there is a mix up somewhere in the theme, possibly. I’ve created two portfolio post, one Fotographie and the other Capriolenhof. On the Capriolenhof portfolio images from the Fotographie post are being mix in on that posted for some reason, and the Capriolenhof portfolio images are stacking and the images are not align left with the text align right, although the align left is assign to all images.

Also I have reinstalled WordPress 3.5 and both verb and the child theme numerous times, but am still getting the same results! I’m working on Mac locally with MAMP 2.1.1 installed!
This is such a wonderful theme, and I thank you for your great craftsmanship in the business of wordpress theme design!
Looking forward!
Hi, That’s not how you add images into that area. The content area is only for text. To insert images into the left side, you need to check out the Multiple Image Post instructions in the help file: http://themes.okaythemes.com/docs/verb/
Mike
Hi, Great work, thanks. On the portfolio pages how do you get the images on the left and all text on the right like the demo. Thanks Nick
Hi, check out the help file, under the Adding Portfolio Items section: http://themes.okaythemes.com/docs/verb/
Mike
Hi Mike, I’ve done all that, added title, description and 3 images but it just puts in one under the other not like in the demo where the text is on the right hand side of the images.
Thanks Nick
Ok I’ve got it to work, don’t click the insert into past button. Thanks
Custom fields aren’t showing up for me!
Did you make sure they are turned on? Make sure they are on in the Screen Options tab: http://cl.ly/MPcc
Mike
Mike, what’s the most optimal size for the portfolio images? I’ve uploaded one what was 550px width, and it’s showing up a bit fuzzy.
Thanks for the great theme!
Hi there, I went rather big with my demo images, from 1200px-1400px wide, saved for the web (averaging around 150-200kb each). Scaled down from this size, they look pretty great on Retina.
