Does the download include campaign monitor ready files? You said that the file was compatible with cm but I was want to make sure that they are included in the download file after purchase and ready to go.

Hello.

While the files are compatible with Campaign monitor you will still have to load them and make some small changes in them to use their own template system (for ex. the view in mobile browser and view online, unsubscribe links etc).

Hi,

I love the design and versatility of this email template.

Does anyone know if it can be used with Dada mail or PHPList?

Thanks.

bitpub

Hello.

I have looked into the documentation of phplist and I see no reason why i shouldn’t work with it. It is just a html newsletter template. You edit it and load it before sending.

Sold!

Thanks for the quick response.

Much appreciated.

Hi,

Great template, just one question:

What is the final file size of the template, with and without the images you have used in the 1/3 column general use no. 2 layout?

Is it under 50kb?

Many thanks.

bitpub

Hello. The size is closer to 75kb but there is a file bg.png that is 32kb of this total size. If you convert it to .gif you would definitely go under 50kb.

I see that there is a “Forward to a Friend” link on the footer of this email, but as far as I know, there is no HTML or Javascript code that can forward an email. How can this link be used?

bitpub

Hello.

You could make an intermediary page where the person could add friends email addresses. If you make it php you could send to it through GET the exact link to the hosted version of the newsletter that the user wants to forward and insert it in a text area with the message to the receiver.

Hi. I have never done any email marketing before but would like to start. I like your email template and was wondering how much html knowledge you need to complete a working e-newsletter that can be sent from either mac mail or by using a email sender like VerticalResponse?

I do have a basic understanding of html for websites but would I need to find out from elsewhere how to use html for e-newsletters?

many thanks,

Si

bitpub

Hello.

You need basic knowledge of html to get started with this newsletter – you just have to know how to edit the html source code and add paragraphs, images, lists, links, headers and other basic tags. You’ll also need to know how to edit images, host them on a server and change the links in the newsletter to absolute links pointing to the hosted images and to use a basic online service to transform the embeded css into inline css(this last step is optional but recommended).

The main reason why such little knowledge is required is because the item comes with a layout creation system – which is actually pre written code that will help you create the main layout. So if you read the documentation and use that you won’t have to write anything to have the skeleton that will hold the content created.

Then you job will be just to add the content – and that is relatively easy too because this item comes with code samples for every tag would will have to use.

If you haven’t looked already, view a demo video of the layout creation system. It contains all the stuff I mention in this replay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7LMXx7SFWA&fmt=22

Thanks for the quick reply and for putting my mind at rest. I look forward to putting my knowledge to the test!

Hello,

I use an email provider by the name of Benchmark email http://www.benchmarkemail.com and I get emails back from recipients stating the email is always staggered and not aligning correctly.

I insert the inline code where the custom coding goes but am I missing a step after that?

bitpub

The email template has been thoroughly tested to work well in all major email clients so, if the application you are sending it with doesn’t modify the code, the most likely problem could be how it was edited and / or what email client people are using, screen resolutions etc.

I need to know more info and see a newsletter sample nd ideally a screenshot of the exact rendering. to give you an accurate answer.

So please send me a message through the contact form on my user page http://themeforest.net/user/bitpub so I can have your email and exchange files and we will get to the bottom of this.

hi, nice design, but whats that mobile version, not working in demo.. will it come with the package?

bitpub

Hello.

In short the link doesn’t do anything because it is just a placeholder to give you an idea what you can have there.

I answered the same question on the first page of comments so if you want a detailed response please read the response I gave to gluegl ’s question ( http://themeforest.net/item/versatile-newsletter-2-9-layouts-modular-system/discussion/107325?page=1 ).

Thank you!

I bought this item and I love it so far. It has worked on every platform, but GoDaddy’s Webmail. Of course, my client uses and prefers GoDaddy webmail. Is there a way to correct this?

bitpub

Hello.

I haven’t had experience with GoDaddy’s web mail service so far.

I need to find out more about how their service works and what modifications you have done to the initial templates to help you fix that small bug.

Please contact me through the form on my user page so I can have your email and be able to exchange files and other info with you.

Thanks :)

Hi Nice template and very versitale.

I like template1. Am i right in thinking that i can just open template1 html and edit the text rather than creating a new layout in the layout creation part?? If so, which should i use, Layouts-embeded-ccs or layouts-inline-ccs, whats the difference???

Thanks

Gavin

bitpub

Hello. Thank you for the purchase!

Yes you are correct, you can just use template 1 directly. The layout builder is there so you can create a different layout more easily if the 9 available ones are not what you need for a particular newsletter. So if one of the layouts suits you use that and maybe use the layout system to extend it but don’t start from scratch.

I recommend you use the embedded css version because it is easy to edit and it can be converted to inline css just before sending the newsletter. Read the last part of the documentation as it touches up on the subject and also explains, by example, the difference between inline and embedded css.

Is there any way to embed a video within the template?

Great work!

bitpub

There is a way to embed videos in newsletters, you can Google the topic and find many articles, but unfortunately email client support for this is pretty bad. That is the reason the email templates do not have such an example included, because I only wanted to offer something that would work 100% in all email clients.

I personally would just offer a way for people to see video content, like an image with an image from the video and a play button, that would open an html page in a new tab with the video autostarting.

Hi,

I guess this template will work if I export the finished HTML from Dreamweaver into Stream Send and adjust the unsubscribe and forward links?

Thanks

Chris

bitpub

Hello.

I have never used Stream Send before but i can say that if it allows you to add your own custom templates then this item should have no problem working with Stream Send.

The step necessary to do before sending are – customizing and adding content, hosting your images on a server and transforming all relative file paths into absolute ones, inline the css and then importing and sending.

All these step are covered in detail in file the documentation.

Ii have to say this look really really good. We will use this really soon in our newsletter. Nice job.

I can’t say enough about this template. I wish all products here were as well documented, as comprehensive and downright as easy to use. I wish I could rate this a 10 out of 5. The flexibility is off the chart!

AMAZING WORK !

GREAT NEWSLETTER TEMPLATE ! I can’t recommend this template enough. It is really superb. Thanks to the Designer who made it. Great work :)

With it, I designed my first ever newsletter, and not only does the template have a really uncluttered, beautiful design, but it is highly modular and thus customizable. In addition, the documentation is really clear and comprehensive.

Again, thanks to the guys who made this.

Are Versatile and Versatile 2 both the same width, same modular system, etc.? As in do they completely match each other in that if I bought both it would be like I got one pack where you could not tell they were from a different pack?

bitpub

Hello.

The two products share the same layout building principle ( modular layouts) but they are not the same and interchangeable.

Versatile 2 comes besides the new general look and new layouts with a great improvement in implementing modular layouts – the Layout Creation System – which Versatile 1 at the moment doesn’t include. You can read more about it and see a video of the layout creator in action on the items description page.

Since since they share the same principle and most of the same basic source code I guess you could buy them both and use parts from one in another but with slight modifications.

I intend to launch an update in January 2011 to Versatile 1 to add features from versatile 2 and after that is launched they will share the same basic code and be 100% interchangeable.

Hi VERY good newsletter template.

I am only gona be sending around 50 newsletters a month. Is there any email marketing providers (mail chimp, ect) you would recommend- ideally FREE .

Thanks

Gavin

bitpub

Hello.

As far as I know Mailchimp is free for under 1000 subscribers and less then 6000 newsletters sent per month so it could be a good choice.
