Can I bypass opening up the post from the sortable gallery and just have it open in a lightbox, without having to go to the post first and then click again?

Hi. There should be a “en_EN.po” file, used for translation. The front itself is in english, with or without the file.
The Image in background and big title are part of the slideshow, you can create one in Dashboard -> Slideshow, then in theme options -> Front page builder add it, this can be found also in documentation.pdf file.
