Hi! Great theme! I’m going to buy it for my costumer. Is it some options to translate theme in russian? Or i need to do this manually?

I am really impressed with this great theme. Before I purchase this theme, have couple of questions.

  • I already have a wordpress.com hosted photo blog (my3rdi.org). Is there an option to import posts/comments etc from my current photo blog to use in this theme?
  • Also is there similar option to import photos/descriptions to be used in the homepage photos.

Hi,

There is a way to export/import information from one site to another however in this theme the photos are powered by a custom post type. If you current site powers photos with blog posts, you may have to add an extra step of importing and then converting posts to post type (with a plugin).

In short, it is possible but it might be a bit fiddly.

Okay, you’re on the very short list of themes for my redesigned site. I really like the simplicity, and I’m sure my customers will, too. Couple of questions before I pull the trigger:

1. Do I understand correctly that the categories of pictures are customizable? I do mostly landscape photography, and I divide my galleries either by location or type of scene, i.e., Seascape, Landscape, Rocks, Surf, Lighthouses, etc. Thus I would need a set of categories different from those show on the demo.

2. Can you set different thumbnail sizes for the homepage vs. the gallery pages? I like the mosaic effect of small thumbs on the home page, but when customers click to the gallery, it would be nice if the thumbs were larger.

3. Your blog demo shows full images, all the same size. Can you use thumbs instead, so viewers can click on the thumb and get the photo at its full size? In the lightbox or screen or whatever you call your flavor on Viewfinder? Could you embed several thumbs in a post, each clickable?

4. And if you can, will the theme generate thumbs or would I have to make my own and set a link?

Thanks!

OrmanClark

Hi,

1. Yes, you can assign each photo a particular type. This means you can show gallery pages which only show images of your chosen type e.g. landscapes, portraits etc. You can have as many types as you like.

2. Not out of the box no. It is possible but you would need to edit the code of the gallery template. It’s a relatively small change.

3. Yes, you can insert thumbs into a post and have that link to the fullsize image. You can also insert the built-in WordPress gallery functions which will insert a small grid of thumbs into a post.

4. The theme will automatically generate all thumbs however you can choose to overwrite them on an individual basis should you need more control.

Hey, Thanks for the quick response!

I think your answers pretty much seal the deal, then. I assume that should I want to try to change the code to display different size thumbs for galleries as opposed to the home page (#2 above), that would be something to discuss on the support forum?

Thanks again!

OrmanClark

Sure, we can help you with that in the support forum :)

Hey,

I want to know if there’s a way, we can make the images viewed so as to cover the entire browser window? I am a photographer and would like to display my work the maximum size.

Thanks.

OrmanClark

Hi,

In the overlay (displayed when you click a thumbnail) you can show images of any size you require. They do not “go fullscreen” to fill the browser however there is no limit in dimensions to what you can upload.

Hi Orman. I bought your theme. I would like to know if i can reverse the hover effect. I wanted to make it like 75% opacity on normal state and 100% on mouse over state on the thumbnails…How? Thanks.

Is it possible to integrate a ecommerce plugin into this theme? Shopp or WP Ecommerce?

Just need a simple way to sell my photo’s

thanks

OrmanClark

I wouldn’t be able to absolutely guarantee either plugin as I have not used them, however, I cannot see a reason why either one would not work.

Can you share any photograpy websites that are up and running using this theme?

Hi

Fantastic theme, I really like the layout for hompage 2. The whole template is really slick.

I have a few of questions for you.

1. Is it possible and/or how hard would it be to get the logo and menu items to be on a single line and be centred. I don’t know the correct web terminology but you know how a lot of web pages align to the middle of the page.

I will only need to have five menu items; home, gallery, blog, contact and archives. So I don’t think there would be an issue space wise as I wouldn’t use the quote.

2. Same question as above but relating to the blog layout. Can it be centred as opposed to being right aligned.

Thanks for your time

OrmanClark

Hi!

1. It’s possible yes, you would need to edit the theme’s CSS in order to layout the menu and logo as you wish. If you’re not proficient with CSS yourself it may well be a task for a developer.

2. Pretty much as per question 1. Possible but would need to change the CSS .

Please tell me there is a way to add images besides 1 per post… please please please—It took me the better part of a week to find this and I want/need it BUT I cant do single posts. I have over 1600 images.

OrmanClark

Hi, this theme is 1 image per post. With some many images to include it may be a better option to find a theme capable of grouping images into galleries.

Hi, Just bought this template and have to say it is hot! However I am having trouble setting up my gallery to look like your demo. I uploaded photos into the small thumbnails but it still display my thumbnails at 240×240 and when clicked on the thumbnail it display a blog like page instead of a large image. I know I’m doing something wrong here but I can’t figure it out. Can you please advise how I can get my photos to show correctly?

Thanks.

Hi, is it possible to set a gallery page to have a slider like on the homepage? The preview only shows a grid option. Thanks

OrmanClark

Hi, only the homepage comes equipped with a slider I’m afraid.

Hi Orman,

I think I am going to buy this theme, but first can you tell me, does it adapt to different screen resolutions, even if it is just using the slider to enable the user to scroll the images horizontally? So many people now have iPads and I’d like it to look good on these.

Can I increase the default homepage image size? Will your answer to my first question still apply?

Is it possible to pinch/zoom the images on an iPad, so that the resolution increases to match the image size?

Thanks a million, Daniel

Hi, I just downloaded this theme for my photoblog. I’m very new to all of this and was wondering how to get my homepage set up like your preview with the various thumbnails. All I’m looking to do is have thumbnails that can be enlarged when they are clicked on! I’ve looked around in the theme options and haven’t found how to do it! Thank you!

I’ve purchased the Viewfinder theme, and while I really like it overall, I am finding that I wish the homepage gallery would behave differently. Rather than being a static gallery, I wish it would automatically populate with photos from recent blog posts.

How difficult / impossible would it be to have the homepage pull all images (not just featured images, or the first image in a post, but all images in a post—and perhaps limit to a specific total amount) from the most recent blog posts and be able to dynamically sort those images (like it currently does) based on the category in which the post (from which the images were gathered) appears?
