Perfect theme for my needs, but im having the same issues with categories:

When i select a postcategory it automatically resets to nothing when i save the post.

Hope you can update soon! Great theme otherwise! :D

Very good theme. Is it possible to add Post format (image, gallery, ....) for pages. Right now pages can only apply templates. What I would like to see is that it also can have a gallery/video on top of the pages.

Thanks

MushinDesign

Hi and thanks for purchasing :)

Post formats is a WordPress feature for posts only however I’m working on a couple of updates which will enable you to add video/galleries through a shortcode.

You can add images just by adding them into your page :)

do u know when it will be available?

MushinDesign

The update is currently available to allow you to add Vimeo and YouTube videos via shortcodes. I’m currently trying to work out what would be the easiest way to add galleries via shortcodes.

Is there anyway to stop the post views having their text go into that 3 column system? A simple standard one column is what I’m after.

Also, the ‘hidden widget’ arrow, anyway to bring that down a couple of hundred pixels and make it a bit bigger and more noticeable?

Cheers in advance, Martin P.s: nice theme ;D

MushinDesign

Hi and thanks for purchasing :)

Sure, simply open up the default-styles.css file from the styles folder, look for the ’.cols’ selector and delete it or clear out the styles from that selector.

For the button, look for the ’#widget_area a.showhide’ selector in the CSS and edit the values to whatever you like.

Hope that helps :) Martin

Hey, is there a way I can add the “like” button to your portfolio-projects? :)

MushinDesign

Hey there thanks for purchasing :)

It’s not included as standard for portfolio projects just the blog posts right now however you could get them working relatively easily :)

What you’d need to do is place the following code where each portfolio item is created:
<?php echo getPostLikeLink(get_the_ID());?>

Then within the stylesheet default-styles.css, you would need to modify the CSS slightly as the current styles for the like buttons are targeted for the blog posts, so wherever there is a .like or .post-like class selector, you’d need to remove the part of the selector that targets the blog pages, for example where it has .post-footer class prepending the like classes.

Hope this makes sense, if you want a little more info, I followed this tutorial when creating them :)

Thanks for the help, but it seems number of likes uses the accent-color chosen from theme styles… Can’t figure how to make it turn gray/red instead? Hmm

MushinDesign

Is it just the number that’s taking the accent colour?

Do you have a link to your site and I’ll take a look.

Should be a pretty simple CSS rule, a tool I use for situations like this is Chrome’s Inspect Element (Rickt click > Inspect Element). Very handy ;)

Martin

MushinDesign

Try adding the following CSS selector:

span.count { color: #ccc; }
or try it with a space:
span .count { color: #ccc; }

How can I enable the comments to work on single portfolio pages? :) I added the

<?php comments_template(); ?>

to single-portfolio_post_type.php, but it says Comments are closed? :)

And one more thing if yo go into one of my projects, you can see the description is kind of messed up;

http://www.russedesign.no/?portfolio_post_type=lucid

Help me out? :)

MushinDesign
What you need to do is open the following file (relative to the theme folder) functions > custom-post-types > custom-post-type-portfolio.php, now where you see near the bottom (Line 30) the following line:
'supports' => array('title', 'editor', 'thumbnail')
Change it to the following:
'supports' => array('title', 'editor', 'thumbnail', 'comments')
Then once that’s done, go to your list of projects, click the Quick Edit link for each item and check the box that says Allow comments, sorted :)

I’m not seeing any issues on my end with your project descriptions…

Hi,

How do I increase the space in between the masonry gallery pictures (I think it’s currently at 20px) and shrink the max width that the featured images fill.

MushinDesign

Hi there,

You’ll need to open up the stylesheet default-styles.css within the style folder and change margin-right within the #layout_spaced .work_item class to the amount of space you’d like.

You then need to open up the file get_masonrified.php within the includes folder and on around line 57 where you see the following code

$gutterTotal = $cols * 20;

...change the 20 to whatever value you modified in the CSS .

That will sort out your space increase :)

For the max width do you mean reduce how big the masonry images appear in the grid?

Re: For the max width do you mean reduce how big the masonry images appear in the grid?

Yes! I would like the masonry images to have a smaller height and width.

MushinDesign

Ok so to do this you’re going to want to open up the file includes > get_masonrified.php again.

Now the way the images work is by defining how many columns should be displayed on the screen, depending on the browsers width, then they are dynamically resized until the next column breakpoint is reached, the code that does this is the following:

if ($browserWidth >= 1200) {
     $cols = 4;
}
else if ($browserWidth >= 800 && $browserWidth < 1200) {
     $cols = 3;
}
else if ($browserWidth >= 401 && $browserWidth < 800) {
     $cols = 2;
}
else if ($browserWidth < 401) {
     $cols = 1;
}

What you want to change is the $cols = x bit.

So for example bump each of those numbers up by 1 so the code block looks like this:

if ($browserWidth >= 1200) {
     $cols = 5;
}
else if ($browserWidth >= 800 && $browserWidth < 1200) {
     $cols = 4;
}
else if ($browserWidth >= 401 && $browserWidth < 800) {
     $cols = 3;
}
else if ($browserWidth < 401) {
     $cols = 2;
}

This will reduce the size of the thumbs, hope this helps :)

is there a way to add thumbnails to the different images uploaded for each project under the main image being displayed?

www.dawn-robertson.com

MushinDesign

Hi there,

The theme is setup to display project images in a slider, therefore if you wanted to display thumbs also, you would need to add them into the text box in the wysiwyg editor by selecting theme from your media library and choosing the size you would want them displayed.

Hope this helps, Martin

Hey Martin,

The theme is working great, but I’m just getting one small issue.

On Safari 4 and on some Android browsers, the most recent post doesn’t scale correctly.

The width is fine, but the height gets crushed down to 10-20px.

http://i45.tinypic.com/4qr0yf.jpg

It returns to the correct size if the window is resized, or the users zooms in or out.

I know the problem is very specific and difficult to recreate, but if you have any ideas, could you let me know?

Thanks, Ger

MushinDesign

Hey Ger,

That’s a strange one, could you post up a link so I can take a closer look please.

Glad everything’s going great otherwise!

Very very nice theme. Is there a way to ‘stick’ a video or image in one spot that remains static?

MushinDesign

Hi there and thanks for the interest,

There is not currently a supported way of doing this in the theme, however the theme makes use of the plugin on this site which may help you out if you were thinking of implementing such a feature.

I just purchased this theme and when I uploaded it.. it says The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Nevermind, I uploaded again, and it seemed to upload just fine.

MushinDesign

Hi there and thanks for purchasing,

It sounds like you needed to extract the theme folder from the package you downloaded from ThemeForest and upload that instead, glad you got sorted ;)

Great.. thank you for your help. I’m really liking this theme!

I do have a couple of questions that I’d really appreciate some help around. :) I hope you don’t mind I post it here.

I’m trying to add video to the product posts and the video doesn’t show in the preview http://www.chanelbayless.com/start-here/ (if you click on the preview, you’ll see 2 video previews on the inside of the page)

However, when I added it to the regular posts where I could select ‘video’ it shows up fine.. http://www.chanelbayless.com/

Am I doing something wrong? In both cases, I added the video to the text area after selecting the youtube button, and then also added it to the embed area.

Also, Should the products post to the blog post page? I would really like to see each product item post on the main post page so visitors can see the new stuff I put up. :)

Also, Is it possible to have the pages on the product post a quote or status update? I ask because I would love to give a thought or an idea or general information to people visiting one of my project pages Thanks again for your help! :)

MushinDesign

Hi there,

Have you removed the videos all together I can’t see any on your pages when I look, could you directly link me to them please.

I’m a little unsure of what you mean by this point

Should the products post to the blog post page?

Sorry if I’m being silly here :)

It’s only within your blog where you can have status updates, quotes etc as these are WordPress features. Within the portfolio, on the grid page of items you can only have images/thumbs, if you wanted to have a quote within the page when the user clicks through to the full page you can do so with the built in shortcodes (again, sorry if this is not what you mean)

Kind regards, Martin

I made you some pictures / images so you could see what I meant. http://www.chanelbayless.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/wordpress-vivo.pdf

MushinDesign

Ah I see what you mean, thanks for the clarification :)

The portfolio isn’t designed to show the video clip on the grid page, only the actual project page, so you simply add a featured image as normal which will show up on the grid and the video that you embed in the option will show the video on the actual project page.

I did this as the masonry plugin used sometimes has unexpected results with embedded videos and filtering, and also to help load times if someone had a portfolio full of videos – for some the page would take an age to load.

One more quick question.. will the site get too bogged down if I post often to the blog ? (by often, I mean.. daily or two times daily?)

MushinDesign

I shouldn’t think so, plus even if you posted two times a day there’s the pagination so you can show as many or as little posts at a time as you like.

Hi, me again. I still have the questions above, but I also noticed that the portfolio pages have fixed columns. My portfolio / projects, will be anything from services to products, to whatever.. Is it possible to have a full post page in the portfolio section? More than anything, I just like the way it looks and I can organize my posts.. but I don’t plan on it being only picture images.

MushinDesign

Hi,

Do you mean you just don’t want the text in the portfolio pages to display in the two columns? You can do this by simply opening the file default-styles.css, searching for the .cols selector and clearing the styles out of it (or deleting it all together).

Hope this helps, Martin

Hello,

A couple issues with the post type “image”: – when the thumbnail is clicked, the thumbnail appears in the overlay, not a larger image as expected. For clarification see here: http://imageshack.us/a/img515/1148/thumbnailimagesizesamea.jpg How can a larger image appear? – “undefined” is always written beneath the image when the thumbnail is clicked. For clarification see here: http://imageshack.us/a/img69/7921/undefinedcaption.jpg How can a caption for the image be displayed instead?

Some random notes:

- when logging in, the site’s URL always appears. I have never had a theme do this before. For clarification see here: http://imageshack.us/a/img13/2145/urlonpage.jpg

- would be good if when an animated gif file is used in the “image” post type that it is centered, because given the fixed width of the blocks there is generally excess space which looks awkward.

Thanks, and cheers for an awesome theme!

MushinDesign

Hi there and thanks for purchasing.

Thanks for your feedback, I’ve just published an update to the theme so the full image is displayed when you click the lightbox, also you can now add some text in the Caption text field when adding images and this will be shown instead of undefined.

I believe the site URL showing is due to a WordPress upgrade unfortunately as I’m getting it on all the sites I’m running also.

I’ll keep this in mind for a future update, although it’s designed for larger images to be used, so it can then scale them down to the 300px width and keep the aspect ratio in relation to the height.

Hope this helps, Martin

Hi Martin,

Do you have an “importable” XML of your theme’s demo content that I can use? I was hoping to get started pretty quickly with customizing the theme, but am wanting to begin work with the theme already looking like the awesome demo you have.

Thanks

I don’t unfortunately, I tend not to do them as the themes are rather quick to set up with the docs and with the ThemeForest T’s & C’s I can’t supply any of the 3rd party images used in the demo, sorry!

Let me know if I can be of anymore assistance, Martin

Hi Mushin, I’m thinking of buying this template, but I have a few questions, if you could answer please:

1º On the Portfolio Detailed Is it possible to put Slider images in for some posts(images sliding in a specific block/post) instead of just a static image? Example: Space Art Wallpaper Pack (having the images sliding on the block also).

2º On the post view is it possible to have the post itself + related articles in masonry view on the side?

3º Also on the post view the posts that have slider images at the moment the user has to click to view the next image. Is it possible to have them slide by them selves and not only just by user clicking? Example: http://mushindesign.co.uk/demos/vivo/portfolio_post_type/space-art-wallpaper-pack/

Much Appreciated for your excellent work and attention. Thanks.

MushinDesign

Hi there,

1. On the portfolio detailed page, you can add a few more images and they display in a slider, alternatively you can supply a video link which will show the video instead. Is this what you mean?

2. Do you mean on the actual post itself?

3. There isn’t a built in option but I could easily change that for you if you like.

Kind regards, Martin

Hi thanks for the reply.

2º On the post view is it possible to have the post itself + related articles in masonry view on the side? – 2. Do you mean on the actual post itself?

No not inside the post but around the post… Have the post and on the side (outside the post) the related articles in masonry view

3. There isn’t a built in option but I could easily change that for you if you like. Awsome.

Hey Mushin, I already did most of the changes, but not I still have 2 issues:

1: Feature image I would like to have a slider on the featured image not just one, is this possible?

2: Portfolio doenst work very well with the polylang plugin for multilingua website. He doesnt find the pages do you know why?

: how can I change the URL : www.xpto.bla/portfolio_post_type/316×316/

Remove the “portfolio_post_type” from the URL or at least rename this…

Thanks, David

MushinDesign

Hey David,

1: Do you mean on the grid view of all the projects? If so I’m afraid not, this is a thumb image to get a snapshot of the project so the rest of the images can be shown within the single project view.

2: I can’t say I’ve used this plugin before however removing the “portfolio_post_type” slug is not an option as this is how custom post types display, this can’t be changed. I’ll take a look into the plugin and see what I can find.

Kind regards, Martin

Martin I solved also these issues:

FOr futher reference if anybody needs it: Remove permalink “portfolio_post_type”: use plugin “Remove slug from custom post type”

For translation use plugin: qTranslate

Also got working - 2º On the post view is it possible to have the post itself + related articles in masonry view on the side? —DONE —Works great

-Also on the post view the posts that have slider images at the moment the user has to click to view the next image. Is it possible to have them slide by them selves and not only just by user clicking? — DONE

Sliding Featured image in grid viewMasonary also done :D

Thanks anyway! Love your theme! Btw found some issues regarding the responsiveness of the site, but fixed adding a few new media sizes…
