Bean Social WordPress Plugin

The latest addition to the Bean Plugin family – Bean Social WordPress Plugin. It generates a nice widget and provides quite a few shortcode options for you to place icons anywhere and everywhere. Give it a look – oh & of course it’s free.

Cheers! Rich

Bean Pricing Tables WordPress Plugin

The latest (and arguably the greatest) addition to the Bean Plugin family – Bean Pricing Tables WordPress Plugin. Give it a look – yup, it’s free too.

I can’t find any short code listings. Any idea what’s up?

,Thanks

ThemeBeans

Yup, you have to download the Bean Shortcodes Plugin (there’s another 5 free plugins that are compatible too) over on our website.

Hi, i have one question before i buy this nice theme. Is it possible to center top logo over centered nav? And can i change the white field to dark color?

Thanks.

ThemeBeans

Both of those are possible with some CSS modifications. :)

Rich

Hi, I noticed that the logo on this theme is not as sharp on retina. Are there any plans to make that retina compatible?

ThemeBeans

No it’s not available as a stock template (at least not yet). The current built is pretty peculiarly set up for it’s exact use. I’d need to add back in a lot of standard stock features, and pull a bunch of the the specific features that pertain to displaying our themes.

It’s on my maybe list though ;)

Thanks Rich. You should totally do it :)

Haha, we’ll see :)

Please help. How can I translate the theme to Dutch? I found some .po and .mo files in this directory: /lib/languages/

But this is only the language file for the admin area. Where are the files for the whole website? Thanks in advance.

ThemeBeans

Hey mate, the theme’s .po/.mo file contains all the translation strings for all text within the theme files & custom admin files. Your website content itself would need to be translated via an external plugin, like WPML.

Hey guys. I’m uploading pieces to my portfolio section and on one I get a fatal error on the page when it loads.

“Call to a member function have_posts() on a non-object in…”

Any idea as to what’s up?

ThemeBeans

Yikes, that’s not good at all. Are you by chance not selecting categories for your portfolio posts? If that’s not the issue do you mind copying your comment here in a message through our Bean Support Center?. Don’t worry, we’ll get you sorted.

Thanks for a quick reply. As of now I think it might have been an issue of not selecting the category because it’s not there now. Thanks again for help.

ThemeBeans

I’m working on a better way to pull the categories, to add in some failsafes of sorts.

Thanks for reaching out for help!

Rich

hi, great theme but can I have the xml file so I can set mine up like your demo? Can’t seem to get the portfolio to work…I installed the plugin.

ThemeBeans

Sure, you can grab it here. If you still need some help, grab at us through the Help Center.

Hi Rich – I love the typography on this theme. Is the black skin able to be be changed? I prefer to read a blog with a white background. Can you also hide the sidebar? Thanks, Maree

ThemeBeans

Hey Maree – glad you like the typography – it’s among my favorites as well. It’s not customizable within the Theme Customizer, but you may alter the colors in the style.css stylesheet. You’ll need to change the body color, as well as body text and paragraph text.

I have to double check (on my mobile device atm) about the sidebar question. I believe you can opt to not use a sidebar on posts and pages. Let me get back to you on that.

Cheers, Rich

Hi guys,

i still love the theme, but would it be possible to add XING as social network? It is similar to Linkedin and important in Germany. Thanks a lot!

ThemeBeans

I’ll look into it for sure!

Rich

Hey, it would be extremely helpful if the footer text and branding text in the header would be stored in a way that they don’t get overwritten everytime you upload the theme update…

Now I have to figure out what text I used and implement it again everywhere.

// If you did the same, stop banging your head on your desk and google for webcache.

ThemeBeans

That’s very strange. Was it an update from < 2.0?

For the portfolio sorting, change out the orderby and order sections of content-portfolio.php (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/TzcK ) to the following: ‘orderby’ => ‘menu_order’, ‘order’ => ‘ASC’,

Rich

boudewijndanser

Don’t remember what my previous version was… But is this some kind of hack? Shouldn’t it work right “out of the box”?

ThemeBeans

Nope it’s not a hack. The sorting function is a global portfolio option, which does not necessarily work with all the portfolio enabled themes – only the ones that specifically call for it.

For newer themes, I have built in an optional select field that sets an option on how to display the posts (one of which is the menu ordering system).

Rich

Recently my home branding tagline and branding introduction stopped displaying in Chrome… It’s there in the source and shows up in the second load/ refresh. But not the 1st time. Any ideas?

ThemeBeans

Do you mind contacting our Help Team with this comment here and your URL so I can investigate for you? Thanks!

Rich

boudewijndanser

Will do. Thanks.

ThemeBeans

Received and responded, we’ll carry on over there :)

Do you have a backend demo setup somewhere? I’m trying to figure this out before I purchase:

Is there a quick way to duplicate the portfolio section across multiple pages & then have subcategories? In the end what I need is 4 different different portfolio sections with subcategories – each on it’s on page. Can your theme support this? Or would it take a decent amount of customization to pull this off?

I could probably answer my own question if I could take a look at the backend.

ThemeBeans

Hey Wex!

I don’t have a running demo, but here’s some screenshots for you: http://thmbns.co/WCGk http://thmbns.co/WCMf http://thmbns.co/WByT http://thmbns.co/WCTZ http://thmbns.co/WCcy

As you can see, Weblog (and all our themes running on Bean FW2.0+) are using the WP Theme Customizer to load options – instead of relying on a non-native platform.

You could set up different categories, for example – and customize the taxonomy pages furthermore if you’d like.

Hope this answers your questions. Cheers!

It says this for all 5 of those screenshot links:

“Sorry, no drops live here. Perhaps the link you clicked was broken or the owner of this drop has deleted it.”

Can you load them elsewhere?

ThemeBeans

Hey Wex! We’re you able to see those yet? I bet you had clicked them before they were 100% uploaded. Also, try using Chrome or Safari (just in case).

Hi, does it support RTL?

Default-user

seems not, thanks anyway

ThemeBeans

Hey Binghamdi, we do have a rtl.css stylesheet included in the theme files – but it covers the baseline. You’ll probably need to add in a few style modifications to make it look just right.

Cheers! Rich

hi, for some reason the mobile bar is not showing on my contact page… http://www.boudewijndanser.nl/contact/ (tested on my iPhone) Other pages do have the mobile nav bar.

Also when the for give an error it goes weird, placing of text + red warning box is wrong.

ThemeBeans

Hey mate! It looks like there’s a JS error coming from the page there, which is stopping the menu bar JS to activate properly. I see you’re currently using v2.0.4 (we’re currently on v2.3 – which is quite a few improvements) – would make troubleshooting a bit more difficult.

Here’s a downloadable copy of the current version’s contact template file – which may help, but I’m thinking there were a couple back-end functions that may not line up.

Rich

Hi there, I just purchased this theme and I’m loving it so far. I have a question regarding the blogroll. Is there anyway to remove the sidebar? It’s strange. I have a Blog page with sidebar page meta set to “Full width” but it still shows the sidebar. It seems the sidebar is part of the blogroll itself and not the Blog page. Which file would I have to edit to remove it? I hope this gets corrected in a future update so when the meta is set to ‘full-width’ it automatically disables the sidebar. :) Love the clean and ease of use of this template.

ThemeBeans

Hey Justin! The Weblog sidebar layout switcher works with the standard templates (Contact, Archives, Default) – but not with post or index views, as those pages pull completely different templates.

But, you could throw in index.php file in lieu of your version, and it should hide the sidebar effectively.

Then simply add this CSS to your stylesheet or Custom CSS Editor:

.post-thumb {
max-width: 100%!important;
}

Let me know how that goes! Rich

Default-user

Hey Rich! Thanks for the quick response! So I tried what you said and it worked but introduced another problem. Regular posts in the post/index pages appear fine, but posts with featured images blow up the image and don’t resize them down. Also, on the full post page it did the same issue (blowing up the image beyond the width of the page) and it has the sidebar overlayed on top of the image. I have screenshots I can send you if you don’t understand what I’m saying. Hope you can help! :)

ThemeBeans

I’m not quite following you 100% – do you mind copying this with your screenshots via our Help Center? Thanks!

Hi,

None of the demo links work in these comments section, can you provide a demo link for this theme please, just bought this theme and wanting content to tart editing.

Thanks

ThemeBeans

Ah I’ll check that out :)

For your second question, it’s difficult to see what’s going on without a URL. Do you mind contacting us via our Help Center? Thanks!

message just sent!

ThemeBeans

Awesome!

Nice theme. Planning to buy it soon. Few Questions before I move on.

1. Can I have Sidebar in single-page view of portfolio/work item. I could not see any in demo.

2. I want to create filters for portfolio/work section basing on custom fields. Will it work?

3. Are there any plugins built-in with this theme?

4. Does this theme has functionality to fix image sizes automatically? I mean if I upload a very large photo then will it adjust the sizes?

Thanks in advance.

ThemeBeans

Awesome – I’ll do my best to answer your questions :)

1. Not in it’s current setup. You would need to add in the sidebar code into single-portfolio.php.

2. I’m not following you 100% here. Do you mean like this here: http://thmbns.co/YDw2? If so, those are simply category filters that you can separate/filter your work with.

3. There’s a whole array of plugins that are compatible, available for download on our website.

    Bean Portfolio
    Bean Tweets
    Bean Shortcodes
    Bean Instagram
    Bean Social
    Bean Pricing Tables
    Bean 500px
    Bean Dribbble

4. Yup sure does!

Hope this helps! Rich
