Why doesn’t the average rating from within the featured posts sync with what is displayed on the home page? For example, average rating will show 2.5 stars within the post, but still display 5 stars on the homepage.

EugeneO

The review rating functionality is added via a third part plugin and the plugin is completely unedited in the theme.

Bare in mind that after rating a post the average rating on a post changes to display the rating you gave and not the average rating of all users.

If you are using a cache plugin this could also prevent the correct rating from being displayed.

The ad space does not center on page. Also the ad graphic displays a white line at the bottom of graphic. Can figure out if it’s the plugin or the template “Ad widget place-holder”.

EugeneO

If you are adding an image advertisement to the widget area and you want it centered you can either give the img tag a style attribute with margin: 0 auto; or add some CSS to a stylesheet that will center the image.

<img src="image.jpg" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" />

Thanks, I give that a try.

That worked, thanks!!

The right hand sidebar that stays floated up is distracting when dragging down on a post when viewing on ipad – anyway to disable this ‘stay up’ feature or make it smoother?

EugeneO

No there is no option to disable it. To remove it you would have to remove CSS and JS that sizes the sidebar.

Hi. At first: Great theme! I love it!

I’ve got a question. Is there any chance to get the footer as a widget area? I really like to put things out of my sidebar into the footer. There is now way in the widget menu.

EugeneO

No I have no plans to add a widget area into the footer.

Will there be a fix for the jittery sidebar on post pages? It seems to only happen in the Safari browsers, but it does get very distracting. Basically, when you scroll down the post window and the sidebar sticks it begins to shake up and down while you continue to scroll down the main post window. It just seems to draw your eyes’ attention away from the post content.

Also, is there any type of related posts support for post pages?

Finally, are there any more social networks to choose from for sharing posts, or is it just the 3 listed in the demo?

Thanks,

Matt

EugeneO

I’ll look into the sidebar but I don’t know if there is anything that can be done about it.

The related posts are in the sidebar.

There are only the three. You can easily use a plugin to allow sharing to other sites but they won’t appear in that same sidebar.

I second this question from Matt.

For the rest it is brilliant. How or where can I change it to NOT fixed sidebar? I would say that function is not needed at all. For the rest 10 stars out of 10 stars. Extra note : Brilliant theme.

EugeneO

I thought you were talking about the sidebar sizing, animation or loading new posts. You gave me absolutely no indication of what the issue was you were talking about. And then when I asked you about it you decided to talk down to me like I’m an idiot despite the fact I am trying to offer you support. I do not appreciate that at all.

EugeneO

Add this to a child theme stylesheet. It will be included in the main stylesheet of the next update.

.attachment .loaded img {
    -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=75)";
    zoom: 1;
    filter: alpha(opacity=75);
    opacity: 0.75;
}

.attachment .loaded img {
    -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=100)";
    zoom: 1;
    filter: alpha(opacity=100);
    opacity: 1;
}

No mate, I think you misread it. I think you are awesome.

Works like a charm. How about adding on the attachment page next and previous image? Mr. Eugene :bigsmile:

Anyway to remove the shadows from buttons?

EugeneO

Sorry I miss read your post. This is what you need:

.funky-button,
.funky-button:visited,
input[type="button"],
input[type="submit"],
button, button[type="submit"],
input[type="reset"],
input[type="file"],
.login-dropdown a { box-shadow: none !important; }

Keep the previous code I gave you if you also want to remove the box shadows from post tags.

Default-user

Still didn’t help. Specifically looking to remove the shadow from the comment “submit” button.

Sorry, placed code in wrong location. It worked, thanks!!!!

Nice work on the update EugeneO, appreciate the ongoing support.

EugeneO

No problem.

Hi EugeneO!

I have the infinite scroll disabled, so it appears “load more posts”. That works fine for me. Before de update, I could load more post as many times as I wanted until the very first post, but after de the update I can just load more post once.

Is this an issue of the update or is it something that I can fix?

Thanks!

EugeneO

The pagination was changed to the native WordPress function in the last update which changed the structure of the pagination.

I am uploading an update now. It should be available for you to download within a few hours.

Default-user

Great EugeneO, very good support! Cheers!

Default-user

Thank you, it works great. Great work, I really appreciate it.

HI EugeneO, I’m looking forward to purchase your theme but I have one small question stopping me. Do you have in your plans to incorporate the infinite scroll option like you have on grid home page template, but on the Home (traditional view) instead of loading /latest like you have now.

Thank you for your time! :-)

EugeneO

No there are no plans for that.

I’m sorry it was my misunderstanding.

Quick question: can ads (e.g. 300×250, etc.) be added to the home grid layout?

EugeneO

No there are not any widget areas on the Home Grid template.

How do I make my logo (png) turn white on mouseOver with dark back selected? I tried the light option under theme settings but that doesn’t seem to work.

EugeneO

There currently is no way of changing a image logo on hover.

hello, i am using the plugin Event Manager http://wordpress.org/plugins/events-manager/

im need to add the “events” as posts, in the plugin support they told me that using this code it works, and effectivey it works in twety twelve theme, but not in wirepress, could you help me please?

add_filter( ‘pre_get_posts’, ‘my_get_posts’ ); function my_get_posts( $query ) { if ( is_home() && false == $query->query_vars[‘suppress_filters’] ) $query->set( ‘post_type’, array( ‘post’, ‘event’ ) ); return $query; }

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-events-manager-show-events-as-regular-posts-articles?replies=41
EugeneO

Which page are you trying to output the event post type on? The code you are trying will only work on the latest posts page (Settings > Reading, then which ever page you have set as Latest Posts Page):

http://themes.eugeneo.com/wirepress/latest/

Because the code you are using is first checking that you are on the blog page:

if ( is_home() ...

The two home page templates in the theme use custom loops.

http://themes.eugeneo.com/wirepress/ http://themes.eugeneo.com/wirepress/home-grid/

To output the events post type along with regular posts you could modify the WordPress query parameters in the template files.

For example from page-home-grid.php:
$query_args = array(
    'post_type' => array( 'post', 'event' ),
    'ignore_sticky_posts' => 1,
    'paged' => $paged
);

Note that page-home-traditional.php has several loops and the post type would need to be added to all of them.

Hi!

It’s the first time that I’m using Wordpress, and working on a website myself, so maybe these are silly questions.

So far the website is looking and working great. Now there’s a company who wants to put a banner in the website and I have a few questions:

1. Is it possible to put a banner at the top of the homepage with the grid template. If so, what is the size?

2. I have the same question about the size regarding the post banner ad space, and the latest posts sidebar ad space.

Sorry if it has been answered before, but I couldn’t find it.

Thanks in advance!

EugeneO

1.) There is no advertising widget area on the Home Grid template so it is not possible to add a banner to the top of that page through the theme. It could be done by editing the templates but I cannot provide the code to do that.

2.) The images can be any dimension as you can make their widths responsive by adding style="height:auto;max-width:100%;" to the advertising image code.

<img src="http://www.example.com/image.jpg" alt="Advertisment" style="height:auto; max-width:100%;" />

You can see the image sizes I have used on this page: http://themes.eugeneo.com/wirepress/2013/09/09/quid-autem-habent-admirationis-cim-prope-accesseris/

Thanks!!

Hi, EugeneO.

First off, great work. That should go unsaid.

I just needed some information on two things, if you would be so kind as to let me know.

1) Will there be a gallery post type available, which will act as an auto slider on the homepage (grid)?

2) Can I have a page with only a specific category’s post available in the homepage (grid) layout? (ie. have posts in category ‘Tech’ display in grid-style on a page)

Let me know.

Thanks once again. Keep up the good work!

CODEPHENOM

In the renamed grid.php file in the child theme, I found this code:

 $query_args = array(
        'post_type' => array( 'post' ),
        'ignore_sticky_posts' => 1,
        'paged' => $paged

    );

Should I edit the code like this? :

$query_args = array(
        'post_type' => array( 'post' ),
        'ignore_sticky_posts' => 1,
        'paged' => $paged
                new WP_Query( 'category__in=4' );
    );
EugeneO
$query_args = array(
        'post_type' => array( 'post' ),
        'ignore_sticky_posts' => 1,
        'paged' => $paged,
        cat => 4 // or whatever the ID of the category you want to show is.
 );

Thanks!

Hi EugeneO,

Just wondering if there is any way to fix the flickering menu if you hover over the navigation during load. I have my site running completely as I would like except this detail. Do you expect to be able to address this in an update? If not, which files (and which parts of files) should I ask a developer to look at to fix? Thanks!

EugeneO

I’ve adjusted some code to hopefully fix the navigation bug. I’ll upload the update today.

InternetBoutique

Fantastic, many thanks.

InternetBoutique

Just downloaded and installed the update. Working like a charm now, way cleaner. Much appreciated.

Hi, question:

How can I reduce the huge space between the header menu and blog content in a blog post?

http://i.imgur.com/gxCO7o9.png

Thanks.

EugeneO

That is the featured blog post template. The gap is supposed to be there so that the background image is visible,

If you want to remove it reduce or remove the top margin of .feature-post-title.
