Hi Parker

Menu is now showing. I’ll be around for most of the day today if it’s possible to run through the next few steps.

Many thanks

Dan

ParkerAndKent

Hi Dan,

ok. I see some problems with the menu, not sure how you have set it. Send me a message through the contact form on my profile page with your admin login, so I can make some basic settings for you… probably you don’t have a huge experience with WordPress, so I need to check some settings in your admin.

Cheers,

Parker

Hi Dan,

Hi,

ok, the site is correctly set. Now each news post you will add will be visible in the home and each product post will go in the Sample Menu. Everythime you create a new post, just remember to check the PK Options panel below the editor, it is for the available options you can set.

For the contact section you need to use the Contact Form 7 plugin, check the PK Theme Help admin page in the Important Notes section.

Hi ParkerAndKent,

I was looking to buy this theme and wanted to know if any ecommerce plugins such as Cart66 can be incorporated into the theme without any loss of functionality?

Please advice ASAP . Slightly URGENT !

Thanks

Hafeez

ParkerAndKent

Hi Hafeez,

I’m sorry, but this theme isn’t ready for any ecommerce plugin. Depending on the plugin you use, therr would be less or more work to integrate it in the theme structure… so nothing ready to go.

I see numerous business theme options here especially Fitness, Spa, Salon deployment. Will purchase this when I get the opportunity from a client demand. Well done and congrats to P&K.

Hi, I’d like to change background images for each page, But it doesn’t work. Now the background is stuck on the PK background. I couldn’t change any. help!!

Hi,

can you provide a link to your theme? What have you done to set a background to each page?

ParkerAndKent

Hi,

I checked your site and seems that you still have the “example” image as background for most of your pages:

http://foodme.parkerandkent.com/foodme/wp-content/uploadz/2011/10/m_04.jpg

See the example bg image used here:

http://ss157.cafe24.com/products_category/bouquets/

Now, to set a bg image for each page, in your WP admin go to Pages, select and edit each page and below the page editor, in the PK Options panel, enter the URL of the bg image in the Background Image option.

Then, save the page and check if the bg is applied.

It works now! thanks. :-)

but product category pages…

do i need to set each product’s background img?

and another question. I want to change the color of navigation font color. when it’s on mouse over , down etc..

How can I?

Thank you for your quick progress.

ParkerAndKent

Hi,

you can set a general bg image for the products main archive and categories (one for all, not for each category) in the PK Options -> Skin Options. So, the image set will be visible when browsing any products category… this must be a generic background.

You can set a specific bg image to each product, blog post, etc… exactly as you did for the pages. If you don’t set specific ones to each product, they will display the general image you set for the product categories.

To edit the main menu links colors, in the PK Options -> General Options scroll down to the Custom CSS field and enter:

body nav a{ color:#afb3be; }

body nav a:hover{ color:#ffffff; }

Change the color codes to your needs and save the options to update.

Hi Parker,

Sorry to bother you again, but I need some help again. Recently whenever a menu page is updated, all of the products disappear: http://roostertailsf.com/menu/ . It should look more like: http://roostertailsf.com/menu/drinks/

I’m trying to figure out what change could have caused this. I don’t know if our client may have updated the theme. Have you encountered this before?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Nathan,

be sure that in the PK Options -> General Options the Menu page is set as main products page.

Hi Parker,

That would work except that I had a custom header and sidebar which don’t show up when the Menu page is set as the main products page. I had set up a workaround, which seems to have stopped working recently. Unfortunately, it was a while ago and I don’t remember exactly what I did…

Nathan

ParkerAndKent

Hi,

tell me in detail exactly what you need (header and custom sidebar) and I’ll see if I can suggest you a good solution ;)

Thanks Parker. Here is how the page should look: http://roostertailsf.com/menu/sandwiches/

You can see the navigation header with a selection of product categories which uses this code:

<h6><a title="MENU" href="http://roostertailsf.com/menu">All</a>??/??<a title="CHICKEN" href="http://roostertailsf.com/chicken/">Chicken</a>??/??<a title="NOT CHICKEN" href="http://roostertailsf.com/not-chicken/">Not Chicken</a>??/??<a title="SALADS" href="http://roostertailsf.com/salads/">Salads</a>??/??<a title="SIDES" href="http://roostertailsf.com/sides/">Sides</a>??/??<a title="SEASONAL" href="http://roostertailsf.com/seasonal">Seasonal</a>??/??<a title="DRINKS" href="http://roostertailsf.com/drinks">Drinks</a>??/??<a title="SWEETS" href="http://roostertailsf.com/sweets">Sweets</a></h6>

The sidebar uses a widgetized space with some code:

<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function MM_swapImgRestore() { //v3.0
  var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i<a.length x.src="x.oSrc;" mm_preloadimages="" var="" d="document;" if="" d.mm_p="new" array="" i="" for="" image="" mm_findobj="" p="">0&&parent.frames.length) {
    d=parent.frames[n.substring(p+1)].document; n=n.substring(0,p);}
  if(!(x=d[n])&&d.all) x=d.all[n]; for (i=0;!x&&i<d.forms.length;i++) x=d.forms[i][n];
  for(i=0;!x&&d.layers&&i<d.layers.length;i++) x=MM_findObj(n,d.layers[i].document);
  if(!x && d.getElementById) x=d.getElementById(n); return x;
}

function MM_swapImage() { //v3.0
  var i,j=0,x,a=MM_swapImage.arguments; document.MM_sr=new Array; for(i=0;i<(a.length-2);i+=3)
   if ((x=MM_findObj(a[i]))!=null){document.MM_sr[j++]=x; if(!x.oSrc) x.oSrc=x.src; x.src=a[i+2];}
}
//-->
</script>
</head>

<p><a href="/menu/sandwiches" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Sandwiches','','http://roostertailsf.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/sandwiches_hover.png',1)"><img src="http://roostertailsf.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/sandwiches.png" alt="Try our sandwiches" name="Sandwiches" width="180" height="96" border="0" id="Sandwiches" /></a><a href="/menu/drinks" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Ontap','','http://roostertailsf.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/ontap_hover.png',1)"><img src="http://roostertailsf.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/ontap.png" alt="Beer, wine and root beer on tap" name="Ontap" width="180" height="211" border="0" id="Ontap" /></a></p>
</a.length>

All of this works fine until I try to update the page, then everything except for the title and sidebar disappears.

Thanks for your help!

ParkerAndKent

Hi… mmm… your code seems a mess that I don’t really understand… why don’t you simply use the built in categories filter of product categories and the dedicated products sidebar to show those images?

Parker

This is definitely in the right direction! I guess I didn’t know this was an option before. Is there a way to restrict which categories appear in the header?

ParkerAndKent

Hi,

glad that works for you… the filter shows all the product categories, but woldn’t be hard to exclude some. Which are your needs? How many categories you want to exclude and why?

Just to understand and give you the help in the right direction.

Hi Parker,

The categories we need are: ALL /CHICKEN/NOT CHICKEN /SALAD/SEASONAL/SIDES/SWEETS/DRINKS

Some of the categories (like sandwiches) have redundant items. These lists can be accessed through ‘ads’ like the ‘try our sandwiches’ sidebar. In total there are four items we want to omit.

Is there a simple way to arrange them in this order as well?

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

Could you tell me what the problem is ?

Hi,

yes, that’s a warning that I should have fixed with the latest version of the theme. Nothing bad, just a missing array index.

Hi,

But I have a proble with the greek character ?. It does not appear in post title. check the below link http://foodspotting.gr/blog/%CF%80%CF%81%CF%8E%CF%84%CE%B7-%CE%BA%CF%81%CE%B9%CF%84%CE%B9%CE%BA%CE%AE/

Hi,

yes, Greek requires a font that supports its special characters. I’ll let you know asap, right now I’m out, so I need to check the files to give you instructions.

ParkerAndKent

Hi,

ok, basically you need to select a google font that support greek. Go here and select the one you like more: http://www.google.com/webfonts

You can select the fonts that support greek on the left sidebar for an easier consultation.

Once you’ve chosen the one you like, tell me which one it is and i’ll tell you what to do ;)

Thanks for your answer.

Lets try the font GFS Didot Normal 400.

thanks in advance

ParkerAndKent

Hi,

ok, open the parkerandkent2011/css/theme/pk/pk_style.css file and add this line after line 12:

@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=GFS+Didot);

Then at line 92:

#pk_intro p{ font-family:"Nunito", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-weight:400; }

change Nunito with the new font family, so the new line will be this one:

#pk_intro p{ font-family:"GFS Didot", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-weight:400; }

Then, open the parkerandkent2011/*js/theme/pk/pk_frontend.js file and at line 9:

var googleFont = 'Nunito';

change ‘Nunito’ again:

var googleFont = 'GFS Didot';

Save and update the files on your server.

Hello, I’m having problems with shortcodes images. Shortcodes images not showing. I’d checked all the help points but still having the same problem: - Path url are ok, - permisions are ok - GD library is enabled in my server - images are ok because the problem is the same with demo content. - mod_security isn’t enabled in my server

But in the shortcode demo content images are not showing: http://www.pasteleria-nunos.es/wp/shortcodes/images/

What can i do?

Hi,

as you can see here: http://www.pasteleria-nunos.es/wp/wp-content/themes/pk2011_foodme/timthumb/timthumb.php you have a server misconfiguration.

I’m sorry…I want to rephrase. Is there a way to order the categories for the products in an arbitrary manner. For example, I want to display the days Sunday through Saturday in order. How can I do that?

Thank you.

ParkerAndKent

Hi,

maybe if you have created the categories in order I can see if we can solve this by ordering by date of creation. Do you get what I mean?

Parker

I can delete the categories and recreate them in the order I like. I understand. What php code do i have to modify and what file is it in? Thank you.

ParkerAndKent

Hi,

in the main theme folder open the header.php file and go to line 268:

$pk_categories = get_categories(array('hierarchical' => false, 'taxonomy' => 'taxonomy_products'));

and change that part of code to this one:

$pk_categories = get_categories(array('hierarchical' => false, 'taxonomy' => 'taxonomy_products', 'orderby' => 'date', 'order' => 'ASC'));

I’ve added this part:

, 'orderby' => 'date', 'order' => 'ASC'

Once you make the change save and update the file on your server.

Let me know ;)

Parker

Parker,

That didn’t work. I even tried changing the orderby to ‘tag_ID’ and ‘time’ and still it seems to be doing it alphabetically.

Any other ideas? My client needs this tomorrow! I appreciate your effort and I apologize for the time squeeze.

ParkerAndKent

Hi,

my mistake. Date isn’t supported for taxonomies. Replace ‘date’ with ‘id’. You can use ‘asc’ or ‘desc’ as order parameter.
