Hi there, i try to look at your sample shops but it loads forever. However i want to use this as Mobile Website ONLY and create a delivery service mobile site. you said it is compatible with woocommerce…. but also with THEIR Extensions??? I mean if i want to use credit cart checkout i need to install Authorize.net extension of woothemes… so it will still work?

In short: i need a standalone mobile template with creditcart checkout and ordering system…

realdesigns

Hi there,

I’ve just tested the sample shops and they are loading immediately. Please try again.

To answer your question you can use WOW! as a separate mobile site with WooCommerce, not a problem. And you can use their extensions.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for your respond. One last: i plan to use it for a food delivery service. Is it possible to add a Menu with ingredients to any item you choose before adding it to the cart? (ie: Pizza = Main Item, Salad and drink = ingredients)

realdesigns

Of course. WooCommerce can do this no problem. Have a look at the plugin it’s very powerful.

” Have a look at the plugin it’s very powerful.” = which one you mean?

WooCommerce http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/ Check out what it can do and whether WooCommerce meets your requirements.

Hi, Looking at purchasing this template to use alongside my existing desktop website. Is it possible to copy existing pages from my desktop site to Wow mysite?

realdesigns

Hi,

Yes, you can use your existing data from your desktop website or create new data for your mobile website, it’s up to you.

So i need the code to disable w3 total cache from caching wow mysite (something like a cookie code for wow mysite). eg: (amts_mobile_theme) – mobile theme from any mobile theme switcher guys or (wptouch_switch_toggle) – wp touch theme

Hi Realdesigns Just purchased and must say… GREAT GREAT!! Just 2 things i would like to ask you. 1: Where or how can i change the Title Tab “Find out more?” to something else? 2: How can I make it to have a Tab at the hompage that says “Order Delivery” and then it goes to the form where they can leave zip code and address? I try to make it similar to this https://order.papajohns.com/mobile/index.rmw?site=RMW&utm_source=WEB&utm_medium=orderpages&utm_campaign=experiencechange#start

Please could you help me with those 2 things

realdesigns

Hi there,

Many thanks for purchasing. I’m glad you are finding it useful.

1) You can change find out more the file calltoaction.php. 2) I’m not sure why you want to do this. When a customer makes an order they would provide their address then?

Rd

Default-user

“I’m not sure why you want to do this.” OK Let’s say you have a pizza shop in any village in dallas…. and you only deliver in a radius of 10 miles. If somebody orders a pizza in the neighbor village that is 20 miles, how can i tell them that i am not able to deliver over there????

realdesigns

I see what you mean. You can add a button to your homepage in the form of a shortcode which is labelled delivery. Create a page called home and in the content editor include the button. Does this make sense?

Default-user

Thanks a lot… allow me another question. Instead of a featured image on the Homepage i would like to have a video on that position. How can i do that?

Hi. I followed your instructions 2.0 exactly and for some reason when I look at the site on my phone, it does not redirect to the sub-folder/mobile site. Can you take a look at it? I pasted the header.php code, the functions.php code and copied the Mobile_Detect.php file to the root. Not sure why it doesn’t redirect to the mobile site.

Desktop site: http://pizzaonpearl.com/

Mobile site: http://pizzaonpearl.com/mobile/

Thanks!

realdesigns

Hi

Please can you tell me a little more about your setup?

Thanks.

Default-user

Full WP installation for http://pizzaonpearl.com/ (desktop site).

And full WP installation for http://pizzaonpearl.com/mobile/ where your theme is installed. I just need people who view the desktop site on their phone to be directed to the mobile site. Thanks.

realdesigns

Hi,

So you have 2 separate installations of WP?

Rd

Default-user

Yes I do.

realdesigns

Hi,

Someone else has had the same problem. I will update the user guide by the weekend to provide a new solution. In the meantime can you please use this plugin for redirection:

http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mobile-detect/

Many thanks,

Rd

Default-user

So I installed WP Mobile Detect and the desktop website gave this error: “Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Mobile_Detect in …/public_html/pizzaonpearl.com/Mobile_Detect.php on line 9” ?

realdesigns

I’ll take a look at this this eve and get back to you.

Rd

realdesigns

Hello,

So, I have updated the script for mobile detection. I will update the user guide by the weekend.

Please put this script at the top of functions.php of your desktop website:

<?php
// Include script
include('Mobile_Detect.php');
// Create detection object
$detect = new Mobile_Detect;
// Redirect if mobile detected
if ($detect->isMobile() && !$detect->isTablet() && !$_SESSION['mobileoptout'])
{
header('Location: http://www.google.com', true, 301);
$_SESSION['mobileoptout'] = true;
}
?>
<?php
/**
* init_sessions()
*
* @uses session_id()
* @uses session_start()
*/
function init_sessions() {
if (!session_id()) {
session_start();
}
}
add_action('init', 'init_sessions');
?>

Then add Mobile_Detect.php to the root of your server. You will find this file within this download:

https://github.com/serbanghita/Mobile-Detect/tags (Select the newest ZIP for your download)

Unzip it, find Mobile_Detect.php and upload this to the root of your server. If you have installed WordPress in a directory other than the root of your server add this file to this directory.

Let me know how it goes and please make a backup of your theme files and database before you do anything!

Rd

Default-user

Here are the steps I took:

1) Updated top of functions.php in my theme folder of desktop site with code above. 2) Downloaded Mobile_Detect.php (v2.6.9) and uploaded to root directory of desktop site. 3) This is the error I get when opening pizzaonpearl.com on my phone:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare init_sessions() (previously declared in ../public_html/pizzaonpearl.com/wp-content/themes/u-design/functions.php:21) in ../public_html/pizzaonpearl.com/wp-content/themes/u-design/functions.php on line 49

realdesigns

Remove the int_sessions code block from the code I supplied and retry please.

Rd

Default-user

Hi Rd, I removed the ‘int_sessions’ code block and now it does not redirect at all. It simply just shows the desktop theme when viewing from a phone and does not redirect to /mobile/.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Default-user

Success! I went ahead and deleted everything and started over from the beginning (using your whole code above) and the site now redirects to the mobile site! I’m going to continue testing today on a few different phones (droid and apple). Thanks Rd!

Default-user

Ok, I just found a glitch.. None of the pages on the desktop theme are working. When I click on any of them (about, menu, etc) it gives this error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Mobile_Detect in ../public_html/pizzaonpearl.com/wp-content/themes/u-design/Mobile_Detect.php on line 36

realdesigns

Hi,

Can you contact the u-design team please to see if they have seen this problem before please?

Rd,

Just wanted to let you know, I found a very very simple solution to redirecting to the mobile site for phones/tablets.

I found this free pluggin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-mobile-url-redirect/installation/

Took less then a minute to get working. Anyway, thanks again for all your help! Much appreciated.

Hi Realdesigns

I am struggling to get your theme working properly.

What I lack is the ability to add a widget to just my homepage, and not all the other pages. I see there is an area called widgetized-page-home and another called widgetized-page-bottom. Till now I have only been able to get the second to work, with no obvious results for the second (the widget doesn’t show at all).

I am sure there is something simple I am not doing, so could you please tell me what it is…

hi thanks for getting back to me actually what I want to do is this: http://sunshinehotels.mobi/ you will see I have hidden the header and footer using the css. The problem is when I load into a mobile app as a webpage is uses an iframe and so still shows the header and footer. What i need to do is remove the head and footer (as sample) using the php code and that is a bit beyond me. Any ideas.

Okay I see. I’ll email you tomorrow. Off to bed now.

Rd

realdesigns

Hi,

The footer is easy to remove.

Open footer.php from your template files and remove:

<footer id="footer" class='"shadow">...</footer>

For the header remove this from header.php:

    /** Logo positioning on page
    * Display below main navigation [Default]
    * or display at the top left of the page
    */
    if($options['wps_logo_positioning'] == 'default' ) {
        // Include logo-default.php
        get_template_part('logo-default');
    }else if($options['wps_logo_positioning'] == 'topleft')  {
        // Include logo-top-left.php
        get_template_part('logo-top-left');
    }
?>

Make a backup of your files first please.

Hi just purchased and excited to get started. Just wanted to see if it made any difference in how to set up wow (2 instances or side by side), with regards to the the merging of information with the desktop and mobile sites, or any other benefit for one or the other.

Thx.

Hi there,

I’ll email you in a couple of hours. Sorry for the delay.

Rd

Hi,

I would set this up with one installation of WordPress. Use WOW! to pull in your existing data from your desktop theme to avoid any duplication of data. You can then create additional pages for your mobile theme and add these to the WOW! navigation.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi there,

Nothing is labeled running the 2 word press sites side by side. Can I use the 2 separate word press websites instructions?

Hi I had an issue when populating the demo info on wow and all my current website info was wiped out and could not be retrieved. My hosting company had toreset my account Which they usually charge a sizeable fee for, but they waived it. I really wanted this product to work for me since it is woo compatible but am leary to try again. Do you know what could have happened and of it is worth trying again?

realdesigns

Hi,

sorry to hear about your problem.

If you use the one click installation it will override your database. You should only use this on a new installation of Wordpress NOT when you have one installation with your desktop website and wow as your mobile theme. Also remember to always make a backup.

You can get your two websites to work side by side on a single installation of Wordpress and using theme switching which is determined by the users device be it desktop or mobile device.

This is what I would do:

Reinstate your desktop website.

Set up wow Mysite by adding pages. Then add these pages to your wow menu which you will name bpmainmenu.

If there are posts that you would like to share with wow! you can do this by giving the posts an additional category called news. Wow will then use these posts as well as your desktop website.

I will update the user guide over the next week to help with setting your website up. The guide is already comprehensive but I happy to add more information to help out.

When you have set this up properly I’m sure you will be happy with the results.

question 2, forgot to add above. I have an image slider actually the widget that I want to move to the top of the screen, that have some buttons on it. the some reason on the mobile version they are not displaying, only the code behind them shows, any ideas?

Slider currently on bottom, if you look up full site, you see the buttons with have links, they’re mostly yellow and round. You will then understand what I mean.

I think I removed the widget area at the top of the page. Would you like me to add it back in? Also what is your website address?

realdesigns

Hi,

I have looked at your mobile website and you haven’t set up your website properly. In WordPress admin your frontpage should be set to display your latest posts. Can you change this please? Now you will need to set your desktop website frontpage like this

Add the following to both your desktop functions.php and your mobile functions.php.

1. In the mobile theme functions.php file you will need to add update_option( ‘show_on_front’, ‘posts ’ );

This will set index.php as your mobile theme’s homepage.

Now to change the homepage of your desktop theme to what you want.

2. In your desktop theme functions.php file you will have to add $about = get_page_by_title( ‘about’ ); update_option( ‘page_on_front’, $about->ID ); update_option( ‘show_on_front’, ‘page’ );

‘about’ will be the page name that you are using as the homepage for your desktop theme.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

First can I say your customer support is stellar and I will definitely shop your products and recommend them!

I do have the wow front page set to new posts per instructions (I haven’t started posting anything yet if that might be it.) Also I think that you forgot to include code in your last response.

I also notice that the widgets do not appear when set to desktop website, but it could all be connected.

Here is how I set up front page in wow:

In this tab you can select whether to display Find out more and associated quick contact buttons on the homepage. You can also decide whether to display or hide Latest news posts and the number of posts. Click the Save Options button to commit your changes.

realdesigns

Hi there,

Thank you for your kind words. The widgets will only show when you have activated your mobile website. Have you created a page called home? You will need to do this please. Index.php will then use this page.

Also am I able to have separate content for mobile and desktop for this theme?
