Hey there. I love this theme and have 3 more questions regarding display:

- The Sidebar section seems to be higher then the post section by a couple of pixels (please follow the URL http://www.arkyacht.com) Is this something to be fixed on my end or yours?

- I added a Text widget in the sidebar and the images in the widget have a white border despite specifying “no border”. In the couple of blogs I read, this needs to be chnaged in the style sheet. Any chance you can help me with this?

- The business owner will hire a professional photographer for the images on the site. It seems like the automatic adjustments tend to center and cut separately for each picture. Can you recommend a pixel_x_pixel image size as a default?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

It looks like you’ve modified the sidebar, so I can’t really say why its shifting.

Any images by default will get the border, padding and background-color, you’ll need to specify this in the stylesheet and target those images in your text widget with the following styles:

background: none; padding: 0; border: none;

You can upload the images at the max size they’ll display which is 590px × 300px

I have a quick question.. on your live preview.. home page>>view project. Those images are 596px × 400px – how are you achieving this? I am uploading them at that size, but on my page they get scaled down.

I don’t know if this didn’t download right or not, but it looks nothing like the preview.

Hey there,

Loving your theme. Have made some modifications, and am getting close to launching my site. Wondering about the duration of the slider images?

I found a duration value within slider.html and 2 duration values within jquery.flow.init.js… but I changed them all to 1200 and am not seeing the slider images staying up any longer? Am I missing something? Can you point me in the right direction? (I cleared my cache a few times and am still seeing the images for about 5 seconds instead of 12?)

Thanks, theRizz

Ok I figured out all I need. I really enjoy this theme. However, I have one question. Is it at all possible to remove the jquery image scroller from within the blog pages only? If there was a way… even if it requires me to edit some files extensivly, it would be well worth it.

You’ll need to make your changes in jquery.flow.init.js, you can have one of the three predefined speeds (“slow”, “normal”, or “fast”) or the number of milliseconds to run the animation (e.g. 1000).

This is possible, you’ll need to make the modifications in single.php

Thanks. Got it. I’m not sure if this has been pointed out yet, but when using the google analytics box within the paramount customization area, it seems to add in a / before all ” when the page is rendered… just an FYI

I added the code to the footer.php and its all good.

Hey there, I found what caused the problem with my sidebar shifting up. I added a few main pages on the NAV bar and the last one used to be ‘Contact Us’ which caused the NAV bar go over the limit and placed the cell under the Home button. Under this scenario, the sidebar was aligned.

However when I correct the field to “Contact”, the NAV bar perfectly fits but now the sidebar is pulled up. So basically, it was not an issue with modifying the sidebar.

Can you please help me with this? Thanks!

Not really sure what’s going on, it could possibly be something that you’ve modified in the CSS . I can’t really help to much because the problem is related to the theme being modified, hope you understand.

But I have not modified the theme or PSD files at all. The widget additions in the sidebar should nto be considered as modifications to the theme – right? I just added Main pages which go to the NAV bar and shortened the name of the last one after it went under the ‘Home’ link.

The weird thing is when I change it to “Contact Us” (which goes above character limitation) and it goes under the Home link, the sidebar is pushed back to level with the main content area.

Just updated it for your review. We can further communicate via email if you prefer.

All I can really say is “out of the box” the sidebar is in the right area, so there must be something that you’ve added that’s affecting it. Maybe the widgets that you’ve added, I’m not sure.

I have to admit, I’ve been working with this theme for the past month or so… and though the features are extensive, the craftsmanship is not quite hitting the mark. I’ve been creating work-arounds for the the lack of gallery options and have finally given up. The Portfolio and Single Post slider galleries are a fixed number that you CAN control, but the changes apply to every post in that category… some of my entries need to feature three photos, some eight. Presentation should be more organic but once you start digging around, the package is VERY LIMITING .

I really wanted to love this theme, and really hope the updated version will be available to buyers at no cost. The design is simple, and very well done, but the functionality needs to be a bit more accommodating.

Any updates to the theme will be free.

You can have just one image on a post, then two on another, and four on another. You would just need to add multiple if statements to the single.php, although this would take a little bit of PHP knowledge.

Default-user

That’s awesome to hear that that the updates will be included. This piece has a LOT of potential; though as an interface designer who doesn’t write PHP , I am hoping to find a cms/blog theme that doesn’t require additional customization to achieve basic functions.

Thanks so much for such a prompt response. Do you have a sign-up or rss feed that I can use to be notified of updates?

is it possible to have a sub nav in the portfolio section?

contempoinc

Yes, would need to modify the single.php template to include this or the sidebar and use the Conditional Tags

Great theme! I’ve purchased a few theme’s here and this is really well done above standard forsure! very simple for a non-coder like me:)

however the I have the same request as a few others; If the posts where able to auto detect how many photos where linked in or be able to select from a predefined amount (1-4 or something) on a per post basis, this would be great, it’s hard to have the same standard amount of photos per post across the board.

can you add this feature for us?

thanks again for a grade A theme, it’s perfect

Thanks, I’ll keep this in mind for future updates.

Hi there,

I purchased your lovely theme for my magazine, thank you! Two questions: how do you handle vertical pics in the sliders and in the posts? And what is the size of photo should I be putting into the wordpress media library. Your documentation says that I can put in any size and the theme will handle the rest, but in nearly every case, my vertical images are getting cropped strangely. I need to use vertical images a lot, because I am showing magazine covers and pages.

Thanks for your help… You can go here if you want to see what I mean: http://cosmetics.razorwirecommunications.com/

Love the colour scheme by the way, I am not going to change much at all!

Thanks for your purchase. The images will get cropped and resized to 350×258 for regular posts and 596×400 for portfolio posts. These sizes can be changed to whatever you’d like by modifying the image code in single.php as well as modifying the height of the slider in style.css

Thanks for the fast reply! I am wondering if you could customize the theme slightly for me? I’d rather you do it, than me try to and risk destroying something beautiful. ;) I will of course pay you for your help.

Hi, I would love to help but at the moment I’m booked up with a ton of work and can’t take on anymore projects for awhile.

Similar to sheyrakelley’s issue, for me some posts, like Web Designs, I might have 4 or 5 images, and Logo posts might only need 2 or 3. You mentioned this can be done by adding additional if statements to single.php… Can you expand on that?

I notice on your demo that the portfolio post slideshows do not identify which image they are on… if it is on image 2 then the #2 should be in red just as the home page & blog slideshows work. Can you fix this?

Also… how hard would it be to add a sidebar Twitter widget styled just like the About Me & Flickr?

Thanks

contempoinc

Its a little difficult to explain the extra images, the explaination provided before is about the best I can do since its a customization request.

The images are using jcycle a plugin for jQuery and I don’t believe it currently has that functionality.

You would need to use a plugin to add a Twitter widget.

Just purchased this and I found three problems: 1. Your Sidebar style screws up twitter widget plugin and makes it all into one long paragraph rather than spacing out tweets.

2. Your Default page code works poorly with the very popular Contact Form 7. It functions, but scrambles the alignment of text and fields… no order.

3. Lastly, I think you misunderstood me before so I will try to explain again… If you go to the Homepage or a Blog (not portfolio) post and look at the slideshow. Notice when it scrolls through each slide the numbers change to red to show which slide you are on. If you go to the Portfolio posts and look at any of those slideshows (including your demo) the numbers are never red.

If you still don’t understand I can send you screenshots.

Thanks!

1. There’s a reset in the stylesheet, so if the Twitter widget spits out a ul all them will be set to padding/margin of 0 so you’ll need to add some styling.

2. Theres generic styling for form fields etc., you can go into the stylesheet and make these styles specific so they won’t affect the contact forms 7.

3. It looks like its possibly an issue with the jQuery plugin since both of those sliders are located within single.php, I’m not entirely sure.

Can you at least figure out what the jQuery plugin problem is? This is a glitch in your product, which I purchased. The other issues I can fix, but I feel you should resolve this one. Thx

contempoinc

I’ll look into it, but it’s most likely a glitch with the jCycle plugin for jQuery which I didn’t create.

I have been using this theme for a few months now, and it is great but I recently upgraded to the newest version of wordpress and the category I chose for the portfolio and blog section is gone from the nav bar and it just says no categories, even though I have several categories established. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

John

You’ll just need to download the latest version of theme, and you’ll be all set.

Hello,

Please explain how the process is suppose to work, when I create a new blog post using your Paramount Template? When and how are any images associated with that blog post suppose to then appear in the jQuery slider, using this template? I am suppose to point to the image that fills in the slider frame, by using the image url, or should the image automatically populate into a frame, once a new post is created, in which I’ve uploaded and image?

Also, is there a “create a new post” difference between the content you have on your live demo, for the “blog” and the “portfolio” page? Meaning, are these two categories built into the template by you? Or is it just a matter of how the post is created on my part, and then assigned to that particular page category? Because I see that the layout and subsequent images look different between your “blog” and “portfolio” pages—in your live demo.

Please advise.

Thank you!

contempoinc

Please read through the Getting Started section of the help files it explains the process, basically all you need to do is create a Featured category and assign whatever post to it and they’ll appear on the homepage slider.
