Having difficulty with Listings and Google maps. I enter the city and zip code, and the Google map that appears is wildly inaccurate usually after entering 2 or 3 listings in a row. What’s going on here?
Also, would like the ability to pinpoint the address in Google maps – that is, add the street to the city and zip code to show exactly where the property is. Can I do this?
THANKS for your help!
Carol
You need to use the Post title for your full street address, as seen in the demo. You also have the option to use lat/long coordinates.
Sorted both of these out myself – The street name needs to appear as the listing title for the Google map to appear correctly and precisely.
Is it possible to replace the “Large Welcome Text” on the home page with a an image?
Yes, but you would need to jump into index.php and modify the code.
What would be the code I would need to enter?
You would need to replace lines 4-6 in index.php with your hardcoded
Is it possible to remove the headings “Bed” and “Bath” from the listing when there is nothing entered for these values? (You won’t have beds or baths for a lot or a business opportunity, for example…)
THANKS again,
Carol
I am receiving the following error when installing:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/content/b/d/i/bdid49/html/wp-content/themes/realestate_2/admin/query-taxonomies/scb/load.php on line 12
can you please let me know what to do to fix? thanks
Haven’t had anyone else experience this, are you uploading the theme via FTP or are you installing through the admin? Do you have any plugins enabled?
Thanks for the response…. I’ve installed theme through both FTP and the WP user interface. Both are giving the same error. I do have previous plugins installed as this is a theme replacing the previous theme. Would you recommend de-activating all plugins prior to installing?
Definitely would recommend deactivating them and re-installing.
I not only deactivated all plugins, but completely wiped out all of my content and did a fresh install of wordpress.
I am still getting the error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/content/b/d/i/bdid49/html/wp-content/themes/realestate_2/admin/query-taxonomies/scb/load.php on line 12
you can see it on www.vegasvacationcondo.com
I’m hosting through godaddy. would that have anything to do with it? Any other ideas?
I just got off the phone with GoDaddy and they said that each host serves up themes differently. They said that this theme has a double-quote issue going on in the PHP file referenced in the error that’s causing the problem. Would you please take a look and let me know what to do or simply post the correct text I should post in the load.php file? thanks!
Looked into it, and you’ll need to set your server from PHP4 to PHP5 and you’ll be good to go. You should be able to do this through your server admin panel or by contacting your host support.
You were right. I called GoDaddy and they set it for me. Thanks
Good deal, glad you got it sorted.
@Contempoinc,
I have uploaded images to the listing as described in the documentation, but they are not showing up in my property listing. Where am I going wrong – any suggestions? Sorry, tried to figure it out myself and been at this all day, but I need help.

Thank you and kind regards,
Karin
Make sure and check all the items in the FAQ , it looks like your server might be blocking timthumb from resizing the images.
@Contempoinc,
Thanks for this advice, you hit the nail right on the head (changed cache folder to 777). All working okay now. Much appreciated!
Cheers,
Karin
Hi I was wondering if it’s possible to modify and add names of fields. I would like to use this theme to sell cars, not properties, so AC, Year, Brand, Model, Status, etc would be more convinient for me.
Thanks
Is it possible to add footer widgets?
Not out of the box, but would be pretty easy to do with some quick modifications.
Hi there
I’m seriously interested in purchasing this theme as it is by far the best looking property related template I’ve seen across the net, for both Joomla and Wordpress.
However, would you be able to alter the search criteria in order to adapt this theme to the short term/vacation rental markets? Although I can see that you have it set up to offer rentals, short term rental searches often differ from long term/standard rental searches.
If this is possible, please let me know as I’m eager to move forward the project ASAP .
I hope to hear from you soon.
Many thanks,
Gareth
The taxonomies are completely customizable, I actually have a few buyers using the theme for vacation rentals
Great theme! I uploaded the realestate_2.zip into my themes folder and unzipped it. Tried to activate the theme in admin panel of Wordpress and got this Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /homepages/wp-content/themes/realestate_2/admin/query-taxonomies/scb/load.php on line 12 Please help!
Switch your server from PHP4 to PHP5 and you’ll be good to go.
Thanks for getting back to me.
Could you send me a couple of URL ’s so I can see how these people have used it for vacation rentals?
One thing I thought of after submitting my original question is about availabilitiy calendars. Can those be implemented per property?
Unfortunately I can’t send you any of the buyers sites, without their permission.
Calendar/Date functionality is something I have on the request list for a future update.
Never mind about the parsing error. It was because 1and1.com by default have the PHP4 enabled. For those who’s using 1and1.com you need to do the following. In order to enable PHP5 the .htaccess file must contain this line of code:
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
that’s all
Thanks again for the excellent theme!
The permalink structure / category / postname / does not affect the listings. How can I make it work
This is something I’m looking into
@Contempoinc,
Hi,
I need to change the permalink for the listings.
My current URL is:
http://www.mangonuiholidayhomes.co.nz/?post_type=listings&p=734
and I would like to customise it to something more SEO friendly, such as:
http://www.mangonuiholidayhomes.co.nz/holiday-homes/name-of-rental
You can normally edit the permalink, but I see that you cannot do this from ‘Listings’ posts.
Am I missing something or is there a way to do this?
I would also like to add a property name to my properties, i.e. The Blue Bach. I am able to do this on your previous WP Real Estate template and would like to do the same for this template. Not sure how to do this on the new template, as the title field is reserved for the address. If I do add a property name, it shows incorrect references.
Hope you can help..
Many thanks,
Karin
I’m currently looking into the Permalinks issue, in regards to the property name you would need to add another custom field in admin > custom_fields.php and echo that new field out in your template.
Just wanted to give you an update, I’m still looking into the permalink issue.
Thanks much appreciated!
To enable permalinks, replace your admin > custom_posts.php with the below and you’ll be good to go:
http://pastie.org/1309666
Then go to Admin > Settings > Permalinks and set them up as you like.
@contempoinc
I added the custom field in custom_fileds.php, but it does not show up in admin’s Edit Post page. What am I missing?
Make sure you’ve placed it in the first array of fields new_meta_boxes, can you post the code that you’ve added
@Surgeprotect,
I tried this code to add an extra field to custom_fields.php and it worked..
"id" => array( "name" => "id", "type" => "input", "std" => "", "title" => "Property ID", "description" => "Enter the property name here."),Now I just have to figure out how to echo it through the other templates..
You’ll use something like this, to echo it out in your template:
@Contempoinc,
Great stuff – thanks for your help! Have managed to echo into the rest of the other templates except for the widget : Agents Other Listings.
When I use the above mentioned code, it throws an error. I would like to make “id” linkable instead of the_title (line 262, widgets.php). Is this possible? I did it with http://www.mangonuiholidayhomes.co.nz/?property-search=true ..
Cheers,
Karin
ps: I am impressed with the scalability of this template.. nice!
Not quite sure I’m following but you would just need to wrap your echo for id with an a tag and <?php the_permalink(); ?> in the href
@Contempoinc,
Hi,
Trying to use the echo as suggested.. this is my code:
<h5><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php if((get_post_meta($post?>ID, "id_value", true))) { ?><p><?php echo get_post_meta($post?>ID, "id_value", $single = true); ?></p><?php } ?></a></h5>But I get this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ’;’ in /home/mangonuiho/mangonuiholidayhomes.co.nz/wp-content/themes/realestate_2/includes/widgets.php on line 262
Cheers,
Karin
If you’re wanting to echo out custom fields outside the loop you’ll need to look at this:
http://wpcult.com/pulling-custom-fields-from-outside-the-loop/
Is there a way to search listings by Minimum / Maximum price?
Thanks
Shawn
Currently there’s not, but that feature is on the list for the next update.
Can you help with the image not showing up issue? I did what I think I was suppose to under the FAQ but I am not 100% certain I got it right. Just need someone to make it very simple for me. I am hosted at Blue Host. Just need a little do this do this do this…Thanks!
