thanks a lot for the compliment and for buying the theme! I truly appreciate it!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
how about dark theme ?
you have an option to easily change the background of the theme to whatever color and image you want. However, if you made the background black, you would have to modify some things such as the color of the text, and some icons as well, but that shouldn’t be too hard.
By the way, you have the PSDs for the icons available in the theme’s main folder.
simple & nice theme
Thanks for the positive feedback! Appreciate it very much!
great job, like this one !
is this theme pretty easy to customize ?
no need to be an expert i mean ?
glad you like the theme!
I gave my best to make the code well-structured and readable, so anyone with a bit knowledge in things such as PHP and CSS can understand it and modify it appropriately. However, it still depends on what part of the theme you want to customize, as some parts require more advanced knowledge than the other ones, and the same goes for almost every theme out there, but generally, this theme is very easy to customize.
Also, you have the options for the layout, styling and some other things in the Theme Options panel, which enables you to modify the theme without touching any of the code, depending on what it is that you are trying to customize.
Have a great day,
I have a question. Obviously, I have yet to purchase your theme.
I’d like to know if I could bulk-upload categories?
For example, suppose I have a bunch of images called “Fashion.” Can I bulk upload ALL of them via the WP upload?
Is there a dark option for your theme?
you can upload all of your images at once, without a problem. However, you need to select them for every portfolio item, be they already on your WordPress installation, or on your hard drive. Here’s a screenshot to give you a better idea how it is done via the back-end: http://www.diigo.com/item/image/1mr8l/wrd2?size=o
As far as the “dark option” is concerned, please have a look at the second comment from the top, to find out more.
I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide to do!
Oh, and have lots of fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it.
Great job, I really like it good luck…
Thanks a bunch!
Veliki pozdrav iz Tuzle za svoje sunarodnjake!
The simplicity and clarity is just AMAZING … Congratulations!
Thanks a lot! I truly appreciate it!
I really love the look of this. Are the portfolios built with custom post types or regular post categories?
glad you love the look of the theme!
The portfolio is built with a custom post type. Here’s how it looks like on the back-end: http://www.diigo.com/item/image/1mr8l/wrd2?size=o
Really liking this, nice work.
This one shocked me. Nice work! It wasn’t what I was expecting!
In considering it more seriously, I tested it on my iPhone. A few things I noticed on the iPhone:
- The dropdown menu won’t display
- The hidden Contact page won’t unfold (thus preventing the revelation of contact information)
- Similarly, the bottom plus sign that displays the footer doesn’t even show up
- Clicking the names for each Portfolio category yields no movement or reduction in what’s displayed
This biggest issues for me are the dropdown menu and the contact information.
Any idea how to fix these or when they might be? You might have made me a customer if you can fix them. My roommate also was really interested and may pick it up for herself.
According to NetMarketShare
( http://www.netmarketshare.com/report.aspx?qprid=61 ), the use of mobile devices worldwide to access the web is still not at that level, where I would have to optimize my themes for them (around 3.5% for iOS devices). On the other hand, I strive to make the best quality themes, so I’m going to start supporting these very, very soon. I just picked up a bunch of books on the subject of responsive web design, so as soon as I master the subject, I’m going to start applying it to my themes.
By the way, I don’t see why anybody with some knowledge of web dev/web design couldn’t optimize the theme themselves, if needed.
Good to know your take on it. Having the ability to use the dropdown menus and accessing the contact information via the iPhone is important for this customer, though in general the use of iOS devices to access the internet is low. I can understand your opinion, and you can only do so much.
I definitely don’t mean to rain on your parade. I’ve been playing with your demo a lot today—it’s a lot of fun! I don’t know if I have the ability to develop your theme to get it to do what I would need, so for now I’ll stay tuned to this thread to see if you end up fixing those glitches.
I know you weren’t trying to do anything like that. Also, I understand that the outtake on mobile devices depends on a user base of a particular site. Some clients definitely need support for them, while others don’t. Given that desktop devices are still at around 94%, I guess that a large amount of clients don’t.
By the way, glad you like the theme!
Definitely stay tuned for more,
A design that isn’t a web developer waving flags?!
This is awesome! Will be getting it soon
great to hear that! Have lots of fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it!
loving the jquery effects..
this is what we neede
Thanks! I worked hard to make it as beautiful and functional as I could!
You are so very clever! I love your themes…
Well, thank you very much, miss! * blush *
wow, fantastic theme. Looks very good. Bookmarked.
btw is there a limit to how many images I can show on the main page?
glad you find the theme fantastic!
There is no limit whatsoever on the number of projects/images you can show on the “main” page.
Hey – Theme looks great, but I cant seem to be able to allocate a page template under the page attributes section when creating the home page. The only options I get are “default template”
glad you like the theme! Thanks for buying it!
If you are not seeing the available templates, then you are probably not uploading the theme properly. Please delete the current theme files via FTP , and upload a fresh theme folder. You can find the detailed instructions on how to install and setup the theme in the documentation.
By the way, you can also delete and reinstall the theme via WordPress’ interface.
Just FYI – I uploaded it correctly, but was trying to run the theme through a theme-switch app so i didnt break my current site while i developed this one. Seems that you cant apply the page attributes durnig the theme switch, so I had to activate first, apply the template, then de-activate and run through the theme switch app. That fixed the problem.
Really easy to work with and looks really good sofar.
One other question… this one is more complicated I think…. is it possible to apply a different “on-click” attribute to one or more portfolio pages so that when clicked from the home page, it takes you somehwhere (rather than opening that portfolio page)? I was thinking of haveing a few random squares throughout the porfolio pages which ahd things like “email us”, “follow us on facebook”. These would have all porfolio tags, but i was hoping that when clicked, it would re-direct to another page.
glad you find the theme easy to work with and that you were able to fix your problem.
As far as the custom linking is concerned, it is possible; however, not something which is included out of the box, so some degree of development would be required of you to achieve what you are aiming for. This is most definitely a task for a developer.
I was wondering if this theme supports WPML ?
I would need a maultilingual frontend.
That’s a premium plugin, so I can’t tell for sure. However, I’m certain that it won’t cause any conflicts with the existing code, so if you have some experience with it, you should make it work without a hassle.
By the way, just for your information, when it comes to third-party WP plugins, there isn’t a theme author that can guarantee 100% compatibility with every plugin because there are thousands and thousands of them. In other words, it just isn’t possible to test the theme against all of the available plugins out there, but I can certainly say that Yin & Yang should be compatible with a whole bunch of them because the theme has been developed in such way, that it minimizes the chances of a plugin conflicting with the existing features that are built into the theme.
I’m super interested in this one… It’s between this one and a different theme that i’m considering for a major overhaul on my portfolio site. I think I’m liking this one more for a lot of reasons. Would love it if it had a dark / black version as well so I could see what it looked like dark. Also hoping that there will be no difficulties customizing it if i use a custom designed background image (fixed)
Also does it use Cufon or Font-face?
It really does look great.
thanks for taking an interest in the Yin & Yang theme! Appreciate it!
You can upload the background image and set it to fixed positioning, straight from the Theme Options panel, without touching a single line of code. You can see how it looks like here: http://www.diigo.com/item/image/1mr8l/j801?size=o
When it comes to typography, the theme uses font-face.
I hope this helps! Have lots of fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it!
Thanks for this great theme, I just changed the other one i was using and I’m going to launch my website with this template
I’m just installing it, for now, my question is ¿how do you change the word portfolio from the main page? (I know is a lame question)
Thanks a lot!
glad you find the theme great! Thanks a lot for buying it!
The word “portfolio” can be modified by simply changing it to whatever you please in the template-home.php file. This is easily doable via WordPress’ text editor, found under the Appearance tab.
You’ve done an awesome job of this theme!!
I just have 1 question, I just notices that when you click one of the portfolio items on the home page, its doesn’t load a new URL , can you set it up so each portfolio post has a unique URL like the blog?
thanks a lot for the wonderful compliment!
If you check the source code, you will see that the links are indeed out there. It’s just that the content of portfolio posts is loaded through AJAX , without opening a new page, so the link stays the same because the page you are on is still the same as well.
Ok I got ya. Just wondering if you would have to hard code links in place of the ’#’ in the following string of code:
Also this is just for each category, I need to be able to load a new URL for each post, is this possible?
The reason is we have an existing site that receives quite a lot of traffic and we’d like to be able to keep the same url structure so we don’t lose search engine rankings.
Could you maybe disable ajax from the actual portfolio pages so it loads a unique URL ?
I’ve searched extensively for themes over the last few week and your’s is the only one that hits the nail on the head, so it would be awesome to figure this out.
I can’t see any of the mentioned code. Why don’t you try posting it here: http://snippi.com/
By the way, you can disable the ajaxified projects, and have the “static” ones instead, but you need to adjust a couple of lines of code in the homepage template and one of the jquery files. I guess that a developer could do this pretty easily.
