Hi. Is it possible to make the whole site wider ? Like over the wole page instead of just having everything on the middle ?
thanks for taking an interest in the theme! Appreciate it.
As far as your questions go, it is definitely possible to make the site expand across the whole screen, but that would most definitely be a task for an experienced developer, since there is a lot of work involved in making the site display the way you want it to.
By the way, if you are not a developer yourself, but absolutely need to have the mentioned feature available in your copy of the theme, then my best suggestion for you is to turn to Werkpress, the WordPress customization shop, http://werkpress.com/, so they can customize the theme for you, if you are still willing to buy it, of course.
I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide to do!
Is this theme translation ready?
yes, the theme is translation-ready, but please have in mind that you have to create the .po and .mo files yourself, which shouldn’t be a hard task at all.
Have fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it!
I am a Portrait Photographer and I really love this theme. The only problem I have is how can I post slideshows of many photos. I like the slider-like plugin, but it’s not conducive to slideshows of more than 50 photos. Do you have any recommendations for this need?
glad you love the theme! Thanks for taking an interest in it.
As far as your issue goes, the slider can be easily expanded to hold as many images you want (I would imagine this would take a developer about a half an hour to complete), but 50 images is still too much to have in a single slideshow. Having said that, have you considered spreading the images across more portfolio items, instead of having 50 of them in a single one?
Hi OneEye. Unfortunately I cannot expand a client’s entire wedding across multiple portfolios. As the wedding is less of a portfolio and more of a gallery/slideshow. This is the issue I find with most themes, they’re built for small snippets of images, not complete galleries made for photographers like myself. Well, I love your theme and it’s too bad it’s not built for me.
sorry to hear that. I wish you the best of luck in finding a theme that suits your needs!
Is thiis a responsive theme ?
All the best
thanks for taking an interest in the Yin & Yang theme!
The theme itself does not have a responsive layout, but should still be very much usable on mobile devices, like the iPad. As far as the plans for making the theme responsive go, there aren’t any at the moment, unfortunately, but that can easily change sometimes in the near future; however, I can’t really promise anything right now.
My honest advice for you is to actually question why you are keen on a responsive website in the first place; just because it is trendy, or because your site already gets, or is expecting to get a lot of traffic from mobile devices?
Responsive is cool and dandy alright, but it’s far from a perfect solution for delivering content on mobile devices, and on top of that, I met a lot of people who want it, just because it’s cool, without actually needing it.
Having said all that, I wish you an enjoyable time with the theme, if you end up buying it!
Love the theme, however, it’s been unclear to me how to add the contact page. I see the option of selecting a page to use in the upper-right corner, but don’t know how to make it the contact page as seen in the template design…

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
got some questions, again…
Funny thing is happening right now:
SOME pictures in the Portfolio-Slider (in the preview as well as in each section) appear totally greenish and I cannot find out why. If you reopen the single pictures singularly in another tab though, their colour is absolutely normal and correct. So I dont think its a matter of having uploaded the pics wrongly, but rather that with the picture viewer something’s wrong?!
Do you know any solution for this? I would be rather thankful
Plus, how may I change the colour when marking something (e.g. text) with the cursor? Couldn’t find it and the red’s just not my taste
Thank you so much onion!

I have been using your theme for almost a year now and all my clients love it! I’m making some adjustments to the homepage, and was wondering if you could give me a hint as how to make the home pages (which are right at the top – HOME, ABOUT, CONTACT etc) to appear below the banner?
Here is my site:
Would really appreciate your help!
i just bought this theme and i really love it! But i have a question: Is there the possibility to show images and a video in one portfolio item? That would be really great!
Hi, Thanks for this great theme. I spent a lot of time researching and this theme has worked very well for me up to now, very user friendly.
My question is in regards to SEO – I am sure you get this question often, but is there a seo plugin best suited to this theme?
Also I read in your comments somewhere that crawlers cannot read any content in the portfolio section. Is this true? I may have mis-understood.
Lastly any tips would be greatly appreciated..
i was looking at purchasing the theme “Yin & Yang” and had a question or two. i want to use it solely as a blog. is there a way to tie blog posts and categories of blog posts into the “portfolio” functionality on the home page? Where “Illustration” and “Logo” and “Photography” would all be blog categories, and the thumbnail squares that move about based on what category you select would pull from blog posts instead of portfolio pieces.
Also, would i be able to demo the theme on my server before i purchase (ie work with the backend and admin functionality)?
Thanks for your help.
thanks for taking an interest in the theme!
Regarding your questions:
1) Sublvl (http://www.sublvl.com) did something similar to this, so it would definitely be possible, but some development work would be required of you, which is most definitely a task for a skillful developer.
By the way, if you are not a developer yourself, but are still looking to buy the theme, then my best suggestion for you is to turn to Werkpress, the WordPress customization shop, http://werkpress.com/, so they can customize the theme for you. Besides, you can ask them for an estimate on how much this would cost, before you actually buy the theme.
2) ThemeForest doesn’t have a feature which allows you to demo the theme on your server, before purchasing it, so this is not available, I am afraid.
Having said all that, I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide to do!
I am researching themes for my portfolio site rebuild and yours is definitely a finalist. Just a couple questions to help me make the decision.
1. Is there a way to include a text description of the portfolio item within the details on the right sidebar (somewhere below the image title) rather than below the image itself? I would prefer it in the sidebar so you didn’t have to scroll down to see the text.
2. How thin can you make the header area? Is it determined strictly by Logo height and headline font size? I want to make it thin so it doesn’t take up too much space.
3. Is there a way to have the footer show by default (and not be transparently overlayed as a floating window)? The footer function is cool but might prefer a static footer for my thing.
4. Is there a way to move the “portfolio menu” so it is above the image when you are viewing portfolio items? So like ALL, ILLUSTRATION, LOGO, PHOTOGRAPHY (etc) would be above the current portfolio image as opposed to having to scroll back down to get to it.
5. Will I be able to make pages for the different services I offer (a page describing design, a page describing illustration etc) that will jive with the way the site works? That seems like a stupid question actually… the one thing your theme doesn’t have that others do is a built in overview of different services to be offered (that are linked to the portfolio’s “system”) Basically, is there a to create pages based directly on the portfolio categories?
So those are my questions, thx in advance!
I am pretty sold on the theme but just wanted to ask.
1) Sure thing, but you would have to modify the theme slightly to make this happen.
2) The height of the header is determined by the height of the logo and the height of the tagline, so you can have this area thinner if you made the previously two mentioned things smaller. You can also customize the code a bit to remove the paddings and the margins in the header, which would make the header area even slimmer.
3, 4) Yes, but again, you would have to customize the theme’s code to make this happen.
5) I am not exactly sure what you mean by that. I presume that you want to create static pages that would just describe the different services you offer, but not have any portfolio items in them, which is certainly possible with the theme. That’s what WordPress is there for after all; to make it easier for you to insert any number of pages, and have any type of content you want in them.
Thanks for the reply.
1 & 2 I can take care of no problem, but 3 & 4 sound like they might involve some hairy custom coding.
I am ok with modifying themes but definitely not an expert… I know I can hire a developer but might want something more out of the box… plus I have had some bad experiences modifying themes (beyond the CSS file) and then updating WordPress… but if you think it might be relatively easy and could give me an idea of the kind of work it would require I would consider it. Just a thought, but maybe consider moving the portfolio categories above the image… it seems much more functionally convenient that way (IMHO).
5 yes that is what I want to do… I was just unsure because the theme preview doesn’t really give an idea of what a basic page would look like… can you show an example?
Thanks again for the reply… I might still buy just shopping around… I have no problem customizing the theme a bit but the more functionality I can get out of the box the more I can focus on styling the page visually to make it my own.
Don’t get me wrong, its still a BOSS theme… good work!
3 and 4 are not that hard at all, and would involve modifying the following files: footer.php, style.css, template-home.php. However, I would still recommend hiring a skillful developer, who would complete the job quickly, if you consider yourself a beginner, and if you are not comfortable modifying anything beyond CSS.
As far as static pages go, you have the columns shortcodes available, including the sidebar for widgets, so you can basically make any layout that comes to your mind, with a bit of creativity involved. For examples of these kind of pages, I suggest you browse this comment section a bit because many people have previously posted links to their sites, which you can check out.
Oh, and thanks for the compliment about the theme, including the suggestion about the categories! Appreciate it.
Cool… it sounds like I can pull this off (I am slightly beyond beginner), or I can live with the theme as is (safest bet with WordPress updates).
I have been browsing other peoples sites from the comments already
I know these themes are limited only by my own creativity and efforts… just have become paranoid about extensive modifications from experience with WordPress updates… just need to keep good track of the modifications in case they need to be repeated.
No problem, you do good work… 95% there as far as buying the theme… just gotta sort out hosting.
If I buy I am sure you’ll hear from me again
Sincere thanks for your help and feedback!
you are very much welcome! Hope you don’t experience the problems you mention, if you end up buying this, or any other theme!
All the best,
I’ve purchased the theme and made some modifications. Really liking everything but have one last thing that’s broken.
Here’s my instance: www.PouyanFard.com
I have created several categories and attached several content to each but when I click on the categories, nothing seems to function.
Can you please tell me where I can fix this?
Just wondering how to make all the portfolio exactly like this http://onioneyethemes.com/yin-and-yang/
Current is just a blog post and its empty after i delete all the blog post.
am i missing anything? Thanks in advance!
Would it be possible to get the xml file to configure the site with the demo content featured as you have it? Thanks
OK so I’ve messed around with Chrome Inspector and it appears I can easily accomplish everything with my current skill level!
I had second thoughts about the categories… moving the category DIV is easy enough, but it only really makes sense having them above if when you click on the category it automatically closes the current portfolio item… maybe I’ll give it a shot but maybe I can live with it as is.
Any suggestions on how to pull that off or a general “Dude it will be hard/problematic to add that functionality” is greatly appreciated.
Sincere thanks for all your help, off to buy now.
Will post my site when I finish.
Enjoy working with the theme, by the way!
After reading through the documentation I have no idea how to set up the contact button and overlay window… please advise.
In fact, I find the documentation quite lacking… is there an alternative instructive guide as to how to set up this theme?
I tried signing up for support as you suggest in previous replies, however “Yin and Yang” is not a theme option when registering.
I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you, but all support is strictly handled via a dedicated support forum, available at http://onioneye.ticksy.com/, so please head out there again to submit a ticket, as I absolutely can’t offer any support via comments.
P.S. You can choose Yin & Yang when you are opening a ticket, which is after you log in/register.
Can I purchase a child theme for Ying & Yang Portfolio theme…I want to make changes and I want the changes to be safe when updating the theme?
As far as your question goes, when you are buying the theme, you are always buying the parent theme; the child theme is something that you need to make by yourself, but should be a very easy process. For more information, please visit the following link: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
I had the theme installed awhile ago but I recently noticed that when I load the website on Safari, when I click on like or something there is a weird white space that goes down the page. I am not sure if it is because I did not upgrade to the new wordpress yet but I am hesitant to update it incase it messes up. Could I send you a print screen to show you the issue?
