im just about to purhcase, but have couple of presale question:
1) Can mouse-over-hover effect on header logo be disabled?
2) Can one set the blog view as “home page” – (site’s gonna be blogging purpose only)
3) To someone who has just a basic in html/coding, is it possible to make posts (pictures) a little wider (let’s say 100 pixels more)
thanks for taking an interest in my work!
Regarding your questions:
1) Sure thing. I can easily help you with that, if you end up purchasing the theme.
2) The homepage is already setup like that by default, so no need to worry about this.
3) There is a bit of PHP and CSS coding involved, so I would suggest turning to Werkpress, the WordPress customization shop, http://werkpress.com/, so they can customize the theme for you quickly and on the cheap, if you are not able to do so.
Have fun working with Yin & Yang, if you end up buying it!
The screenshots on the Themeforest page are out of date.
You should change to avoid confusion.
PS : Some of the elements on the old screenshots are things I would like for the current theme :
- Portfolio Item description in right hand sidebar instead of below picture
- Social networking sharing links in right sidebar of portfolio item
you are right. Thank you for your feedback! The screenshot represents the look of a pre-released theme, so I should probably replace it with something more recent, to not confuse anyone else.
As far as your desired things go, I can tell you which files you have to modify for the first one, and point you to the readily-available solution for the second one, but you need to open a ticket via the support forum (http://onioneye.ticksy.com/) because I only handle pre-purchase questions here.
yeah no problem… i am going to give modifying the php… thx!
just an fyi… the suggested portfolio preview image dimensions in the documentation (220×175) are different than what is suggested in the theme itself (220×190).
Incidentally which is correct?
Hey! The right size is 220×190. I just updated this in the documentation, including the screenshot, and submitted an update for review on ThemeForest. It should be up in a day, or two.
By the way, please direct all of your support questions over to http://onioneye.ticksy.com/, if you have any, because I don’t offer support via the comments section.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
All the best,
hi , my project manager bought this theme for me . my question is how to make the portfolio as main page ? thanks in advance
I was interested in purchasing this theme and was wondering if there was a way to order the portfolio items on the home page?
thanks for taking an interest in the theme!
As far as your question goes, you can reorder the portfolio items by changing their publishing dates, in the Publish settings box, when you are editing existent, or making new items.
just wanted to know before purchasing can you make the portfolio thumbnail images open in a lightbox instead of open on the the page?
When it comes to your question, having the thumbnails open in a lightbox is certainly possible, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you.
By the way, if you are not a developer yourself, but absolutely need to have the mentioned feature available in your copy of the theme, then my best suggestion for you is to turn to Werkpress, the WordPress customization shop, http://werkpress.com/, so they can customize the theme for you.
Enjoy working with the Yin & Yang theme, if you end up buying it!
May I know if I can arrange each post as a single “portfolio”?
My intention is to setup a photo blog with each post showing a photo. (not going to using the slide feature)
If this possible, what would happen to the homepage if I have post growing over 100 or maybe 1000?
As far as your questions go, it is definitely possible to set each post with a single photo inside, but please be aware that all items are shown at once on page load; i.e. the pagination isn’t available. Well, at least not out of the box, so some development work would be required of you, if you wanted to have it, which is most definitely a task for a developer, by the way.
Id love to know if this theme supports 2 different portfolios? Like I want to create a page for portfolio and downloads. the download pages looks like the portfolio except it has links for downloads. I don’t want the downloads mixing up in the portfolio page… Do you have this options?
having multiple portfolios is certainly possible, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you, and that is most definitely a task for a developer.
By the way, if you are not a developer yourself, but absolutely need to have the mentioned feature available in your copy of the theme, then my best suggestion for you is to turn to Werkpress, the WordPress customization shop, http://werkpress.com/, so they can customize the theme for you, if you are still willing to buy it, of course.
I wish you the best of luck, whatever you decide to do!
I am very happy with my template
This is the preliminary result: www.planvestudio.com
A question, I can use the same template for a side project? would be to strengthen the item illustration. Or should I buy the template again?
glad you are happy with the Yin & Yang theme! Thanks for buying it.
As far as your question goes, the regular licence covers the use of the theme in a single end product, meaning that you would have to buy the theme again, to be able to use it in a side project. For more information about the licences, please check out the following page: http://themeforest.net/licenses
By the way, love your logo, and the overall look of your site!
I uploaded the image for my client logos. It’s for the front-end of the landing page. However, the client section doesn’t appear.
Can you please help?
I bought this theme and it was not possible to complete the installation due to the following problem:
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
I was thinking about purchasing this theme – however I was wanting to know whether it will work with WooCommerce. I would like a separate page on the website with a handful of items to sell.
To be completely honest, I had a few clients, who integrated some e-commerce plugins in the theme, to make a shop, but in all honestly, I don’t know if everything worked straight out of the box for them, or if they had to customize some things, but I guess that with any plugin of this complexity, it might be required to modify some code, in order to make the plugin blend in with the theme, not only by design, but by functionality as well. Having said that, Yin & Yang is mainly a portfolio theme, so I would always recommend buying an e-commerce theme instead, for e-stores, but WordPress is full of excellent plugins that can transform a theme into anything you want, so you might be able to make this work. However, please have in mind that I can not guarantee the mentioned plugin will work out of the box.
Having said all that, I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide to do!
Buyer beware: ‘Layered PSDs for customization’ are included in the PSD folder, however they refer to icons and such, but NOT the whole mockup. The is no layered PSD homepage or any others in this folder.
Fair warning. Thank you for your feedback.
I am interested in buying the theme. There are only one thing I worry about. If I buy the theme , can I still be able to acquire the latest update from the developer?
thank you for taking an interest in the theme!
As far as your question goes, no worries about the updates; they are, and always will be freely available for download on your ThemeForest’s “Downloads” page, once you purchase the theme.
That said, have loads of fun with the theme, if you end up buying it!
Is it possible to have a text homepage or does the site have to use the portfolio as the homepage?
I would really like to get some text on the homepage or SEO purposes?
Your help would be appreciated.
How can I change the portfolio thumbs to circles? Also if I use the SEO yoast plugin do I need to removed the meta from the header.php?
I really want to purchase this theme, but I have a question about the portfolio items.
Am I able to mix images and a video in one portfolio item? I noticed the examples on the theme had either one video or images, not both.
(I have several images that need to be displayed with a video.)
As far as having both videos and images in a single item is concerned, you can have this feature available by embedding your videos straight into the content editor (large text area), while including your images as your normally would, via the “Browse” buttons. Here is a screenshot, to give you a better idea of how the interface looks behind the scenes: https://www.diigo.com/item/image/1mr8l/wrd2?size=o
P.S. the videos will appear below the slider with the images.
Have fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it!
That’s perfect! (I made the mistake of buying a theme that could only do one or other, so I had to make sure this time.) Thanks for the quick response. Purchasing this theme now.
You’re welcome! Enjoy working with the theme!
It’s not recognizing my email address on your new support portaol so….
I’m getting the following error since I moved from my main domain to a subdomain -
Warning: Division by zero in /home/matte/consult/wp-content/themes/yin_and_yang/function-includes/theme-functions.php on line 54
Would you be able to have a look please http://consult.mattewens.com
I managed to find that it’s image related but they have been re-uploaded and are showing fine, I even attached them via the media library to their individual portfolio.
However when I browse to the image’s via the actual portfolio it errors trying to go back to the old domain….please any ideas how I can resolve that.
Thanks in advance
sorry for the inconvenience, but I only provide support through the forum, so you need to post your issues there. Having said that, if you don’t already have an account on the forum, you need to click the “I need to register…” button, to make one. Then you’ll be able to post your ticket.
Good luck, and thank you for your understanding!
