Hi, I buy the theme a long time ago and I’d like to know how I can order the categories of portfolio, the order they appear does not seem appropriate. Can I can sort by ID or something like that?

Hello! About to purchase this theme. Love the looks of it. Just curious, is there a way to customize it to have a fixed header? Thanks.

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the look of the theme!

As far as your question goes, you can most certainly have a fixed header, but since this is not available out of the box, some development work would be needed of you to make this happen, which is a task for a skillful developer.

Have fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Thinking of buying this theme for a client. What’s involved with making the tiles on the home page smaller (6 across?)?

onioneye

Hi there,

thank you for taking the theme into consideration!

As far as your question goes, I am guessing that you would be trying to fit six portfolio thumbnails in a single row? To do that, you would have to change the portfolio page template, some CSS, and some jQuery.

Hope this helps. Good luck working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Pre-sales Question:
one the home page, after clicking on the portfolio’s featured image, the template takes the visitor to the content page. Is the caption / description of this content page limited to a set amount of characters, or can it be set to unlimited length / characters?

onioneye

Hi there,

thank you for taking an interest in the theme!

Regarding your question, you can have any amount of text in the description, including videos, images, and other media.

Have fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Another Pre-Sales Question:

If I insert Amazon affiliate code on the home page, what shows in the nifty little portfolio boxes, the product image at Amazon, or some standard icon that I have to replace?

onioneye

Not sure, since I don’t have any experience with their affiliate program. However, if Amazon provides custom styling for their code, then you should see what you normally would, if you embedded that code on other sites as well.

Is it possible to make it so that clicking on a portfolio item will make the full image appear in a lightbox, rather than opening the item in an expanded form with text on the side (as you have it shown in the demo)?

onioneye

Hi there,

most certainly. Although, this would not be possible out of the box, meaning that some (minimal) development work would be involved in making it happen. For example, you could install the following plugin for the lightbox, http://wordpress.org/plugins/responsive-lightbox/, and then customize the theme to make it open the large version of the thumbnail, instead of opening a whole post. This shouldn’t be a hard task at all for a developer.

Have fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Hi, Just wondering if you have plans to make this responsive any time soon? Thanks

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you find the theme great! Thank you for taking an interest in it!

As far as your questions go, I just recently responded to a similar/same query. Here is my response:

Hi there,

glad you love the Yin & Yang theme. Thank you for being so faithful to it! :)

First, I would like to emphasize that the theme is perfectly functional/viewable on mobile devices, and that it works flawlessly across all modern browsers. However, I understand the hype around responsiveness, and that you would like to have it ideally.

I have been thinking about converting the theme countless of times; make no mistake about that. However, in all honesty, that would not be easy at all, believe it or not. The theme is so delicately balanced at the moment, and dependent on fixed-sized modules, that even if I firmly decided to convert it, it would not only require rewriting the whole core, but would also (potentially) make the theme lose its original appeal, and cause some serious usability problems, given how Yin & Yang works at the moment (I’m especially referring to the portfolio). Zooming, instead of endless scrolling (responsive) seems a lot better in this case, in my opinion.

My honest advice for you is to check your analytics to determine what devices your users are utilizing to view your site, and then try the site out on those exact devices, which are important to your audience. Chances are, you don’t even need responsiveness, and even if you think you do, the Yin and Yang theme is already able to respond to that, by being crafted the way it is.

Hope this answers your question. :)

Take care, and have a great weekend, OnionEye

Hi, just some pre-sale questions:

Am I able to display my portfolio in 2 or 3 column instead or 4 columns? Just thinking it will look kinda empty if I have less than 10 projects to publish at the moment.

onioneye

Hi there,

thank you for taking the theme into consideration!

Having two or three columns per one row is certainly possible, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you, and that is most definitely a task for a developer.

On the other hand, I saw tons of Yin & Yang portfolios that had less than 10 projects, and they looked perfectly fine to me.

Have fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Hi Onion Eye,

Ive got the following question: Ive changed some code to remove the dotted line and changed some margins with this code: #header { margin-bottom: 0px; } #content { padding-top: 30px; }

But now when i change a category (Print or Online) there is a glitch in the switch. Check my site www.dailydesigns.nl to see what i mean. I think I just need to change a parameter but i really cant find out witch one.

Hope to hear soon for you.

Kind regards, Jeffrey

I LOVE THIS THEME!!! Just nabbed it and Im having a great time, like thousand others… just a few questions…. I could not get the separation line between the title and the content to disappear by editing the code in the style.css on line 256. I’m curious about that, but more over I want to get rid of the title and the dashed line on every page so there is just the top menu and then very little space between the menu and the content (like the portfolio layout for instance).

thank you so much for your time.

Hello again..

Sorry to bug you with another question…. but I was curious… when i purchased the them i did not realize that blog posts could not display like portfolio items (in a nice little grid) so i was trying to figure out a work around. It does not seem possible to simply put a frame on a page and load an exteral web site, like my tumblr…. or is there something I am missing.

Thank you kindly, cheers

Hi

Can i post flash to portfolio also ?

onioneye

Hi there,

thank you for taking an interest in the Yin & Yang theme!

It is certainly possible to use flash in the portfolio. Here is what one of the users of the theme wrote about that, a while ago:

I figured out how to embed Flash files in this theme. For anyone who is having the same problem, use this code: <embed style=”width:200px; height:200px;” id=”VideoPlayback” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” src=”whatever.swf” flashvars=””> </embed>

Hi,

I love this theme — it’s working really well for me. I have a question about portfolio item URLs.

http://www.pennarellodesign.com

When you open the portfolio and view different portfolio projects, the URL does not change. Likewise if a visitor arrives to a particular portfolio post from a link elsewhere, if they then start viewing other items the URL remains that of the original item.

This is a problem when linking to specific portfolio projects. I’m aware of it so I can take it into account when linking on social media etc, but visitors may find it confusing and could easily end up linking to the wrong project or to the main portfolio by mistake.

Is there a way to have the URL change as you navigate through the portfolio?

Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks!

James

why with 6000+ sales don’t you update the theme anymore? this is not fair, I’m very disappointed.

onioneye

Hi there,

I do not understand; the theme is perfectly compatible with all the latest WordPress versions. On top of that, the design is timeless, and the code one of the most stable ones you’ll found out there. That said, there will come a time soon, where I will have to restructure the admin for the yet-to-come WordPress versions (4.0+, for example), so trust me – I got things under control, and I will never let the theme be unusable on any of the upcoming WordPress iterations.

Having said all that, maybe you are disappointed because I am actually not introducing a new design, which I am unwilling to do because the original design is what got the theme so popular in the first place. If I meddle with it, I might make it lose its appeal, which has gotten it to a place where it is right now, as one of the best selling themes of all time on ThemeForest.

Oh, and I see you don’t have a purchase tag, so I am not sure how you purchased the theme, but please have in mind that you are going to need to obtain the purchase code for the forum, by going to the downloads section, from the account with which the theme was bought.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I look forward to seeing you on the forum with your proposals.
