Hi there! I wonder if there is some way to adjust the portfolio thumbnails on the main page to be circular instead of square? I think I could do this via CSS clipping mask (the border-radius property) – but after this I get lost! Any advice?

Thanks, love the theme!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks for buying it. :)

As far as your question goes, I strongly suggest against doing such a thing, not only because you would have to apply the images as a background, and not via the standard “img” tag, which breaks the HTML semantic rules, but also because this modification would be extremely hard to achieve, given all the overlay styles and the inner elements, that the thumbnail boxes hold. However, if you are still up for this, then the following link might be of some help: http://webdesignerwall.com/tutorials/css3-image-styles

Also,

1. How can I change the yellow color of the selected category in the portfolio categories menu?

2. Where can i change the word “PORTFOLIO” over the port items to something else?

Hi there,

to answer your latest questions:

1) The following custom CSS code should help:

#filter .active a, #filter .active .term-name, #filter .active a:hover .term-name, #filter .active .term-count { background: #fff67a; }

Note: you need to change the color code in the background property to the one you want to have. Also, once you complete this, you can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

2) The “Portfolio” word can be modified on the 28th line of code, in the template-home.php file.

Once again, thanks for the purchase, and for the compliment about the theme! Much appreciated. :)

thanks that worked great!

one more question:

how do i remove the portfolio icon?

onioneye

Hi there,

you are very much welcome! Glad it worked great. :)

To remove the icon, you should embed the following CSS to the theme:

#portfolio-header h2 { background: none; padding: 20px 0; }

Hi Onioneye,

Almost finished editing… two last questions for you…

1. In the top drop down page option (on your demo it is the contact section with a map) how would I change the tab hover color to something besides the red color?....

2. ....and then how would I then change the color of the copy that is in that top drop down section from gray to something else?

Thank you again for making such a great template.

onioneye

Hi there,

you are very much welcome! To answer your latest questions:

1) The following, custom CSS should help:

#dropdown-trigger:hover { color: #d15334; }

2) To change the color of the text, you would use the following CSS :

#dropdown-wrapper { color: #fff; }

Note: you need to change the color codes in both cases, to match your needs, and then embed the two lines of CSS code in the theme.

you are very much welcome. Glad you’re satisfied with my support. :)

Regarding your latest question, I’m afraid I didn’t understood it, so I would appreciate it if you could elaborate it a bit more, by providing as many details as you can.

By the way, I would appreciate it if you could reply to this thread, by clicking the “Reply” button, found at the start of the thread. It makes it easier for me, and for other people out here, to keep track of your comments. Thanks! :)

firstly, I apologize to didn’t use the reply botton. when i reply my question, I thought you are not seeing the question. this method is super :)

my questions: 1.Is it possible to change the order of images of homepage 2.how can i change the sorting list of portolio links.. (about-contact-crew- etc)

onioneye

Hi there,

no worries. I can always perfectly see your replies.

To answer your questions:

1) You can reorder the portfolio items by changing their publishing dates, in the Publish settings box, when you are editing existent, or making new items.

2) To reorder the categories, you would have to modify the get_terms function, found in the template-home.php file. Here’s the official documentation that covers the mentioned function: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_terms

I hope this helps! :)

Hi again…. when i prepare my site (under site folder) there was no problem. but i moved to root directory all portfolios have changed size (resolution)... where is the problem… http://www.duysaltasarim.com
onioneye

Hi there,

when you were moving WordPress, it seems that you moved everything to the root, rather than just the index.php file, and the .htaccess file, just like described here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory. That’s why your images are not on the same locations anymore, so you will have to update all of them, via the “Browse” buttons, or you will have to setup your WordPress in the same directory you had before, while moving only the mentioned files to the root.

Also i saw your reply to another persons question where you said you can edit the icon images…

“The icons are found in the /yin-and-yang/images/layout/directory, so you can replace them by uploading your own ones, while keeping the same file names and file types.”

.... i would like to edit some of these but i don’t understand where to find them… i don’t see that directory anywhere in the wordpress dashboard… please help and thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

if you want to modify the existing icons, you would need to edit their PSDs (photoshop files), and then replace the icons found on the server, with your own ones. Basic photoshop knowledge is a must for this task, and the same goes for CSS knowledge, depending on how you modify everything.

By the way, the PSD files can be found in the main folder, that you got, when you bought the theme. Good luck with this! :)

1.Can you please let me know how I can get rid of the information on the left side of “stay connected” the catergories home, about me..etc here is the link…

2. What is the best tutorial to follow to do the portfolio like the live preview, and does the portfolio have to be on the home page?

onioneye

Hi there,

to answer your latest questions:

1) You can disable the sidebar under the “Blog Settings” tab of your Theme Options panel.

2) You have everything explained in the theme’s documentation, so please read it, and if you don’t want to have the portfolio in your root, just skip the step, where you select the portfolio page as the front page, under the Settings -> Reading tab of your WordPress admin panel.

I hope this helps! :)

Just a quick question as I have really already decided I’d like to purchase this theme—are there short codes for buttons and alerts and tables included in this theme like there are in the HyperMind theme you also created? When I look at the Full Width page in the Demo, I only see column shortcodes. Would these be easy to import and use as well in the Yin&Yang theme or to create my own?

Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for deciding to purchase the theme! Appreciate it.

As far as your question goes, the theme doesn’t come packed with shortcodes for buttons, or alerts, but I’m sure there are many excellent plugins for that purpose, so I suggest you look them up in the official plugin repository: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

Here’s one, for example, that you might find good use of: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shortcodes-ultimate/

Have lots of fun working with Yin & Yang, once you buy it! :)

Hi there,

I apologize for the inconvenience this might cause you, but I only offer support via accounts, with which the theme has been bought, so you are going to need to login with that account, and send me an email via the contact form on my profile page, or post your questions here. Once you do that, I will be more than happy to help you out.

Hi there – tinkering away at the theme and enjoying it so far! Just few questions:

First, if you take a look at http://veekee.ca/design/, you’ll notice that the Identity category has two posts in it, but four thumbnails are showing up. The two posters should not be appearing and are in fact tagged as “posters” and “design” only – what’s up with this?

Secondly – icons:

- In what directory can I find the icon files in my FTP , in the installed live version of the theme? I’ve had no luck finding them.

- I am also unsure how to get the ‘Get in Touch” icons to appear (the directional signpost, the phone, and the envelope). I don’t see much info on this in the documentation?

Also: what is the directory path in the wordpress installed version of the theme that leads to template-home.php file.? I just want to change the word portfolio to “selected Work”

Thanks for the info!
onioneye

Hi there,

glad you are enjoying the theme! Once again, thank your for the purchase. :)

To answer your latest questions:

1) Everything works fine, so I’m guessing that you changed some code, related to the portfolio, and then reverted back to the original code, which made the filtering work properly again.

2) The icons can be found in the /wp-content/themes/yin_and_yang/images/layout/ directory.

3) Please read the “contact info shortcode” sections of the documentation, where you will find the instructions, that cover the usage of this shortcode.

4) You can modify the mentioned word directly in your WP panel, under the Appearance -> Editor tab.

Best of luck,

Hi!

Really love the theme was wondering if you could tell me how to change the size of the logo?

Thanks

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks for buying it. :)

As far as your question goes, you can change the size of the logo with the following CSS code:

#wp-title-logo { font-size: 40px; }

The code can be included at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

Hi there!

I’m not sure whether this is the right place to ask this, if there is a forum or something like that, maybe that’s the place.

Anyhow, does anyone here know how to get Social Media Sharing buttons to show up underneath a portfolio post? I’ve tried so many different plugins, but none of the buttons show up in the “ajax”-mode, where the images loads with ajax, only when going to the actual page of the portfolio post.

Does anyone know of a workaround with this? I would appreciate it very much!

Thanks!

Edit: Just found llara’s helpful post on page 15 about this – so no need! :)

Hello, When I use Lynx to see my page there are 4 buttons right at the top that correspond to “Comments Feed” and “Feed”. Is there an SEO advantage to this? I worry that I’m limiting my top keywords by having these words right on top. Any advice?

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

As far as your questions go, these are just feeds outputted in the “head” section of your HTML , and they certainly don’t limit your top keywords, or anything like that. Furthermore, these links are theme-independent, and are found in almost every installation of WordPress; i.e. there is really nothing to worry about here. However, I would worry about your usage of Lynx, if you are using it for anything other then checking how your site is viewed by search engines.

Hey Onion, I have 2 questions: 1 how easy it is to change the fonts and font colour…cause i wanna make it dark? 2 can i add pictures to the videos in the manner that the normal slideshow does when i clicked on logo etc…?

For example photo 1= video, photo=2 picture, photo 3=picture if you see what i mean…

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for taking an interest in the theme!

To answer your questions:

1) You can easily change the theme’s fonts, either completely manually, by changing them in the main stylesheet (style.css file), or by using a plugin, like WP Google Fonts plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-google-fonts/), which lets you embed hundreds of different fonts from the google webfonts repository. It does almost everything for you, but some further, very minor adjustments to the CSS of the theme might be needed to get everything like you want it to be. As far as the colors go, you would just need to track down the color CSS properties, in the style.css file, and change them accordingly.

2) You can’t have images and videos in a single item, by using the options for both of them. However, you can easily circumvent this by embedding your videos directly in the HTML view of the content editor (large text area), instead of utilizing the custom video option. By doing that, your videos will display one below the other, while the images will display in the slideshow.

Enjoy working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Hi,

Is there a built-in way to add a line or two of text beneath each thumb on the front page?

Thanks :)

onioneye

Hi there,

As far as your question goes, there isn’t a built-in way to do this, but it should be really easy for any developer to quickly make this available.

Hi, just purchased the theme but having a small issue with the menu. On the template demo there is a black top border on the page and a white highlight follows the mouse pointer when you roll over menu items. I don’t seem to have this black border on the top and I can’t seem to see any options to add it in the dashboard settings. Am I missing something?

onioneye

Hi there,

no worries. It’s just that your admin bar is covering the black border, so you can’t see it. Please log out of your WP admin panel, and visit the site, or disable the bar, under the “Users” tab, to be able to see the border.

By the way, thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

Is there a way to make the following things linkable so I can access them in a singular page

“Portfolio” “Portfolio categories” “Clients”

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

As far as your question goes, it is certainly possible to have what you are after, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you. This is most definitely a task for a developer, given the complexity of the task itself, and the knowledge required to complete it.

One more question. By clients. I want to add multiple client logo, like you have in demo, but the “theme options” only let me add one at a time …

onioneye

Hi there,

the logos are joined into one image, by using a photo editor like photoshop, and then uploaded to the appropriate option in the Theme Options panel. This method saves your bandwidth, and makes your site load faster, so I suggest you follow the same pattern, instead of customizing this department of the theme.

Hi OnionEye,

excellent portfolio theme and for my purposes as a multimedia design freelancer the best I have seen so far. Really suits my needs.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look as great on portable devices like an iPad. Any chance you are making the theme responsive in the near future ?

Thanks, Chris.

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks a lot for the wonderful compliments about the theme, and for taking an interest in it!

As far as your question goes, the theme does not have a responsive layout, but should still be very much usable on mobile devices, such as the iPad, but I understand if you would like it to be fully responsive.

I’m currently in the process of building my first responsive theme, which should be completed in about two months, or so, and after it is done, I will consider making this theme responsive as well, but I unfortunately can not guarantee anything for the moment. However, I can certainly say that I gave this a serious thought, given that the theme is very popular.

Have lot of fun working with Yin & Yang, if you end up buying it! :)

Hello again,

For our website, we would really like to have the individual portfolio items to have permalinks. So if someone clicks a portfolio items and the ajax loads the next scene, we would like the portfolio item to change. We read a similar post in the forum and in it, you had mentioned that doing this would require some development. We have a developer on board to do this for us and we were wondering if you could give us some guidance to start off. Any help – which files to edit, where are the scripts that handle the Ajax bit on the portfolio page etc, will be of great help.

Our website is hosted on

singforyoursupper.in

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

When it comes to the permalinks, you would have to modify the jquery.header.custom.js file, and possibly, but unlikely, some other files as well, depending on how exactly you are introducing this change. I suggest utilizing one of the two following plugins, for the project:

https://github.com/balupton/History.js/

or

http://benalman.com/projects/jquery-hashchange-plugin/

Note: a good understanding of AJAX and jQuery is a must for this task.

Good luck with this! :)
