Hi there, I’m not sure if it’s related to the theme, but I’ll just ask in case it is: - When I upload images to the media library and link it to post, the images are “broken” on the visual menu of the post, but when I publish the post, the images shows up fine. Also, when I go to the RSS feed for the post entries, some images are “broken”, while others are fine. If I enter the full URL of the image on a new tab, it returns the 404 error page, even though the link to the image is correct. I’m at a lost…

Thanks!

Hi there,

thanks a bunch for buying the theme! Hope you like it. :)

The WordPress’ visual editor is theme-independent (some themes are an exception to this rule, but not Yin & Yang, as it doesn’t alter the editor’s functionality in any way), so I really don’t see how your issue could possibly be tied to the theme. Besides that, never in my time working with WordPress have I experienced anything like this, whether using one of my themes, or someone else’s work. On top of that, no one ever complained about experiencing a similar thing with the Yin & Yang theme, out of more than 3800 buyers, and that says something.

Having said all that, I am convinced your issue is rather directly tied to either your WordPress installation, or your server. It’s even possible that one of your installed plugins is corrupt, so my best suggestion is to go ahead and disable them temporarily one by one, to see if that solves the issue. If that doesn’t work, then I suggest utilizing Google as much as you can, to find out more about this, and contacting your host to see if you have any server-related issues, that are preventing your visual editor from working perfectly in “pre-publishing” mode.

Hope this helps! :)

Too late, as I already gave a detailed answer to your question just minutes ago, before I saw this post, but no worries about that; I’m just glad that you managed to solve everything. :)

Once again, thanks for the purchase, and enjoy working with the theme! :)

When I link a post to Facebook. Faceboook detects the correct blog image but always uses the Headline Introduction Text for the homepage settings. Is there any way to avoid this?

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

As far as sharing posts on Facebook goes, by copy-pasting the links into Facebook’s “update status” area, the post’s data is always displayed properly for me, whether I share a link to a portfolio post, by grabbing the post’s permalink in the edit window, or a link to a specific blog post.

Having said that, if you are still experiencing the issue after making sure you are entering the titles for your posts, when you are making new posts, or editing existing ones, then please try installing the popular SEO plugin, made by Yoast: http://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/. It should fix this, and provide a major boost for your site’s SEO . It’s that good!

Hi there,

I just purchased the theme and it’s great so far to work with. I do want to change the font of the Headline introduction and body of the posts. Would this be a simple task or would I have to get someone with experienced HTML skills to do this for me?

Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you find the theme great! Thanks for buying it. :)

You can easily change the theme’s fonts, either completely manually, by changing them in the main stylesheet (style.css file), or by using a plugin, like WP Google Fonts, which lets you embed hundreds of different fonts from the google webfonts repository. It does almost everything for you, but some further, very minor adjustments to the CSS of the theme might be needed to get everything like you want it to be; however, even a person with very basic CSS knowledge could customize that part.

P.S. the CSS selectors for the tagline (“Headline Introduction”), and the blog posts’ bodies are the following:

#main-headline

and

.single-post .single-post-content

Good luck with this! :)

Hello thanks for your theme, i have problem too post a video content on my blogfrontpage without visitors having too click on the pictures to get transfer too the video.

I would like them too be able directly too play video from my blogfrontpage? PLZ help me out. plz check out my site too see the problem www.ahmet.se

onioneye

Hi there,

you are very much welcome. Thank you for buying the theme. :)

As far as playing videos directly from the homepage goes, you need to activate the “full post” option, under the Appearance -> Theme Options -> Blog Settings tab of your WordPress admin panel because WordPress doesn’t allow frames (videos) in post excerpts.

Once the mentioned option is activated, your users should be able to play the videos without them having to navigate to the single posts’ pages.

Hi,

I notice that the portfolios will just continue to add onto a single page instead of being set with a maximum number and organizing them in different pages. I wonder if there is any way to do the latter instead? We do not wish our visitors to keep scrolling as our portfolio continues to grow.

Thank you :)

Hi there, again. :)

As far as your question goes, having the portfolio paginate is certainly possible, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you, and that is most definitely a task for a skillful developer.

By the way, the awesome crew behind sublvl. made this happen in their copy of the Yin & Yang theme, so you might want to check their site out: http://www.sublvl.com/

Hello,

Couple questions:

- Is there a way to change the Custom Logo Dimensions? For example, the logo I want to upload is 1200×250. I want to it to be large and prominent, as opposed to the 400×70 that is the default.

- When you click through a portfolio and you view the right hand side bar details where it lists out items like categories, date, client, etc.

1. is it possible to disable date from showing up in this area 2. is it possible to change “Client >” to another wording such as “Blogger>”

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks a lot purchasing the theme! Hope you are enjoying working with it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) If you are omitting the tagline, found right to the logo, the maximum recommended size for the logo itself is 940px * any height, but you can really upload an image of any dimensions in that case, even though that’s not recommended, since the width of the site’s content is 940 pixels. However, if you are utilizing the tagline, the maximum recommended size is somewhere around 460 pixels * any height because including a wider logo would cover the tagline to some extent.

2) You can remove the date with the following custom CSS code:

.item-categories + .item-metadata { display: none; }

The code can be included at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

3) The mentioned word can be changed to anything you want, by modifying the theme-functions.php, and the single-portfolio.php templates.

Note: the word is wrapped with the “_e” WordPress translation function.

Hey there! :)

There could be some cooky setting on your server, or your WordPress, preventing you from successfully modifying the theme’s files. If you are absolutely sure you are doing this right, and that you have sufficient permissions for modifying the files, either through WordPress, or via the host’s control panel, then please provide with your WordPress login credentials, by using the contact form on my profile page, so I can inspect things myself.

By the way, I would appreciate it if you could reply to your threads, by clicking the “Reply” button, found at the start of a given thread, instead of opening new ones. It makes it easier for me, and for other people out here, to keep track of your comments. Thanks! :)

Hello,

I have a few questions. First, can I redownload the theme to get the update? I purchased it back in the spring, and I noticed the update has a “contact me” tab on the top (instead of the bottom) that would be perfect for my site.

Secondly, is there any way to change the portfolio slider? Some of my pictures are very dark or black backgrounds and it’s very difficult for people to see the arrow tabs when they’re inside the picture box. I didn’t know if I could change some of them to white, and leave some black, or maybe there is a way for the slider to auto rotate? If you look at my site, I think you will see what my problem is. But now the question is how to fix it!

Thanks so much! And I love your theme, it is gorgeous!

Hi Jess,

glad you love the theme and find it gorgeous! Thanks a lot for the purchase. I really appreciate it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) Of course. You can re-download the theme anytime you want, on your ThemeForest’s “Downloads” page.

2) I think I have the perfect solution for this. The following code should make the slider’s navigation more visible, when the darker images are being viewed:

.pagination { background: #fefefe; background: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.8); padding-top: 1px; }
.pagination li:last-child a { margin-right: 5px; }
#slides .prev { right: 39px; }
#slides #next-prev-links img { background: white; padding: 4px; }

You can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

Have a great weekend,

Hey there,

Me again, I have decided to go with Typekit for my fonts, but it doesn’t seem like it’s working on my site after I put the code into my <head> section. Is there something else I need to tweak in the theme or css file to make it work?

Here’s my (work-in-progress) website www.acclaim-creative.com

Thanks again!

onioneye

Hi there,

please put your custom JavaScript in the footer of the theme instead, and make sure you are overriding the styles for the fonts, defined in the style.css file.

P.S. You need to go through the mentioned file, to see on which selectors the default font families where defined, and then use those selectors to define your custom fonts.

Hi !

Thanks for your very smart theme ! I just want to know if there is an easy way to turn the black text from the header (next to the logo) into white (or an other colour). Text settings is in Theme options >Homepage settings but doesn’t allow to change font or colour =/

Thank you for you answer.

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for the compliment about the theme, and for the purchase! Appreciate it very much. :)

As far as the color and the font go, you can change them by modifying the following line of code, and including it at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme:

#main-headline { color: #333; font: normal 15px/22px 'Merriweather', Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; } /* main headline at the top of the landing page */

Having multiple portfolios is possible, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you, and that is most definitely a task for a skillful developer.

Hello there!

Hi there,

As far as your questions go, it is definitely possible to do that, but the following files would have to be modified in the process:

  • theme-functions.php
  • single-portfolio.php
  • style.css

By the way, this is most definitely a task for a developer.

Hello, I have a problem in that when I open all the various projects in the category “portfolio” in the url bar of my browser is as follows:

www.stefanomenconi.com

But when I open the same project in “preview mode” in the configuration panel of wp the link in the browser is as follows (for example):

http://www.stefanomenconi.com/?portfolio=full-magazine

Could i open all the projects in “portfolio” as the link above? Because some plugins do not work (for exemple all to add social buttons). I think it’s a problem of “permalink” but I can not set right.

Thanks for your help. :)

onioneye

Hi there, again. :)

The portfolio items in your root URL (homepage) are loaded dynamically via AJAX , from the items’ URLs, that you see in preview mode. This is done, so that the items can be loaded on the same page, instead of opening them on a separate page every time you want to view a particular item.

When it comes to using AJAX and plugins together, sometimes it is required of you to modify the code a bit, to make the plugins “blend in.” In your specific case, the sharing buttons don’t work because they often need to be implemented a bit differently, to make them compatible with AJAX , but no worries about that. A user by the name of “lllaria” managed to import the social sharing buttons in the site, so be sure to check out her post on the 15th page of the theme’s forum. I would imagine this wouldn’t take a developer a long time to integrate into the theme.

Oh, and by the way, you can always easily disable AJAX completely, by deleting the following line of code from the jquery.header.custom.js, and jquery.quicksand.init.js files:

$( ".project-link" ).click( eQgetProjectViaAjax );

Hi – I just purchased this theme – I am trying to make changes to .php files but I don’t see any updates when reloading browser window. I do see changes I make to style sheet but not php ones. Can you help me out?

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

As far as your question goes, please make sure you go through the following steps, when trying to modify your files:

  • Disable any active caching plugins, that cache your php files, if you have one installed.
  • Try reloading your browser’s cache every time you make a change to one of the php files.
  • Make sure that the changes you make can actually visually be traced either in the front-end source code, or on the site itself, just as a test.
  • Make sure that you are actually properly modifying the files and overwriting them on your server.

Hope this helps!

OnionEye

Hi there,

Is there a way to make the image gallery in the portfolio auto scroll? Also can I make the custom logo image be a slideshow of multiple images too?

Thanks in advance!

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) You can make the slider auto slide, by setting the “play” variable of the “eQsliderInit” function, to a positive number like 1500, for example, which represents the number of milliseconds between the advancement to the next slide.

The file that holds the mentioned function is jquery.header.custom.js.

2) This customization request is possible, but it definitely requires a developer, so if you are not one, my best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a reputable freelancer for the job.

Hi there. I’m having a similar problem as Fredib on page 37 of the discusssions.

I am trying to limit the number of portfolio items to 16. What I have done is in template_home I have changed the query to

$my_query = new WP_Query( array( ‘posts_per_page’ => ‘16’, ‘post_type’ => ‘portfolio’ ) );

This works fine to limit the portfolio items on the home page. However it breaks the items in the portfolio sub categories. So for example if I have 50 total portfolio items in 5 different sub-categories. When i hover over the sub category button. The popup displays the correct number of items. But when you click on it. It shows 3 items instead of lets say 10.

Hi there,

the shared piece of code will only limit the actual number of displayed portfolio items on the homepage, and nothing else. If you want to conditionally load other items, based on the clicked filter category, or have something like the portfolio pagination available for your users’ disposal, a lot more development work would be required of you, which is most definitely a task for a skillful developer, given the complexity of the task itself.

By the way, in cases where a modification includes more than one or two lines of code, and yours definitely does (it is rather really complex), I am unable to provide any custom code, so my best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a skillful and reputable freelancer for the job, if you are not a developer yourself.

Hi I love your theme. Will you update it to be responsive in the near future? I would gladly pay an upgrade fee if you do. Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks for buying it. :)

As far as your question goes, I don’t currently have any plans in making the theme responsive, but that could change sometimes in the near future, after I complete my next theme, that happens to be responsive. However, I unfortunately can not promise anything, and that’s why my best suggestion for you is to hire a skillful developer for the job, if you absolutely need a responsive layout.
