hey.

are you going to integrate pinterest to social networking?

thank you.

onioneye

Hi there,

once again, thanks for purchasing the theme! Appreciate it. :)

As far as your question goes, I don’t have any plans on adding a Pinterest icon at the moment, but I will seriously consider it, when the next update comes around, which should happen in the following 2-3 weeks, or even before. However, I can’t really promise anything at the moment, so if you absolutely need the icon, then I suggest you add it yourself, or alternatively hire a freelancer, who will do that quickly for you.

Sincerely,

OnionEye

Hello,

I’m considering buying this theme, but never used Wordpress before, can you please tell me if its possible to edit\customize it outside the administrator panel (i.e. – in another Web Editor)?

If so, i suppose its also possible to add other elements to it, and not just customize those that are already in use?

Thanks in advance.

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for taking an interest in the theme!

To answer your questions:

1) You can literally use any text editor to modify the theme files, and then upload the files back to your server.

2) Most certainly. You can transform your website into anything you want; you are only limited to your imagination and your coding skills, really.

By the way, I suggest you install a local apache server (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html), to be able to install and run WordPress on it, so you can modify the theme on your computer, without doing it directly on your server, as that is not a very efficient way of introducing any changes bigger than a few lines of code. Then, once you are done, you can upload your theme to the live server. For more information on this topic, please utilize Google as much as you can.

That’s it. Have lots of fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Hello, I love your theme! Could you tell me how to delete the buttom 1 widget area? Currently my home page shows + button which expand to show the buttom widget area.

Thank you!

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks for buying it. :)

As far as your question goes, you have an option, found under the Appearance -> Theme Options tab of your WordPress admin panel, that lets you easily disable the widget area, so please utilize it.

Thanks for your kick reply and suggestions,

but the thing is, my coding skills are pretty basic, so it would be better to me to stay in my comfort zone and use a web editor software (such as Dreamweaver) to modify my site locally and then upload it to the server.

Is it possible?

onioneye

Hi there,

you are very much welcome. :)

When it comes to your latest question, it is most definitely possible to use Dreamweaver, when modifying files, so no worries about that.

Thanks for a great theme! But how do I make the portfolio appear on the home/start page?

Please read the documentation, that’s found in the main folder. It contains all the instructions on how to install and completely setup the theme, including the homepage.

Greetings, thanks for this awesome theme. I have some questions before i’ll buy it:

-Is it possible to implement the typical Slider at the main page? (as it can be seen in many pages as: ninecreativity.com)

-The portfolio thumbnails that appears in the main page, are allways the same? Can it appear randomly? Or if they are always sorted, which is the approach that follows?

-Is it possible to implement more that 1 filter in the portfolio? I mean, i need to filter e.g. as Photo, Design and Movie, but then, after each category, i want to filter again, e.g. mine or collaborative. So i can have (Photo, Mine), (Photo, Collaborative), (Design, Mine), (Design, Collaborative), (Movie, Mine), (Movie, Collaborative), and maybe i could implement another category. Do you think this would be possible?

Thanks for your attention!

best,

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you find the theme awesome! Thanks for taking an interest in it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) If you want a slider showing on the homepage, you would need to integrate it on your own, but that should be too hard, with a help of a plugin. However, it all depends on the slider you want to use, so maybe some more development work would be required, but that should still be an easy job for a developer, and one that shouldn’t cost you much money, so my best suggestion is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a freelancer for the job, if you are still willing to buy the theme.

2) Sure thing. You can have them in a random order. I can help you with that, if you want.

3) Not sure about this; it might be possible, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you, and that is most definitely a task for a developer.

By the way, once again, if you are not a developer yourself, but absolutely need to have the mentioned feature available in your copy of the theme, then my best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a reputable freelancer for the job.

Have lots of fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Hi!

I have used the Yin & Yang theme for my portfolio www.lindakastner.com for about a year now and everything has been working perfectly.

However, after I updated to WordPress 3.4.2. , a couple of weeks ago, none of the portfolio items will “open” when clicking on the preview images. The only things that happens when clicking on one of the thumbs is that the loading symbol will rotate for a couple of seconds and then disappear.

Since my wordpress/html knowledge is limited I have no idea where to start looking for the root of this problem and would truly appreciate some help!

Thanks!

Linda

onioneye

Hi Linda,

glad you’ve been such a long-term user of the Yin & Yang theme! Hope you’ve enjoy it all this time. :)

As far as your issue goes, it has nothing to do with the update of WordPress. The theme perfectly works with the latest version. Having said that, please remove the following code from the theme-functions.php file, and you should be fine:

if ( !wp_verify_nonce( $_REQUEST['nonce'], "portfolio_item_nonce" ) ) {
        exit("No naughty business please");
}

Hi,

Thanks for your fast response! I have tried removing the mentioned code, but when doing that the page itself completely disappear. The site simply loads as if it is empty.

Do you have any idea whats going on? (I have now pasted the code back in)

Thanks!

Linda

onioneye

Hi Linda,

you are very much welcome. :)

It’s quite possible that you are modifying the code improperly, missing its vital piece, so I am going to share it on the following link, for your convenience: http://snippi.com/s/7lmdufa. Having said that, please make sure that you remove every single piece shown on the page. Also, please log out of your WP admin panel once you are done, and then open the site in a new tab. That should do it. However, if you still continue experiencing some problems, please contact me by replying to this post.

Hi. This is a great theme. :-) Thanks. Just one question, is it possible to upload photos into the portfolio in batch rather than manually one at a time.

Thanks Paul

onioneye

Hi Paul,

glad you find the theme great! Thanks for buying it. :)

As far as your question goes, you can upload all of your images at once, in the Media tab of your WordPress admin panel, but you would have to select them manually one by one, inside the portfolio items, I’m afraid.

Hello, I have a question :) Can I change the height of the thumbnail home (portfolio), they are 190px high, should I change the size to 204 px … I do not, and when I try it does not work.

thank you very much!

Hi there,

sure thing! You just have to change the value of the ”$desired_height” variable, in the template-home.php file, and you should be fine.

By the way, thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

Hello,

thank you it works very well, against how to enlarge the black roll over? I can not find.

thanks so much! the theme is top

onioneye

Hi there,

thank you for your compliment! :)

The following code should help:

.project-link .project-content, .blocked-project-overlay:after, .project-link .project-overlay, .blocked-project-overlay { height: 204px; }

You can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

Hello OnionEye,

Thanks for the timely response to my question the other day concerning having the featured portfolio tag be the default state. We followed the directions at http://themeforest.net/item/yin-yang-clear-and-slick-wp-portfolio-theme/discussion/634395?page=83 and that seems to have fixed our first issue, but created a few small hiccups we want to try and fix.

1 – Is there a way to sticky the featured tag so it comes before all the other ones in the list of tags?

2 – Is there a way that we don’t see the portfolio load all the other icons before it snaps over to the featured tag?

3 – Can we hide the “all” tag so it is not viewable?

Thanks again, you are awesome.

Hello again,

We were able to fix #1 and #3 after some work today, but we are still trying to figure out if there is there a way that we don’t see the portfolio load all the other icons before it snaps over to the featured tag. Happen to know of a fix?

Thanks so much.

Hi Again,

I have a couple final questions. I have gotten it too almost 100% and I absolutely LOVE it so thank you! I just have a couple last questions:

you can see it at gearwhore.us/ilikehighfives

1. On the top drop down page I can not find the where to change the Merriweather font to Yanone Kaffeesat for the little toggle that says CONTACT .

2. In a slideshow, With in the portfolio projects, the transition between photos is a little stuttery and the circle indicator in the top left is slightly lower then the other non selected circles. Is there anything I can do to fix that?

3. In the Bottom Overlay, the plus icon has a 1px hairline to the right of it that is the height of the icon. It is there at all times, is there a way to get rid of that?

4. There are subtle differences in theme from browser to browser, mainly the dotted divider lines between the header and content and then content and bottom menu do not show up in Chrome but they do in safari. Is there anything I can do so the dividers are displayed in all browsers?

5. I added links into the header and they are working great but how do I get them to launch a new tab instead of taking me out of the site?

THANKS SO MUCH !! I cnt wait to finish it up.

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love it so much! Thanks again for the purchase. :)

To answer your latest questions:

1) The following custom code should do it:

#dropdown-trigger { font-family: "Yanone Kaffeesatz", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; }

2) The selected circle is perfectly aligned with the rest, so you probably just see it differently, mainly because the circle is a bit darker; it’s just a trick your eyes play on you.

As far as the sliding effect goes, you can play with the options a bit, to get it to behave exactly like you want to.

By the way, the options can be found under the “Portfolio Slider” section of the jquery.header.custom.js file.

3) I am suspecting that you are experiencing the same exact thing, as mentioned in the answer to question number 2, as there is no such a thing appearing on my side.

4) I checked this multiple times, and the borders are displaying perfectly in both browsers, 100%. Having said that, I see that you made some changes to the theme, so you might want to clear the cache inside your browsers, and have a look at your site again. That should potentially solve the rest of the things you mention, which are perfectly fine on my end.

5) You need to give your anchor/link elements target attributes with a value of “_blank”. The following link should help you out with that: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_target.asp

That’s it. Hope this helps! By the way, please have in mind that I can not provide anymore custom code for you. For any other customization, you are going to have to hire a freelancer, or alternatively do it you it yourself. Oh, and I would appreciate it if you could reply to this thread, by clicking the “Reply” button, found at the start of the thread, in case you have something to add to this conversation. It makes it easier for me, and for other people out here, to keep track of your comments. Thanks! :)

Hello!

Thanks for the response. So I apologize for 2-4 it seems it’s something to do with only my browser because it looks great on all other computers so I apologize.

I tried add that code for Yanone into the CSS and unfortunately it did not change anything.

As far as 5 goes I have tried to add target=”_blank” several times and every time I update it, it disappears. I’m assuming bc it’s part of the header or something it’s not letting me add it bc every time i update it it disappears. it’s strange. Is there something else I have to change first?

Thanks again!

Default-user

Sorry about that so I did figure out the font family issue so thank you. It did work.

The last thing I am trying to figure out is the links in the openning paragraph. I can not get them to open a new tab for the life of me. It keeps erasing the _blank.

onioneye

Hi there,

no need to apologize. Everything is A-OK. :)

As far as your last issue goes, if you click on the links, they open in new tabs, so I guess we can call this a day.

Hello OnionEye,

No worries on checking to make sure we had bought the theme. I assumed it was under the company account. It was not.

As mentioned above we used http://themeforest.net/item/yin-yang-clear-and-slick-wp-portfolio-theme/discussion/634395?page=83 to make the portfolio default to a Featured tag instead of all. However, every time the page loads you briefly see all of the thumbnails before it fades out to the tag we are featuring.

Is there a way that we don’t see the portfolio load all the other icons before it snaps over to the featured tag?

Thanks again.

Hi Stephen,

As far as your question goes, that is the best solution I can give to you, unfortunately. If you have anything else on your mind, a significant amount of customization work would be required of you (much more than I can offer), so my best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a reputable freelancer/developer for the job, if you are not one yourself.

Hi guys!! Still a happy customer! Still really love the theme!

Quick question: when I go to build my menu, the portfolio items are not showing up for some reason (on the left, after pages and before categories) like they used to. What am I doing wrong? I must have clicked a box somewhere but I cannot seem to find it!

To clarify, I just want to add some of my portfolio items to the main navigation, and normally there is a portfolio section on the left, from which I can add links to my menu along with the pages and posts, etc.

Thank you for your knowledgeable help!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you still love the theme! Once again, thanks for the purchase. :)

As far as your question goes, no worries. Just navigate to the Appearance -> Menus tab of your WordPress admin panel, and activate the “Screen Options” tab in the top-right corner of your site. Once you do that, just select your portfolio, and the items will be shown, so you can add them to the menu.

Hello OnionEye,

This is a beautiful theme. I’m contemplating whether this theme is a good match for me or not. I would like to know if a mobile compatible version will be released in the near future?

Thank you.

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for taking an interest in the theme! Appreciate it.

The theme itself does not have a responsive layout, but should still be very much usable on mobile devices, like the iPad. As far as the plans for making the theme responsive go, there aren’t any at the moment, unfortunately, but that can easily change sometimes in the near future; however, I can’t really promise anything right now.

My honest advice for you is to actually question why you are keen on a responsive website in the first place; just because it is trendy, or because your site already gets, or is expecting to get a lot of traffic from mobile devices?

Responsive is cool and dandy alright, but it’s far from a perfect solution for delivering content on mobile devices, and on top of that, I met a lot of people who want it, just because it’s cool, without actually needing it.

Having said all that, I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide to do! Have lots of fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it. :)

Sincerely,

OnionEye

Thank you for your reply OnionEye.

The reason why I’m asking about a responsive layout is that I plan to use my mobile as a backup plan to share my portfolio in case my physical one breaks down.

I understand what you’re saying and I will definitely take it into consideration.

Thank you again!

Hi there,

I’m a noob at this and just got my wordpress up and running with the theme installed, however i am having trouble with blog posts and images. How do i get the blog posts to look similar to those in preview, with images being cropped and the text exerpt being cut of with a read more link?

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) You can set the thumbnail for a post, under the “Featured Image” settings box, when you are editing an existing post, or making a new one. Note: you need to click the “use as featured image” link, once you chose the thumbnail.

P.S. the featured images need to be wide enough to be cropped; otherwise, they are going to be displayed in full size.

2) The text excerpt with a read more link will only show up if the content of your post is long enough to be excerpted. If not, the existing text will show.

By the way, please make sure you read the documentation, that’s found in the main folder. It contains all the instructions on how to install and completely setup the theme.

Hello, I really like your theme and am considering purchasing. Before I do I have a few questions for you.

1. With Wordpress 3.5 coming out in a few days, are you planning to make sure this theme works with the new version?

2. Is there an easy way to limit the front page portfolio to only 8-12 of the latest posts and have another page with the full portfolio on it?

3. The preview image of this theme shows the home page differently than the demo. Are there easy customizable options to select for the front page, or is this an image of an older version of this theme?

Thanks!!

onioneye

Hi Blake,

glad you like the theme! Thanks for taking an interest in it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) Sure thing. This theme is one of the most selling themes on ThemeForest, so of course I will make sure it works perfectly.

2) This is certainly possible, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work would be required of you, and that is most definitely a task for a developer.

3) The image represents the look of a pre-released theme. Sorry about that. I should probably replace it with something more recent, to not confuse anyone else.

That’s it. Have lots of fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)
