Hi,

I’ve written here before and always received very helpful advice. Thank you for this. Unfortunately my items are no longer working again for other users. What is the cause of this? This issue occurs across all browsers and I’m not sure how to approach the problem.

My website is melissabmendoza.com. Let me know what you think.

Thank you, Melissa

Hi Melissa,

you are very much welcome! I am really glad you’ve always considered my support very helpful, so thank you for your positive feedback. :)

As far as your items go, I suggest you disable all of your plugins temporarily to see if anyone of them is the cause of the issue you are experiencing. However, if that doesn’t work out, then please try to remove the following code from the theme-functions.php file: http://snippi.com/s/7lmdufa. In case you go down that route, make sure that you remove every single piece of code shown on the given link. Also, please log out of your WP admin panel once you are done, and then reopen the site in a new tab. That should do it, but if you still continue experiencing the same problem, please feel free to contact me by replying to this post (there is a “Reply” button at the start of this thread).

Hope this helps!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Wow I am impressed with your quick response. Thank you so much for the help! Deleting that script worked:)

One more quick question,

Is there are way I can make the description/body text at the end of my items (bottom of the images) appear under in a new section underneath the project url?

Any direction/help would be appreciated. Thanks!

onioneye

Hi Melissa,

you are very much welcome! Glad you are impressed with my support, and that the solution I provided you with worked perfectly. :)

When it comes to your latest question, it is certainly possible to do so, but you would have to modify the following files, which should be an easy task for a developer:

  • theme-functions.php
  • single-portfolio.php
  • style.css

Hi Onioneye

Having some trouble with the theme. My posts wont load when not signed in to wordpress. It seems a bit temperamental and sometimes works on some browsers but theres no consistency.

I have tried changing file permissions and I have removed }

if ( !wp_verify_nonce( $_REQUEST['nonce'], "portfolio_item_nonce" ) ) {
       exit("No naughty business please");

from the theme-functions.php file.

Everything works find when you’re logged in as admin but not on other machines.

The URL is glenmilner(dot)com

Please help!

:D

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

As far as your issue goes, I just inspected your site in all of the popular browsers, and your items worked perfectly. Now, the reason behind the items’ inability to load is most probably due to the fact that you logged in your WordPress admin panel, and then logged out in the meantime. WordPress had you “marked” as admin, when you were logged in, and viewing your site at the same time. Now, as soon as you logged out, you lost that status, and with it, you lost the permissions to execute AJAX requests (i.e. load items) as well, in the tabs where your site was active, because WordPress couldn’t recognize you as admin anymore, so the security system kicked in, and blocked you from executing any further AJAX requests.

Having said all that, you need to open you site in a new tab, if you log out of your WordPress admin panel, in the meantime. That’s why your items weren’t loading at times. However, if you still continue experiencing the same issue, please feel free to share the link to your site with me here, by replying to this post (there is a “Reply” button at the start of this thread), and I will inspect things further.

P.S. clearing your browser’s cache, if you have some caching plugin setup, would be a good idea as well.

Sincerely,

OnionEye

Hi,

Actually I have already seen this response to another users query but it doesnt seem to actually fix the issue. When someone logs into the admin it causes problems for users at completely different locations.

Please could you have a look at our site if you get chance? URL is glenmilner(dot)com

Thanks for your quick response

onioneye

Hi there,

I already checked your site the first time you posted a link to it, and the items worked perfectly for me. I decided to test them again a few minutes ago, and the results were the same; everything worked. Having said that, I would appreciate it if you could send me your WordPress login credentials, along with a link to your site and the explanation of the problem, so I can try to reproduce it, and identify the cause.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Hi Onioneye,

Quick question. Just installed the template and everything is working fine, but for some reason the Background Pattern/Image options are not working – I change a setting and save but there are no changes on the website after refresh.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Chris

onioneye

Hi Chris,

thanks a lot for the purchase! Appreciate it. :)

No worries about the background. It’s just that your server assigned the wrong permissions to one of the theme’s files, but that is easily fixable.

Please read the “Permissions of a Dynamic File…” section of the theme’s documentation, to battle this issue to the ground.

Thanks Onioneye! That sorted it!

I’m now having another issue. Basically it’s a TimbThumb issue. The first image will show and then the rest of them won’t show. So I right clicked on the dead image and got the following error: A TimThumb error has occured

The following error(s) occured:

Could not create the file cache directory.

So having a look in the folders but I don’t see a cache directory. I read in a few places that the permissions may be an issue for this problem. Problem is I don’t know where this cache folder is.

Any ideas?

My site is www.chrisgilloch.com

Cheers, Chris

onioneye

Hi Chris,

you are very much welcome! Glad the solution I provided you with worked. :)

As far as TimThumb goes, please go over the steps outlined in the “Image Resizing and File Permissions” section of the documentation, to battle this issue to the ground. The cache folder should then be automatically made for you in the appropriate directory, but if it still isn’t, you can easily do this yourself by making a folder inside the /wp-content/themes/yin_and_yang/ directory on your server, naming it “cache” and giving it full permissions. You can do so via an FTP program, or your host’s control panel.

By the way, I would appreciate it if you could reply to this thread, by clicking the “Reply” button, found at the start of the thread, instead of opening a new one, in case you have anything else to add. It makes it easier for me, and for other people out here, to keep track of your comments. Thanks! :)

Hey Onioneye, i just found your Template and I was wondering if the theme will one day be made responsive. It’s a great template but the only that’s missing is the mobile aspect.

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for taking an interest in the Yin & Yang theme!

The theme itself does not have a responsive layout, but should still be very much usable on mobile devices, like the iPad. As far as the plans for making the theme responsive go, there aren’t any at the moment, unfortunately, but that can easily change sometimes in the near future; however, I can’t really promise anything right now.

My honest advice for you is to actually question why you are keen on a responsive website in the first place; just because it is trendy, or because your site already gets, or is expecting to get a lot of traffic from mobile devices?

Responsive is cool and dandy alright, but it’s far from a perfect solution for delivering content on mobile devices, and on top of that, I met a lot of people who want it, just because it’s cool, without actually needing it.

Having said all that, I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide to do! :)

Hi OnionEye,

The theme is working great, but the colors of the photographs are less vibrant than the originals I’ve uploaded. Is this something I can fix?

Many thanks, Amber

onioneye

Hi Amber,

glad the theme is working great for you! Thanks for the purchase. :)

As far as your issue goes, your images are cropped with the famous image cropping script, TimThumb, which does its task perfectly, but if you are still not satisfied, you can try setting the ”$quality” variable to 100, instead of 90, in the template-home.php and the theme-functions.php files.

Alternatively, you can upload images that have the same dimensions as the one recommended next to the fields where you set your images, and they will not be cropped, thus meaning that they will be displayed in their original form.

hi

Having a trouble with shorcode [contact_info …] i can’t put link on email ? Thank You Marie

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

As far as your question goes, the shortcode doesn’t support links out of the box, so you would have to modify the contact-info-shortcode.php file to achieve this, after putting your shortcode somewhere on your site.

Hello!

Let me start by saying that I am new to this whole thing and my experience so far has been wonderful. This theme was so easy to install and modify, I am in love with it.

I’m hoping you could help me out with something. If possible, I would love it if I could set one of my portfolio items to be ALREADY selected / open when someone loads my website. (this is my website: www.TADASHI.tv)

I apologize if this was already asked before, or if this is a developer question. Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again, and awesome work :)

onioneye

Hi there,

thank you for all the wonderful compliments about the theme, and for your purchase. I am really glad that you’ve been able to set everything up so easily, even though you are new to WordPress. :)

When it comes to your question, it is definitely possible to have a post as your homepage, but WordPress unfortunately doesn’t support this out of the box, so some development work would be required of you to make this work, and that is most definitely a task for a developer.

By the way, not sure if this will help, but you might find the following page useful, in regards to your customization request: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/37579/single-post-as-homepage

Hi Onioneye, I created my navigation menu but it wont appear… any suggestions?

Thank you, Lawrens

onioneye

Hi Lawrens,

if you are absolutely sure you are setting it properly in the Theme Locations box, found under the Appearance -> Menus tab of your WordPress admin panel, then this is almost definitely a memory issue with your server. Please reinstall the theme, by downloading it from ThemeForest again, and replacing the old theme folder, on your server, with the new one, via FTP . Once you do that, you should be fine.

By the way, thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

Hey Onion Eye,

I am considering buying this template, and before that just wanted to ask, is it possible to easily modify it so that when somebody presses an image for a portfolio item a new page loads with the portfolio item, instead of Ajax loading it on the same page?

Cheers

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for taking an interest in the theme!

If you want to disable AJAX in the theme, there is a full-blown solution on the following page, http://themeforest.net/item/yin-yang-clear-and-slick-wp-portfolio-theme/discussion/634395?page=80, posted by a user called “gatto26”, so please check it out.

Have lots of fun working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Hello!

Firslty, I’d like to congratulate you for this theme, it’s beatiful and appears to be very functional. And I’d like to buy it, but I’m graphic designer and do not understand very much of web design, just the basic HTML and CSS . So I want to know if this theme is easy to personalise, and how (on dreamweaver or on the wordpress panel of my host site?)

Thank you!

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for congratulating me on the theme, and for taking an interest in it!

As far as your question goes, you have the full documentation, that contains all the instructions on how to install and completely setup the theme. Also, you can easily upload your own logo, and things like that to personalize the theme without a hustle, and in case you want to change the looks, such as the colors, you can modify the main style.css file, which holds all the CSS for the theme, and which is structured in a way, that makes it easy to modify, either via the dashboard panel, or dreamweaver. However, if you want to introduce new features, or significantly modify the existing ones, then please be aware that a developer would most definitely be required for the task, but you can always hire one if it is an absolutely needed feature.

That’s it. Enjoy working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Hi there,

I apologize for the inconvenience this might cause you, but I only offer support via accounts, with which the theme was bought, so you are going to have to login with that account, and send me an email via the contact form on my profile page, or post your questions here. Once you do that, I will be more than happy to answer your questions.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. :)

I am also trying to figure out how to show only the thumbnails in the portfolio page. I want to show only the detailed description of a portfolio when the user clicks on the image, but by default the theme is already showing the detailed description of the first portfolio. In the demo this works as I want it to work (http://onioneyethemes.com/yin-and-yang/) but not in my installed version. Thanks

1. I just cant seem to change the font of the website logo/title. You have told me to change it in the style.css page but nothing happens when i do.

I want new courier or similar but whatever font i choose does not effect the title. This is where i’m trying to change it:

wp-title-logo { color: #444652; font: normal 400 60px ‘Georgia’, Georgia, “Times New Roman”, Times, serif; }

2. Also is there some css code to stop the logo from moving when you hover over it ?

3. Do you have a page of custom css that can be added to the site that you could send me ?. I like the idea of being able to see all modifications as this can effect my design process.

many thanks

onioneye

Hi there,

unfortunately, I’m unable to provide support for the amount of modifications you are asking for, and please understand that what you are asking for is definitely a job for a freelancer. Regretfully, I can only offer support for modifications within one or two lines of code, and yours are definitely much more than that; I, including hundreds of other ThemeForest authors usually charge for these types of modifications, but I stopped accepting freelance work for the time being, because I will be buried in work over the next few months. Therefore, my best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a skillful and reputable freelancer for the job.

I am really sorry I couldn’t be of more help, regarding the matter. Thank you for your understanding.

4. Actually better still, is there custom css code to change the title. Would be easier for me that way.

5. Is there css code to get rid of all the arrows in the portfolio details, their after, Categories ?, Date ? and URL ?

6. And a css code to remove the “Current” icon that comes up over the portfolios.

7. A way to make the background of the site pure white as looks like a very light cream colour at present

7. Code to remove the icon next to the “Portfolio” on the home page. Looks like pawn in a black circle.

8. Remove all the dotted lines that separate up the page. Run from left to right.

9. Remove the categories from the portfolio details ?

10. Is it possible to give details on each image in the slider, i’m illustrating animal and it would be great in their names changed as the viewer clicks through

Many thanks for your help. Best ever

Hi Onion Eye,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly regarding quality of the photos. The crop is fine, it’s the color I’m having trouble with. Will the fix you gave me improve the colors as well?

Thank you! Amber

onioneye

Hi Amber,

the quality improvement included colors as well, so yeah, you can expect that. However, the quality is already high, so please don’t expect any major improvements. For the best results, you should upload the images of the exact recommended dimensions.

11. Decrease the amount of space between the top of the page and the dotted line just below site title. Say by 40%.

12. Decrease size of site title by around half, i tried to change the 60px in the “Header” section to 30px. Nothing happens ?

For some reason my site will not display or load unless I am logged in. The host says they see no issues and the site seems to function as normal when logged in. However, once logged out, the site stops loading and nothing displays. The only thing I can think of is the theme is somehow involved. Can you help?

Hi there, again. :)

As far as your issue goes, the reason behind the items’ inability to load is most probably due to the fact that you logged in your WordPress admin panel, and then logged out in the meantime. I’m sure my questions been asked before, but its hard to find answers here with the search…

1/ I want to have more than 10 photos in the portfolio. where can i change it?

2/ I want to show the title of an image (the one that WordPress gives it automatically when you upload a picture. is there a field/check box in the theme that can control it and i miss it?

10x!

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

1) Yes, but you would have to edit the theme’s code. I would imagine this would take a developer under a half an hour or so to complete.

Hint: the files that need to be modified are called portfolio-metaboxes.php, theme-functions.php, and upload-button.js.

2) This is certainly possible, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you, and that is most definitely a task for a developer.

The main files to modify in this case are the following:
  • theme-functions.php
  • single-portfolio.php
  • style.css

By the way, if you are not a developer yourself, but absolutely need to have the mentioned features available in your copy of the theme, then my best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a reputable freelancer for the job.

Hello,

Is there any way I can place a link for the ‘Sample Page’ top dark drop-down inside a tag on the ‘Headline Introduction Text’ ?

I basically want to integrate this header’s drop-down link on another place: inside the ‘headline introduction text’.

thanks in advance and congrats for the sick theme

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for congratulating me on the theme, and for the purchase. :)

As far as your question goes, it is certainly possible to modify the theme in this way, but since it is not available out of the box, you would have to modify the following files:

  • header.php
  • jquery.header.custom.js
  • style.css
