I am using featured slider and both sections, the latest posts which featured slider shows doesn’t show in section 1 its fine, but the section 2 contains same posts as section 1 – any idea how not to show same posts if I am using “latest posts” category for both sections?

jdsans

Then you can set latest posts as static page

I have added the featured slider code from template-home to index.php, but the section one is also showing the slider posts

jdsans

because that section is not configured to remove slider posts

How to add Website input option in comments

jdsans

For a reason I really don’t understand, after uploading the new version of the theme, I can’t get back the old look of the homepage (http://cestdusolide.fr/). No slider, no category, just the latest posts. What’s wrong with that ?

jdsans

Try using poedit

Well, I tried, but same punition. I put the 2 files in zend/lang/ . Is that right ? I don’t understand why it’s not working, it always has !

jdsans

Just last check. This is what was in read me file, which i forgot to add

If you are interested in translating, use default.po as a template to create a po file for the new translation file.

The resulting translated file should be named with the following format:

- ISO 639 language code (lowercase) - an underscore - ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code (uppercase) - .mo

So for an French translation, the file name would be fr_FR.po

Thanks!

Hi,

I would like to move the social media icons to the menu bar (primary nav), aligned to the right. Is this possible? I tried editing the header file, but it made the images repeat and made the menu bar too tall.

Thanks! Aaron

jdsans

Proper CSS is needed for placing menu in Primary navigation. If you’re changing position you also need to change CSS

Could you please point me in the right direction as to what CSS changes would be needed?

jdsans

You need to modify the primary navigation’s CSS code for it to support social icons

The slider does not show up. What I’ve done:

1. Made sure the image is 650×350 pixels and set as featured image. 2. Added the tag ‘slider-home’ to the article that needs to show up in the slider. 3. Double-checked whether ‘slider-home’ has been set in the theme’s options.

But the slider still doesn’t show up on the homepage :(

jdsans

Another thing if you’re using latest version of ZEND then setting homepage the way it was earlier has been changed. See documentation on how to set homepage in new version

I’ve enabled Slider on homepage (Appearance > Theme Options > Homepage Settings > Enable slider) and added “slider-home” (correctly spelled) tag to a couple of posts. Refreshing browser, the slider doesn’t appear on the homepage. I even tried changing the default tag to “featured” and added “featured” as a tag to the posts. Slider still doesn’t appear on homepage. Anything else I should try?

EDIT: I’ve also ensured that the posts in question have 650×650 featured images.

EDIT: Sorry, RTFM. Page 3 of the manual describes how to set up a homepage. Fixed.

jdsans

If you’re using latest ZEND version then please read documentation. There’s new way of setting the homepage, which will enable the slider again.

I updated to the latest version of the theme and had trouble getting the top and primary custom menus to show. I disabled all plugins and deleted cache but, nothing would work. In poking around in header.php I saw a call to wp_nav_menu and, for me, removing the 'walker' => new description_walker() parameter from this call seemed to work.

Is there something else I should be looking at for this?

jdsans

No actually i would have also suggested that. Actually the walker class is creates those dividers used in top header navigation. So removing that will not not affect menu’s functionality.

Also don’t forget to rate the theme on themeforest. You can do it by going to Downloads

Hi jdsans!

Coming back to the translation problem: I opened the default.po file in lang folder with Poedit, but did not find the “latest posts” line. Nor did I find “Navigation Menu” and “Touch to search” lines.

Really confused about how to translate that single thing.

jdsans

Sorry again i almost forgot you need to change latest posts in two files. The one i already gave and template-home.php if its latest version.

If not latest version then index.php

thnx a lot! That worked!))) One more question: where do I find “You must be logged in to post a comment”, “Logged in as”, “Log out?” lines? thank you in advance.

jdsans

These lines are created by wordpress not the theme

Hi, I have a problem with the translation. I made the french version fr_FR and it’s in the /lang folder. But it’s not loading. I can’t seem to find the infos in the documentation.

Thanks!

jdsans

Use default.po as a template to create a po file for the new translation file.

The resulting translated file should be named with the following format:

- ISO 639 language code (lowercase) - an underscore - ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code (uppercase) - .mo

So for an French translation, the file name would be fr_FR.po

After that you need to edit wp-config file to change the language settings

Default-user

That’s all done. The french version file is made (fr_FR.mo) and it’s in the themes folder /lang. The wp-config is set:

define(‘WPLANG’, ‘fr_FR’);

Am I missing something?

jdsans

Can you send me the french files through http://jasdeepsaini43.wufoo.com/forms/contact-us/

In the previous version of the template there was an installed “Popular Posts” widget, which doesn’t show in the new version. Is there any way to get it back? I liked the layout of it.

jdsans

Popular posts is now custom posts widget

Hi, I just bought your theme, looks great! Had a quick question. On my home page, I’ve enable the slider, and both sections. Everything looks good, except in section 2… the featured image is being cropped the same as section 1 instead of being the smaller square like in the demo.

here’s a link so you can see what I mean. http://www.exceptionalhealth.org

All of my featured images are 650×350 in px

also forgot to add.. it does something similar on the category pages.. example: http://exceptionalhealth.org/news/

The posts below the featured should be squared? Thanks!

jdsans

Hi,

If you have uploaded the images before installing the theme then they won’t get cropped and won’t work correctly.

Hey there,

I’m switching to use Facebook comments but still wanted to use the header for the comments that says “Leave A Comment”. Any idea how I can separate this so when I install facebook comments, it doesn’t get rid of the header?

Example: http://state-lines.com/baseball-hall-of-fame-shutout/

Thanks!

jdsans

did you insert header that is currently displaying or it comes with facebook comments

Default-user

Well it does give me the option to add a header, however that’s only using the <h> tags 1,2, or 3. But that doesn’t give me the same formatting as your normal “Leave A Comment” header.

jdsans

If you can add html then use this code

<h3 id="reply-title">Leave a Comment</h3>

Go to theme’s option panel and just save the settings once. Also don’t forget to rate the theme on themeforest. You can do it by going to Downloads

I was curious how to enable the arrows to scroll through posts in the sections on the homepage? I see it work in the theme but I’m not getting that option on my site http://state-lines.com

Thanks!

Nevermind, I’m an idiot. I figured it out.

Thanks for all the help!

Hey. The theme looks great and I’ve modified it to suit my site really well. There is one crucial issue however, the page speed.

It’s a fairly heavy theme but with quite a bit of work I’ve cut it down from about 1.4MB to 250KB. It still loads pretty slowly however, especially the homepage slider which seems to have some sort of delay. Currently even my optimised version loads in 2 seconds with your hosted demo version loading in 4 seconds. Anything above a second is really unacceptable imo.

It would be nice if the amount of http headers were reduced and the homepage optimised.

Otherwise, great theme. Thanks.

Default-user

Yep I’ve combined scripts and thrown away the un-needed ones. I’ve reduced the number of images of the page greatly and optimised the ones left. I’ve added some more images to the sprites file that should have been there. I’ve minified all of the files and combined the CSS too (Althought the style_load.php file is annoyingly php). I’ve moved and combined all the javascript files to the footer that can be moved (obviously a couple need to be in the head). I’ve added Cloudflare CDN and it’s hosted on a good server. I was previously loading another theme that was 120KB in about 300ms so the fact that 250KB (Down from the original 1.4MB) is loading in 2 seconds just seems silly.

I really think it has something to do with the slider, whenever the page loads the slider always pops up last.

Thanks for your help.

jdsans

Woa, that’s really great. The slider is coded to load after all content is loaded.

You can change that and make slider to load with content. But i should warn you that has some side effects.

Default-user

Ah ok I see, I think I’ll give it a go and see how it works out. Where can I change this? Thanks.

My apologies. I found an error I made last time AND this time – a missing dot at the beginning of a line! Please disregard. The correct code in the custom CSS area is working as expected.
