Very nice theme design. My daughter wants to use this for her illustration portfolio site. Couple of questions:

1. I am assuming the map on the “Contact” page can be removed or replaced, yes?

2. Is the header controlled by CSS , and if so, I assume the font, etc., can be modified. If we wish to replace the type with a logo image, is this possible.

3. Probably won’t need to “Blog” section. Can this be disabled?

4. Is there a max number of words for a service description?

I am experienced in tinkering under the hood in Wordpress, so I am comfortable with editing themes, etc. — whatever is needed.

Thanks.

Hi Gary,

Thank you for your interest in Zipfolio.

1. Yes, the map can be removed via Theme Options. Please see this: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#contact

2. You can upload a logo for the header in Theme Options.

3. Yes, you can simply delete the blog section/page with the option of re-adding it later.

4. You can provide as little or as much text as you want depending on how your want that section to appear.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Steven,

I like your theme. A few questions before I buy it: 1) is it possible to add a phone field to the contact form? 2) Is it possible to use a multi-level drop down menu? So I can add multiple custom sections without running out of space in the menu.

Thanks, Wouter

StevenGliebe

Hi Wouter,

Thank you for your interest in Risen.

1. You would need to make a code customization using a child theme or consider a plugin instead of the built-in form, such as Contact Form 7.

2. The menu in the header supports multi-level dropdowns. You can try it out here: http://themeforest.net/item/risen-church-wordpress-theme-responsive/full_screen_preview/2632774

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi steven,

Thanks for your reply. You talk about Risen, but I am interested in Zipfolio!

I didn’t wait for your answer, I already bought it a few days ago.

I still have some questions, but will contact you via the support form.

Wouter

StevenGliebe

Hi Wouter,

Sorry about that. In the case of Zipfolio answer one is the same and two is that Zipfolio does not support drop downs so you would need to make a code customization for that, using a child theme.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello :)

Do you have an RTL version of this theme?

Thanks,

Oren

StevenGliebe

Hi Oren,

Thank you for your interest in the theme. There is currently no rtl.css file with the theme. This is something I will consider adding. In the meantime, if you wanted to use a child theme to add support for RTL you may find these resources useful:

Hey Steven, really good stuff here.

I bought this to a client and I have one doubt: is it possible to make a single portfolio item page?

I’ve noticed that there’s a single-zipfolio_portfolio.php file, but it redirects to the home.

Cheers!

StevenGliebe

Thank you for choosing Zipfolio for your project.

Zipfolio is a single page theme so portfolio items do not have their own page. Instead, they show in a lightbox on the main page. If you would like them to show on single pages you would need to make a code customization using a child theme: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#child-theme

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Just a question is there a way to embed an iframe i have been trying with various plugins but it seems impossible can you please help me

StevenGliebe

When editing a post click thr HTML tab at the top-right (by Visual) to switch to HTML mode. Insert your iframe HTML code there. If you’re trying to embed a video or image from a widely used service such as YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, etc. you may want to use WordPress’s Embeds: http://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds

You can find more details at the bottom of this page: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#shortcodes

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi again, Steven. I solved the single portfolio item page question. But I tried to disable the lightbox function, linking the thumbnail to the permalink, but when I click on the thumb returns an error, saying “Image cannot be loaded. Make sure the path is correct and image exist.” Is it possible to solve this one?

Cheers!

StevenGliebe

Hello,

The theme gets the image URL from href in the anchor tag, so since it is no longer a JPEG but rather a link to a page, you get that error. You will probably need to disable the JavaScript code that handles the lightbox altogether. See main.js where it says “Open lightbox on thumbnail click” and all the code below that comment that involves clicking the thumbnail.

Excellent theme Steven, thank you. I realize this is a single page theme, however I would like to add additional pages to setup Paypal payment processing. When I create new pages, I end up creating sections on the home/single page. Is there a work-around? Thanks again for this great product and the impeccable documentation.

StevenGliebe

Hello,

Thank you for using Zipfolio.

As a single page theme, it is designed in a way that pages are shown as sections on the homepage. Accessing the single page permalink redirects to the appropriate section on the homepage. In order to change how this works, you would need to make a code customization using a child theme: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#child-theme

Hi,

Great work.

Videos that I link to in my portfolio do not load, at all. I have tried in 3 different browsers and 3 different devices.

johndlovell.com

Select the “Action Reel.”

Any ideas?

StevenGliebe

Hi John,

Thank you for choosing Zipfolio.

One thing to try is make sure the URLs are using http and not https. I’m seeing a different theme in use currently. Please provide me with a URL showing the issue and I will take a look.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Steve, your template is awesome… almost buying it. I just have to know if it will work with my webhost (networksolutions.com)

I have asked them and basically this was their answer (with another question):

“Generally with those they should work regardless since it’s just PHP coding. the only thing is you’d need to make sure it was compatabile with PHP 5.3 which is current version.”

Could you pls confirm if it will work fine?

Oh, would you have some screenpics of the wordpress control panel related to your template?

BIG thx,

Bruno

StevenGliebe

Hi Bruno,

Thank you for your interest in Risen.

Risen will work on any host that works with WordPress, which I am sure Network Solutions is since nearly all are. PHP 5.3 will be no problem.

You can find about a dozen videos here that show the admin area in action: http://www.screenr.com/user/stevengliebe. You may also want to take a peek at the documentation to get a feel for how things work: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/

If you have any questions, just let me know.

Hi Steven, thank you for your kindness! I’ve just purchased and I will try to install it in my network solutions webhost. I got your links and I will follow them carefully… 2 questions remain:

1. Is it possible to access and edit the thumbnails once they are generated? wondering if I can find them through ftp later on…

2. Is it possible (and easy) to change typefaces (@font-face kits) once everything is up and running? thank you again for your help.

I’ve already purchased your zipfolio (non-wordpress) but I got bored generating every thumbnail… also, any reason why the logo is restrained to only 50k?

StevenGliebe

Hi Bruno,

Here is documentation for Zipfolio: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/ (I sent you a link for my other theme by mistake earlier).

1. WordPress stores uploaded and resized images in wp-content/uploads so you can do anything you’d like with your files there. Each thumbnail should be automatically resized accordingly, but if you want to do manually cropping you can use a plugin like this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-thumbnail-editor/

2. Zipfolio uses the Lato font. If you want to change fonts you would need to make a code customization using a child theme: You would need to make a code customization using a child theme to accomplish this: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#child-theme . There is a file list here: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#files

3. 50 pixels is the maximum recommended height since the header bar is designed to be narrow. There is no restriction on the actual upload so you could try a larger logo and see how it works. If necessary, you can change the way the header is displayed by using a child theme.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Steven! I’ve already given best rates to both Zipfolio. I’m struggling to find a way to replace fonts (since I’m not a big fan of serif) and mainly, how to remove the shadow of topics (About, etc). I’ve installed everything as per your guidelines, but looking from the ftp, there;s no zipfolio-child dir !? I took a screenpic from my ftp, as it shows, how can I send it to you? sorry for my dumb questions and thx 4 your help!

StevenGliebe

Thank you for the ratings.

You can find a starter guide and information on using the included sample child theme here: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#child-theme

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, after a while, I managed to instal the child-theme, which I haven’t previously, reason why I couldn’t see it in the ftp…

Just to be clear, I go to parent style, I copy whatever I want to change, and I paste into the child style, so it overrides the parent without changing it?! is that so? thx

StevenGliebe

Yes, that is basically how child theming works. The sample and documentation have some information on replacing functions, filters, styles, etc. The WordPress Codex has additional information: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

Hi Steven,

I have bought this awesome theme and I have a question. At present the theme spaces the services to fit 4 services. Since I have three services to show, it leaves a bit of a gap. Is it possible to adjust the width of the services section to be 100%, regardless of he numer of services?

Thanks and Cheers!

Hi Steven! I’m almost there with my site (and your template). One little thing is still bugging me. I can’t figure out nor find out throughout your pages, where I can make the Social Network icons (facebook, etc) to open in a new page, other than the actual website… thing is, if some visitors leave the page, they might get lost and stop browsing… could you give the page name (and perhaps the page line) inside Zipfolio, where I could just add this tinny code… ? This would be really cool. THX again!

StevenGliebe

You can find the <a></a> tag for the social icon links in includes/customizations.php near line 252. I recommend using a child theme for code customizations: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#child-theme

Hi Steven, I’d like to know if this plugin would work with your Zipfolio for Wordpress? many thanks.

StevenGliebe

Hello,

Zipfolio has its own portfolio built-in so they will not work in any way together. It might work on a separate page/section but I couldn’t say since I have not used the plugin myself. I can’t guarantee any third party plugin will work with the theme.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Steven, you have designed an awesome theme. I am almost on the verge of buying it. Just had a doubt to confirm – is it possible to have the header / logo constant on top of the site when a lightbox opens up?

StevenGliebe

Thank you for your interest in Zipfolio.

You would need to make a code customization using a child theme to accomplish something like that: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#child-theme. Otherwise it will behave as you see in the demo, with the lightbox obscuring everything beneath.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Steven, it’s me again :P

I’m finally finishing the job, and my client decided for the lightbox, but I’m in trouble.

How do I change the lightbox overlay color?

My client asked for a transparent black covering the page and I just can’t find where I’m supposed to change the color…

Cheers!

StevenGliebe

Hello,

Support is not offered for customizations. The theme uses prettyPhoto for the lightbox and is made to show the site’s main background instead of a semi-transparent one. You can change the way the theme works by using a child theme: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#child-theme:

You can find a file list here: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/#files

I can refer you to Tweaky for professional customization if it would be helpful: http://churchthemes.com/go/tweaky

Thinking of buying this. How simple is this to set up? I’m buying it for my friend who is a complete newbie at wordpress, so even reading instructions will be complicated for her and take her too long.

She’s just an artist who wants to display her photos just like you’ve done in your demo (Gallery 3 column). Please do let me know :)

Also, any limit on the number of photos she can upload? I think she has 60/70 or so.

StevenGliebe

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Risen.

WordPress and the theme are both made for regular user—no coding skills necessary. Some find it easier than others so view the documentation and videos to get an idea of what is involved in setting up a site and managing content: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/zipfolio/docs/

There is no limit to the number of photos that can be uploaded (other than the web host’s storage space limit).

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Steven, I very much welcome this theme. Do you think it is possible to achieve such adjustments to some of the thumbnails in the portfolio were a portrait? I mean such a change when the frame adjusts too. Thanks!
